Kirk is part of the 49ers' receiving group but is getting up in years alongside Mike Evans.

Insight page

Christian McCaffrey

NegativeProjection0:39

Insight page

Christian Watson

PositiveProjection19:25

Christian Watson's on/off numbers are crazy, with the Packers offense being a top-two offense since he entered the league, making him a natural pairing with Jordan Love's skillset.

Cody Ford has not been great but provides experienced depth on the Bengals' offensive line.

Insight page

Davante Adams

PositiveRole0:08

0:21The Mina Kimes Show featuring Lenny, the only NFL podcast who one of the hosts thinks Mbappe is what his mom does
0:28to his nose when he's being a bad boy.
0:31That's Lenny. I mean it, guys. It's the World Cup, but we're still talking football, American football.
0:36I am dialed into the World Cup. Are you locked into the World Cup?
0:40I am. I'm very dialed in. I had to turn off my TV.
0:43Like everybody, you know, there's the USA and then I feel like most people have a second team.
0:49Yeah, but it was cooler when I barely knew soccer.
0:5220 something years ago. I got into soccer via video game and via the 2006 World Cup, kind of O2 and then
0:58the O6 World Cup was really when I got into soccer.
1:01And we played where you, me and my friends was like, you can't play as Brazil.
1:06So you got to pick someone else. So I picked Germany.
1:09Like that was like some underdog team, you know, that never wins.
1:13So kind of sort of Germany, but that always feels a little bit cheating because they're like a little too good.
1:19But who cares? A lot of American fans pick powerhouses in soccer, especially with the EPL.
1:24So I feel okay. As of this recording, Spain is tied with Cape Verde.
1:28I doubt that'll be, that'll hold, but that's crazy.
1:30Mine's obviously Korea who had a great first win.
1:33So very exciting. All right. American football. Today is a very fun podcast.
1:37We are here to rank as I do every year, the top 10 offenses of 2026.
1:42Nate and I said, by the way, Nate, by the way, if you don't know, you should know, is the host of
1:48football 301, which is an excellent podcast. You guys should go check out wherever you get your pods.
1:53We texted a little bit. We have not revealed our list to each other.
1:57I told you that I had about 14 and I was having a lot of trouble picking my final 10.
2:03And I think the five through 10 or six through 10, we could have wildly different results, which is really fun, right?
2:10Because we want difference. What was your feel at the end of doing this?
2:14I ended up getting, I got out to 15 and even like, and I thought I, you know, I think we've talked about this.
2:21We've done many of ranking shows together, usually me on your show.
2:24And I only bring you on to do pop culture ones.
2:28I was like, yeah, let's, let's rank like a TV things.
2:31Yeah. But I, I always kind of have the same method.
2:34I, the day before, whatever the first time I think on it, I open up that Google doc and I just go, where am I?
2:42Where's my brain think of first? Cause that's kind of like what I want to go to gut instinct, what comes to it.
2:48And then usually I marinate on it, sleep on it.
2:51Then I do the stat research out of yada, but I put down 15, 15 teams and really, I would say my
2:58final list got down to 13, but yeah, so that's the range.
3:01But man, I couldn't, it was hard. This is hard.
3:04It's hard every year, but this was very hard.
3:07You know, we, I always do at the end, like the ones that just missed the cut, but I'm sure some of
3:13mine that just missed the cut will be on your list and vice versa.
3:17I suspect. So the, I think I'm, I always say it's a little unique in that I go one to 10.
3:23I start with one. I feel like a lot of people do countdowns, but I just think, I don't know.
3:2910 is where there's more debate at the end.
3:32And I think we're probably going to have a lot of the same teams in the top five.
3:37I told you I had, I was pretty good about one and then two through four.
3:42I kept switching the order. You said you had a clear top two.
3:46Yes. So I'll just go first and give you my one and you can tell me where you have them.
3:52The number one offense of 2026. I went with the Los Angeles Rams.
3:55They are two for me. Okay. I want to have some fun here, but I can easily make an argument for one,
4:02but I have a, I have a clear top two.
4:05So it's Rams and mystery team. That's my other one.
4:08If you want me to get into it, but we can talk Rams.
4:12And then we can talk Rams. Okay. My number one is the Dallas Cowboys.
4:16They're my number one offense for 2026. Oh yeah.
4:18I'm, I have them at five. Okay. I'm buying all the stock.
4:22Okay. Okay. Wow. Oh my gosh. I thought you were going to say something else.
4:26I am. Wow. It's got to talk about gut instinct and then talk about research into it.
4:31It was like, yeah. And I actually warmed up even more and I thought I'd be high.
4:36And then I was like, no, the more I kind of just sat and marinated on it, just like a lot of what's going on there.
4:44So. Oh, wow. Either, either of these two teams I'm excited to talk about.
4:48I have them one. You have two. And then we'll do the Cowboys next.
4:52That is. Wow. I started out the bang. I love it.
4:55Yeah. Okay. Well, that's why I tweet. I even texted you.
4:59Cause I mean, you use the stickers of your son, which is great.
5:02And I'm a borderline boomer that doesn't do the stickers.
5:05I just cut out screenshots. And I sent one of my son.
5:09I was like, you're like, Hey, uh, well, I can't remember what your joke was, but mine was when I get a
5:15little too high on the Cowboys, it was a picture of my son looking very mischievous.
5:20So that's, uh, yeah, that's how I was feeling.
5:23When you text me that I'm excited to talk about the Cowboys offense, um, two teams that are largely running it back.
5:29The Rams, everything's pretty much the same. Uh, the biggest difference is they added another tight end to their, I don't even
5:36know like a fleet of tight ends. I mean, it is comical.
5:39When you look at the depth chart and you take a step back, I don't even know what order to put them in.
5:46Like I'll be curious to see the pecking order, right?
5:49Right now you have the veteran Higby Parkinson Ferguson, who was the second rounder last year.
5:54And then max Claire this year. And then you have Davis Allen who also gets opportunities.
5:58So it is an incredibly stacked tight end group.
6:01Otherwise it is the same group, right? Max Matthew Stavrid now backed up by Ty Simpson, uh, Pukanikua, Devante Adams, Jordan Whittington.
6:07I guess Kona Kona Tameau field would be your wider super four.
6:11Karen Williams, Blake Corham at running back. The offensive line is the same, but there's some question marks there.
6:16Uh, this was a team that was last year.
6:19Second or first part of me in offensive DVOA.
6:22Uh, they were incredibly explosive and efficient both in the past game and the run game second in both passing and rushing
6:28success rate, which is a wild combination. Uh, it was an offense that showed the ability to evolve over the course of the season.
6:35And as listeners to every football podcast have learned ad nauseum, the use of the tight ends, um, played games without Pukanikua,
6:42played games without Devante Adams, didn't seem to lose a step.
6:45Uh, so I don't really think we have to talk about why the Rams are top two.
6:50I think the question I want to ask you is the, the thing that may get the only thing that gave me
6:56a little bit of hesitation is like, not just in terms of, you know, having them at one overall, but like sustaining
7:03what we did and saw last year. Offensive line is a little fragile.
7:07Yes. And is that ultimately what held you back?
7:09Okay. Talk about it. And that, that's it. O-line depth, I think is the best way.
7:14And, and Sean McVay should get so much credit no matter who the O-line coach is or whatever, that whoever he trots out there is playable.
7:22Like Coleman Shelton was playable with the Rams, goes to the Bears, was unplayable, comes right back and he's starting again.
7:28Uh, they, they, they had sixth rounder Bo Limmer at center one year.
7:32They're like, yeah, actually we're going to move them around.
7:35Like they, he is so aggressive with his offensive line changes, signing Joe Noteboom, then benching him saying, Hey, you're not good enough.
7:41We're going to have the, the confidence to do that is, is rare.
7:45I mean, that's why McVay is McVay. Um, but that's just really what it is.
7:50Like Rob Havenstein didn't play great last year. Then gets hurt.
7:53Now he's retired. Um, shout out my guy, Rob, but, uh, Warren McClendon comes in and actually plays pretty well.
7:59But the thing is, is now the depth is the starter.
8:02So now there goes the depth. So it's just the, the natural inclination of that.
8:06And also Stafford's back. Like that was a whole story last year.
8:10And of course he held off with it. Didn't take a lot of sacks last year, but Stafford got hit a lot.
8:16Like if you just look at knockdown rain, QB hit rate, he was up there.
8:21It's just that he got rid of the ball because he's Matthew Stafford and did it efficiently and all that.
8:27So he didn't take the sacks, but those hits add up.
8:30He's another year older. And then even just Devante Adams, another year older, and they have insulated themselves with the tight ends.
8:36And that's, that's, what's the nice thing is that, okay, if Devante gets hurt, like he did last year, we can just
8:43do a bunch of tight end looks like they did against, um, when they went to London, uh, where they played the Jags, I think that week.
8:51Um, yeah. And, and that's when the 13 personnel took off and the talking points and all that.
8:56And I mean, it's even funny looking at the roster.
8:59Not only did they draft Max Clare, they also brought, it's like, all right, so no, one, two, three, four, five.
9:05We have six tight ends, which is usually plenty for a team and training camp.
9:09Some, some teams even have four or five and then like, okay, let's bring in two more undrafted free agents too.
9:16So just depth. And so, gee, I wonder what you guys are going to do this year.
9:21Um, and like you said, with the tight ends, like Colby Parkinson is the guy that makes it go the former Seahawk because he can block.
9:28He's a good receiver. Um, just such a good player and it is going to be cool how they kind of move everybody around.
9:35Ferguson's going to be the big play threat. Claire can become that as well.
9:39But yeah, I think that's just maybe just a little bit, a little more fragile, even though I feel amazing about him.
9:46I mean, I was doing the stats too. Every stat you look at was first, first, second, first, first, like even red
9:52zone, amazing in the red zone, middle of the pack, third down, but then Sean McVay has now become more aggressive on fourth down.
9:59He is a 29.2%. He went for it on fourth down, which was the six highest in the NFL last year.
10:05His first year as the Rams head coach, it was at 10%.
10:09So even he's that little thing that used to be kind of McVay's kind of weirdness, like kind of old schoolness.
