STACKED’s take
Vikings sign Neal to address RB depth; rookie dual-threat competes with Dallas for carries.
The Vikings signed the 23-year-old former Saints RB to address backfield depth. Neal, a 5th-round pick in 2025, totaled 310 yards and 2 TDs as a rookie, appearing in 10 games with 57 rushing attempts for 206 yards and 2 TDs plus 17 receptions on 19 targets for 104 yards. A dynamic dual-threat from Kansas with 1,000+ rushing yards in three straight seasons (2022–24) and 20+ receptions annually, Neal was waived off New Orleans' injured reserve in early September. He'll now compete with DeeJay Dallas for reps in a thin Vikings backfield that has Jordan Mason on injured reserve, Aaron Jones Sr. banged up at 3.9 yards per carry, and Demond Claiborne still early in his rookie season. Neal had pre-draft momentum as a riser.
