Last season, Allen was on his back more often than he'd like. With the Bills losing a starting guard in Edwards, it's not looking likely that things will improve that much with little changes made to the line. Enter the improved Lions defensive line. With the Lions' defensive line being their strong suit on defense, they are going to be after Allen all game long.

Allen faced significant pressure last season and will face more in this matchup; the Bills lost starting guard Edwards and made little changes to the offensive line, while the Lions' defensive line—their strongest defensive unit with Alim McNeill healthy—will target Allen all game. The Lions generated 29 pressures and five sacks against the Saints (per PFF), compared to the Bills allowing only 13 pressures and two sacks against the Texans' elite defensive line. If the Lions generate quick pressure, Allen won't have time to make his usual plays, though he will still make some as an elite improviser.