10:15He's kind of even adapted that way. So this is not that I'm super low or anything.
10:20That's why I said it's a clear top two.
10:23And it's like a one, a one B just a little.
10:26I just think there's some areas of fragileness that I just kind of want to weigh into your way.
10:32The Adams thing is interesting, right? Because it brought, got brought up a lot in the draft when they took Ty Simpson,
10:38instead of adding another receiver, Devante Adams is over, you know, is the wrong side of 30.
10:43He had the hammy last year, which you don't love.
10:46And also he had like maybe unsustainable touchdown rates inside the 10 yard line.
10:50I don't know. But I actually, I, there's a little bit of that concern.
10:54You know, the receiver group is not deep either, but I do think McVay can scheme around that.
11:00I don't know if he can scheme around a tackle injury.
11:03And I think that's, that's the one thing I'm eyeballing or a potential suspension, right?
11:07Alaric Jackson, who's their left tackle, just had another incident accusation of domestic violence.
11:11And he has already had one suspension earlier in his career.
11:14There was an incident last year that I don't believe resulted in the suspension where he was accused of filming a woman without her consent.
11:22And then this is another, so I, there could potentially be punishment there.
11:26I always hate bringing these things up in the context of the just pure football ramifications.
11:30But I, when I bring it up to say, if he is out for any period of time, this is not a deep group at all, right?
11:38Like I was looking at the line and they did draft Keegan Trost in the third round who I don't have takes on.
11:45Do you, I don't know if you have any.
11:48Yeah. Project E type. Yeah. And it got some size and stuff too.
11:51Yeah. David question. They drafted him in the proper spot.
11:54Yeah. Question for Arias is in, you know, quite some time.
11:58Um, limerid plays on the inside. So you're a little, you feel okay there, but, uh, yeah.
12:03And you know, the thing I'll say about Matthew Stafford is last year kept clean 30 P per play person yards per
12:09play second and first down rate pressured 23rd, 25th, 25th.
12:12So this, you know, it's like, you just, it's one of those things.
12:16It's like, great. Oh, that's awesome. Yeah. You brought it up.
12:19He got hit 45 times when he got sack 19.
12:22Great. Like, that's awesome. That speaks to his quarterback play.
12:25He still got hit that many times. Yeah. And again, those things add up.
12:29And the other thing too, and this is a, again, a compliment that you can weigh, you know, skew to a negative,
12:36which I will hear because we're doing this. They had the best rushing success rate period of the new millennium period, which
12:42is also weighed into my MVP discussions with May and Stafford, but we're not going to relitigate that, but no, very efficient attack.
12:49Yeah. Also they, you know, they, they didn't face a ton of light boxes because in part because of the heavy tight end usage.
12:56Yep. And then they attacked aggressively off of that there.
12:59And like the meta of all this, like McVay's on top of it.
13:03And I could talk about even more on that, but the, it's hard to sustain a 49, 50% rushing success rate.
13:09It just is. Even if you drop off to 45, which is excellent.
13:13That's still a couple runs a game. Like those just add up over time.
13:17It's just hard to sustain. Um, but no, I, I do think in just even more point to a favor of what
13:23McVay being on top of the meta of always just adding, always changing, tweaking, going from zone to duo love and personnel
13:30of the 13 is that they were extremely slow last year.
13:33They didn't run any, no huddle, um, or barely any, no huddle.
13:36And really the NFL league wide is as slow as it's ever been.
13:40Cause all the motion and everything I wrote about this, but it's the longest time of possession per play in NFL history.
13:47It was last year. So it's the longest time between place and who does McVay hire, even though he's part of kind
13:53of their little frat pack that they got in this coaching ranks brings in cliff Kingsbury.
13:58Kingsbury is all about no huddle, all about tempo.
14:00And I just, I wrote about this. I just think that's maybe something the teams are going to poke at because that's
14:07one thing I noticed with the Seahawks. You're always kind of betting or you're always playing and designing against who won last
14:13year was the Seahawks where the Seahawks doing all this safe coverage, not safe coverage, but too high coverage.
14:19Hey, you're going to have to attack underneath. We're not going to let you get explosives.
14:24They actually has, you could get after them in tempo just a little bit relatively.
14:28They go from first to like 16th. So I'm just curious if that, that's something I'm keeping my eye on is how quick the Rams go this year.
14:36Something he did early in his career, McVay did and whatever they tap back into it.
14:41So that's one of my kind of trends of the season I'm really watching.
14:45Yeah. Yeah. And like, to be clear, like we're, I'm poking holes because they're one, you know, it's not like, I mean, I can tell you, it's crazy.
14:53Like it's the season Nakua had, it's kind of going to be, I don't want to say forgotten, but like, obviously he didn't win off it.
15:01I voted for him the Robbins player of the year and the team fell short at the very end, but like, it
15:07was not just unbelievable, like production, but his continued experience.
15:10Development as a complete receiver, I think is something that maybe a little bit slept on.
15:15I. So just to put up on the Rams, I think he might be the best wide receiver in the NFL right now.
15:22So just in terms of the completeness of his game and everything he brings to this.
15:26So I, I just, it's in, and the combination of the quarterback, the play caller, the receivers, Adams was so good last year when he was out.
15:34Like, it's just very hard to me. The only thing is like the offensive line is like the, what do you call it?
15:41The hole in the desk star. The. Yeah. The one thing where you're, yeah.
15:45You're like, if this, if you get, if either Jackson is out or McClendon goes down, get a little bit worried.
15:51Um, yeah, it's really hard to pick. It's hard to pick against them.
15:55Um, I guess, you know, they have been aggressive in season, but they did give up some of their draft capital with the miles Garrett trade.
16:03So that could be, you know, just something they did.
16:06They did somewhat inhibit their ability to be aggressive during the season as well.
16:10So I just, that's nothing to keep my eye on.
16:13All right. Seems to move. Yeah. I mean, the defense might be so good.
16:17It might not. None of this might not matter.
16:20Okay. I know you have the Dallas Cowboys. Number one.
16:23So after we said all of that about the Ram, talk to me about what it, what, what was it for you?
16:29And I had them five. So I have them as a top five offense.
16:33I'm obviously very high on them, which I think is about what they finished last year.
16:38It was like five in that five to seven range in most categories.
16:42Why do you have them? Number one, because this is largely a team that's running it back.
16:47Yeah. And that's why I'm excited is because they, I think will benefit more than others of running it back.
16:52Sometimes that's kind of, we're talking about another team about this, but sometimes it's just kind of like, Oh really?
16:58You're not going to throw a little new blood in there and inject it there for them.
17:03It's like, well, they face some health issues. You know, Pickens missed some time at times.
17:08O-line at times got battered and, but they just kept on rolling because they have not just like answers to the test
17:14with Dak back there, but just receiver wise, it's depth.
17:17Like, so if George Pickens on the outside, CD lamb, and then a guy, I'm very high on Ryan Flournoy, the receiver
17:24three, he can play to the outside as well.
17:27Okay. Crazy random game. Less. What was the game where he had like, yeah, he had a jets game where we went nuts.
17:33And then he had another game where he went nuts later in the year, but it, the CD lamb fantasy owner who
17:40just needed like one point from him. I was watching that dying.
17:43All right. Sorry. Anyway, happy for you. Every die.
17:46I see a leak. So I'm excited. Uh, no, but he it's, so it's just the, the weapon shake Ferguson at tight end.
17:53And it's not just Jake Ferguson. Then they have other auxiliary tight ends.
17:56Like Brevin span forward is like one of the best blockers at tight end.
18:01Um, the league, at least Schooner makers, whatever, but he's a third tight end.
18:05So they don't even need to rely on him.
18:07Uh, Javante Williams. They like more than I do, but he had a great year last year and he's perfect for their run scheme.
18:14And really we just talked about old line. They have some depth, like where I'm kind of squinting at a little bit as well.
18:21They drafted drew Shelton, but they also have an offensive line coach and Clayton Adams are, he's office coordinator technically.
18:27Um, but I think he's phenomenal and I think he should be a future head coach.
18:32Yeah, he's been amazing. And so then you got Brian Schottenheimer who I don't think anyone has grown more in my mind
18:38and grown more in respect for me than Brian Schottenheimer since he's become a head coach.
18:43He just, how he answers questions, how he goes about things, how he communicates to players play design.
18:48Like I, I, I've been extremely impressed. So that's really doing a lot.
18:52Um, they like, uh, of course I'm always been pretty high on Dak Prescott.
18:56I consider him a locked in top 10 quarterback, but I can see his comfort in this offense.
19:02It's that perfect blend of Schottenheimer getting to the stuff he wants to get to.
19:06And then Dak on third down and getting to do Dak things and being the sheriff and controlling things.
19:12And then on top of it, they just got weapons.
19:15They can attack vertically. They can attack intermediate. They can attack underneath all three receivers are good blockers.
19:20And I know that sounds like whatever. Well, the run game is going to cook.
19:24Um, so even with Javante Williams, who I consider more of like a above average to go to running back, it's, it really doesn't matter.
19:32Like running back depth is their biggest worry for me, as opposed to old line tight end or receiver or quarterback.
19:38Uh, but last year, third and scoring rate, fifth and success rate, fourth and EPA per play second fewest plays that they,
19:44they face the second fewest third downs. Cause they were so good on first and second down.
19:49They can throw out a fullback out there. Um, Hunter Lepke, who I, I'm always been a fan of.
19:55They can go 12, they can go 22 personnel.
19:57They can go 11. They can just do a little bit of everything.
20:01And I think last year was just kind of the taste of the Adam Schottenheimer offense.
20:06And I think this year it's like, okay, here we go.
20:09This is what our real version of this is.
20:12And I just very, very excited about what they can become because also I talked about the tempo stuff.
20:17They were tapping into that last year. So I think Schottenheimer's got a good pulse on the kind of the meta of the league.
20:24And yeah, I I'm just very, very bullish on this team.
20:28As infuriating as this also was as a lamb manager at times, I was also really impressed by how they use George
20:34Pickens and kind of unlocked another level of him as such a complete wide receiver.
20:39Whereas in Pittsburgh, I think some of the usage of him was a little bit limiting.
