Player insights

39

A.J. Brown

PositiveProjection0:15

A.J. Brown went sixth in round two. Bob Harris notes he has two top-five seasons in his career and could easily do another one in fantasy.

Insight page

Adrian Peterson

PositiveProjection34:09

In 2012, Peterson came off an ACL injury with off-field questions about his future but ran for 2,100 yards, serving as a historical example of a player overcoming adversity.

Insight page

Blake Corum

PositiveUsage50:01

Corum had 39% of touches last year with the Rams, and while there's concern about his role expansion, he's not expected to dramatically increase his snap share.

Insight page

Brock Bowers

PositiveValue37:17

Bowers is a strong value at 30th overall as the best player in Las Vegas's receiving core and de facto wide receiver one under Clint Kubiak's Shanahan-style offense, and rarely lasts this long in drafts.

Insight page

Caleb Williams

PositiveRole63:20

Caleb Williams targeted Luther Burden on money downs and third/fourth down plays late in the season, though the results were mixed.

Insight page

CeeDee Lamb

PositiveProjection0:15

CeeDee Lamb went fifth in round two. Bob Harris notes he could be the best wide receiver and has headed into seasons as the WR1, suggesting he has top-five upside.

Insight page

Chase Brown

PositiveProjection0:15

Chase Brown went first in round two. Dave Richard, Jake Seeley, and Bob Harris all rank him second among the four top running backs in round two, behind James Cook but ahead of Saquon Barkley and Derrick Henry.

Insight page

Chris Olave

PositiveProjection35:53

Olave was the first pick of round three in the listener mock draft.

Insight page

Christian McCaffrey

PositiveProjection0:06

Christian McCaffrey went eighth overall, and Bob Harris calls this his favorite pick in round one because despite being over 30 and coming off a 400+ touch season, Kyle Shanahan's system will give him the workload to easily outperform the eighth spot.

Insight page

Colston Loveland

PositiveValue46:53

Loveland is consensus tight end three and available at a discount in round four, allowing teams to skip the premium tight ends and get him later at tier one value.

Insight page

D'Andre Swift

NegativeValue53:46

Swift at 45th overall (round four, pick 9) is a bit too rich; he's more of a round five pick and shares carries at a similar level to Kyron Williams but without guaranteed goal-line work.

Insight page

De'Von Achane

PositiveProjection0:05

Devon Achan went twelfth overall in the first round.

Insight page

Derrick Henry

PositiveProjection0:15

Derrick Henry went third in round two. All three analysts rank him fourth among the four top running backs in round two, behind James Cook, Chase Brown, and Saquon Barkley.

Insight page

DeVonta Smith

PositiveValue37:06

Smith is a strong value in round three because he's been a top 10 WR both with and without A.J. Brown, averaging 15-17 PPR points per game in games without Brown, and now becomes the offense's number one receiver.

Insight page

Drake London

NegativeProjection0:05

Drake London went tenth overall, but Dave Richard expresses concern about his quarterback situation and whether Michael Penix Jr. will start, noting the stark difference in numbers with and without Penix last year, making him a risky first-round pick.

Insight page

Drake Maye

PositiveValue54:06

Drake May at round four is a steal with upside to finish as QB1, capable of being a league-winner at his ADP with his weapons and mobility.

Insight page

Garrett Wilson

PositiveValue49:19

Wilson was taken in round four but analyst doesn't mind the pick, though he's not among the four picks he loves most in that round.

Insight page

George Pickens

NegativeProjection0:15

George Pickens went eleventh in round two, but Bob Harris dislikes this pick because he's coming off an unusually great season with circumstances that may have set him up for it, and wide receivers rarely repeat as top-12 PPR finishers year-to-year (only one set since 2014).

Insight page

Ja'Marr Chase

PositiveProjection0:05

Jamar Chase went second overall in the mock draft and is part of the consensus top-six tier of picks.

Insight page

James Cook

PositiveProjection0:13

James Cook went in the second round and is Dave Richard's favorite pick of round two, representing first-round value. Despite concerns about his 385-touch workload, Jake Seeley notes Cook improved his yards per touch on both rushing and receiving despite 100 more carries, and he still doesn't have 1,000 career touches, making the workload concern overblown.

Insight page

Javonte Williams

PositiveValue51:54

Williams is a strong fourth-round value with 19 opportunities per game, double-digit touches in all 16 games, 62 red zone touches (5th most among RBs), and top-12 target ranking among running backs.

Insight page

Jeremiyah Love

PositiveProjection35:53

Love was the second pick of round three in the listener mock draft.

Insight page

Jonathan Taylor

NegativeProjection0:05

Jonathan Taylor went fifth overall in round one, but Jake Seeley dislikes this pick because Taylor's performance is heavily dependent on game script—he averaged 30 PPR points per game in Colts wins but only 10 in losses, creating a 20-point gap that suggests he should go later in the first round.

Insight page

Josh Jacobs

NegativeInjury30:46

Off-field legal issues create uncertainty about his availability and focus heading into the season, making him a risky pick at his ADP despite being a top 10 talent.

Insight page

Justin Jefferson

NegativeProjection0:05

Justin Jefferson went eleventh overall, but Dave Richard and Bob Harris both express concern about his quarterback situation with Kyler Murray, noting that J.J. McCarthy was terrible last year and that Jefferson needs a competent quarterback to reach his ceiling.

Insight page

Kenneth Walker III

PositiveProjection0:15

Kenneth Walker III went ninth in round two (21st overall).

Insight page

Kyren Williams

PositiveValue48:43

Williams is a strong fourth-round value despite Blake Corum competition; he had 39% of touches last year and will continue to get goal-line work in one of the best offenses, averaging 16 PPR points per game in games where Corum played 30%+ snaps.

Insight page

Lamar Jackson

PositiveValue54:06

Lamar Jackson at round four is a steal with upside to finish as QB1, capable of being a league-winner at his ADP.

Insight page

Luther Burden

PositiveBreakout62:04

Burden is expected to emerge as the Amon-Ra St. Brown role in the Bears offense under Ben Johnson; he was getting significant playing time and third/fourth down targets late in his rookie season.

Insight page

Malik Nabers

NegativeValue33:48

Analyst joked that Nabers' poor running form in a softball game cost him about a round of ADP.

Insight page
NegativeValue58:37

Analyst ranks Nabers at 26 overall and won't take him in round four as a top 20 WR; there's too much uncertainty about his PUP status (4-6 weeks) and when he'll be fully available, making him more of a round five pick.

Insight page

Nico Collins

PositiveProjection0:15

Nico Collins went tenth in round two at the tail end, and Bob Harris sees him going there a lot with more upside available at that spot.

Insight page

Puka Nacua

PositiveProjection0:05

Puka Nakua went fourth overall in the mock draft and is part of the consensus top-six tier of picks.

Insight page

Rashee Rice

NegativeProjection0:15

Rasheed Rice went eighth in round two, but Jake Seeley dislikes this pick due to uncertainty around his legal situation and the Jacobs situation, making it too risky a gamble for a top-10 talent at this draft position in July.

Insight page
PositiveInjury33:43

Analyst made a light observation about Rice's mobility while evading reporters at jail, noting he appeared to be moving well.

Insight page

Saquon Barkley

PositiveProjection0:15

Saquon Barkley went second in round two. All three analysts rank him third among the four top running backs in round two, behind James Cook and Chase Brown but ahead of Derrick Henry.

Insight page

Trey McBride

PositiveValue38:36

McBride at 3.08 is the best value in round three; he's a McBride believer who expects Arizona to target him heavily under LaFleur, and Jacoby Brissett has a tendency to lean into tight ends.

Insight page

Tyreek Hill

PositiveProjection34:16

In 2023, Hill had legal scrutiny and off-field issues but led the NFL in receiving yards with 1,799 yards, demonstrating elite performance despite distractions.

Insight page

Zay Flowers

NegativeValue41:48

Analyst believes Flowers went about a full round too soon at 3.03, projecting him as a top 16 receiver but not a round three pick given his 6.5-6.8 targets per game and lack of red zone involvement.

0:57This past summer, my wife and I took my parents, our son and our granddaughter on vacation to Tennessee.
1:02We wanted to get out into nature so we found the perfect cabin on Airbnb where all four generations could stay together.
1:08The amenities really made the trip special. We had our own hot tub with a mountain view, a fire pit for late night s'mores and a full kitchen.
1:16When you're traveling with four generations, eating every meal out gets expensive.
1:19So it was great to make bacon and eggs for breakfast one morning and grill steaks for dinner another night.
1:25Booking a stay like this gives you the flexibility to vacation how you want, where you want, with the people who matter most.
1:31But it got me thinking, Airbnb isn't just great for finding places to stay.
1:35You can also list your own home when you're away.
1:38It's nice that the same platform I use to book family vacations can also help me earn a little extra money during
1:44high demand weekends without having to upend my daily life.
1:47Honestly, listing my house feels like a smart thing to do because it's just so incredibly practical.
1:52I'm already going to be traveling anyway. So why not earn a little extra money to put toward an upcoming vacation, help
1:58offset the cost of my flights or upgrade my travel gear?

