Saquon Barkley was discussed as a potential trade deadline target for the Bengals at running back, but the source argues against acquiring him. The analysis contends that Barkley's acquisition cost is prohibitive in both salary and draft capital, and that it would be uncharacteristic of Cincinnati's front office to surrender picks for a 27-plus-year-old running back on a big deal. Additionally, the source suggests that swapping Barkley in behind Cincinnati's current offensive line and scheme would not guarantee the elite version of Barkley, given that Chase Brown's struggles appear to stem from blocking and scheme rather than individual talent.
