Winston's 36-53 starter record and turnover history pose significant risk.

Winston carries significant interception risk as a starter. Offensive coordinator Matt Nagy has joked with Winston about his NFL-high 30 interception season in 2019 with the Buccaneers (paired with 33 touchdown passes), and Nagy emphasized that ball security is paramount for this Giants team. Winston's career record as an NFL starter stands at 36-53. The offensive staff plans to shape the game plan around Winston's strengths—intermediate and deep throws—but Nagy acknowledged no one can control Winston's decision-making. The focus for the Giants shifts from winning with Dart to preventing Winston from losing games.