2:05Your home might be worth more than you think.
2:08Find out how much at Airbnb.com slash host. This is fantasy football today from CBS Sports.
2:12What a play! Can you believe this? No, I can't.
2:15It's time to dominate your fantasy league. Off to the races!
2:18And he stays on his feet! He's just gonna go the distance!
2:21Now here's some combination of Adam, Dave, Jamie, and Heath.
2:24We are two weeks away from training camp opening across the NFL.
2:27This is the perfect time to do a mock draft, which I didn't take part in.
2:32These other guys didn't take part in. But to review it and tell you what went right and what went wrong.
2:38So that way when you get to your drafts in two, three, four, five, six weeks, you'll be ready to go.
2:44Welcome in to fantasy football today. It's Dave Richard.
2:46Two of the greatest fantasy football minds couldn't make it to the show today.
2:50So instead we got Jake Seeley from The Athletic and Bob Harris from Football Guys, two dear friends of mine in the industry.
2:56Two guys with interesting opinions. I've been following their work for years and I know that their opinions are rock solid.
3:02And I'm hoping to get their perspectives on some players that maybe we haven't quite gotten from our crew here on Fantasy Football Today.
3:09Bob, you're the older one of the two. I am.
3:12I give you the floor first. How are things going at Football Guys?
3:15Things are going fantastic. Staying busy. The serious show is just cranked up this week.
3:19So you'll catch me there five days a week.
3:22And once the season starts, it'll be seven. No, there's no escape.
3:25I apologize to everyone who feels that way. But yeah, it's been ongoing.
3:29Been doing all the best ball drafts, having a good time all offseason long, doing the things we like to do.
3:35So yeah, I'm ready to roll here. I think there's some interesting values going on right now in the fantasy football world.
3:41And I think we'll discuss some in this very program.
3:44We will absolutely go round by round and talk.
3:46Not necessarily pick by pick, but round by round for sure.
3:49Jake, how's life at The Athletic? It is great.
3:52Yeah, you one-upped my joke. I was going to jump in when you said two of the greatest.
3:57And I was going to say, and Jake. And then so to give you your flowers.
4:01And then you made it even better. But yeah, things are good over at The Athletic.
4:06This month is all the breakout series, as I always do.
4:09And it's fun to do these mock drafts, especially with great minds like you.
4:13Two guys I looked up to when I started in this industry, to make that clear.
4:17When I started, two guys I looked up to.
4:20Yeah, and now you're kicking ass and we're not.
4:22So it's great that you chose this path instead of just staying on the sideline and following along.
4:27Thanks a lot, Jake. Okay. Once upon a time, Jake was a fan.
4:31And that's who we got for this draft. 12 fans.
4:34You know that I've been putting together these fans-only mock drafts.
4:37And so this week, we had 12 fans from Fantasy Football Today get together in a draft room.
4:42And this is the draft. Here it is for all to see.
4:45And you'll notice this is the CBS Sports draft room, the draft board.
4:49This is an upgrade for 2026. You guys will love it.
4:52You can easily see who went where, at which pick, which position, all that good stuff.
4:56And we're just going to walk through it round by round.
4:59No surprises in the first round. For those listening, let me break it down for you.
5:04And remember, 12-team, full PPR. Start two running backs.
5:06Start two wide receivers. Start two flex. I always like that suitable lineup better.
5:10Just because you've got more options, a little bit more flexibility.
5:13One tight end, one quarterback. No kickers. No DSTs.
5:16Who the hell needs those positions? Jake could go on for hours about the kickers.
5:20We're not going there, Jake. Zip your lips. We're not talking kickers today.
5:23Here's round one. Jameer Gibbs. Jamar Chase. John Robinson.
5:26Puka Nakua. Jonathan Taylor. Jackson Smith and Jigba. I think that that's going to end up being a consensus top six.
5:32Followed by, and things will get a little weird in a couple of picks here.
5:36Amon-Ross St. Brown went seventh. Christian McCaffrey eighth. Ashton Gentry ninth.
5:39How about Drake London going 10th? Justin Jefferson 11th.
5:41Devon Achan going 12th. That's the first round. There is no James Cook in the first round.
5:46There is no CeeDee Lamb in the first round.
5:49No Chase Brown. Bob, I'll go to you first.
5:51You got a favorite pick in round one? Yeah, you know, like round one is a funny thing because we're drafting everyone at their ceiling, right?
5:58So, you know, you need them to come through and they either will or they won't.
6:03So that being the case, I'm going to say Christian McCaffrey going eight is probably my favorite pick realizing.
6:08Yes, he is older. Over 30, by golly. Yes, he's coming off a 400 plus touch season.
6:13But also, yes, Kyle Shanahan cannot quit him as long as he's in the locked enough right position.
6:18He is going to get the kind of workload that will give him an opportunity to easily outperform that eighth spot.
6:24Jake, you agree? Is it McCaffrey? I had two in looking at this and one of them was going to be McCaffrey
6:30because he fell that far because I think there's an argument that he's the third running back.
6:35You can argue if he's the third running back that he should be inside the top five.
6:39I think the only hesitation is the amount of thought just now in his career.
6:44But I was slightly leaning more like I just really like JSN at six.
6:48I could take JSN myself at four, even arguably three.
6:50We were just talking coming off last year. I don't have a problem with Chase being the first wide receiver.
6:56It's just strange to me. What we just saw JSN do to break out.
7:00It was Nakua and JSN were the top two.
7:02He outscored Chase by quite a bit, that being Smith and Jigba.
7:06So I think the fact that you can get him as the third wide receiver, when I think he's in the conversation
7:12to be up there with Pupa Nakua, I like him at six there.
7:15Yeah, a lot of people do. And people see that Jackson Smith and Jigba after the year that he had.
7:21And don't forget about the half year he had in 2024.
7:24He averaged. And I needed to be reminded of this.
7:27In the second half of 2024, over 17 PPR points per game.
7:30That was the setup for him to go to that next level in 2025 when he averaged north of 20 PPR points
7:36per game as the clear number one target in Seattle.
7:39And I think game script is going to be better for him this year.
7:43I'm real curious about how that offense is going to look in the red zone without Zach Charbonnet, without Kenneth Walker, not
7:49that Walker was a big factor in the red zone.
7:52I wonder if there's going to be a little bit more passing for Jackson Smith and Jigba inside the 20s.
7:57And as for Christian McCaffrey, I wasn't wowed by that pick.
8:00I still see him as a first round guy.
8:03And I think that's the right place to take him.
8:06I'm not going to get into my whole diatribe about the touches and the age and all that other stuff.
8:11You can find that on CBSSports.com or you could Google Dave Richard, Christian McCaffrey, and it should come up right there.
8:17Maybe add fantasy football to your Google search and you'll get it right away.
8:21But when he's had a lot of work previously, he's broken down the years after.
8:25And I said years plural because there was a time that there were two years that he missed or really didn't help fantasy managers because of injuries.
8:33So I'm a little bit nervous about that. I always hate that argument too.
8:37Well, he could get hurt. And if that's the only argument, then you should still take that guy.
8:42And that's why I still see him as a first round pick.
8:45So that's who we liked in the first round.
8:48Who did we hate in the first round? Jake, first word to you.
8:51I think it's hard to really, as Ziggy's getting riled up in the background, I think it's hard to hate anybody in the first round.
8:58As Bob said, we're drafting all at their peak.
9:01So if we're going to be nitpicky here, I say the only one that I don't love because of where he went is Jonathan Taylor.
9:08It's not that I don't think Jonathan Taylor can be Jonathan Taylor.
9:11And here's the thing. If the Colts went 17-0, Jonathan Taylor would be the 101-101.
9:15He'd be better than Daniel Thomason because here's the stat I'm going to throw out.
9:1930 points per game in wins, 10 in losses.
9:22And we saw how bad it was down the stretch.
9:25Those losses, a lot of them incorporated into Daniel Jones.
9:27We're just banking on Daniel Jones. Hopefully, there's still no clarity on if he's going to be 100% for week one.
9:33And then that's one of the biggest, possibly the biggest I can remember for my entire career of the difference between wins
9:39and losses to have that big, a 20-point-per-game gap.
9:42That's an RB1 gap. That's a top-five gap. So it's just the fact that I don't mind Taylor in the first round.
9:48I would just rather take him with the back half of the first round.
9:52So again, we're being nitpicky. It's the first round.
9:54I don't mean to put you on the spot.
9:57And if you don't have this information, just say so.
10:00We can always look for it after the show and then post it on social media.
10:04Do you have the difference in wins and losses for JT when Daniel Jones played?
10:08No, I don't. The drop-off was dramatic. Yeah, it was.
10:11Yeah. Just the overall offensive drop-off was huge. I think that was the problem.
10:15The Colts went from one of the best offenses in football to one of the worst.
10:19And all the big games, the big runs, everything evaporated at that point.
10:23So I tend to agree a little bit. I think Taylor's a little bit high there as well.
10:28But I think there's a handful of guys here.
10:31I mean, you can make arguments as I sat here trying to course through.
10:35Like, Drake London, am I confident in his quarterback situation?
10:37Not necessarily. I would like to see Michael Penix Jr.
10:40in there. We saw the numbers last year were stark with and without Penix.
10:44Although London was hurt during that span, too. And Justin Jefferson, like, I felt like, you know, Kyler Murray would be a
10:50– and I guess, you know, we've seen Justin Jefferson.
10:53He has totally earned the quarterback-proof card. But there is a J.J.
10:56McCarthy exception on that license, right? We saw last year was horrible.
11:00So I'm not sure. And I was pretty convinced Kyler Murray was going to be the starting quarterback until Kyler Murray started Kyler Murray-ing during OTAs.
11:07So I'm a little less confident in that. So I have some uncertainty.
11:10Like, Justin Jefferson has been a great player, a great fantasy asset.
11:14He could well be again. I just – you know, when I look at some of the guys going into second round,
11:20I think, man, I might have played it a little safer.
11:23It's one thing to say, well, he can't do any worse with Kyler Murray than he did with J.J.
11:28McCarthy, but imagine saying he could do worse than how he did with Carson Wentz with Kyler Murray.
11:33Because with Wentz, he was pretty – he was good.
11:36He wasn't Justin Jefferson good. He wasn't 18 PPR points per game good.
11:40I think the number was 16 and a half in those five games.
11:43We can go back like two years ago when what it was, Josh Dobbs, Jared Hall.
11:48We talk about this all the time. Nick Mullins.
11:50I mean, he was wide receiver three with those quarterbacks over like a five-game stretch.
11:54He just needs a competent quarterback. Is Kyler a competent quarterback?
11:58That's a question we kind of have to ask ourselves.
12:00Not now. We don't have to answer it now.
12:03But when camp opens in two weeks, are we going to be hearing reports about Murray getting it and clicking and being in sync?
12:09Or are we going to hear about what we heard about in OTAs?
12:13Jake. I was going to say I did the quick math for you, and I found out so there was a 20-point
12:19per game difference for the entire season just with Daniel Jones.
12:22It was 19.7. Oh, it's a huge difference. Yeah, so basically a huge difference with him without Daniel.
12:27Daniel is basically right in line with what the issues were.
12:30So there you go. Bob, did you say who you hated the most in round one?
12:35Was it London? Was it Jefferson? Is it a tie for first?
12:38If I had to pick one, I would probably go with Jake and say Jonathan Taylor just for how high he went.
12:44I'm seeing him not go that early in drafts, but I can make the argument for him.
12:49So I'm going to go off Jake, and I'm going to go ahead and say Justin Jefferson.
12:54Okay. And I'll say Drake London because I'm a little nervous about how that quarterback situation shakes out, the change in the offense.
13:00I think they might try forcing some passes to other wide receivers.
13:04They're not a ton. I still think London's the guy.
13:06I just don't want to take him in round number one.
13:09So let's kick it over to round number two.
13:12Favorite pick in round two. I'll go first. I love James Cook.
13:15I think James Cook is a first round pick.
13:18Seeing him go in the second round, it made me wish that I had that team because James Cook has been great the last two years.
13:25I worry about the workload that he just had.
13:27385 touches, I believe is the number. That's pretty close to 400 touches.
13:31And for a guy who is as lean as James Cook, it does concern me a little bit.
13:36So when I do draft James Cook, I also get Ray Davis just in case of emergency.
13:41And we have seen Ray Davis play well without James Cook on the field before.
13:45But I thought that that was the best pick in the second round because that's first round value in round two.
13:51Jake Seel, I'm going to go to you first.
13:53Who was the best pick in round two? Because you saw me nodding my head and complete agreement with you is that
14:00James Cook, as soon as I saw him in round two, I'm like, that's my pick.
14:04I'll let Bob argue for somebody else instead of trying to pick somebody else because off the cuff, like I just did
14:10a show yesterday talking about James Cook and everything you said.
14:13Yeah, the touches include the playoffs could be a concern.