20:43And a lot of that had to do with the nature of the quarterbacks and the quarterback play in general.
20:49Yeah. How they play. Yeah. Um, and, and so like, I'm very tempted to just say like pick and slam, like what,
20:56you know, a little bit of hesitation because of the pickings of it all though, which is to say playing on the tag.
21:02Yep. Don't know what that means necessarily, you know, like for, in terms of both his availability and what we see and get out of him this year.
21:11Cause last year he was so good. And if you could guarantee me, we would see the same version of pickings that we saw last year.
21:18And I think that it's not an unfathomable possibility, not just because of his talent, but also, like I said, because of how he was used.
21:26Um, I would be very, like, I'd probably have them top three at least, but I, that gives you give me a teeny bit of hesitation.
21:33Oh, I get it. And then the other thing that gave me a little bit of pause was the line as much
21:40as I like them and they're young and ascending.
21:43Um, there's currently a left tackle competition between Tyler Guyton and Nate Thomas.
21:46Yeah. Cause Thomas played well. Like if you watched it, I, it wasn't, he was amazing.
21:51Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. But it wasn't like a, oh, it wasn't like, um, maybe the bears at times where I
21:58was like, ah, I know when Benedict's in there, you know, if I was like, you know, it's something like that and pass protection.
22:05It's just, it didn't feel like a total D start.
22:08There was more like a C plus B minus, which actually is not bad.
22:12And you get to play next to Tyler Smith and the inter is so strong.
22:16I thought Booker had a great rookie seat, you know?
22:19So I think if you, if you can just get average left tackle play, I'm, it's pretty solid.
22:24Um, but I'm, I'm glad you, I'm really glad you highlighted Schottenheimer and Clayton Adams, because I think that was, this offense was just really fun to watch.
22:33You know, I had talked about the way they used pickings.
22:36I thought, um, and you talked about like all the different personnel groupings they threw out.
22:40Um, I thought all of like the motion felt very purposeful watching this both in the past game and the run game, especially the past game.
22:48So like, I just, I think, um, Schottenheimer and Prescott seem to have like a good understanding of, he seemed to have
22:55a good understanding of the quarterback strengths, but also the ways in which he could improve this offense.
23:00And the fact that they have continuity going into this season is pretty exciting.
23:04Yeah. Yeah. You summed it up perfectly. That's it's just, and again, I might be, I am just goes doing this where
23:10I'm saying, Hey, arrow, keep going up. But I rewatched a lot of their last games and I was just like, this is real.
23:17And this is like real good stuff. It's not just gimmicky.
23:21It's it's no, they changed the game plan every week because Prescott can handle it.
23:25And with that, just the multitude of weapons, like Fortnite could be a real good number two for a lot of other
23:32teams and he's their three and he can play on the outside.
23:35So even if Pickens is, loses his head halfway through the season, like if Fortnite can hold the gap, you know, if
23:42CD land misses time, Fortnite can kick inside. Cause he'd be a power slot.
23:46So I know not to make this a Ryan floor night pod, but that's just kind of stupid.
23:51It's also like it's standard. They have answers. You don't need Turpin to be your, you know, like he can be like
23:57a gadget guy and you could use the one you can put in motion.
24:01You can set, you know, like just, um, and the ability to pivot, I think it's very similar to the bangles and
24:08that having an elite wide receiver one to one a one B is always amazing.
24:12But if you have a quarterback who is aggressive and just wants to throw the ball downfield out of the gun, the
24:19way Prescott and burrow do it's the value of it is like amplified.
24:23Um, it's kind of like how, when we talk about weirdly having a really great running back is actually more valuable.
24:29If you already have a good offensive line, you know, that for someone, that's how I feel about these receipts.
24:35It's exactly the way I feel about the bangles.
24:37They're such similar teams to me. Yeah. I mean, honestly, like after you say that too, like when you texted that and
24:44I was like, there's so many similarities, even quarterback wise, like Prescott and burrow play more alike than people.
24:49A hundred percent. And they're outliers. Yes. They're the best.
24:52These offenses are not like this that we're going to talk.
24:56Yeah. They're some of the last guys that actually control things on third down.
25:00And when I say control things, they have the right to change whatever they want.
25:04And there's not a lot of guys that do it.
25:07Aaron Rogers wants to do it, but he doesn't handle protections.
25:10These two handle protections. Like that's a rare gift that are a rare thing among quarterbacks.
25:15He says there's more that people realize that do it.
25:18Josh Allen does it. Mahomes does it. But I think those two, how they act so much, but also those receivers, they
25:24face the top two amount of cloud coverage, cover two, cover six, which is usually a receiver indicator because they're scared of you beating over the top.
25:32It's the Randy Moss rules. And number one is the bangles.
25:35Number two is the Cowboys. And it makes a lot of sense why.
25:39And both of the run games are like actually fine, but because so many of those split safety looks, they both have like top 10 efficient rushing attacks.
25:47You just have to punish it. You don't have to have the best run game ever.
25:52You just go, oh, you're going to do this.
25:55Here's five yards. We can rip off five yards.
25:57Yeah. Even like, I'm like, yeah, chase Brown's good.
26:00He's fine. You know, I mean, that's how I feel like he's fine.
26:04Good enough. Okay. So you had the, okay. So we got to speed up a little bit.
26:09Cause they, those two teams. I was, I'm very excited.
26:12I probably had the most notes on those two teams because I was just excited to talk about the Cowboys.
26:18I really am. I know. I know everyone rolls their eyes about Cowboys talk, but man, it's, they're doing, they got a really cool team this year.
26:26And even if the, if the defense is just average, just average, this team could do a lot of things this year.
26:32And I feel crazy hyping up the Cowboys like that, but here I mean, like I said, you guarantee me, you get the same Piggins.
26:39It is, it's the second best receiver duo in the NFL.
26:43I think behind Jason Higgins. It's cool. Cause I like Piggins a little more than Higgins and I like chase a little more than Lamb.
26:50So it's kind of like, that's it though. Those are one and two now that the Eagles have been split up.
26:56And then you include Ferguson in there. Like just think pass catchers.
27:00It's like, yeah. I mean, the Cowboys are loaded.
27:02Okay. Number two. So I had the Rams at one, you had the Cowboys at one and the Rams at two.
27:09I had a two, three, four that I kept switching up.
27:12Curious who you had. I went with the bills.
27:14Okay. They were four. Okay. For me. Yes. Here's my thinking.
27:18I'll go first. Another seam. So last year, the bills were top four, pretty much everything.
27:22Top four and DVO way, a third in EPA per play.
27:26Very obviously dominant run game. It's been the case for a minute.
27:29Very, uh, they're, you know, top four and just no matter how you slice it off.
27:34It's funny. Cause we, we look at so much of the similar stuff and I just, and even how you just shorthanded that, that's basically what I did.
27:42I just go, they're essentially top four and everything.
27:45My case for the bills is this was at two.
27:48And we have, you know, Josh Allen doesn't even need to be addressed here.
27:52This was already a top four offense with those receivers.
27:55They, now you sub out those Keon Coleman targets and, you know, some of the random Brandon cooks.
28:00Okay. For DJ more and hopefully a full season of Josh Palmer, who was banged out all of last season.
28:06You drafted Skylar bell. Who's a player I like.
28:08Uh, and otherwise you're largely running it back outside of David, David, David, David Edwards, probably the guard being.
28:14I think the DJ more trade, they gave up too much for him.
28:18Doesn't matter for this exercise. He is undeniably an upgrade for this offense.
28:22Um, this is an offense that face the Josh Allen faced the most man coverage in football last year.
28:27Um, and your numbers dropped off significantly against man versus zone.
28:30This is why he's like, man. Um, he also got, this is correlated obviously to the man numbers.
28:36He got blitzed at the ninth highest rate in the NFL last year.
28:40And he was below average and QBR against the blitz, which is just doesn't seem right for Josh Allen offense, but it's very true.
28:47Uh, and it was below average against man too.
28:49Uh, DJ more last year. Not great, obviously. And then we can talk about that.
28:54But if you go back just a couple of years to 2023, he was fourth in yards per round against man coverage.
29:00Fifth in 20 yard plus yard catches. If he can even just be somewhere between 2025 and 2023, I think this gives
29:07them an answer to the problem that plagued them the most last season.
29:10And again, this was already a top four offense.
29:13So I'm just going to upgrade here. Yeah. I mean, essentially my notes are the same thing.
29:18And I lied. I actually have them third. Um, I, I, I screwed up my own notes, but I had them third.
29:24But why is I kind of got to the same thing.
29:28And even mentioning that cloud stat again, this is a team that faced the lowest amount of the cloud because no one respects their receivers.
29:35They, if you don't face any cover too, and no man or a bunch of man, well, they're just going like, yeah,
29:42we, we don't care what you're going to do against us.
29:45Yeah. And that's where there's the, you know, there's the pairing of Joe Brady too, with DJ more Panthers days, you can get into that argument too.
29:53And for whatever reason, not for whatever reason, but with me and DJ more, I always kind of like, remember those days
29:59maybe better than the bears days because it's just how he had to play and what he did there.
30:05And it was a lot, it was like, he was like a true X, even if he's not like built like that.
30:11Um, and it was a lot of stuff down the sideline.
30:14I've always thought his ball skills were good and he could win against press.
30:19I always thought that was something that's so many.
30:21It was Sam Darnold fade after Sam Darnold fade all the time.
30:25And I mean, even, yeah, I just remember that launch balls, launch balls, launch balls.
30:29Um, I mean, I know that was like six weeks with Darnold, but, um, but I do think that I know lots
30:36of us, I know, um, no, but it's, I just picture that with DJ more.
30:40So it was verticalness on the outside, which is something that Josh Allen has missed.
30:44And it's just that I have always pictured the ball winner, which is the classic T Higgins type, um, George Pickens type.
30:51Those are guys, but DJ more has able to been able to fulfill that.
30:55And DJ more has also been really good on screens, which is also something that every coordinator he's really had has gotten
31:01on, especially in Chicago, no matter who was calling plays.
31:04And I think that's significant because if you look at the bills offense, the last few years, that's, they run so many
31:11bubbles, so many screens as part of their run game.
