FantasyPros Articles on Kaelon Black
From the article
Kaelon Black will be a wildly popular waiver wire target this week after playing 43.1% of the offensive snaps in the 49ers' 27-7 win over the Rams. Black looked sharp, carrying 14 times for 65 yards and catching one pass for five yards.
STACKED’s take
Black 43% snap share, 14 carries in Week 1; elite handcuff with flex upside.
Black played 43.1% of offensive snaps in the 49ers' 27-7 Week 1 win over the Rams, carrying 14 times for 65 yards and catching one pass for five yards. The question is whether 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan will continue to use Black in much the same way or whether Shanahan is managing Christian McCaffrey's workload carefully because the game was played in Australia and McCaffrey experienced lower-body tightness in training camp. Given McCaffrey had 450 touches last season including playoffs, it would be wise for Shanahan to dial back his usage. Black is clearly the No. 2 running back in San Francisco and quite possibly the most indispensable handcuff in fantasy football, with a chance to provide stand-alone flex value over the next two weeks with the 49ers expected to be heavy favorites against the Dolphins and Cardinals.
