Gibbs executed multiple plays that exploited Packers defensive weaknesses. He picked up a third down on an outside run while the Packers defense barely reacted to receiver motion across the formation, gaining a 6-on-5 blocking advantage that forced Xavier McKinney to travel 20 yards to make a play. Later, Gibbs picked up Javon Bullard's rush off the edge, giving Jared Goff clean protection and time to expose coverage. On a play-action pitch, Gibbs followed with a run straight into the crowded middle of the field and still gained 14 yards. Late in the game, Gibbs ran the Lions into field-goal range when Green Bay couldn't stop him on the final drive.NegativeUsageOct 25, 2026
Gibbs fumbled late in the first half (the fumble appeared to be caused by Lions center Cade Mays), which Isaiah McDuffie recovered to give the Packers their first takeaway and a chance to cut into Detroit's lead at halftime. Late in the game, Gibbs was stuffed in the backfield by Keisean Nixon on a 4th-and-2 run call from inside the Lions' own 30, though the Packers failed to capitalize on the turnover on downs.PositiveMatchupOct 24, 2026
Gibbs has 504 rushing yards through Week 6 and Detroit runs outside zone on 45.6% of its runs; Green Bay's run defense has allowed 100-plus yards three times this season (including 242 to Atlanta), presenting a favorable matchup for Gibbs to continue his production.PositiveMatchupOct 23, 2026
Gibbs is positioned as an elite-tier running back (Bijan Robinson echelon) who will exploit the Packers' weak run defense in Week 7 at Ford Field; the source explicitly cites Gibbs' elite status and the Packers' documented issues defending elite backs as a key reason to take the over on the 52.5-point total, expecting a high-scoring game.PositiveMatchupOct 23, 2026
The Lions' lead running back will face a weakened Packers linebacker corps without Zaire Franklin. The source describes Gibbs as 'near-supernaturally fast' and notes that Franklin would have been critical to slowing down Detroit's run-heavy attack out of heavy personnel. With Franklin out and replaced by less experienced or capable options, Gibbs has a favorable matchup to exploit the Packers' defensive vulnerability at linebacker.NegativeMatchupSep 10, 2026
Jahmyr Gibbs is an all-world running back who is amazing at everything but pass protection, where he held a 50.5 pass blocking grade at PFF; the Vikings exploited this weakness last season by overloading the line and getting blitzers singled up on Gibbs, resulting in five sacks of Jared Goff in each of their two games against Detroit.
