STACKED’s take
Saylors secures roster spot with 17 carries, 100 yards in preseason finale.
Saylors has firmly stamped his spot on the 53-man roster after a productive preseason. In the preseason finale, he had 14 touches across 38 Lions offensive plays in the first half (37% of plays), including 12 carries for 67 yards and 2 catches for 12 yards. He finished the game with 17 carries for 100 yards. Dan Campbell noted during halftime: "Saylors is making a lot of runs... Saylors is taking advantage of that and he's finding those creases." With Jabari Small injured on a kick return, Saylors' workload extended into the second half. If the Lions remain shorthanded at running back heading into Week 1 against New Orleans, Saylors could be part of the Week 1 offense.