31:14They'll do it with Dalton Kincaid amazing on them.
31:16Shakir's amazing. No matter what, everybody can do it.
31:19That's also why I liked Palmer when they originally signed him, even if he's an auxiliary guy, cause he's a good blocker.
31:25So it's okay. You can bubble and he could block for you up front.
31:30So DJ more, who's good at that kind of stuff.
31:33I mean, he's had 39 design runs since 2000 in his career.
31:36So from 2018, just to 2022, that was in the Panthers land.
31:40I mean, he's had a lot of design runs.
31:42It was a lot of verticalness and also just a lot of yak.
31:46And it's, this is my crap to not crap kind of theory is I don't think it's even a theory.
31:52It's, I think it's just a law is that I think DJ more is going from Dion, uh, Keon Coleman, who I
31:58would say like a D D plus to DJ more, who, whatever you want to consider him, he's at least a B
32:05and I would even say better than that. And you don't have to have an A plus ad.
32:10We don't have to always get AJ Brown. You don't always have to get the top guy.
32:15If you just get improved in the area of your weakness, man, that you can do a lot that, that just shores up so much.
32:22So I'm sorry. Oh, no, no. I was gonna say one more thing about DJ more.
32:27Um, you know, just in the absence of like a good perimeter, reliable, because the clearly is their best receiver.
32:33Right. And he was, he's a slack guy. Um, I am, I, I really like Dalton Kincaid.
32:38I think he has the potential to be one of the best tight ends in the NFL.
32:43Not a complete tight end, but I, I want to revise what I said there.
32:47Um, as a pass catcher, I think he is, you know, in that group, I'm trying to think who I would even compare him to.
32:55But my point is, um, having an actual X receiver who they trust could also allow them to use more 12, 13, even now.
33:02Yes. And this is a good tight end group.
33:04Right. And, and it's interesting. I talked a little bit to, um, Anthony over at cover one about this.
33:10Yeah. The bills like 12 and 13 numbers were insane last year, but they didn't use it a lot.
33:16And, you know, I think one of the reasons and Anthony and I talked about this was just the makeup of the receivers.
33:22Right. So this could potentially also allow the offense to be a little bit more multidimensional in their personnel usage.
33:28And I think could let Kincaid shine, um, you know, from the slot himself.
33:32And cause he's, I think like he, I mean, up to this point, he has been the only guy who could be man coverage on the entire team.
33:41So now if you have potentially two of them and you can have them in the field at the same time, this
33:47solves some of the problems that we talked about.
33:50Yeah. It's just, yeah. It's basically don't let the Texans do what they did to us.
33:54That's what the bills are trying to build here.
33:57It's like just, yeah, it's it. Yeah. Oh, so I want a couple of like little stats.
34:02I also to just Josh Allen took a lot of sacks last year, which was interesting.
34:07Yeah. Yeah. He took 40 last year and 38, two previous seasons combined.
34:10He lost 298 yards to sacks last year and 215 total.
34:14The two previous years, um, lowest rate of throws of 10 or more air yards was last year, or at least low
34:20since 2021, which was the last time though, that the bills made changes at OC because Brian Dable moved on after 2021.
34:27But also that was the last time they kind of re they fixed their offense.
34:31That's when the whole tight end at adding to tight ends, investing in the run game, investing in the offensive line.
34:37That's when they went out and got the two offensive linemen.
34:40That was the last time they kind of hit that crossroads.
34:44I'm curious again, if they felt that last year, obviously they did, but I think that's going to see where this kind of like the changes come from.
34:52Like sometimes you need those negatives that hit blunt in the face, or at least like we need to add this to kind of just reshift everything.
35:00And I think they're going about it. He threw the receivers at the lowest rate of his career, uh, through it shortest
35:06relative to the sticks of his career. One yard short of the sticks.
35:10It's a donkey. I know. Just be like, Oh, no one's open.
35:14No one's open. And just do something. I'll just take a sack.
35:17Um, yeah, I, I, I'm glad you mentioned that because it, as efficient as the offense was, that was, it was a different thing.
35:24Yeah. Yeah. And the blitz thing is interesting because I did notice the O-line continuity was one of their, that was kind
35:31of their secret sauce the last two years. They've had so much.
35:34Worry about that. Yeah. That's one little thing. Edwards is a very smart player.
35:38Not just, I'm not just saying that because he's a former Badger, but he is a very smart player and they were
35:45getting some, I'm glad he brought up the blitz that because that was, that was significant to me.
35:50Watch the Falcons game. The Falcons to pants them.
35:53I'm telling you him and Lamar had a lot of the same weird issues last season.
35:57It was coming out of their like unbelievable heater year.
36:00And that was both. It was interesting to me.
36:03Yeah. Um, I mean, Alan gives you such a floor.
36:06Like, it's funny. I was looking at their like second and third in red zone last year and red zone, something that
36:12isn't always sticky year to year, unless you have an actual Buffalo quarterback, in which case you're always top tab.
36:18Just looking at like 2024. They were second. 2023.
36:21If I had to do concerns, right here, there, um, offensive line, you know, loss of a guard.
36:26It's not huge, but this was a very lucky, it's a great point about the continuity.
36:31Um, offensive play caller becoming the head coach. You know, always something you gotta monitor.
36:35Substitute teacher. You still call in the plays, even though they brought in Pete Carmichael, but yeah, it's all right.
36:41So let's keep moving. So I had, um, Rams bills.
36:44You had Cowboys, Rams bills. Uh, my number three team is the San Francisco 49ers.
36:48Where do you have them? 49ers. I gave the honorary title of 10th.
36:52Really? Okay. Good. Yeah. Okay. So I'm way higher in the Niners than you.
36:56I love this. Okay. The Niners. Top three offense last year, despite the fact that they were hit by a hurricane.
37:03Um, I don't know what to call it. A substation storm.
37:06Uh, despite the fact that Mac Jones played many games for them and played, honestly, that was actually one of the reasons of all these teams.
37:13I was like, who could lose a quarterback and still have a top five offense?
37:18I was like, well, San Francisco, I don't think there's another one in the top seven or whatever that I felt that way about.
37:25Um, the, okay. So you have, you added, I, here's one of the things that I like about the Niners.
37:31Um, so one was that they did it last year, despite the injuries.
37:35Right. And while I am a little bit nervous about George Kittle coming back from the injury, and that's a big one for me.
37:42I kind of love this receiving group right now.
37:44Um, again, it's a big struggling guy, struggling, struggling gal.
37:47I actually am. So man, like I, that's my thing.
37:50Like I, they're kind of weirdly deep again. Um, you know, I know Mike Evans is getting up in the years and
37:57Christian Kirk's older as well, but like you drafted Stribbling who we can talk about, uh, Ricky Pearsall.
38:02I think whenever he plays, looks good at all.
38:05Yeah. Um, offensive lines is the same. So, you know, uh, and then it's Kyle Shanahan.
38:09Like I, Kyle Shanahan could call a top five offense.
38:12I can't believe you have a 10th. That's crazy.
38:15You have a Kyle Shanahan offense 10th, Mike. Like.
38:17I know. I know. And it's really. Three might be a little.
38:21A little. I should maybe say like eighth. I should maybe say like eighth.
38:25You know, that's me. What's the lowest. Offense in DVOA.
38:28Okay. You talk about why you have them there.
38:31I'm going to look that up right now because.
38:33I know they were second last year. With all those injuries, everything.
38:37They did face an easy schedule, but that's what DVOA weighs anyways.
38:40But, um. Wait. Okay. Talk to me while you have them.
38:44I'm going to figure out what the lowest. With the 49ers.
38:47And again, second DVOA, third and weighted. Yada yada.
38:49Mac Jones steps in. They don't miss a beat.
38:52Even though the offense changed. Kendrick Bourne is starting games.
38:55Like he's number three at the Cardinals this year.
38:58Third and success rate. Eighth in EPA per play.
39:00Just. Just. The Kittle thing is a little worrying to me.
39:04That's a late season Achilles injury. And they rely a lot on George Kittle.
39:08Not only just as a receiver, but as a blocker.
39:11And I know that stats got shared endlessly. About like his on-field, off-field splits.
39:15And I can share them again. But essentially they go from like a not great run game.
39:20To a great run game when he's on the field.
39:23And last year though, it felt kind of weird.
39:25Was that the run game overall. Even with Kittle out there.
39:29Wasn't the typical Shanahan extravagance. Like it. Yeah. It was a bottom 10-ish like run game.
39:33Which is. Speaks to how well I think Purdy plays.
39:36That offense. In the passing game. And how they can just cook no matter what.
39:41But also it's just kind of a little bit weird.
39:43Because CMC is going to be another year older.
39:46And it's a running back that just took 300.
39:49I think 400 touches. And that's. The history of that's not great.
39:52Even if CMC is a freak. Even if CMC trains.
39:55And does all the things that you want to do.
39:58It's just. What are you going to bet on?
40:01Time. You know. In the history. Or you know.
40:03Him just being an outlier. He could be an outlier.
40:06Who knows. But there's just that thing. Where it's some of the things that are their easy buns.
40:12Just seem a little harder to me. And while I do love them adding Mike Evans.
40:16Mike Evans has missed time. They have just. It's again a fragile kind of ecosystem for them right now.
40:22And Kyle Shanahan. No matter what. It's going to have a top 10 offense.
40:26Top 8 offense. Like that. I understand that. But it's just one of these things.
40:30Where it just feels off a little bit this year.
40:33It just feels like the. Those things that they usually can rely on.
40:37Are going to be lesser. To me that's CMC and Kittle.
40:40And I think Kittle because of the injury. And I think CMC just older.
40:45So. That's why I just kind of have knocked down a little.
40:48Where. When you look at like. Like on off.
40:51Like in 2020. When he. 2024. Was when he was injured.
40:54They fell to like ninth. Because he. He is really.
40:57Was the catalyst. That kind of created this new.
41:00Era of Niners football. And with Kyle Shanahan. And even last year.
41:03When he wasn't that great. Running the football. What he does is a pass catcher.
41:07And the way he compromises defenses. I think that's what I'm wondering.
