Maye threw three interceptions in the Patriots' opener, which was awful, but the social media criticism has gone overboard. Going back to the recent postseason, Maye has had five subpar games in a row against the Chargers, Texans, Broncos, and two against the Seahawks—three of those teams (Texans, Broncos, Seahawks) have top-five defenses and the Chargers were top-10 in DVOA last season. One game against the Broncos was played in a blizzard. Maye had a fantastic 2025 season against an easy schedule and came one vote from winning NFL MVP. He's 24 years old and will be fine; he needs to play better than he has lately, but not playing elite defenses every week should help.