14:16But Ian Hardest did something a few weeks ago talking about how like we pick these arbitrary numbers of 373, 80, 400, whatever it is.
14:23So he can cut off and I'm saying you guys are doing this so we can cut off certain names and make it look more stark.
14:30And it's like the count doesn't really matter to me because James Cook still doesn't have a thousand touches for his career.
14:36Like it's not like he's coming off multiple season of this.
14:39And to your point, he actually improved his yards per touch, both rushing and receiving, despite having a hundred more carries.
14:45Everybody's like, oh, he can't have 16 touchdowns again.
14:48OK, so he only had 12. He also had 600 more rushing yards on 100 more attempts.
14:52So I'm not that concerned about James Cook's workload at this point, maybe in two years, but just not yet.
14:58Before I get your pick, Bob, it probably would do some good to actually tell everybody who went in round two, especially
15:04for those listening and not watching on YouTube. So forgive me.
15:07This is how round two went. Chase Brown, first pick around to Saquon Barkley, Derek Henry, James Cook.
15:12OK, so James Cook went after Chase Brown, Saquon Barkley and Derek Henry.
15:16We could talk about that. Maybe not. We'll see what Bob says about who his favorite pick was before we do that.
15:22After those four running backs, plenty of wide receivers.
15:24CeeDee Lamb, fifth pick around to A.J. Brown, sixth pick of round two.
15:28Omari and Hampton, followed by Rasheed Rice. Kenneth Walker, the third, 21st overall, ninth pick of round two.
15:33Nico Collins, George Pickens and the last pick of round two.
15:36And I got a feeling there's going to be consensus on who our least favorite pick is in round two.
15:42Cam Scadaboo of the New York Giants was the last pick in the second round.
15:46But we're not talking about the pick that we don't like.
15:49We're talking about the pick we like the most.
15:51Bob, who is your favorite pick in round two?
15:54It is Cook. But since you guys both hit that, I mean, I think you could make an argument for Nico Collins
16:00going at the tail end of round two. I see him going there a lot.
16:04I think there's more upside there. I could say the same, though, for CeeDee Lamb, A.J.
16:09Brown. I mean, we've seen A.J. Brown get two top five seasons in his career.
16:13Could he do another one in fantasy? Easily, right?
16:15We've seen CeeDee Lamb head into seasons as the wide receiver one.
16:19He could be the best. Cook is the best pick.
16:22But I think there's a ton of great picks here.
16:24But I'm going to go a little bit askew from what you're saying.
16:28Cam Scadaboo is the pick I both love and hate.
16:31I love it because I love him. But, I mean, obviously, I'm going to go all Jeff Ratcliffe here.
16:36I don't walk into Starbucks and pay $12 for my $6 coffee, right?
16:40And, I mean, that's what happened here. So, you hate that portion of it.
16:44But I do love Scadaboo, and I think he is undervalued in normal drafts where you're finding him going around four on the norm.
16:50I think he's a great pick there. This is way too early.
16:54So, I do hate it. But I also, I kind of love it.
16:57Like, if you're a Scadaboo guy, I mean, make your claim.
17:00Go for it. And so, love-hate there. Also hate George Pickens in this round.
17:04You know, players coming off the great, unusually great seasons with some circumstances that may have set him up for it.
17:10I think he's just going a little high. I did the research on how often wide receivers repeat as top 12 PPR
17:16point per game finishers from season to season. There's been one set since 2014, and it was in Minnesota with Diggs and Thielen.
17:23Bengals guys came close last year. They were both top 13.
17:26But if we're drafting George Pickens in round two, it's absolutely close to the ceiling.
17:30I go back and forth, Bob, on whether or not I love George Pickens or like him.
17:35I tend to agree that Pickens would, I think it's okay in this round.
17:38I don't necessarily love it. But the Scadaboo pick sitting at the end of round two just absolutely stands out to me.
17:45I've got my rankings open. I'd like to hear it from you guys.
17:48And then, Jake, I'll ask you which pick you hated the most in round two, assuming that it wasn't Scadaboo.
17:54How do you have the four running backs that went at the top of round two ranked?
17:58It's Chase Brown. This is the order they went.
18:01Chase Brown, Saquon Barkley, Derrick Henry, James Cook. I've got Cook first.
18:04I've got Saquon and Henry back to back. And Chase Brown is actually ahead of those guys.
18:09So for me, it's Cook one, Chase Brown two, Barkley, Henry back to back.
18:13All them top 20 picks in fantasy. Bob, how do you have it?
18:17I have that exactly the same. Although, like, I kind of hope when I'm picking Saquon Barkley that somebody right ahead of
18:23me picks him so I can take Derrick Henry.
18:25Got it. Jake, give me your four, how you have them ranked, and then tell me who you hated in round two.
18:31So I wish I could be different. But, I mean, there's a reason we're together is the exact same orders both of you.
18:38Like, I was chuckling as you listed in the mountain.
18:41I was like, maybe he'll be different than some of them.
18:44But no, the same four in order that you have.
18:46And it's between Scadaboo and Rice just because we don't know as of today.
18:50Like, I just, if this was a month and a half from then, I know that's kind of the easy pick to make.
18:57But, like, if I'm taking a gamble on somebody for a top 10 talent, like, I get it.
19:02But I'm just not going to do it at this point where there's still so much uncertainty that we don't know.
19:08Like, we're going to talk. I don't know if he'll be one of the picks that we hate later.
19:13But the Jacobs situation, you know, it sounds like it's not going to be something that affects this season.
19:18But at the same time, for where he's going, it's just not a risk in July I'm going to take.
19:24Maybe a month and a half from now when we have more clarity.
19:27Can you guys remember a player? And I'm not doing this to quiz you.
19:31I'm just openly asking this question. And if you don't know the answer now, think about it and let me know after.
19:37If someone's watching, put it in the comments. A player that had some off-field issues and then ended up not getting suspended and having a really good year.
19:45Just think about it for a while. Just put that in mind because that's kind of what's happening with Josh Jacobs.
19:51This is obviously a huge off-field distraction for him.
19:54I don't know if it's so bad that he's paralyzed on his couch and he can't go and work out or can't
20:00do all the things that he normally does. He's a professional athlete.
20:03Of course, he's preparing like he's going to play this season.
20:06But it makes me wonder how often it's been, and it's obviously been rare, when a player's had this terrible off-season issue
20:12and then he goes out and he has a monster year.
20:15And so if you guys have some ideas on who that is, let us know in the comments.
20:20Let us know in the chat, whatever it may be.
20:23I will say I was pretty encouraged by watching Rishi Rice sprint away from reporters at jail.
20:28He seemed to be moving quite well. Which did you like better, that or Malik Nabors running in a softball game?
20:34Which one is more impactful for your fantasy analysis?
20:36That's a very generous use of the word running.
20:39Right. Yeah. I think that cost him about a round of ADP, that one single thing.
20:43Here we go. Dave, I cheated with chat GPT on this.
20:46Oh, that's so brilliant. In the past 25 years.
20:49No, 15 years. Sorry. 15 years. So Adrian Peterson, 2012, came off the ACL, but a lot of off-field questions about his future and ran for 2,100 yards.
20:56And then Tyreek Hill in 2023 had all that stuff with the marina and legal scrutiny and then led the NFL in 1,800 yards.
21:03Yeah. 1799. He went nuclear that year. But there's two in the past 15 years.
21:07Two damn good players, too. At least at the time, they were amazing and nobody really, everybody was buying into just how talented they were at the time.
21:15And they weren't as worried about the off-field issues catching up with them.
21:19All right. When we come back, round three, our favorite picks, our least favorite picks, we'll do the same thing in round four.
21:25And then we'll talk about draft builds from the first four rounds.
21:29Plenty more to come from this fan mock draft on Fantasy Football Today.
21:32You may have noticed in the first two rounds, no tight ends, no quarterbacks.
21:36That changed in round three, but not at the top of round three.
21:40People at the 2-3 turn did not gravitate toward those positions.
21:43Instead, here's how round three shook out. And again, this is for the listeners everybody watching has already seen who was taken in round three.
21:50So thank you for being patient with me. Listeners, pay attention.
21:53Chris Olave, first pick of round three, followed by Jeremiah Love.
21:56Zay Flowers, third pick of round three. Josh Jacobs, just got done talking about him.
22:00He went in round three. That's 20th overall on Jacobs.
22:03Josh Allen off the board at 29. Brock Bowers, the first tight end, 30th overall.
22:07Devontae Smith, 31st. That's 3.7. Trey McBride after that.
22:09Followed by Brees Hall, Travis Echan, Tee Higgins, and Emeka Abuka.
22:13So I've got five wide receivers. I've got four running backs, one quarterback, two tight ends.
22:17Jake, who's your favorite in round three? Ooh, round three.
22:20I like a lot here in round three. That's the problem is I'm looking at this and like, man, I want to
22:26pick like five or six different guys. But I mean, for pure value, I'm going to have a slight lean to Devonta
22:32Smith just because we've seen the numbers with and without A.J.
22:35Brown. He's been a top 10 wide receiver with A.J.
22:38Brown and a top 10 wide receiver without him in those games.
22:41And you add the splits. You find any side out there that has the splits and he's putting up 15, 16, 17 points per game without A.J.
22:49Brown. And now we all talk about this offense under Sean Mannion potentially opening things up back into the passing game with
22:55Jalen Hurts, more play action and all this type of stuff.
22:58And he's now the number one. So I think that Devonta Smith in this range is why I like him.
23:03But like I said, this is this is almost as nitpicky as round one.
23:07I like a lot in this round. Are you OK taking Devonta Smith over both tight ends just generally speaking?
23:13So, yes, but also because I think later in the draft, I think Loveland isn't far from them to get him at the discount.
23:20This is kind of looking ahead and jumping ahead here.
23:22But to get him at a discount of around round and a half in general, this is much closer than I normally seen it.
23:29But to get him later at what I still think is the tier one of those three tight ends.
23:34That's why. Got it. Bob, your favorite in round three.
23:37I'll go with Bowers. And Devonta Smith was in the conversation for me for all the reasons Jake said.
23:42But, you know, a little uncertainty with the offense.
23:45I think Clint Kubiak showing up in Las Vegas with that, you know, Shanahan style offense is going to serve.
23:51And Brock Bowers obviously being the best player in that receiving core, de facto wide receiver one.
23:55And I don't see him lasting this long. I think I was interested to see both him and McBride lasting in the third round.
24:02I don't know that I've seen that in a single draft that I've done this year.
24:06And I'm probably up close to triple digits in drafts.
24:09I have rarely seen it as well. I'm always looking for the second of those two tight ends, whichever one I get second.
24:16I feel like it's great value. You saw Gamer Eric in the chat say that he'd be doing cartwheels if he got Brock Bowers at 30th.
24:23I would be doing cartwheels if I could get Trey McBride at 3.08.
24:27I think that that's the best value. And I'm still a McBride believer.
24:30I still think that Arizona will target him a ton.
24:33I love that it's LaFleur now calling the plays in Arizona.
24:36I'm not huge on Michael Wilson. I'm not huge on Marvin Harrison Jr.
24:40I think McBride's the best target and after catch.
24:42Well, not necessarily after catch in terms of like speed, but just power and making plays, being a factor closer to the goal line.
24:49I think he's got all that going for him.
24:51And I think it would be very smart of Michael Floor to keep leaning into him.
24:56And as long as Jacoby Brissett's the quarterback, whether it's for eight games, 10 games, 17 games, we know what his tendency is to lean into tight ends.
25:04And McBride certainly proved that last year once Brissett got onto the field and in the game.
25:08I love Zay Flowers, the talent. I didn't like him going at 303.
25:12I think that's maybe close to a full round too soon.
25:15As excited as I am about Declan Doyle being the new play caller in Baltimore, I still can't help but feel like
25:21there will be some spreading of the ball. We know that he's not a huge factor in the red zone near the goal line.
25:28And it's going to be a lot of big plays.
25:31And he's just, he's always been around 6.5 to 6.8 targets per game.
25:34And that's good. He's going to be good for fantasy.
25:37He's a top 16 fantasy receiver, but I don't see him as a round three pick.
25:41So that was my least favorite pick. I see that Devante Smith went after him.
25:46Higgins, Abuka. I'll take all three of those wide receivers easily ahead of Zay Flowers.
25:50Bob, do you have a least favorite pick in round three?
25:53Same as you. And I felt like until you went through your entire diatribe there, I felt like, man, I'm going to
25:59be exposed for my blind spot with Zay Flowers.
26:01I feel like I've had that since his arrival.
26:04Yeah. And so, you know, you look at the numbers last year.
26:07I mean, this isn't that crazy a pick, but I don't, it's my least favorite of this round.
26:12And I'll say I'm McBride. You know, I don't like paying the historic premium, you know, when a player comes off that
26:18historic season because they're hard to repeat. But I do think that, you know, in the third round, that's pretty, pretty good value.
26:25The question is about Bursette. He's not going to get a go one and 11 this year.
