Carson Wentz is the favorite to become the de facto QB2 for the Vikings, regardless of official depth chart position. In preseason action, Wentz looked smoother and more comfortable running Kevin O'Connell's offense than J.J. McCarthy, and O'Connell may trust Wentz more than McCarthy to run the offense should Kyler Murray suffer an injury. With McCarthy sidelined by a multi-week ankle injury, Wentz will be getting the critical backup reps in practice.
