I thought Laube played pretty well in the preseason. He really stood out to me in the Texans game with five carries for 27 yards (5.4 ypc) and a touchdown to go along with two catches for 24 yards in the passing game...he catches the ball well, and he forced five missed tackles on four catches last month, per Pro Football Focus. He also brings value on special teams as a returner option.

STACKED’s take

Positive signalRole

Laube has defined third-down and special-teams role; preseason showed 5.4 ypc and receiving upside.

Third-year RB entering a make-or-break season with a defined role on third downs and special teams; played well in preseason with 5 carries for 27 yards (5.4 ypc) and a TD plus 2 catches for 24 yards vs. Texans, forcing 5 missed tackles on 4 catches per PFF. Catches the ball well and brings value as a returner and kickoff coverage mainstay over the last two years. Limited competition for the third RB spot (Ogunbowale signed late, Collier on IR, Hemby and Washington Jr. underdeveloped), giving Laube a genuine opportunity to contribute in a small role.
