Yahoo Sports NFL on Domonique Orange
From the article
"Big Citrus" is a 6'2", 322-pound nose tackle the Vikings drafted out of Iowa State in the third round. He's more of a run-stuffing nose tackle who won't add as much value as a pass rusher and may likely come off the field on passing downs...I'm not expecting a big rookie year for Orange from what I've seen of his college tape.
STACKED’s take
Third-round DT projects as pass-rush liability; conditioning and technique concerns limit rookie-year upside.
Third-round pick Domonique Orange is a 6'2", 322-pound run-stuffing nose tackle from Iowa State who the source projects will be a liability in pass rush and likely come off the field on passing downs. The source's tape review found Orange was not as dominant as sometimes written: he had 13 pressures (no sacks) and 20 tackles (16 run stops) in 547 snaps last season, with 7 missed tackles and a PFF run defense grade of only 67.4 (barely higher than his 62.8 pass rush grade). By contrast, first-round pick Kayden McDonald had 15 pressures (4 sacks), 43 tackles, and 34 run stops on 99 fewer snaps. The source attributes Orange's struggles to conditioning issues (appeared gassed in games), limited lateral ability, and lack of strength advantage against NFL competition. The source does not expect a big rookie year and hopes Orange will be "decent enough and in good enough shape to at least not be a liability."
