Thornton suffers gruesome left ankle injury in Week 4; Reid says "it doesn't look good."

Suffered a gruesome left ankle injury in Week 4 against Las Vegas Raiders after catching a 55-yard pass from Patrick Mahomes; his left leg twisted awkwardly under defensive back Treydan Stukes as he was dragged to the ground, with his left foot facing the wrong direction. Chiefs coach Andy Reid stated "It doesn't look good" and Thornton was carted off with an air cast. Thornton finished the game with five catches for 111 yards and two touchdowns before exiting. Reid noted the injury occurred during what was shaping up to be a career-best year: "For that to happen, especially with the year he's having. He's been having a phenomenal year to this point."
