Even in Weeks 12-18 when his play improved marginally, he ranked 15th in adjusted completion rate, 22nd in highly accurate throw rate, 26th in catchable target rate, and 23rd in hero throw rate among 30 qualifying passers. Tennessee added Wan'Dale Robinson and Carnell Tate to improve the passing attack, but preseason action was uninspiring: among 62 qualifying quarterbacks, Ward ranked 46th in yards per attempt, 38th in adjusted completion rate, and 54th in aDOT. The Jets added significant defensive talent (T'Vondre Sweat, David Bailey, Demario Davis, Nashon Wright, Minkah Fitzpatrick) and allowed the eighth-most yards per attempt, highest passer rating, and 11th-highest success rate in 2025, creating an above-average matchup for Ward to open the season.
