Backup running back Khalil Herbert is expected to receive some reps in Sunday's game with Brian Robinson ruled out due to hamstring injury, providing secondary backfield opportunity.NegativeRoleOct 29, 2026
Running back caught passes underneath to help put the offense in striking distance, contributing to the Falcons' methodical, short-area passing approach. Herbert's role in the passing game reflects the team's shift away from relying on the running game to take over, with early-down completions helping manufacture long drives.PositiveRoleOct 27, 2026
Herbert played 11 offensive snaps and 5 special teams snaps in Week 7, and the source suggests the Falcons should seriously consider making him their full-time third running back and promoting him to the active roster; he was useful on offense and did solid work on kick returns, providing valuable insurance for the Robinson backfield.PositiveRoleOct 26, 2026
Herbert showed why he's liked more than the NFL did, nearly dropping a kickoff but still returning it for close to 40 yards, and on a great catch and run early in the game where he nearly scored a touchdown. The source believes if the Falcons have to lean on him for a couple of weeks, he's very much up to the task.NegativeUsageOct 25, 2026
Herbert was involved in the Falcons' offensive attack, taking a handoff for a couple of yards, taking another carry and pushing his way forward for close to eight yards, and rolling past the 40 yard line on a kickoff return (after dropping the kickoff but not letting it slow him), demonstrating some involvement in Atlanta's running game.PositiveRoleOct 23, 2026
With Brian Robinson ruled out, the Falcons will be elevating Khalil Herbert to slot in as the backup running back; however, the team does like to keep Bijan fresh, so Herbert's actual workload remains uncertain.PositiveRoleSep 16, 2026
Added to the practice squad as a veteran third back to replace Tyler Goodson, who departed for Dallas. Herbert has been productive when given opportunities, can catch the ball, and has returned kicks. The source expects he may be elevated this week.