41:11Nate is like. Even if he's not as effective on the ground.
41:15How. How long can he be this. Dynamic as a pass catcher.
41:18I think that's kind of the thing to watch.
41:21I really. I think that they. What we have seen is.
41:24He is the one guy. You can't take out.
41:27Yeah. Where. Or you know. They can't suffer. By the way.
41:30I forgot in 2020. So six years ago. It was the Nick Mullins.
41:34CJ Beathard year. Because it was brought up. I forgot it was brought up a lot.
41:38Because people were like. See Jimmy Garoppolo. Is the biggest.
41:41Is a totally worth the contract. Is like what they look like.
41:45With Nick Mullins. Um. But like. You know. Mac Jones was so good last year.
41:49I'm not. That's fine. Like. I know. He can.
41:52Perfect stop. That guy. Anything. And that's the thing with Purdy.
41:55It's like. That's why I was always so glad.
41:58I was Brock Gnostic. And didn't like bash him.
42:00Or get too high on him. It's like. I think he really has grown as a player.
42:05I like. I do too. Guys that push the ball and scramble.
42:09I'm going to always like. Have a fondness for.
42:11Like. Those guys are the one. That's like. I don't want to.
42:15I'm always going to just be high on. But just even bring up the Kittle stuff.
42:20Last year when he wasn't on the field. They were dead last in yards per run.
42:243.4 yards. And I know that's just one stat.
42:27But just bring it up. If you just look at.
42:30As my son. My son didn't like that stat.
42:33I can hear him. They're dead last in red zone efficiency.
42:36When he wasn't on the field. 21%. That's. That's a calling card for.
42:40For Kyle Shannon. Not a good tight end for you too.
42:43Dead last in explosive runs. They were 27th in explosive run.
42:46Or rushing success rate. But they were still second in passing success rate.
42:50When he wasn't on the field. So. I'm interested in seeing.
42:53So. Because even the Niners. Even though they weren't great running the football last year.
42:58Because obviously they play so much. They have a youth check on the field so much.
43:02They still face the lowest number of light boxes.
43:05Highest number of stack boxes in the NFL. They had.
43:08They were number one in success rate. Versus single high.
43:11Which is again. That's literally been the identity of this Niners offense.
43:14I wonder at what point defenses. Feel comfortable. Respecting the ground game a little less.
43:19You know. Like. At what point are defenses like.
43:21You know what. Run the damn ball. Like. Yeah.
43:24Because they're just being. We'll let you have that.
43:27Barved up by this team. I guess the Seahawks are.
43:30Yeah. You would point to. Is. That has been kind of the kryptonite.
43:33Of this version. Of the. This current. Mike McDonald Seahawks offense.
43:37Or defense. Pardon me. That's so good at stopping the run with light boxes.
43:41And. Yeah. Maybe three is too high. Now that I think about it.
43:45I. 10 is too low. 10 is too low.
43:47So like. Probably like six through eight. Six through eight feels comfortable.
43:51So. Like. Kyle Shan's going to have a tough.
43:53Top 10 offense. I think that's one of the biggest locks.
43:57You can always have. Every single year. You can just always say.
44:00It doesn't matter who the characters are. It's just when the characters are good.
44:04You see the 49ers from what. 2023. You sufficiently made me a little nervous about this.
44:09All right. So you. I went. Rams. Bills. Niners.
44:12You went. Cowboys. Rams. Bills. So let's. Let's let you go next.
44:15Who. So we're both. We're both. This is where I.
44:18I. I. I. I went all over the place.
44:21On this one. It was like. How much do I want to argue for a point here?
44:26How much do I want to argue for something against it?
44:29Ah. I. I'm still deciding between two teams here.
44:32I. I mean. I'm going to go with. I'm going to go with the Chargers.
44:36Wow. I know. Really? I know. Mike McDaniel. Plus.
44:39J.H. Outside the top 10. Okay. All right. Cool.
44:41Sweet. Really? I thought everybody would be on board with this one.
44:45Man. Otak was coming off of serious injuries. Don't love the receiving group.
44:49Don't. Like. I get that. How much. I was just like.
44:52How much Mike McDaniel. How much is the Mike McDaniel effect?
44:55Like I. Yeah. My counter. Is. Mike McDaniel has faced some pretty crappy lines.
44:59Yeah. And they had some pretty crappy lines. And he's had some less than ideal skill players.
45:04And I would even say less than ideal quarterback.
45:07And he still cooked top 10 offenses. And explosive plays.
45:10That's fair. That's fair. That's fair. I've gone back and forth on this.
45:14But now. I would say in the last month.
45:16I've really just been. I'm seeing the vision. So first off.
45:19Let's start with the negative. The O-line. O-line health.
45:22Tackle health. Tyra Biage signing. Really liked it. Also.
45:25One of the sneaky. Awesome signings of the offseason.
45:27Yeah. Great signing. I don't know about the guards though.
45:30Great signing. Who's laying next to him? And they draft Jake Slaughter.
45:34Who. This was so hard. I really like Jake Slaughter.
45:37He was one of my highest rated centers. And they're like.
45:40Yeah. He's starting at guard. We're playing at guard.
45:43I'm like. And he's never. I mean. I think he played barely any guard.
45:47I want to say like. Like 1% of his snaps were at guard in college.
45:51Maybe never. So. That's a little confusing. I do like that they have center depth.
45:56You like Cole Strange? Sorry. No. I kept staring at the depth chart.
45:59And I was just like. Looking at the interior of that offensive line.
46:03I know. I like Cole Strange in the run game.
46:06Not the pass game. I'll put it that way.
46:09That would be my compliment. That would be my complimentary way of doing it.
46:13If healthy. Which is always going to be the if there.
46:16So. And I can't use that as a negative for the Rams.
46:20And then just go like. Wave it away for the Chargers.
46:23Who it's actually. Handicapped for years and years and years.
46:26I love the investment of the tight ends. Charlie Kolar.
46:29And David Njoku. I think Kolar. Kolar. Kolar. I mess up his name every time.
46:33But I do think. As a plus blocker. This is something.
46:36The Chargers haven't had. In X amount of years.
46:39Pick a year. I think since I've been in media.
46:42Since 2020. I've been talking about the lack of blocking tight ends for the Chargers.
46:46So they finally got one. And then two. Njoku is a good blocker.
46:50He's transformed from a receiving athlete. Into a good guy.
46:53Good player that can play in line. And getting out.
46:56Gingled on top of it. So. I wrote about this.
46:59But the early down running back runs to the outside.
47:02I know that sounds niche. But just stick with me here.
47:05So first and second down. The running back has it.
47:08It's a going to the outside. The Chargers. Under Harbaugh and Roman.
47:12The last two years. Greg Roman. They were 28th in success rate on those runs.
47:16The Dolphins under McDaniel. Second. 41%. Second most rushing yards.
47:19Second highest explosive run rate. And you can say.
47:22Oh. They've had Devon Achan. Who's very fast. And out counter.
47:25The best runs for Amari and Hampton. Are outside runs.
47:28Where he can plant his foot. And just get north.
47:31He's a good player. You saw it last. When he played last year.
47:34You saw it. Yeah. I've been weird. The discussion about him has been weird.
47:39Some people thought he got overdrafted. Which I don't agree with.
47:42I thought that's right in the range. He should have gone.
47:45You know. Whatever. Running back's first round. You can do all that.
47:49But late first. Early second grade. He got banged up last year.
47:52The offensive line was a train wreck. And he still was like.
47:56I think he was 11th in yards after contact last year.
47:59And if you look at everyone above him. It's all the stars.
48:02And I even talked about the quarterback. Which is really the driver.
48:06Why I have the Chargers so high. But the run game is going to be so improved.
48:11And I think why I'm arguing this is Mike McDaniel.
48:14Why I'm arguing. It's not just why I think.
48:16Is Mike McDaniel has already shown that he can run a good offense.
48:20With offensive line injuries. Greg Roman has never been able to do that.
48:24Ever. And that's some bullishness. Where I think the floor is so much higher.
48:28Even with injuries that we expect to happen. And then I can get into other stuff.
48:33But last one with the run game stat. Dolphins over the last two seasons.
48:37Had an explosive run rate on outside runs. 10.7%.
48:40Second. Last two years the Chargers had 5.8%. 29th.
48:42So it's just creating this more favorable situations. Where you don't have to rely on your S tier quarterback.
48:48That can do so much. That's what's doing a lot for me.
48:51Because I know what Justin Herbert can do. I really do.
48:55And I can talk about that. It's the run game that has to carry this.
48:59And I think they will. And I think that's why I'm getting suicide.
49:03Borderline irresponsible. I think Lad McConkie is going to look more like Jalen Waddell in this offense.
49:08Than what we saw last year from Lad McConkie.
49:11Yeah. Which was a step back. Right? Yeah. I think back to some of his flashes.
49:15His rookie season. Running with the catch and runs.
49:18With the ball in his hands. Working the middle of the field.
49:21The toughness. The surprising burst. Not surprising. Sorry. Don't worry.
49:24The sneaky burst. Stereotype equipment. It really does kind of make me think a little bit about Waddell in the Dolphins offense.
49:31And so I know I just said like, I don't know about this receiving group.
49:35But I think now that I'm thinking more about McDaniel.
49:38And also just the way. I mean, the receivers are going to get so many one-on-ones.
49:43Because this is a team that's going to live in heavy, as you said, with the tight ends and the fullback.
49:49And so there's just going to be massive big play opportunities, I think.
49:53Like, maybe I should have them in the top 10.
49:56I had them outside because I looked at the interior of the offensive line.
50:00And I said no. I get it. And I said Slater and all coming back from the injuries.
50:05I mean, this is Slater's second. You know, it's just.
50:08Bionich is doing a lot for me. Even if Bionich is center 14.
50:12You know, center 12 in the NFL. It's just.
50:15I can't get over how bad Bradley Bozeman was.
50:17Like. Yeah. And really how much. I mean, it was like jail breaks up the middle every time.
50:22And it was really. And he seems like a great guy.
50:26I don't want to like do like passion guy I've never met.
50:29But it was like it was really obvious to me.
50:32And like Greg Roman's going out there and going like he knows the entire offense.