26:30He's going to need to win some games. Yeah.
26:32Their schedule is impossible. I don't know if you've looked at it.
26:35I'm not going to read it to you. You can go find it.
26:39Pause our video. Go find the Cardinal schedule and then come back to us.
26:43It is T-U-F-F tough. Jake, is it three for three on Zay Flowers?
26:47No, I don't mind it as much as you guys do, but it really comes down to I'm trying to put myself in the 303 position.
26:54And being like, yeah, Devante Smith, T-Higgins, Ibuka. I would agree with you.
26:57I would argue for them over him. But, you know, if you feel like he has the slight edge, you're not going
27:04to get him on the way back. That's such a slow or a long layoff to have your fourth round pick.
27:09And so if you're thinking wide receiver there, like I just I'm just trying to, like, give team one a little bit of a pass there.
27:17I don't hate as much as you guys. So mine is actually more and it only has to do because of today
27:23and what we all assumed was going to happen.
27:25It's not that I hate Trevor Achan. It's just the fact that Kamara is still around.
27:30And I know Kamara is washed at this point.
27:32We can make the jokes of what he is.
27:35But at the same time, we're talking about Achan going from the Jags to the Saints.
27:39And I know the Saints impressed last year for what people thought they could do.
27:43But I would still call it a downgrade in the offense.
27:46And I still think having Kamara around means that the workload we saw him get with the Jaguars will probably be similar.
27:53I know they paid him all the money, but I think that was the money expecting of higher workload if there was no Kamara.
27:59So it's just the fact that looking this is one you just did looking behind him.
28:04I'll take both the Williams. I'll take Swift. I'll take Judkins if he's healthy.
28:08That's a big question as of today. I would even probably have a tough time.
28:12This is two rounds later. Probably have a tough time between Montgomery and Etienne.
28:16Or Achan as of today. I almost had it three for three saying his name right now.
28:20He almost got there. We're all getting used to it.
28:23It'll take a year for us to get it right.
28:26But we've all got it with his younger brother in Carolina.
28:29We're already calling him Achan as well. Did everybody ask the brother if Travis is telling the truth?
28:34Let's move forward. Let's go to round four. We're going to give our favorite pick, our least favorite pick in round four.
28:40And then we're going to talk about the builds in round four.
28:44Here's how it shook out. The first pick of round four.
28:47And we talked about that tear break between the top two tight ends.
28:50And then Colson Loveland. It definitely feels like Loveland is a consensus tight end three in fantasy this year.
28:56It wasn't that much. He was the first pick of the fourth round.
28:59He was followed by Kyron Williams, Garrett Wilson, Ladd McConkie, Javante Williams, Malik Neighbors.
29:03Sixth pick of round four. That's 42nd overall. Luther Burden went right after him.
29:07Terry McLaurin went right after him. DeAndre Swift. And then the round ended with Quinshot Judkins at 10.
29:12Lamar Jackson at 11. Drake May at number 12.
29:15So two quarterbacks to end the round, a tight end to begin the round, four running backs, five wide receivers sandwiched in between.
29:21Jake, who was your favorite pick in round four?
29:23Man, I love four of the first five picks.
29:26Garrett Wilson, I don't mind, but he's not. The other four are the ones I love.
29:30I love Lynn. Like I said, I love getting the discount.
29:33I thought my projections are crazy, but the last time I thought they were crazy was when Lamar Jackson has MVP season
29:40and he ranked out as the number two quarterback.
29:42He should have been number one. I actually pushed him down.
29:45My projections when I did him spat out Loveland is number one.
29:48I still don't know if I would take him number one at tight end.
29:52But again, I go to that argument of I think there's a big three.
29:56But Kyron Williams there, I'm just I feel like I've done this for the past three years.
30:01Everybody's talking Blake Corum now. Well, Blake Corum, what if he gets 40% of the touches?
30:05He had 39% last year. The 1% is going to make the difference.
30:09The Rams are going to continue to use Kyron Williams the way they use content to continue to use him, especially the
30:15goal line and one of the best offense. He's going to get the touchdowns.
30:19He's going to get the touches. I understand Kyron and the fear of Corum, but the good news is you're not taking Kyron in the second round.
30:27You're taking him in the fourth. And I would do that every day.
30:30If you could sign me up on all of my drafts and just say, Jake, you don't have a fourth rounder.
30:36It's always Kyron Williams. I would take that today.
30:39His PPR per game average has actually declined three straight years.
30:42Last year, it was 15.5. But if you look at the 11 games, including the postseason when Corum was playing 30% or more of the snaps.
30:49So that's lower than 40%. But there were some games where he was around 40%.
30:53A few where he was even higher. He was averaging almost 16 PPR points per game.
30:58And that was on two and a half targets per game.
31:01He had 11 total touchdowns. Touchdowns, a big part of Kyron Williams fantasy profile.
31:05That was my favorite pick of round four. Was it yours too, Bob?
31:08No, many aggregators have told me that's going to be a 50-50 split.
31:12Come on now. No, I do like the pick.
31:14I'm going to go with the other one. I'm going to go with Javante.
31:18Average 19 opportunities a game. Double-digit touches in all 16 games.
31:2162 red zone touches. Fifth most among running backs.
31:24Ranked pretty highly in targets. He's in the top 12 in running back targets as well.
31:28And I think we're getting a good discount on him.
31:31I know there's some Jaden Blue buzz, but it's not like Blake Corum like buzz.
31:35So I'm going to go in on Williams here.
31:38I like either of the Williams. I think this was a target-rich round.
31:41There's an awful lot of players I liked a lot that went in this round.
31:45And I think Williams, who finishes what? Running back 12 last year?
31:49Right in running back one territory? I think he's a great value here.
31:52I think this was a good value too. I like the Kyron Williams value a lot more.
31:57But Javante certainly still at the top of that depth chart for Dallas.
32:01He is also a little bit touchdown dependent. And you saw it in the first half of the year.
32:06His first eight games, 18.6 PPR points per game.
32:09Man, he was looking like he was just going to be the runaway Cinderella pick of the fantasy season.
32:14He had nine touchdowns to help him in his last eight games.
32:17Only four touchdowns and 11.8 PPR points per game.
32:20The dude needs to score touchdowns in order to come through.
32:23My least favorite pick in the round. Again, I agree with you guys.
32:26I thought round four was stellar. I didn't love DeAndre Swift going at nine in round four.
32:31I think he's more of a round five pick.
32:34It's a little nitpicky of me to say that.
32:36But I really liked a lot of the other players.
32:39I was even okay with the quarterbacks going when they went.
32:42I'm always a fan of waiting until you get a quarterback at a steal.
32:46And I felt like Lamar Jackson and Drake May with their upside and the weapons they have in their offense.
32:51And certainly with what Lamar can do with his legs.
32:54Yeah, we're talking about two guys that are steals when you're getting them in round four.
32:59They're both capable of finishing as QB1. So a little bit of a nitpick to say DeAndre Swift, but a guy who's
33:05going to be sharing carries right up there to the same level as what we talked about with Kyron Williams.
33:10Except he's not guaranteed the goal line work as much as Kyron is.
33:14And I kind of like Monongai in some ways better than Swift.
33:17Maybe it's just because I'm a Swift hater and I've never been a huge DeAndre Swift fan.
33:22And last year, he proved me wrong and I had to kind of get on board.
33:27But even so, I feel like 45th overall, just a little bit too rich for my blood.
33:31Bob, did you even have one? There's no one I hated.
33:34I'm going to go with push on Junkins because it's like the Zay Flowers kind of thing.
33:39I just have a little bit of a blind spot for Cleveland Browns in general.
33:43You know, I'd rather, but, but I do think he'll have a great role.
33:47I think in Swift's case though, the argument is, are they going to make him a more integral part of the passing attack?
33:54Like he was in Detroit under Ben Johnson. I think quite a, I don't know if it's double the targets, but he got more targets.
34:01I think the Bears think there's more room for him there.
34:04But he, he too had the good fortune of touchdowns last year.
34:07So a little bit concerning, but I'm going to go with Junkins.
34:10It sounds like he's healthy. They've upgraded the offensive line.
34:13Todd Munkin ran the ball like crazy in Baltimore.
34:16There's probably a lot to like about this yet.
34:18Still, I don't feel comfortable with it. I mean, there was a reason why he ran the ball crazy in Baltimore.
34:24Yeah. Derek Henry, that's a pretty good reason. I don't know if that's necessarily something that's, that's tracked with Todd Munkin over the course of his career.
34:31I'm frantically looking for my notes on it. Yeah.
34:34And 2025, eight times a running back at 15 plus PPR.
34:37That's low for Baltimore. Only eight times it happened.
34:40Derek Henry didn't have a great year till the end of last year.
34:43In 2024, it was 13 times. Again, we're talking about Derek Henry.
34:472023, Baltimore. This is before Derek Henry got there.
34:49Only six times. A lot of Gus Edwards. How about that poll?
34:52Gus Edwards back in our lives. 2019 in Cleveland, eight times a running back did it.
34:572018 in Tampa, five times. So I'll stand by my comment when he doesn't have Derek Henry, not necessarily a guy that's
35:03going to lean into the run game. That being said, I do think volume will work in Judkins' favor.
35:08And it does look like he's going to be healthy to start training camp.
35:12And that's really an important thing. Jake, did you tell me who you didn't like in round four?
35:17No. And I hate this pick. And there's only one pick in this round that I absolutely hate.
35:22I don't disagree too much with either of your picks.
35:25But Malik Nabors, there's no way I'm taking Malik Nabors in the fourth round.
35:29I'm not taking him as a top 20 wide receiver.
35:32I actually have him at 26 in my rankings.
35:34And it's kind of a way of saying, I'll take him as my third.
35:38Now, let me say this. Because of the team who took him, it kind of makes a little bit of sense because he's the fourth wide receiver.
35:46You can afford to do that. I'm purely more looking at value if only looking at the fourth round.
35:51And I have another six or seven wide receivers, including both the guys right behind him.
35:55Jalen Waddell, McMillan, sneak preview on possibly loving that pick the next round.
35:59Watson and others. It's just like, there's just no way because there's so much uncertainty.
36:03Like, does he start in the pup? Is it six weeks?
36:06Is it four weeks? Is it back to Saquon Barkley?
36:09And I know he was a giant at that time.
36:12But where even if he's ready for week one, we don't even see 100% of what Nabors can be until October.
36:18So I just, I hate taking him in the fourth round.
36:21That's really the issue. If I told you that he would participate in two weeks of training camp and that from week
36:27seven on, he would average 15 on the dot, 15 PPR points per game.
36:31Where are you drafting Malik Nabors? Is this about the right spot?
36:34No, I would go one more round. I would keep him right around where I have him at like 25, maybe move him up to 22.
36:41Again, because at that point, that's six weeks that I got, I'll have him as my wide receiver three.
36:47Because wide receiver three is going to be volatile anyway.
36:49I just don't want him as my two or to leave value, especially at running back or another position on the board to make that pick.
36:57That's a long way to wait. The roster construction is the key here.
37:00I mean, it works for this team. But I think in general, if you're counting on him to be one of your
37:06frontline players, you better be ready to chill for a month or so and figure it out.
37:11Speaking of roster construction, let's talk about the builds.
37:14A lot of different ways to go about building your team this year.
37:17Is there, which pick, one through 12, had the build that you liked the most, Bob, from the 12 drafters in our mock?
37:24I like team six. I thought he did a great job.
37:27I like the start with Smith and Jigbo, Murray and Hampton, Brock Bowers, Luther Byrd in the third.
37:32We're all going to take Ben Johnson's word for it and put our money on, make the bet on Luther Byrd to
37:38emerge as kind of the Amon Ross St. Brown role in that offense.
37:41Then this is going to be a great start.
37:44I watched Luther Byrd's playoff film yesterday because I'm just trying to get just as good of a sense as I can
37:50about how they used him late in the year.
37:53They were obviously comfortable using him late in the year as a rookie.
37:56He was getting the offense. He was getting the playing time.
37:59He had a lot of third and fourth down targets.
38:02So those money downs, those got to have it plays.
38:05Caleb went to him and sometimes it worked out and sometimes it didn't.
38:08The two, I didn't love his physicality. There were times in the Green Bay game where defensive backs were just absolutely mauling
38:15him in his route and the play was over.
38:17Like he couldn't get off press coverage. I don't know if he's got the strength to consistently improve on that and be better at that.
38:24But boy, the speed, the quickness. I think he's got good hands.
38:27Obviously, that's an offense that's going to throw a lot.
38:30There were a lot of layup targets for him, those easy short throws.
38:34And he can make guys miss, man. He's got that agility that can help him make the first guy miss.
38:39And that adds yardage after the catch. That encouraged me on Luther Burden.
