McCord was acquired by the Dolphins as a backup quarterback after the team traded away Quinn Ewers and released Mark Gronowski and Cam Miller, leaving starter Malik Willis as the only quarterback on the roster. McCord spent his rookie season on the Philadelphia Eagles' practice squad before signing a reserve/futures contract with the Packers, where he worked through offseason workouts, training camp, and the 2026 preseason before the trade.