50:37He's a coach on the field. And I'm seeing so many mental busts from the center going the wrong way, sliding the wrong way.
50:44And again, I don't know game plan stuff. But over time, I can start figuring out who the issues.
50:49Where it's coming from. And that's why it was.
50:52I want to get. Yeah, another badger, too, by the way.
50:55Be honest. So we're just going to keep talking about these guys.
50:59And he has to do quick pressures in the.
51:01I want to isolate it by gap because there's.
51:04Oh, yeah. That'd be really useful because there's no way anyone face more than just.
51:08And I think you're right. I think you're absolutely.
51:11And so this is my final Herbert stack because I haven't mentioned the big dog really is that Shannon offenses.
51:17They thrive in breakers. That's the joke. In breakers, in breakers, in breakers.
51:21The yak off in breakers. That's actually why I think Quentin Johnston, too, could be interesting because although the runway routes.
51:27Good with the ball. Yep. He's best on the run.
51:30In breakers over the last two seasons. Justin Herbert has the third highest rate behind only Brock Purdy, duh, and Jared Goff, who loves to rip in breakers.
51:38He was ninth in EPA per drop back on in breakers.
51:41This is all next gen stats. Tua was seventh.
51:44This is just the past two seasons. Tua, though, and what I would say his down years had the highest first down
51:50rate when throwing in breakers over the last two seasons.
51:5351.5%. Herbert was at 43%. And I think Herbert's way better at throwing those just because of his arm.
51:59Tua has the touch and everything, but Herbert can rip these.
52:02So it's just, again, things where it's just I see the vision.
52:06And we haven't even mentioned Keaton Mitchell. Another speed back in the back.
52:09You love Keaton Mitchell. I know. I'm on my dynasty team.
52:13I'm hanging on. I bet you are. You know, because we have a little dynasty aside, and I know we need to speed up.
52:20We have a two quarterback league, so I'm holding on to the quarterbacks.
52:23You just never let him go because you never know, including Derek Carr.
52:27And I did the spelling bee with the great Paul Effler, who works for Fresno State.
52:32And I told him that, and he thought it was so funny.
52:35And he told Derek Carr. He saw a couple weeks ago, and he was like, you know, there's somebody who really wants
52:42you to come back because she's holding on to you on her dynasty team.
52:46It's like, what? I have a couple like that.
52:49Holding on to Darren Waller, speaking of dolphins, worked out for me.
52:52He had a deal on a team. He was good.
52:55Okay. I'm going to rip the Band-Aid. I had the Patriots before.
52:59Oh, okay. I have him in ninth. So, basically this is.
53:02Their stats are awesome. Yes. We don't even. But basically two competing forces at play here, which is last year's schedule, AJ Brown.
53:09Right? Because, statistically, this was like the best offense in football last year.
53:12And by the way, in stats that count for opponent as well.
53:16And this was obvious. You know, we talked about this a lot in MVP.
53:20The slate of defenses that they faced were actually not the worst in the NFL.
53:25It just all looked really bad in the playoffs.
53:27And we can get to that. But my feeling is when I think about the ways in which this team looked bad
53:34in the playoffs, and there's many ways offensively. AJ Brown really does hypothetically solve a lot of those problems.
53:39Guys getting their asses kicked to the line of scrimmage in press.
53:43Guys not winning at the catch point. Guys being in the wrong position.
53:47Guys getting, like, who Drake May can just immediately throw the football to versus the blitz and under pressure.
53:52You know, I've mentioned a lot of AJ Brown.
53:55I'm sure you guys have all heard his stats with man coverage and tight windows and all of that.
54:00Something I thought notable over the last three years.
54:03And with AJ Brown, I use the last three years because he's a veteran.
54:07Even if you go to last year, they're still not terrible.
54:10They're just obviously the whole offense was kind of gross.
54:13But on throws under two and a half seconds, AJ Brown, 0% drop rate.
54:17Second in yards per route run, fifth and first downs.
54:20On throws when the quarterback was pressured, second to first downs, second to yards per route run.
54:25And here's my thing about AJ. Even if he's lost a step, and I think that's a fair debate to have, he
54:32is still incredibly valuable in this offense because of the contested catch ability and touchdown ability as well.
54:37So I just feel that this was the best offense in football last year, even though schedule is harder.
54:43And even though we saw it get a little bit exposed in the playoffs, they really made a strong counter move to mitigate that regression.
54:50Even AJ Brown with a step back or a Diet Coke, AJ Brown, which is, I feel like I have to trademark,
54:56not trademark, but I feel like I'm just going to be saying that the entire year.
55:01It's like contract year, so-and-so. Contract year Jordan Davis was another one I had recently.
55:06But no, yeah, Diet Coke, AJ Brown, he's still faster than any of the starting receivers that the Patriots had last year and more explosive.
55:13And Kyle Williams, you know, without him, but he was just essentially run-go balls and that's it as a rookie.
55:19But even on top of that, Romeo Dobbs, who I love that signing.
55:23I love the signing of Romeo Dobbs, even before the AJ Brown move.
55:26Totally. And now it's like amazing. They complement each other so well.
55:30They're perfect. I know, AJ Brown, they really do.
55:33AJ Brown runs in breakers, runs vertical, and Romeo Dobbs runs out breakers.
55:36Amazing, yes. It's perfect. And so now, okay, whatever was Stefan Diggs, like, okay, Pop Douglas can be his kind of slot vertical guy.
55:43Matt Collins could be the dirty work physical guy.
55:46It's a lot better running those dig routes with AJ Brown than Matt Collins.
55:50Kayshawn Booty, one of the most improved players in the entire NFL last year, can be your number three.
55:56And now all these guys have inside-outside versatility. You know, that's something that's huge.
56:00They can go into heavy personnel. This is another thing the Patriots did.
56:04They signed Reggie Gilliam from the Bills, who my nickname for him is he's the rug that tied the room together.
56:10That's Reggie Gilliam. That's what he did in Buffalo, and that's what he's going to do in New England.
56:15Josh McDaniels is going to run a lot of 21 sets, but now they've got a guy that's a little bit more dynamic.
56:22I love the Julian Hill signing, but he got hurt.
56:25I know. I'm so excited about that. Underrated, like what a sneaky big loss that is.
56:30Yeah. So annoyed. So annoyed because I was so excited to just be like, see, look at this blocker.
56:35But yeah, but they did draft Eli Raritan, who I really liked out of Notre Dame in the third round, and he also could play in line.
56:43Yeah. And Drake May is Drake May, and who I think of as a – I really already think – I know
56:50I'm already high on him, but I think of him as a top player.
56:54So, okay, this is the best offense in football last year, and they subbed out the receivers for A.J.
56:59Rown and Romeo Dobbs. How are you on the ninth?
57:02And Drake May. I don't know, actually. Now that I've really thought of this, maybe that should have been higher.
57:08I know. That was one thing that occurred to me.
57:11I was like, is there any assistant coach of the year that's aged worse than George McDaniels?
57:16Well, I – you know, actually, now that I'm thinking on it, maybe I give some of these other NFC North offenses a little too much respect.
57:24I should have flopped them out. But anyways, but – oh, even – God, now I'm just really hyping them.
57:30Now I should have had them like fifth. All right, because like even this, Jared Wilson going to center.
57:36Love that. Like that's – I liked him coming out of Georgia.
57:39Concerned about the left side of this lane, I will say.
57:42If Veritaker gets over, yeah. Veritaker, who's great when he's LV, I do – but I do think the Lomu draft pick
57:49gives him a little bit of insurance there. That's – and that's another thing too is that – Made me feel a lot better about it, yeah.
57:57Because if Veritaker gets hurt – and this is – Will Campbell at left tackle might not be for long, long term, you know.
58:04But this is why I liked Will Campbell as a prospect.
58:07He's the best five enabler. If he – if Veritaker gets hurt, you could, in theory – I'm not sure if they're
58:13going to do this – kick Will Campbell inside the left guard and then have Lomu at left tackle.
58:19Like they could. But that's the versatility he provides.
58:22You always get your best five out there. Morgan Moses goes down.
58:25You could put Lomu at right tackle, et cetera, et cetera.
58:28So I – the whole line isn't perfect. Like I don't think Doug Marone's great.
58:33I thought he got really embarrassed last year in the Super Bowl especially.
58:37I really do. And I'm going to keep reiterating that until it catches on because it really was embarrassing about the pass protection plan.
58:44But I think they're learning from that. Really, the Wilson move was indicative to me that they were really reflecting on what they had.
58:51They didn't say, hey, this was good enough. Let's run it back.
58:54They said, no, no, we got to get better.
58:57So they moved on from Bradbury, moved Wilson over.
59:00So, yeah. Cape Verde tied Spain, by the way.
59:02Just got a notification. That's crazy. Shout out Cape Verde.
59:05Tied? That's crazy. Spain. Wow. Wow. We're the second smallest team, I think.
59:09Yeah, that's insane. Zero, zero. Did they put all – did they make a bunker out there?
59:14Maybe we could do – maybe we could even do a revised list at the end because I think we're – I know.
59:21The problem is kicking teams out though because like this is – That's what's hard.
59:25You like the Chargers now. You convinced me of the Chargers, but I'm like, who the heck do I kick out?
59:31All right. So I did my top five to mention them again.
59:35I went Rams, Bills, Niners, Patriots, Cowboys. You have Cowboys, Rams, Bills, Chargers.
59:39Who is your fifth team before we take a break?
59:42Detroit Lions. They are fifth. And one of those where it wasn't as bad as you thought kind of years when I kind of went back.
59:49I know. I reviewed them and I was just so down on their offensive coordinator hire last year, like extremely down and kind of was right about it.
59:57And I don't want to like spike the football or anything.
60:01But then why I'm higher on him maybe than others is I think Drew Petsing is just – we're talking about DJ Moore.
60:07He's like the DJ Moore of OCs, I guess.
60:10Or he's just going from bad to not bad.
60:13So this is why I'm high on the Lions.
60:15They regrouped the O-line, signed Cade Mays, who I think is solid at the very least.
60:20Drafted Blake Miller, who I'm not always a fan of kind of robbing Peter to pay Paul.