38:43It's why he wasn't even close to being the worst pick in this round and why I'm comfortable taking somebody who really
38:49didn't have a great stat line and only had a few highlight plays throughout the course of the season going in round four.
38:56So I get where you're coming from. And I like that build, too.
38:59It wasn't my favorite. Before I tell you my favorite build, Jake, which one was yours?
39:04Oh, Matt SF, 49er fan, UK. That sounds like from overseas.
39:07Sounds like pick 11 in our mock. Yeah. Yes.
39:09Pick 11, Jefferson, Higgins, and then Barkley and Kyron.
39:12I mean, I went on and on about getting Kyron as your two after you already had three picks in Jefferson and Higgins and Barkley.
39:19And I know we talked about Jefferson earlier in the show.
39:22But if Kyler is even 90% Kyler, that's still 100% better than anything they threw out there last year.
39:27And to get Jefferson back to being the top 10 wide receiver with Higgins, who, if healthy, is top 15, and then
39:33Barkley and Kyron, I would take that start every time.
39:36You can tell me if I'm cheating here or not, but we talked about already the receivers that we would take over,
39:42Zay Flowers, if we could do this draft again.
39:45Devontae Smith, T. Higgins, Emeka, Buka. Not necessarily in that order.
39:48But if I can get team three that got Bijan at three, Nico in round two, a different wide receiver than Zay
39:54Flowers in round three, and then even Quinshawn in round four, I'm good with that build.
39:58I like the idea of running back and then the best two receivers you can find because that position gets a little
40:04murky by the time you get to round six and round seven.
40:08And then your second running back, I think that it's fertile ground for good RB2s once you get to round number four.
40:14So I don't mind that build. I also don't mind – you don't have to be balanced.
40:19But when you are balanced after four rounds, it just gives you leeway to go in any direction you want, and especially
40:25best player available if you're doing value-based drafting. You've got the opportunity to pick great values after round four.
40:30So I'm a big fan of what team three did.
40:33As far as like a build that I hated and how I wouldn't want to start my team a certain way, I
40:39didn't like pick nine taking three running backs to begin their draft.
40:42And then look at the wide receivers that they had.
40:45It was only Ladd McConkie. I know we're supposed to only look at the first four rounds.
40:50But when you start your draft with three running backs, and yeah, it's two flex.
40:54You can start all three, and that's fine. I feel like you're going to leave yourself short, and it's kind of like a zero wide receiver build.
41:01I don't know if we can necessarily say that with Ladd, but I don't view Ladd as a hero wide receiver.
41:07So unless the team drafting at pick nine thought that Brees Hall was a screaming value in round three, I just don't like it at all.
41:15And I don't know if I'd even love it if it was Kyron Williams that he took in round three.
41:20I could definitely see, especially because if you look at it, I think we'd all feel better about that team with Jinty
41:26Cook, Higgins McConkie, Ibuka McConkie, something like that, just for the balance.
41:30I'll just jump in and say the one that I hated the most was for twofold.
41:34It was actually pick four, Nakua, and then Walker, Jacob Swift.
41:37And it's not even because of the Jacobs. I still wouldn't love it if we knew Jacobs was playing the full season.
41:43It's the fact that I hate when people have a distinct advantage of the position, and that's what you had with Nakua,
41:49and then you threw it out the window by not taking a wide receiver.
41:53And we are looking ahead. We're cheating, but not until round six.
41:57And we'll talk about when we get to it who his second wide receiver is.
42:01But you've basically thrown away your value in Nakua.
42:03You had an advantage over at least 10 teams, and now you don't at wide receiver because you went running back, running back, running back, running back.
42:11And it's not even the best collection of running backs.
42:14So I love the first round. I just don't love how you consistently made that roster behind them.
42:19A simple yes or no here, Jake. Nico Collins, George Pickens, Chris Olave, how many of those receivers would you have taken over Kenneth Walker in round two?
42:26All three. Okay. Interesting that it's all three. Bob, same question to you.
42:30Same answers. All the same answers. Same receivers ahead of Walker.
42:33Also, the same thing about the build, right? And I'll say that I feel like the recovery was pretty good once we got the later rounds.
42:40And I like some of those players. But I'm with Jake.
42:43I think you get Puka Nakua, and then you forget the position.
42:47It's like a hero wide receiver doesn't work for me.
42:50What also didn't work for you? Is that just your answer?
42:53Is that team three blew it? No, it was team four.
42:56Rouse team. Oh, team four. My bad. No, I like I'm not.
42:59I just I don't know that I love the values of the running backs either.
43:03I think there are players I would have taken ahead of each of them in each round that were available.
43:09So, yeah, I think that's more of the problem.
43:11I don't like the build in general. I think that's I think the way Jake laid it out is probably the problem for me.
43:18And if we look into the fifth round, go another running back.
43:21That kind of adds to it. I want to give props to everybody who drafted for not reaching for quarterback and for
43:27for not drafting a quarterback in a tight end on the same team in the first four rounds.
43:32You really shouldn't do it in the first five rounds.
43:35One of the teams did. But it's just one of those little nitpicks that I have.
43:40There are so many good running backs and wide receivers.
43:42It's OK to take one quarterback or one tight end.
43:45I don't like it when a team takes two with their first five picks, but not reaching at quarterback or tight end.
43:51In fact, there was great value at tight end, especially with Bowers and McBride props to the 12 drafters that did that.
43:57Let's let's move forward with round five. And we're just going to do the same thing in round five that we did in the first four rounds.
44:05Favorite pick and least favorite pick. Here's who went in round number five.
44:09Ted Arroyo McMillan. Got a feeling we're about to hear about him.
44:12That's 49th overall, followed by Bucky Irving at 50th.
44:14I wonder if we're going to hear about Bucky.
44:17Jalen Waddell at 51st. That's the third pick. David Montgomery.
44:20Travion Henderson. Joe Burrow after that. Those are your first six picks of round five.
44:24Basial Tootin makes an appearance at 55th overall. That's the seventh pick.
44:27Christian Watson, Devonta Adams after him. A couple of tight ends after that.
44:31Tyler Warren and Sam Laporta go in late round five.
44:34The last pick of round five. DJ Moore now of the Buffalo Bills.
44:37Jake, Ted Arroyo McMillan, your favorite pick? I'll let you guys have that one.
44:41So I'll speak about somebody else because I feel like that's the easy one.
44:45I think we're all going to love Ted Arroyo in that spot.
44:48But so I'll throw out David Montgomery and get in the fifth round.
44:52It's not that I think David Montgomery is going to be a top 12 running back.
44:57But we're walking into a situation that was able to produce one of the most efficient running backs in Woody Marks.
45:02Still having RB2 value because of the workload given.
45:05And what we all expect, I know it could go sideways still, but we all expect this team is going to look better on offense this year.
45:12I think the touches are there. I think we're going to be looking at 260 plus.
45:17Do I think it's 300? 300? No, but it would shock me if he got to 300.
45:22And then if he does get to 300, even if it is volume reliant, 300 touches for the Texans will have you pushing that RB1 conversation.
45:29So I think it's just about the fact that Montgomery in the fifth is basically like where we always should have been
45:35having Montgomery for the longest time, even when it was with the Bears.
45:39And now you can take them there and get that upside.
45:42And like I said, I was more so leaving it for you guys to wax poetically about Ted Arroyo in the fifth round.
45:48Bob? I'm not. I'm not going to wax poetically.
45:51I'm not either. I'm not either. Wow. I'm going to go with the best goal line back in all football, Mr.
45:56Devontae Adams. He's been consistently productive over the course of time.
45:5914 touchdowns in 14 games last year. Pukenakua doesn't get the goal line looks.
46:03You look at 27 Enzo targets, nine more than any other player last season.
46:07And so finished wide receiver nine overall. That was his ninth top 10 finish in 10 seasons.
46:12I didn't see signs of slowing down other than the missed games and all I'll deal with those if I have to.
46:18I love that pick. I am on par with Montgomery.
46:21I'm on par with Ted Arroyo and McMillan. My favorite pick in round three was Jalen Waddle.
46:26And people who've been watching FFT since March know that I love the landing spot for Waddle in Denver.
46:31I do think it signals him being the alpha number one receiver there, seven targets per game as a floor.
46:37The touchdowns I worry about Corlin Sutton still there.
46:39They've got some guys that can work at the goal line.
46:42Bo Nix can use his legs. So that's, that's, that's a step back.
46:46But we've seen Jalen Waddle win at all three levels in many different ways over the course of his career in Miami.
46:52And he's had really bad quarterback play the last couple of years.
46:55And he's been overshadowed by Devon A. Chan, Tyreek Hill.
46:58And I don't think there's anybody overshadowing him in Denver.
47:01So I think he's just landed in a great, great opportunity.
47:04He's actually my favorite pick in round five. And I know I'm going to be able to get him in round five in a lot of my leagues.
47:12I view him as a wide receiver too. That's my favorite pick in round five.
47:16But there were some picks in round five that made all of us go blah.
47:20And they were gross. And I don't know if there was one that was really that bad for me.
47:25There were a couple that were just like, eh, I don't think I could do that.
47:30And for me, it was Sam Laporta. I just think he's around six pick.
47:34Felt like you were reaching a little bit. Maybe you could tell me that the team at pick 11 took Laporta then
47:40because he thought that maybe the team at pick 12 would take him.
47:43But why would the team at pick 12 take him if they had already taken Colson Loveland at the top of the fourth round?
47:50So he could have waited until round six. He could have taken Jayden Daniels in round five.
47:55I guess I would have been kind of okay with Daniels in round five.
47:59But either way, I just feel like it was a little too soon for Sam Laporta.
48:03I did like a lot of the picks in this round, to be fair.
48:07Bob, do you agree? Was this a good round for fantasy managers or were there some picks that made you go blah?
48:13Nothing made me go blah. I mean, I felt like all these I could defend all of them.
48:18If I was looking to nitpick a little bit, Sam Laporta would be one.
48:22I might nitpick on Christian Watson a little bit.
48:25Just wondering what the roles are going to be.
48:27There's this year. Jaden Reed becomes the best receiver on that team, even though he's already the best receiver on that team.
48:33Just not recognized as such. Oh, no. So that'd be a question.
48:37Like all these other, you know, like Basial Tootin.
48:39I mean, you could make the argument that you're getting a great value here if he takes over the lead role or he's the primary back here.
48:47So, yeah, I don't have a lot of complaints about this round in general.
48:50But Laporta might have been a little too early.
48:53I wonder if the training camp hype really gets out of control on Tootin.
48:57And he ends up being a fourth round pick because people just get overexcited over the devil they don't know.
49:02And there's a pretty good track record. It's short, but it's a good track record of running backs under Liam Cohen blowing up and having a big year.
49:10Travis Echan last year. Bucky the year before that.
49:13Sure. And once upon a time in college, it was Chris Rodriguez.
49:16He had like 1,400 total yards, a bunch of touchdowns at Kentucky.
49:19Totally different game, different level of competition. But still, you saw the running back get a lot of work.
49:25Jake, who are you hating on? I don't hate it, hate it.
49:28But I'd say Joe Burrow. I just don't want to be taking this pick knowing.
49:32And again, some of it's probably hindsight for the people in this draft.
49:36But knowing that there was similar quarterback values, in my opinion, around two rounds later.
49:40And that's just really what it comes down to.
49:43It's hindsight-y. But also, when you knew that weight came after Alan May and Jackson, I just don't want to be the
49:49first person to pull the trigger on that. And like I said, it's nitpicky, but I just don't love Burrow there.
49:55I get it. But the fact that we like a lot of the picks in round five, or at bare minimum, in
50:01the case, from my perspective, and I'm sure the other guys too, Montgomery, McMillan, at least it's on par.
50:06This was a good round. And I think you could expect a lot of these picks to be there in your drafts
50:12when you get to round five, assuming that training camp hype doesn't go out of control one way or the other for any of these guys.
50:19So let's close the door on round five. Let's open the door on round number six, which started with Jamison Williams.
50:25Excuse me. It says Jay Williams in our draft room.
50:28I should have looked to see if it was a wide receiver from Detroit.
50:32J-Mo, first pick around six, followed by Jaden Daniels.
50:34Jadarian Price, third. Mike Evans, fourth. Carnell Tate, fifth.
50:37Tony Pollard, the sixth pick, 66th overall. Tony Pollard with Tennessee.
50:40So a couple of Titans back-to-back. Alec Pierce, he'll play the Titans twice this year if he's healthy.
50:45He went seventh. Jalen Warren, eighth. Parker Washington, ninth.
50:47That's another AFC South player. Roma Dunes, eighth. Marvin Harrison, junior, 11th.
