Daniels is back with the Commanders under a new offensive system under David Lau that will transition from no-huddle, gun-heavy option runs to more under-center, outside-zone looks with multiple tight ends—a dramatic shift that resembles the Lions' approach. This system change should reduce his scrambling and design run workload. Last year Daniels scrambled 16% of the time, the highest rate by a significant margin and higher than his rookie year; while some of that was due to lack of pass catchers, he should scramble less going forward under the new Ben Johnson scheme.
