Smith enjoyed modicum of success with Seattle 2022–2024 (10–7 record, 4300+ passing yards in 2024) before struggling with Raiders in 2025 (2–13 record, 3025 passing yards, 34 QBR, led NFL in sacks and interceptions). Played behind worst offensive line in NFL with hobbled receivers (Brock Bowers injured, Jakobi Meyers traded after 7 games, Tre Tucker). Jets should provide significantly better offensive line and weapons, positioning Smith for improvement. However, Smith turns 36 in October with QBR declining each of last three years; ceiling likely league-average starting quarterback, major upgrade over recent Jets starters but floor remains uncertain question for 2026 fate.
