Brown clearly didn't put his best foot forward for the Eagles in 2025. Keeping him moving forward clearly wasn't an option; the Eagles were never going to get the motivated version of Brown in 2026 that the Patriots will be getting.

Brown was traded away in the offseason after not putting his best foot forward for the Eagles in 2025; the Eagles received a 2028 first-round pick and 2027 fifth-round pick in return. Bleeding Green Nation notes that while Brown is still an awesome player, the Eagles were never going to get the motivated version of Brown in 2026 that the Patriots will be getting, and the team will miss him despite his departure.
