Rush started as No. 3 QB for Falcons after Tagovailoa's oblique injury.

Rush started for the Falcons in Week 1 against Pittsburgh as the No. 3 quarterback after starter Tua Tagovailoa suffered an oblique injury during Thursday practice warmups and Michael Penix Jr. remained sidelined with a partially torn ACL. Rush himself suffered back spasms on Saturday morning but recovered in time to play a full game; the Falcons were close to starting undrafted rookie Jack Strand had Rush been unable to play.