50:51And Chuba Hubbard running back at the Carolina Panthers.
50:53Last pick of round 12. Jake, who do you love?
50:56It's funny. Now we're getting to the range where it's like, oh, I like one third.
51:01I don't really like one third of them. Yeah, yeah.
51:03Round five was all puppies and rainbows and unicorns.
51:06And now we're in the gutter. I would say my favorite, and I might be on an island.
51:11It seems like I am so far with this opinion, but I think it's kind of weird that I am.
51:16I love Jaden Daniels here. And I say that to say the island is, it was weird to me that we're drafting
51:23Jaden Daniels as a top three, top four quarterback last year after what he did as a rookie.
51:28And knowing the rushing potential and knowing that this offense might do more than just one thing now that Kingsbury is not at the helm.
51:35And everybody's just like, nah, I don't want Jaden Daniels anymore.
51:38And so I get it. If you don't want an injury risk quarterback, fine, then why are we still doing it with Lamar Jackson?
51:44So I just look at the upside of somebody who could, if he finished as the number one fantasy quarterback, I wouldn't bet on it.
51:51But I don't think it would absolutely shock and floor everybody.
51:54To get him in the sixth round, I think that's great value.
51:58He definitely has the upside. Bob, is he your favorite too?
52:01No, I'm going to be the old people supporting old people.
52:04Come on down by Kevins. I think we're totally dismissing the history of production.
52:08Granted, injuries, age, new location. We're talking about a guy who's been wide receiver two or better in 11 of his 12
52:14seasons, including six wide receiver one finishes. He's going to be the alpha receiver in a Kyle Shanahan offense.
52:19I know he's not an ideal fit for this offense.
52:22Clay Kubiak, though, saying all the great things, saying they want to feed him when he's in single coverage.
52:27And I do think Brock Purdy has shown he's capable of throwing to big receivers over the middle.
52:32So maybe that compensates a little bit for the less than perfect fit.
52:36But I think we're basically paying for the floor and totally ignoring the super high ceiling.
52:40I'll give you a stat you'll love and a stat you'll hate on Mike Evans.
52:44The stat you'll love. It's the one I love.
52:47We think that he's probably going to play a lot in that Jawan Jennings type role.
52:51Jawan Jennings had nine touchdowns in 15 games last year.
52:54About one every six catches. That's pretty badass. The fantasy production at the end of the day didn't match because he didn't get a ton of targets.
53:02And that's where the bad news is. 49ers history, just four wide receivers have seven or more targets per game in Shanahan's nine-year tenure in San Francisco.
53:09And only two of those four average 15-plus PPR points per game.
53:13All of them had 13-plus PPR points per game.
53:15And I think if you're drafting Mike Evans here and you're expecting 13 PPR points per game, you'll be good to go.
53:21You'll be happy with that. So I don't know if that's my favorite pick.
53:25I really – I'm falling for Parker Washington, guys.
53:28And you can try and talk me out of it and say that Brian Thomas Jr.
53:32is going to be the new alpha in Jacksonville.
53:35But I just love the way he improved as the season went on and how he had that rhythm and chemistry with Trevor Lawrence.
53:41There's a lot of mouse to feed in that offense.
53:44We don't know how good that run game is going to be.
53:47I think Washington proved that he can work all three levels of the field.
53:51He might be reliant on the first two levels.
53:54I don't know how many huge plays he's going to have.
53:57But I think the target volume is going to be there for him again.
54:01He was my favorite pick in round number six.
54:03My least favorite pick in round number six was Jalen Warren.
54:06I have absolutely no idea how the backfield is going to split up in Pittsburgh.
54:11I've talked about it on FFT before, but Rico Dowdle was brought into the NFL by Mike McCarthy.
54:16He had a major injury. Mike McCarthy did not cut him with an injury settlement.
54:20He let him rehab. And then eventually, Mike McCarthy gave him his first opportunity to play in the NFL, and Dowdle didn't disappoint him.
54:26He earned him a contract in Carolina. And now here he is reuniting with McCarthy.
54:31McCarthy, he's going to know what McCarthy wants from his run game.
54:34And his stats, his efficiency metrics were almost on point, if not a little bit better, depending on which stat you're looking at, as Jalen Warren's.
54:41I don't have a problem with Warren. I just think taking him in the sixth round was a little bit too soon.
54:47You guys can agree and disagree with me on that one.
54:50I do prefer whichever Steelers running back you can get second.
54:53It's going to end up being Dowdle, especially in PPR leagues.
54:56And if I end up with him later in the draft, then I'm happy with it.
55:01But I think it's just too soon to take Jalen Warren.
55:04Bob, your least favorite pick in round six. I'm going to go with Warren as well, although if you wanted me to,
55:10I'd make an argument against Marvin Harrison. Sure. Don't know that we'll see the breakout, right?
55:15I just said, again, I have questions about how this team is going to fare, who the quarterback is going to be.
55:21I mean, it's going to be Jacoby Brissett until it's not.
55:24My only thought is, you know, all the success people have with Jacoby Brissett, they need to realize it came on a 1-11 record in his 12 games.
55:32That's not going to stand this year. They're going to make a switch to something else, and we'll see how that works out.
55:38So I don't love Harrison, but the bigger point that you made, I always feel great in drafts when I come out
55:44with the cheaper option in these situations. Across the board, right?
55:47Like, I mean, just whatever it is, if I feel like I'm getting the discount, I'm super happy about it.
55:53So I think if you look at this round in particular, like Chuba Hubbard, I'm going to feel the same about him.
55:59If I come away with a ton more Jonathan Brooks, I'm going to feel super good about that.
56:04I'm going to, well, I think the price has changed on Rashad White and Ja'Cory Krosky-Mera, but getting White cheaper for a while, I loved.
56:11I'm taking a ton of Mondray Stevenson way later than Travion Henderson, just because I am.
56:15I mean, I think the Patriots would agree with me.
56:18So I like the cheaper half of these deals, these package deals.
56:21There's a lot of ballgame left between now and late August on all of those backfields.
56:26So there's a lot that we have to learn.
56:28Jake, spew some venom. Who do you not like in your mind's text?
56:32Well, we can make it three for three on Warren.
56:35Warren, actually, to everything you said, I just said on a podcast yesterday and the fact that I actually think even if
56:41you just take it at face value, that Dattel fits slightly better than Warren does in the McCarthy offense.
56:46The only pushback that I've seen, and I would kind of agree with, is that because it's Aaron Rodgers, you do want
56:52the better pass blocker, and Warren is shown to be a definitively better pass blocker.
56:57But, I mean, if that breaks the tie, then I'll happy to be wrong.
57:00I want the biggest thing you guys said. I want the discount.
57:04I'll take whoever's going later. Anytime we have a messy backfield, give me the discount guy.
57:08I will bullet point real quick, agree with you on Parker Washington.
57:12I do think that it's just, it's Trevor Lawrence's style.
57:14It's the Liam Cohen's offense style. By the time Brian Thomas is 15 yards downfield, Lawrence has already made a decision eight
57:21out of ten times, and it's not Brian Thomas.
57:23So, that one, I'll give the one more, one little pushback.
57:26I don't hate Harrison as much as you guys, mostly because here's what it is.
57:30If you told me Brissette was starting 17 games, I don't care about the win-loss.
57:34It's just, does he start 17 games? Because he actually treated Harrison as the one in those starts with a healthy Michael Wilson.
57:41So, I'm not saying it's a breakout, but now we're taking Marvin Harrison at the end of the sixth round.
57:46John, I'll invest in that, but you're also investing hoping, I agree with you on this part, that Brissette is actually the quarterback for the full year.
57:54Yeah, that could be a problem. And again, we're drafting, it's the same thing that I said about Mike Evans.
57:59If you're drafting these guys hoping that they finish in the top 12 at their position, I don't know if they can do that.
58:06But can they be startable? Certainly wide receiver threes, maybe wide receiver twos.
58:10Yeah, I think they can do that, and I guess round six is okay.
58:14We're going to take a break, and then we're going to do round seven, round eight, and our favorite teams from this mock draft.
58:20Stay tuned. Producer Thomas is going to kill me after the show, guys, because he told me, we have the private chat,
58:27and he told me, you know, after round five, take the break.
58:30And I just went right through his order and went right into round six.
58:34So, I think Adam Azer's job is pretty safe.
58:36But I digress. This round seven, three tight ends to start round seven.
58:40I'm going to give you the names. I'm going to give them to you in alphabetical order before you actually, this is
58:46for the listeners because everybody can watch it. And Jake and Bob have already seen it.
58:50But Harold Fannin, Tucker Craft, Kyle Pitts. Those were the first three.
58:54Quickly rank them for yourselves. Go ahead. Go ahead.
58:56We'll wait. All right. We're done waiting. Here's how they went in our draft.
59:00Pitts first. Tucker Craft second. Harold Fannin third. They were followed by Wandale Robinson.
59:04Rico Dowdle. Went to the same team as Jalen Warren in this draft.
59:08Interesting. Brian Thomas Jr. Went with the sixth pick in the round.
59:11Then we had J.K. Dobbins. Jalen Hurts. Jordan Tyson.
59:14One of those things is not like the other.
59:16R.J. Harvey. Quinton Johnston. And the last pick in the round was Chris Godwin.
59:20Jake, who'd you love from round seven? So, initially I was going to be like, oh, wow.
59:25Fannin. Because I think he could lead the team in targets and be the number one option.
59:29Even as questionable as that quarterback situation will be.
59:32But then at the chance that we get Kraft 100% for week one, like Kraft at this point, even if this is a little bit different than neighbors.
59:40Because Kraft, if we knew was 100%, he'd be going up there by like Loveland.
59:44But we're getting a three, four round discount on those other tight ends because we don't know for sure.
59:49And that's where similar was my argument for neighbors.
59:52If I was getting that kind of discount, this is one I would do every single time.
59:56Because if I have Kraft and I missed for the first two weeks and play fill in off the waiver wire, no problem.
60:03I'll throw out my second favorite is that I do think that Dobbins is going to be the same problem again.
60:09But Harvey's gotten so much hate now at this point because everybody's afraid of Dobbins and Sean.
60:13He's now at the end of the round seven.
60:16Like, do you really think Dobbins is going to make it through the whole year?
60:20And like Jonah Coleman, sure. Like, whatever. How many times do we have to do the Sean Payton rookie running back experience
60:26where like, I just, I'll take RJ Harvey in the fourth round.
60:30You guys remember this two months or three months ago now that's been this summer's flying by before the draft when he was going there.
60:37Like that was, that was too much. But now that everybody has gone complete 180 on him.
60:41Now I'm invested in RJ Harvey. I've seen him go later than this.
60:45I've seen Harvey go later than, than round seven in mock drafts.
60:48And just quick point of reference on Tucker Kraft before he got hurt.
60:5214.7 PPR points per game. Hold on, on five and a half targets per game.
60:56Whereas Harold Fannin finished the year 11.7 PPR points per game.
60:59Still nothing to sneeze at a tight end. He had 6.7 targets per game.
61:03And so here we are coming off of a season where Kraft was just way more efficient.
61:08One of the most efficient tight ends that you could have asked for in fantasy.
61:12And he's going in the same spot as Harold Fannin.
61:15And I think if, if we love where Tucker Kraft is at physically and the reports are glowing out of green Bay,
61:21and then you tack onto that, the fact that Romeo Dobbs is out of there, uh, who all the Dontavian Wicks is out of there.
61:28They've consolidated the receiver room a little bit. Yeah.
61:30You could see Tucker Kraft making a meteoric rise in round seven would absolutely be a gift.
61:35Bob is a tight end. Your favorite pick in round seven.
61:38Yes. And it is Kraft. And I've done some math.
61:41You're, you're welcome. That's usually not my strong point, but let's go with this.
61:45Are we sure this math is correct, Bob? I'm relatively certain this math is close.
61:49Like the Packers have a pretty conservative training staff and they follow some rigid procedures.
61:53Christian Watson tore his ACL January 5th, 2025 return to action October 26th, 2025, 294 day turnaround, about nine months, 21 days.
61:59Kraft ACL torn on November 2nd, 294 days from then is August 23rd.
62:03Absolutely possible. He will be ready week one. I'm drafting it like he will be.
62:07I always worry a little bit about players coming back from a torn ACL and it felt like Christian Watson was the exception and not the rule.
62:15And maybe that's changing. Medicine's getting better year by year.
62:17I, I do have fan and ranked ahead of Kraft.
62:20Don't hate me for it. It's in pencil. It's based on Kraft.
62:24Probably I'm thinking anyway, getting off to a slow start, but by far same one, one of the better picks in round
62:30seven, I did not mind the fan and pick.
62:32I like getting fan and I would take, I don't mind any of those tight ends where they went.
62:37Yeah. I mind pits. I think he's terrible. Let's get to the least favorite pick of the round.
62:42I don't think Jordan Tyson is terrible. I think he's certainly injury prone.
62:46Too many injuries in college. First year in the NFL won't be the number one wide receiver.
