All Field Gulls insights about DK Metcalf

Metcalf's skill set is very limited and dependent on explosive vertical plays that worked well with Russell Wilson and (to a lesser extent) Geno Smith in Seattle. Late-career Aaron Rodgers is probably not a good fit for Metcalf's strengths, and the current era of two-high coverage shells has helped neuter DK as a vertical threat. While he was one of the most productive receivers in Seahawks history through his six seasons in Seattle, his fit with the Steelers' current quarterback and defensive scheme is questionable.

Metcalf was an unreliable target for Aaron Rodgers in Week 1, with timing issues and crucial drops throughout the game. In the third quarter, Rodgers hit Metcalf over the middle right in the hands and the receiver was not able to bring it in, resulting in a resounding boo from the crowd. This contrasts sharply with Michael Pittman Jr, who caught all three of his targets for 58 yards, raising the possibility that Pittman becomes the main option for Rodgers over Metcalf as the season progresses.
