ArticleIan Cunningham: Falcons still deciding QB battle
From the article
To see Coop and Jack continuously to get better throughout, while Tua and Mike were getting healthy. Coming in with that, thinking, alright, there's some injury risk with those guys, trying to protect against that. There's a little bit of an insurance policy, but there's also these guys who have been productive during the preseason.

Rush retained as veteran insurance; productive in preseason but not in Week 1 contention.
Cooper Rush is the veteran insurance option in the Falcons' four-quarterback roster. GM Cunningham explained the team kept Rush as an injury-protection insurance policy and because Rush has been productive during the preseason. Cunningham noted that if Rush were released, he could potentially get an opportunity with another team, so the Falcons retained him. Rush is not in contention for the Week 1 starter role.