60:25Okay, put Penny Sewell at left tackle and then Blake Miller at right tackle.
60:29At least Sewell has the athleticism and has played left tackle before, so it's not a total new thing for him.
60:35I think they will miss David Montgomery in pass protection.
60:38These are just little things. Gibbs has improved a lot there, but watch those Vikings games and Brian Flores targeted Jameer Gibbs in protection.
60:45So just things in 10 up. But this is last year where everything didn't go great.
60:50Seventh in DVOA. I know. Ninth weighted. Sixth in the paper play.
60:53This is kind of like the Niners, right? They're very similar to me where it's like the team where you can poke
61:00so many holes and then you look at the stats and you're just like, oh, it didn't matter because you have this group of skill players.
61:08You've seen the highs of it. So you're like, do that again.
61:11And so even when they're just good to very good, it seems worse.
61:15But then you're like, oh, that's top 10 still.
61:18They just went from one to 10. If you're ranking surrounding cast, this is still top five.
61:23Lee White. One of the best. So I put them at 10th.
61:26And for me, it was the offensive line that ultimately – Totally get it.
61:30So last year, Jared Goff went from – I talked about quick pressure rate between the tackles.
61:35Again, this would be great for Goff as well in addition to Herbert.
61:39Goff, quick pressure rate. And quick pressure rate is, you know, it's not a perfect stat because some of it has to
61:45do with the style of the offense. I find it to be a pretty good stand-in for quarterbacks in hell.
61:51Jared Goff went from the seventh best, meaning lowest, quick pressure rate to – sorry, pardon me.
61:56I have these numbers wrong. He went from 27th in the amount of quick pressure faced in 2024 to seventh highest.
62:02Okay. Felt like that. It felt like that. Yeah.
62:05And I look at this group and Mays, I think, can give you at least average center play.
62:10But, like, there's so much uncertainty. He got sued.
62:13I think he'll be great. But then Mahogany kind of took a step back.
62:17And then Ratledge, year two, we'll see. Like, Miller's a rookie.
62:20Like, there's so much uncertainty and youth on this offensive line right now.
62:24I don't know, man. I get nervous. And yet, even if the offensive line is the same as last year, like you
62:31said it, this was still top ten offense last year.
62:34Like, how much can you really ding them? I don't know.
62:37That's kind of what I got to. Do we pause?
62:40Yeah. Okay. But to isolate Petsing for a second, because you mentioned you feel that as upgrade.
62:45You know, the bloom came off the rose a little bit with him in Arizona.
62:49Do you feel that that was just more about the personnel in Arizona?
62:53And do you think he can? Because he was being talked about as a head coach candidate for a minute there after year one with Kyler.
63:01And anyone that kind of has listened to me or knows my stuff, I talk about the Cardinals way too much.
63:07Because I just thought they were interesting for the first two years under Gannon.
63:11I thought part of that was what Nick Rawls did on defense, but also just what Petsing was doing on offense.
63:17And really, some of it might have been Clayton Adams, which also led to my Cowboys discussion earlier.
63:22But that leads to maybe what happened, what went wrong last year.
63:26First off, they had no running backs. They all got hurt.
63:29And the Cardinals were trying to be a run-first team.
63:32That's what Petsing is. Him and Stefanski, Kevin Stefanski run similar offenses, both kind of offshoot to what they ran in Minnesota.
63:39They're like their own version. It's a hybrid of everything.
63:41But anyways, that's another thing. Drew Petsing worked with Hank Fraley, the offensive line coach for the Lions in Minnesota.
63:47So they have some familiarity. And so losing Clayton Adams, I did think hurt them more than I expected.
63:53Because they went to an offensive line coach that came from college, from Ohio State.
63:57And usually there's a big adjustment period for new offensive line coaches from college.
64:01And boy, was there with Arizona. I just thought the run game fell off completely.
64:06I mean, there's more pressures. There's just a lot of botches on that offense.
64:10And then Kyler, when he's not feeling comfortable, it turns into chaos.
64:13And it devolved from there. Having said all that, like Drew Petsing, this Cardinals offense from 2023 to 2025, I'm including when
64:20it doesn't matter who's starting at quarterback. I'm including Jacoby Brissett in there.
64:24I'm including the Pasternot. What's his name? Dobbs in there when he had to play for him.
64:29They were seventh in rushing success rate, 12th in overall success rate, 14th in explosive play rate.
64:34In 2024, they're 11th in DVOA. So I'm not saying that he was doing these amazing things.
64:39They were a top five offense. But what I'm saying is he wasn't as bad as I think this reputation is making him out to be.
64:46And I keep saying this, that I felt like the Lions got on base with this hire.
64:51As opposed to last year where I was like, I don't think Morton's going to work.
64:56I don't think he's going to work out. Petsing, I always think the floor is high.
65:01And that's where the skill players come in. That's where Amon Ross St.
65:05Brown comes in. That's where Jameer Gibbs comes in.
65:07That's where, shoot, even Isaac Tesla I'm high on.
65:10That's where Sam Laporta comes in. Petsing has shown that he can use tight ends.
65:14So I'm not worried about even if Laporta getting usage.
65:17So there's just a lot I like where I think he wouldn't be a good fit for everyone.
65:22But with Dan Campbell over him, with Hank Fraley insulating him, I think Petsing is good enough that that's why I feel good about where the Lions are.
65:31Again, it's going from bad to not bad for a lot of the weaknesses of last year.
65:36And I think play caller was that for some of the year until Dan Campbell benched the OC last year.
65:42When did he bench him? Wait, wait, was that again?
65:44He benched him pretty early. But yeah, no, yeah, he moved him around.
65:48But yeah, and again, there's weird things with their stats last year.
65:52Like they're fifth in explosive play rate, 21st in rushing explosive play rate.
65:56And you think in the offense would you make?
65:58Yeah, I know. It's something I highlighted. Because yeah, right.
66:01Hold on. That was something that really jumped out to me.
66:04They had like such a low number of explosive runs.
66:07Sorry. Yeah. But the Jameer Gibbs as your running back, that's weird.
66:11And the Cardinals with James Conner from 2023 to 2025 were fourth in explosive runs.
66:15I really think that is like an extension of the offensive line.
66:19Because Jared Gosslow averaged up to target and made everything feel so congested at times.
66:23Yeah. And I think, yeah, I mean, it had to have been the lowest average of the target like Jared Goff's Lions career as well.
66:31So hopefully they can change that. All right. Take a quick break.
66:34Come back. And we got to go a little bit faster because it's a lot of time.
66:39But six through 10 after the break. Treat your taste buds to an explosion of flavor with Fruity Rainbow 5-Hour Energy Shots.

67:50I texted to you. I said about this team, I don't even know what to say about them, the Cincinnati Bengals.
67:56And I don't mean that in a derogatory way.
67:59You have them sixth? I have them sixth. I have them sixth.
68:02Okay. Hey! All right. First match. We know what this is going to be.
68:06Joe Gerber is going to be in the gun.
68:09It's going to be. Like, I think it's. Let's start with.
68:12This isn't different, but I think, and you said this, and I echo it.
68:16The offensive line is very different from. It's funny because Joe Burrow had that quote about, like, this is the best team I've ever played with.
68:24Right? And it's hilarious because it's like, the 2020, 2021 defense was clearly better.
68:28However, it's the best offense, I think, that Joe Burrow has ever.
68:32He's like, I actually know my lineman's names. Like that.
68:34And the line is the big part of the reason why.
68:38Because not only have they finally succeeded in turning it around, they've also got depth.
68:42I think that's what I was looking at the chart.
68:45I was like, oh, you know, like, so, you know, Brown Jr.
68:49Fairchild, who's, I think, a great story for them.
68:51Yep. A guard. Karras, Risner, Mims. But then behind them, Connor Liu, who they drafted this year at center as a potential Ted Karras successor.
68:59Brian Parker, the second. They added some young players who I think, if there's injuries or some of these players struggle, Cody
69:05Ford's been, you know, not great, but that's, he's experienced.
69:08Like, I look at this group, Nate, and I feel like it's absolutely good enough for Joe Burrow and this passing attack
69:14to be as good as it's ever been. I agree.
69:17And I can get maybe into more blemishes, but why I'm high on them, and I have kind of said this maybe
69:24the last year, is that I think a lot of people maybe didn't pay attention to how the Bengals were operating last year.
69:31And I think it's because their run game wasn't explosive.
69:34You talk about Chase Brown, but that line was pretty dang good last year and very efficient and very sound.
69:39And that's, that's something with their, I like their offensive line coach.
69:43Scott Peters is his name. He's a, a, a, almost said Brian Callahan, a Bill Callahan disciple.
69:48And I could see some of that in the run game, but he, all the players got better last year.
69:54Marius Mims, their former first rounder, right tackle. He's starting to tap into, he has legit all pro upside and he started to tap into it last year.
70:02And it was healthy, which has been a big thing for him from college and into the pros.
70:07And so you got him, you mentioned Fairchild who I liked coming out of college, but I thought he was more of a project type.
70:15And I was like, Oh, I wish the Bengals with project types.
70:18Yeah. But he actually right away was, I should say right away.
70:22Second half of the year, really, really played well.
70:24And so the old line being solid at the very least, their 11th and sack rate.
70:29This is just the last six games when bro came back since week 13, their 11th and sack rate.
70:35That's more than fine. Bro takes more sacks than for whatever reason, every other quarterback never gets that sack.
70:40Sack rate applies to everybody except for Joe Burrow, apparently, but they let him kind of, it shorted up.
70:46Like the sacks were more like, okay, understandable guy, just losing as opposed to a guy just going the wrong way.
70:52And I think that usually is conducive to more longer term success.
70:55But why I'm bringing that all up is we know what the strength of this team is.
71:00It's burrow and it's the two receivers and they're going to chuck it and chuck it and chuck it and chuck it
71:07until they can't, they face the highest amount of cloud coverage, cover two, cover six easily.
71:12And they've been like that for years now. Why I'm very curious how this year is and why I can maybe get
71:18over the top playing against like burrows got to kind of get back to being maybe a little bit more aggressive because
71:25against cloud, against that cover two, against that cover six, very short, the cloud coverage though.