62:51Don't see a pathway to him getting north of seven targets per game.
62:54Don't see him with a pathway to getting to 12 PPR points per game.
62:58I felt like round seven, 7.9 81st overall was just too soon for Jordan Tyson long-term.
63:03I think he's going to be really good as long as he stays healthy.
63:07But for this year, I kind of don't want him.
63:10I'm looking at him as more of like a round nine type pick.
63:13I a hundred percent agree with that. And he, he is my pick that I don't like, Oh, by the way, this
63:19is, I think of all the drafts I've done, uh, this is the first time I've seen JK Dobbins go ahead of Harvey.
63:26Uh, that's not been the drafts I've been in.
63:28And I do like JK Dobbins. I don't feel like this is a horrible price, uh, but I want to go give
63:34the cam scatterbo junior award to one Dale Robinson, who I love, but don't love this price.
63:39Would like to get him where he's going closer to ADP.
63:42This is a little ahead of that, but I do think he's in a really good spot going, uh, showing up with
63:48his old friend, Brian Dable and an offense. Look, I think Cardinal Tate's going to be perfectly fine.
63:53I think this offense is going to improve a little bit and cam Ward is going to be a big part of that.
64:00And if he is, then one Dale Robinson is going to have another really solid year.
64:04Um, I'm a sucker for one Dale, Bob. I love the targets per game and it's not just last year.
64:10It's the year before that too. Yeah. And then that was when Malik neighbors went crazy and his numbers for PPR weren't
64:16great, but when we're drafting him in the middle of rounds, I don't want them in non PPR.
64:21I'm not really cool with him in half PPR, but full PPR.
64:24If he's going to get eight targets per game, he can have a spot on my fantasy team and potentially be my number three wide receiver.
64:31He's in that range of guys that I could see getting 12 PPR points per game, not because of touchdowns, not because
64:38of yards, but because he's going to catch six or seven passes every single week.
64:42And I think Tennessee's game scripts will help him out.
64:44Jake, who do you not like in round seven?
64:47Um, with both of you and that I don't love, I don't really hate Robinson or Tyson in this range.
64:53I'd rather wait, just looking at why receivers going after him.
64:56There was a quite a few names that I would take before they come off the board, including Josh Downs at the end of round or round eight.
65:03Um, so I'll go a little bit different. I don't love the price in Quentin Johnston.
65:08And I know that they, you know, they gave him the fifth year, but that's not a new contract.
65:13I think that's kind of playing in like, okay, if we see him build off of last year and he is this, we're getting ahead of the game.
65:21So we don't have to make this huge contract decision next year, but I'm also looking, you know, and it's not that I'm scared of Brennan Thompson.
65:29It's just, I know who Mike McDaniel is. And I know like what he wants to do with his wide receivers and how he schemes them.
65:36I'm not sure that Johnston fits a hundred percent.
65:38And if he gets off to a slow start and I'm not saying he can't do it in McDaniels offense.
65:44I just don't know if he gets off to a slow start that you start seeing Trey Harris or Thompson or other
65:50people worked in because of what Mike McDaniel does.
65:52So given that risk against there's just other names after him, I would take before I start thinking Quentin Johnston.
65:58Last year, Quentin Johnson got off to a white hot start, a lightning bolt of a start.
66:0319.9 PPR points per game. He had nine targets per game in his first four.
66:07And then after that reality set in and he averaged 11.8 for the rest of the way on 6.4 targets per game.
66:13That was very much in line with his 2024 average.
66:16So when you draft Quentin Johnston, we can make the upside case.
66:19We can make the downside case. Jake just did.
66:22I think that you think about the high 11s, low 12s and PPR points per game as not quite the ceiling, but certainly above the norm for him.
66:30That's what you have to think about when you draft Quentin Johnston.
66:33And the other thing that I think about, and I think a lot of people overlook this when it comes to Mike
66:39McDaniels offenses, is that he plays at a slow pay.
66:42It's so slow. And maybe part of that had to do with Tua and that he just like, he had to do
66:48everything in his power to kind of insulate Tua from taking too many hits.
66:52And maybe he changes that because he's got Justin Herbert and he's got a world-class offensive line when healthy.
66:57But I do worry that Mike McDaniels is going to stick with utilizing the run game.
67:02And I think Harbaugh is going to ask him to do that and playing at that.
67:06I was going to say, Harbaugh was already one of the lowest in plays per game to begin with.
67:11Right. Like, you know, like, how does it get better?
67:14I almost, I almost imagine before Harbaugh offered McDaniel the job, he said, you're going to run the ball and you're going to take it slow.
67:21You're not going to put your foot on the gas unless we're losing late in the game.
67:26You got it. And Mike McDaniel spent eight minutes explaining that he got it.
67:30And then he agreed to the contract and now here he is running the chargers.
67:34But honestly, I'm glad he's there. It was my favorite offensive play caller change of the off season, him going there.
67:40I think it's going to end up working out great, but I think it's going to end up working out great, especially for Hampton and for Herbert.
67:47Herbert, I'm still kind of unsure about McConkie taking a big step forward.
67:51And you just heard what I had to say about Quentin Johnson.
67:54I think he'll be good, not great. Speaking of great, a word that rhymes with that is eight.
67:59And we're in round eight. This is the last round that we're going to give our favorite and least favorite picks in.
68:06And it started with Ja'Cory Kroski-Merritt followed by Jonathan Brooks.
68:08This feels like the earliest I've seen Jonathan Brooks go to going with the second pick in round eight.
68:14That's 86th overall. Jaxson Dart, Justin Herbert, back-to-back quarterbacks after that.
68:17Makai Lemon at 89. Rashad White after that. That's pick 90.
68:20Kyle Monungai after him. And then the back half of round eight, Cortland Sutton.
68:24Isaiah Likely. It's interesting. Ramondre Stevenson. We've talked about him.
68:26Bob likes him. Jacoby Myers. And then the last pick, round eight.
68:30I feel like on Fantasy Football today, we talk about Josh Downs every single show.
68:34And so we've all gotten real excited about Josh Downs.
68:37I felt like this was a little bit late for Josh Downs.
68:40It was my favorite pick, especially in a full PPR.
68:43I think he can return wide receiver three value, maybe even sneak into the top 24.
68:47But I'm curious, Jake, which player was your favorite in round eight?
68:51I love almost this entire round. Just this eighth round values are just supreme.
68:55I guess it's just really if you're picking the guys that we like.
68:58I think Jonathan Brooks is starting. Not quite. Like you said, it's kind of the earliest I've seen, too.
69:04But I think that the biggest question with him is if he's 100% the talent we knew, he could take the job without an injury.
69:10And I think that's why people are drafting him.
69:13So I think there's going to be a breaking point, though.
69:16Like another round, round and a half. And now it's like you're buying.
69:20Basically, it happens within weeks, not even halfway through the season.
69:23So I think the dart value is great just because if he actually stays healthy.
69:27I mean, it's weird that all these sites and I'm coming for CBS.
69:31Every site does it. Every site counts the first two games that he stepped on the field.
69:35He stepped on the field for like five plays.
69:38If you take those two games out, he averaged 20 points per game.
69:41He was a top five quarterback. So the injury risk is real.
69:45But I think the upside of Jackson dart is real as well.
69:48White, my non guy could take the job. I wouldn't bet on it, but it wouldn't shock me if that happens.
69:54So, yeah, I'm just going to talk to Josh Downs.
69:57I brought him up earlier. I said sneak preview.
69:59I think Josh Downs, people are kind of overlooking that he's going to be the number two.
70:04And he's had blips of being the number two when asked and at times has shown that he has the upside to be the guy.
70:11Actually thought you go all the way back to Anthony Richardson and he had games where you saw, oh, wow, you know,
70:17Josh Downs, if he had the volume, could be the guy.
70:20So with the volume being there, and this is with or without Daniel Jones, you just basically Wandel Robinson, in my opinion,
70:26at a round and a half discount and possibly even better.
70:29So the receivers that went in round five, Jake, Wandel, Brian Thomas Jr., Jordan Tyson, Quinton Johnston, Chris Godwin.
70:35How many of those receivers would you be OK taking ahead of Josh Downs?
70:39Two. And it's like only because Godwin sounds like he's 100 percent healthy.
70:42It's fine. Like, I don't think we finally saw him from last year.
70:46But if you wanted to argue Downs over Godwin, I would say, OK.
70:49And then, you know, I would take Thomas just in case we're wrong, just because the pure innate talent of Thomas is what it is.
70:56And what if Collins like, you know what? That was stupid of me.
71:00Maybe I'll use him in the slot some. Maybe I'll treat him as the number one as he can be.
71:06Because if Thomas gets back to 120 targets, even with Lawrence, I mean, we're talking about the talent is better than anybody on that team.
71:12It's just whether or not it clicks. So but Downs.
71:15And again, if you want to take Downs over, I'll put it this way.
71:19I'm going to kind of reverse your question here.
71:22If you took Downs over all of them, I wouldn't say you're crazy.
71:25I would agree. Mr. Harris, are you down with Downs?
71:28Yes, I am down with Downs. I think what we've heard of the talk we've heard leading into heading into training camp,
71:34Shane Steichen, talking about using him inside and outside.
71:37I think that's going to enhance his value. I know people who cover the team talking to, you know, the beat writers on the regular.
71:44I know James Boyd from The Athletic has been really high on him the last couple of years.
71:49And the role just hasn't quite materialized. I think the vacated targets of Michael Pitt McGon work in his favor.
71:54There's a lot to like in this round. And I think when you look at the round overall, you could say this
72:00is like depends on how your roster is constructed, what player you might like the best here.
72:05Like if you needed a solid running back to hello, Ramond Ray Stevenson, I would take him running back 22 last year on a points per game basis.
72:13I think this is a nice discount. Jonathan Brooks, if you have some really solid starters ahead of him and you want
72:19to swing for that upside play, as Jake said, maybe, you know, one of the most talented back in the draft the
72:25year he came out if he would have been healthy.
72:28Um, so I mean, there's, there's a lot of Rashad white, super solid receiving asset.
72:32Could he gain the starting role? Yes. I liked that.
72:35He went cheaper than your Corey cross key merit.
72:37I'm not against our guy, Bill. I just haven't seen it more than a couple of games.
72:42Right. Yeah. And now they're asking him to put on weight, Bob.
72:46Right. That's always a, that's always a little bit of a tell.
72:49So, so yeah, I, I'm probably my favorite pick here.
72:52Like another swing for the fence guy might be Isaiah likely there.
72:55If you think that he can finally make use of his talent freed from the specter of the great Mark Andrews looming over him.
73:02Apparently, uh, he never could move ahead of him.
73:04So I'm, I'm a little bit torn. Jake might be right.
73:07Jackson dart might be the best value of this bunch.
73:10If he plays at last year's level and can stay on the field.
73:14Dart sure like throwing to his tight ends last year to 22.8% target rate to tight ends, nine career games for Isaiah
73:20likely when he's had at least six targets, 12.5 or more PPR points.
73:23In eight of the nine games. My goodness. If he averaged 12 and a half PPR points, then he would help you win.
73:30Not an accident that he was brought over. I think John, or this is not a coincidence that John Harbaugh on him.
73:36And the same with Patrick Ricard, by the way, thank you for scam cam scatterboot.
73:40Uh, I mean, these are, these, these weren't happy coincidences, but.
73:43But if John Harbaugh brought Isaiah likely over, I would ask Harbaugh, what the hell happened?
73:48Why didn't you use likely more? Mark Andrews happened.
73:50Well, all right. And I guess that's part of it, but you could still run an offense where both those guys would do fairly well.
73:57There were just so many games where Isaiah likely left us holding the bag.
74:01And I think that's why he's going as late as he's going.
74:04I like getting him as a settle for tight end.
74:07I've got him as a top 10 tight end.
74:10I do think he's got upside. Um, but he wasn't my favorite pick in the round.
74:14Downs was lemon was my least favorite pick in the round, which, which it's, it stabs me in the heart.
74:20I have a pen. I'm going to stab myself in the heart.
74:23I hurt myself. Oh my God. I literally took a pen and hit myself in the heart.
74:28Um, I love his talent. I don't see the Eagles offense supporting two wide receivers and a tight end.
74:33I just don't think they'll throw the ball enough.
74:36I love Smith too much. Uh, hurts is still a, you know, top five type.
74:40Of fantasy quarterback. Lemon's a great talent, but not at a hundred percent.
74:43No TAs. Hopefully he'll be a hundred percent for the start of the season.
74:47I'm sure he will go through some rookie struggles.
74:50He will be a good fit for what they're doing.
74:53I just don't want it. This is too soon for me.
74:56He's in that same range as Jordan Tyson. I'm thinking about him in round nine, round 10.
75:00I would not take them here. Bob quickly, your least favorite pick in round eight.
