Calvin Austin's injury opened a roster spot on the wide receiver depth chart, significantly improving Beckham's chances of making the Giants' roster after he was on the bubble before Austin went down. Playing Beckham out of the slot may be his best alignment; he has put good play on tape in preseason with well-run routes showing savvy and nuance, strong downfield blocking effort, though he had a bad drop against Miami. To be a real factor beyond just making the roster, Beckham needs to prove he's one of the Giants' four best receivers on the field.
