Mariota is at least an experienced backup the Commanders can turn to with Daniels out. Mariota, a former Heisman winner and second overall draft pick in 2015, is 36-46 as a starter and 2-6 last year. He is 2-0 against Seattle, wins with Tennessee in 2017 and Atlanta at Lumen Field in 2022.

STACKED’s take

NeutralRole

Mariota starts for injured Daniels; 2-0 vs. Seattle but 32 and less mobile than Daniels.

Marcus Mariota, a former Heisman winner and second overall draft pick in 2015, gets the start for Washington with Jayden Daniels out with a left elbow dislocation. Mariota is 36-46 as a starter and 2-6 last year, but is 2-0 against Seattle with wins in 2017 (Tennessee) and 2022 (Atlanta). He is now 32 years old and not quite the running threat he was a few years ago. He has a relatively high 7.85% career sack rate, and Washington needs him to stay upright.
