NFL.com News on Cam Ward
From the article
Ward shoveled the ball toward Tony Pollard rather than taking a sack, only for the pigskin to slip through the running back's hands and into linebacker Trenton Simpson's. Case in point, the second-year quarterback later had zero chance to pick up a first down while scrambling on a third-and-10 near the mouth of his own end zone.
STACKED’s take
Ward shows chemistry with Tate but makes costly mental mistakes; growing pains evident.
Ward showed clear affinity for Carnell Tate, his No. 1 target, hooking up for crucial gains with regularity. However, both players made mental mistakes that must be eliminated. On the second play of the game, Ward shoveled the ball toward Tony Pollard rather than taking a sack, only for the pigskin to slip through the running back's hands into linebacker Trenton Simpson's. Later, Ward had zero chance to pick up a first down while scrambling on a third-and-10 near his own end zone and inexplicably pitched it to Tyjae Spears, who had a wall of Ravens in front of him. Ward and Tate are going through growing pains, but this was their finest showing together yet.