75:05It was also lemon easily by far. I mean, the old, of all the picks here, I, I could probably make an argument for Krosky Merritt.
75:12If he, if you wanted me to pivot off, off your guy, just because like the hype was so insane last year.
75:18I know talking to a lot of the writers who were responsible for some of that hype, you know, some of them have pretty good reasons.
75:25Like, you know, I think Ben standing told me he thought that in season that, that one of the big problems for
75:31Krosky Merritt was that Jane Daniels and Terry McLaurin weren't on the field.
75:35Right. And then if all the pieces were there, this would have been great.
75:39And then, you know, I can't say he was wrong.
75:42I just don't know that I'm buying into it.
75:44Jake. Yeah. I actually don't mind the Makai lemon pick, but I've been on the record of being a lemon supporter and
75:50what this offense can do under the changes. That being said, what you said actually concerns me, Dave, is that I've been
75:56on the record at the health, like a rookie not being able to get on the field.
76:01And if this continues all the way into the season and he doesn't get a ton of practice time, you have to
76:07move him down and not take him in the eighth round.
76:10So outside of that, I think I feel like Jacoby Myers is the odd man out.
76:15Like, I just like, I know he's been great and reliable and he's always there and he's always overlooked for his entire career.
76:21But it's like, if we're wrong on Parker Washington repeating, and it is Brian Thomas, or if it's Brian, like either way
76:27you look at it, it's just like, it just feels like he's always the third on that team.
76:32And so like, I just don't see where the value is.
76:35He feels like one of those picks in this round where it's like, Hey, I can use them during the bye week.
76:41And if that's a pick, then I don't want it.
76:44Cause where's the James Gladstone told me his superpower was catching the football.
76:48Come on. That's important. What a shocker. Yeah, definitely important.
76:51But I feel like every, almost every wide receiver has that superpower.
76:54Brian Thomas, not so much last year. Yeah. I'm married.
76:57Not in Jacksonville. All right. If we kept doing this for rounds nine through 14, people wouldn't listen and we'd be wasting our time.
77:03So let's just go to it and talk about which team was our favorite team after the first day round.
77:09So put your blinders on. Don't look at round nine or later.
77:12If you guys listening want to see who was taken round nine beyond go to youtube.com search for fantasy football today.
77:18You can come and find our video. You will see the draft board.
77:22It is beautiful. It is on the screen. You can pause it as many times as you want.
77:27You can write it down till your heart's content.
77:29You will see who went in rounds nine through 14.
77:32And there are a lot of sleepers in there.
77:35We're just not going to be able to get to them today, but your favorite team through eight rounds, Bob Harris, which one is it?
77:42I think it's a drop back. Like it's hot.
77:44What number is he? He's nine. That's pick team.
77:47Pick number nine. Yeah, I think I'm going to go with that just because I like the late run of.
77:52So James Cook, great value. Brees Hall. I'm more in on, I think, to the world.
77:57I was arguing with Howard Bender about this last night.
77:59You know, like, oh, they're telling us he's going to be in a 300 monster.
78:04They told us that last year when it seemed way more realistic with Tanner Enkstra coming over to say that they're going to copy that Detroit offense.
78:11And then what do we see? Brees Hall get the most carries of his career.
78:15And they just paid him $43 million like that.
78:18Like the wide receivers here. Love the Adams Evans picks.
78:21I'll overlook the Tyson, but think he fared well with Justin Herbert.
78:24George Kittle could be a top five tight end once he's back on the field.
78:28That comes after week five. So a lot to like their Bo Nix.
78:32You know, some of the backup players are fine, but I like the top of that roster.
78:36All right. At some other point, we're going to have to debate Brees Hall because I'm not as big of a fan
78:43on him, which is not going to do it today.
78:45It's his third running back. Yeah, I get it.
78:48But there are also some really good wide receivers who could have taken in.
78:52Maybe Brees could have made it back to him in round number four.
78:55Not if he's drafting with me. Not if he's drafting with you.
78:59But you weren't in this draft, Bob. You were doing who knows what.
79:02You're a maniac. I don't even want to know what you were doing.
79:06Jake, you're less of a maniac. You are a much more rounded, civilized man.
79:10Which team was your favorite? Yeah, I was thinking I might go back to the 11th pick with Matt SF.
79:15But team 12 made a real push for it.
79:18And just by having Loveland where he does and the old Godwin is his fourth wide receiver.
79:23Krosky Merritt is a mix of that backfield. Maybe he wins out as your third running back.
79:27But it ended up being the third pick, surprisingly enough, by the time we got to this point.
79:32Because the B. John Judkins, Stevenson as your third, which might still be the better value as we saw at the back
79:39half of last year than Trevion Henderson. I don't think a lot of people are banking on that happening.
79:44But another one that wouldn't completely shock us. And then your fourth wide receivers, Odunze, with one of your favorite picks, which I agree with, with Jalen Waddell.
79:52So you have Collins Flowers. Even if you don't love Flowers, Waddell Odunze, you're arguing that you could have the best quartet of wide receivers.
79:59If Malik Nabors was healthy, that team would. But that's an amazing group to have also Fannin already at your tight end position with those other weapons.
80:06And I know we're not looking later into his draft, but he addresses his quarterback position, which a potential QB one.
80:12I think through eight rounds, it's that the third pick is looking really good.
80:16I liked team three. But I think the team that I like the most, and maybe I'm talking out of both sides
80:22of my mouth because I'm not a huge fan of McCaffrey.
80:25I'm not a huge fan of Makai Lemon, but it's going to be team eight that took McCaffrey in round one.
80:31I loved the value. What can I say? I'm a sucker for a good deal.
80:35Love the value of CeeDee Lamb going with the 17th pick overall in the draft.
80:39Trey McBride, 32nd pick of the draft. Jalen Hurts, round seven, pick 80 for Jalen Hurts.
80:44You're stealing from the league. It's not fair. All is fair in a fantasy draft when they let value go to you.
80:50I don't like the Lemon pick, but I like the rest of those first seven picks a lot.
80:55My favorite team was pick number eight. My least favorite team, I already talked about how much I didn't like the Drake London pick in the first round.
81:03So it's going to be pick 10. They reach for London, reach for Jardarian Price, reach for Harvey.
81:08Kind of a reach. I do get the upside case for him.
81:11I do get a little bit nervous about how effective he'll be in an offense that might be a little too run heavy.
81:17That's just kind of how John Harbaugh rolls. I thought he got good value at Garrett Wilson, Tyler Warren.
81:23His team could have been James Cook in round one, Lamb in two, Abuka in three, Javante Williams in four, Tyler Warren in five.
81:29What a start that would have been. And then he could have had one of Evans, Tate, Parker Washington in round six,
81:36Bill in round seven, Josh Downs in round eight.
81:38I like that team the best. The team that I just built and made up.
81:42I wish you could have done that. I wish you would have done that, but he didn't do that.
81:48He went in a different direction. So that's my least favorite team is what pick 10 did.
81:52I don't know how you guys feel about that or if there was another team that you didn't like, but if either
81:58of you say, if either of you say pick eight, I'm going to fight you.
82:03Team 11. No, I thought team 11, like all these teams, like if I ended up playing with them, I would probably,
82:09you know, it would not be the worst thing that ever happened to me because I can tell you some horrible things have happened to me people.
82:16Um, but in general, I think, uh, team 11, you know, the Justin Jefferson, I mean, I didn't love the value Saquon.
82:22We need him to have a big year in new offense.
82:25He, I mean, it's kind of uninspiring. And then we got to the sand before I do like the Kyron Williams pick.
82:32Like I said, there's some things I like on this, uh, but, and maybe Jonathan Brooks, if he comes through, uh, but
82:38downstream, even I'm not as big, a big fan of most of these picks except Jake Ferguson.
82:42I love this year. People are totally missing Jake Ferguson.
82:45And if you've got, if you want to know why he likes Jake Ferguson, why he liked some of the other players
82:51that we didn't really get into, you can always find Bob Harris on football guys.com.
82:56He's one of their leading analysts, Jake, your least favorite team.
82:59Yeah, I'm going to go back to the neighbors team and I know it can work right.
83:03And basically it is a zero RB approach and it could crack look to and if he's top 20 pollard, if it's
83:09under Dable top 20 or Dobbin stays healthier, Rashad White is the leader that back.
83:14I feel there's a lot of ifs, but zero RB ish.
83:17And a lot of it banks on neighbors being a hundred percent.
83:20You can't deny that St. Brown, AJ Brown and Devante Smith is a great trio.
83:24And if neighbors is healthy, I mean, that's then I, you know, you go zero RB with that.
83:29I have no problem with it. I just think there's a lot of questions coming out of this draft and again, kind
83:35of cheating, but looking at the, how he finished out the draft, I don't think it came together perfectly.
83:41And it really comes down to, you know, seasonal best ball.
83:44One thing to try and go zero RB still these days, but seasonal, when you're looking at the fact that Brian Robinson,
83:50Woody Marks, Tank Bigsby, Pacheco, Manuel, all there, we can't really do zero RB anymore because everybody's too smart and they're all these guys already taken.
83:57So it just, the makeup through eight rounds, I don't love it.
84:00And, but I'll be honest, it's not as bad as I thought it was going to be once we got to the eighth round.
84:07So it's, it's not that I actually really despise this team.
84:10It's just, he gets the slight edge of the team that I like the least.
84:14That was the team I was going to go with, but I felt like, you know, for what was trying to be
84:20accomplished here, it was done well for what it was.
84:23Maybe I don't prefer this kind of build. Yeah.
84:26I wouldn't do it, but I thought the, I thought the, the Tootin, Pollard, Dobbins, White, I thought that run right there.
84:32I mean, if it, if he hits on two of those being top 15, 16 running backs, that team's going to be one of the best.
84:39Yeah. I just don't know which, I don't even know if he's got one.
84:43Right. That's the question. Like Tootin is the one you can make the case for.
84:47I've seen Rashad White put up a running back four season, sir.
84:51Yeah, you're right. That's a good point. If anything happens to him.
84:54Over the past three seasons, number three or number four in receptions and for running backs.
84:58Yeah. Yeah. He definitely has that role on lock.
85:01I don't know if Bill can catch. And also this is a guy that Jay Daniels is familiar with.
85:06He played with him in college, et cetera, et cetera.
85:09So that connection will be there between the two of them.
85:12Jake had so many interesting takes. You can read more on his takes at the athletic.
85:16Both these guys also have podcasts, radio shows. You can download the SiriusXM app and you can hear Bob there.
85:22Jake's got his own show. Jake, do you have one show or two shows?
85:26I don't even remember. One show. I guess spot on fancy pros regularly, but the one show is the all on speed run.
85:32I keep it to 20 minutes or less because you got to find that little bit of time when we're overloaded in this industry.
85:39Do you hate me that I kept you for 80 minutes?
85:42No, because we went 80 minutes. You know who's going to kill me for this is Adam.
85:47Your producers. The producer is not going to be happy with me now for two things.
85:51You know what? He's just going to kill me.
85:54He never really 100% falls through with like all the bets and stuff that you do on the show.
85:59So like he can, he can take one of the chin, like they, like when he barely shaved his head that one
86:05day for Nando, like, like, come on. I didn't barely shave your head.
86:09Either you do or you don't. Nando gave a ton of money to St.
86:13Jude. If he would just cut a line in the side of his hair and he like on the side of his head and he barely did one.
86:21He can borrow one of mine. You guys are the best.
86:24I'm so glad you came on. And I'm so glad that we were able to review this mock draft.
86:29And more importantly, there are so many takeaways that we have from, from this draft to give you the viewer, the listener.
86:35And this is just the beginning of fantasy draft season.
86:38It's here. Well, it's in two weeks, but it's almost here.
86:41So I really appreciate you guys being here. And I hope you guys appreciate the knowledge that you've gotten.
86:46And you're a little bit better when it comes to drafting your fantasy teams this fall for producer, Thomas Schaefer, Sammy Davis and Bob Harris and Jake Seeley.
86:54I'm Dave Richard. This has been fantasy football today.
86:56Golly. 84 minutes. Azer will really, he's going to try.
86:59He's going to try and punch. It's not going to work, but he's going to try, but I appreciate you.
87:05I appreciate y'all being here. I hope I just didn't say a bad word.
87:09Thanks for coming. No mind's evolution is back on Paramount plus.
87:12Do you think it's possible to discern some hidden pattern shared by all serial killers with a new killer each week?
87:18I see those wheels turning. When a copycat killer emerges, the BAU will form a dark alliance with a familiar foe.
87:23Elias, would you help us? This season, evil is contagious.
87:26Once it starts, it can't be stopped. Criminal Minds Evolution.
87:29New season now streaming on Paramount plus.
