If there's one thing Jacoby Brissett is going to do, it's win a Week 1 start against a team he has absolutely no business beating. Seriously, I've seen him do it twice now in the last three seasons: first with the Patriots against the Joe Burrow-led Bengals in 2024 and now against the Justin Herbert-led Chargers this year as a member of the Cardinals.

Brissett's Week 1 win over Chargers fits pattern of backup QB success in single games.

Jacoby Brissett won a Week 1 start against the Chargers as a member of the Cardinals, continuing a pattern of backup quarterback success in single games. The source notes he has done this twice in the last three seasons (Patriots vs. Bengals in 2024, now Cardinals vs. Chargers), but cautions that Arizona's limited roster means this will likely be one of just a handful of wins for the team this year. Brissett exemplifies why quality backup quarterbacks stay employed and occasionally get extended looks as starters.
