Watson's $92 million extension is difficult to justify given his injury history and boom-or-bust inconsistency. In 10 games last season, he finished inside the top 10 three times but outside the top 30 five times; he has never had a 700-yard receiving season and only four top-10 finishes from 2022-2024. His production boost last season was likely attributable to injuries to Tucker Kraft and Jayden Reed, plus rookie Matthew Golden's struggles. Watson is one-dimensional as a route runner, running mostly deep routes (deep out 20%, post 18%) and has never finished inside the top 70 in target separation. Jordan Love spreads the ball around: Watson led the team with 19.9% target share last season, but Tucker Kraft was close behind at 18.8%, limiting Watson's ceiling.
