Cincy Jungle on Joe Flacco

Flacco unlikely to be traded; backup QB role increasingly valuable in NFL

Flacco stated he has no reason to believe he's getting traded. The source notes the backup quarterback position has become one of the more valuable in the NFL, citing the Seattle Seahawks going 2-0 with Zack Wilson replacing Sam Darnold. The Bengals are not pressed to trade Flacco because the same appeal that makes trading for a quality backup attractive—the ability to win games if the starter goes down—is why they want to keep him and avoid leaving a hole at the position.