71:29And I was just, I was curious because I'm watching it.
71:32I'm like, they face a lot, but I never feel, I feel like now they should have better answers.
71:38And I'm actually kind of, I think teams are just going to lean more into it.
71:43And I just looked at the stat wise and I was like, Oh, okay.
71:47Match what I saw in eye test. So this is just the six weeks with burrow 26, an EPA per play when
71:53facing cloud, when they'd face any other coverage, they are fifth in EPA per play, 20th and success rate, 17th and passing, which you would think cover two.
72:02That means burrow is just going to nickel and dime 17th and success rate fourth when facing anything else.
72:07They're fifth in EPA or I mentioned the EPA per play.
72:10They went from 5.7 yards per play facing any other coverage to 5.1, which is 25th explosive play rate goes from 10,
72:1710.3% to 6.6%, almost half, which makes sense with cover two.
72:20But with those receivers and really just with burrow, it's like you make them predictable.
72:24And so that more than the under center, more than the play action that might help with it.
72:30They got to, they got to throw some new spice in there.
72:33And that's really the thing that keeps me from getting over the top with them.
72:38One thing they tried to do a lot when after burrow came back was heavy, tight end usage.
72:43Yeah. And it was, yeah, I lost it. So, and it wasn't great.
72:47In fact, so I was interested in that because yeah, I was looking at like a lot of burrow's numbers after he
72:53came back and you said, you know, a decent amount of set.
72:57He had some interceptions too, more than usual. And one thing that immediately caught my eye was that they had a 40% two tight end rate.
73:04Now, some of that was in week 15 and week 13.
73:08T Higgins didn't play. So I think that naturally, but even games where he didn't play, it was pretty high with, you
73:14know, Hey, Gusecki, who's more of a glorified receiver and sample.
73:17And, but then the numbers with the tight ends were awful.
73:20And so then I kind of dug in deeper to those.
73:24And it was really because he took a lot of sacks and he threw a few interceptions.
73:29And also they were like abysmal versus the Ravens.
73:31Everybody's forgotten. I get you the 24 to zero game.
73:34Um, but I do wonder with Eric all potentially returning and seeing what, cause he, when his rookie season, there was a
73:41moment where it looked like this offense was going to change with him on the field.
73:45And then he got hurt. And then it kind of just went back to things.
73:50And I do wonder if he's healthy, if that's something they dip into more as a change up to get out what
73:56you're talking about, like to just try to, face a little bit less, um, cloud.
74:01And I do think, you know, it's needed because yeah, this is still a very, it's always going to be a great
74:07offense, but defenses are just so keyed in on like stopping Higgins and chase at all costs.
74:12They do need a change up. They do. And, and, and the running and the running the ball is more just, okay,
74:19we can get on base, but it's like, they need something.
74:22They need something else to provide pop. If that makes sense.
74:25Other than go balls to Higgins and chase, like they just need, or chase taking a five year under route to the house.
74:32Like, and how other teams have been doing that is running the ball and hopefully get explosive, but also dig routes.
74:38There's just other parts of this offense that can be more conducive over route, stuff that attacks more in the middle, and
74:44just get stuff moving as opposed to the kind of more staticness.
74:48And that's some of what bro likes, but there are drawbacks to that, especially if no one's kind of breaking a tackle
74:54and creating those explosives, but the tight end points.
74:57Great. Cause drew sample, cause sickie cause he's a glorified receiver, but all Tanner Hudson, they've done some, they try to do
75:04this with no fan when they try to move on, move on with him or move to him and try and do
75:10some like full back looks out of it and stuff and off, you know, full house backfield stuff.
75:15So maybe, yeah, that's a great point. I'm glad you brought that up though, that they might tap into that again this year, but yeah, good offense.
75:23Just need new answers. Yeah. I mean, it's six.
75:26It could be higher easily. I also think they could benefit from being better game scripts if the defense is average.
75:32And obviously that's where they invested this off season quite a bit.
75:36All right. At seven. I feel like this is, this team's not going to be in your top 10.
75:41Oh, I've got the green Bay Packers. No, I do.
75:44I have the Packers. I have them at eight.
75:47Oh, all right. Yeah. Yeah. NFC North kicked my ass, man.
75:50Well, that's, I go back to back NFC North teams and I can figure out which one.
75:55The other ones. Yeah. I went well, let me see.
75:58I have the bears at seven, eight, nine. Okay.
76:01So right ahead. Okay. Yes. I have all the NFC North team.
76:04I like mixed it up a lot. All right.
76:07Same. There's one more team on mine that we haven't named.
76:10So, but let's talk about the Packers. I mean, first of all, it, the Packers are kind of also in that category
76:16of like, wow, a lot went wrong last year.
76:19Look at the stats. Wait, wait a second. Yeah.
76:22It was like, they tilled off the day last year, fourth and way to DVO.
76:26Jordan loves the starter for this team. They have ranked six, fourth and six.
76:30Yeah. Like, yep. Set your clock to it. I think there's some reasonable nerves around the offensive line, which we can talk about.
76:37And the loss of Romeo Dobbs more than Wicks is one that I do have my eye on, but I still really like this.
76:44I like this group of pass catchers, man. Like I, the news that the, I was a little bit holding out until
76:50I received the news that Tucker craft is full go.
76:53No problems. Week one. And once I got that, it was like, Oh, you're working out running on a treadmill.
76:59Okay. Okay. Okay. We're good. I think people have forgotten how dominant he was before he went injured.
77:05He got hurt last year. But also like Christian Watson and it's funny because they paid Watson and Reed.
77:10I think I talked about this with field potentially, but Watson's like the on off numbers with Christian Watson are crazy.
77:16Like they're this offense with him is a top two offense since he's come into the league.
77:21Obviously there is injury history there. That's concerning, but he is such a natural pairing with Jordan loves skillset as a quarterback.
77:28I think if he's not on the field, you could do get a little bit worried, but then, and it's also just
77:34like the combination of Watson with Reed and craft and their yak ability is just energy.
77:39Perfect. It all perfect. And then you have Matthew golden who like, Hey, the end, very end of the season looked awesome.
77:45So maybe there's something there. I mean, I just, I do worry about this offensive line.
77:50You know how everyone knows. I feel about Jordan love.
77:53I just feel like there's weird. There's always more skepticism around this offense.
77:57It's a little bit that, that is unearned. Yeah.
77:59When you take a step back and look at what it's accomplished.
78:03I feel like the discussion about Jordan love kind of sums up the offense too.
78:07It's like, everyone thinks he's that's worse than it actually is constantly about him.
78:11Yeah. And it's tough too, because it's like, even for me, we're, I understand sometimes would like, okay.
78:17Say Justin Herbert's amazing. And you look at stats and it's like, okay, I get it.
78:21He's 22nd in this and 24th and they're not winning.
78:24Love stats. They're insane. They're insane. He's one playoff games, one playoff games on a road.
78:29Like, you know, and, and I think there's, I, I understand that his interceptions are the, I mean, it's like the video game burnout.
78:36It's just the craziest crashes you'll ever see in your life.
78:39And I get that. I understand the Panthers interception where he's running to the left.
78:44There's all the way across the field. It throws one of the worst interceptions you'll see, but it feels like all the good never gets highlighted.
78:51Yeah. And, and I was going back and watching Christian Watson when they did the contract.
78:56And I just went down like a Jordan love rabbit hole because I'm going to start with Christian Watson.
79:02The Steelers game was one of my favorite QB performances the entire year.
79:06And I think he completed like 18 in a row or something ridiculous and out routes to Romeo Dobbs all day.
79:12Again, set your clock to it. It's amazing. But I losing him.
79:15Cause I do love those out routes. I don't love such a good.
79:19I know. And I'm trying to think, I think gold might be the guy for it now.
79:24Yeah. And it's just love plays quarterback. How people say they want people to play quarterback.
79:29And then they also just don't want to say he's good.
79:32And when I say that, I mean, he's super aggressive.
79:35The second explosive drop backs last year, and he's always going to be high up there.
79:40That's some of the offense, but you need a quarterback willing to do it.
79:44I could call all these plays, but if the quarterback doesn't throw a deep, then it doesn't matter.
79:49And on top of it, he doesn't take sacks that is conducive to an incredible offense or at least passing game and the run game.
79:56You know, Josh Jacobs is, I think is, and he has off field stuff too right now, but I think he's more just, you know, pretty good.
80:04The offensive line. I do think it's more of a, some of its parts than any individual player.
80:10Talk about that. That's their philosophy. You know, that's just how the Packers build their teams.
80:14If you look at the Packers offensive line, every single one of them is built exactly the same.
80:20They're all six, three, six, four, 320 pounds. Yeah.
80:22All right. Well, let's talk about the offensive line.
80:25Cause this is the one thing that you have legitimate apprehension around.
80:28Jordan Morgan, who primarily played guard is going to be the left tackle.
80:32He did play some tackle at the end of the year.
80:35So I actually went back and watched. So I want to talk about it in a second.
80:40Not bad. Yeah. Banks, Ryan, who is another guy who's played multiple positions, Belton, who did play last year.
80:46And then Zach Tom, who's probably the best player on the offensive line at right tackle.
80:51Okay. So on one hand, I'm like, Ooh, you lost Rashid Walker, Alan Jenkins, although he was injured, but then it's like, were they that great?
80:58Yeah. It's one of those things where like, you know, those names, but then you take a, you know, like, um, okay.
81:05So Jordan Morgan, uh, played right tackle versus Chicago.
81:07I thought he was good in that game, but Chicago, sorry.
81:11That's what you stink. Uh, he played, he played right versus, he had some nice reps against Montez.
81:16What I thought, uh, I think that was sweat who I was watching.
81:20Yeah. No, it's a sweat. Right tackle versus Baltimore.
81:22And then he actually played left versus Minnesota, which I had actually watched because I was watching Dallas Turner and Dallas Turner
81:29on one rep beats him so bad off the snap.
81:32It's like, truly. Yep. One of those like, Oh, did you know the play that the ball was snapped moments?
81:38Um, my general take on him though, is that the most part he acquitted himself.
81:42Well, looked like he looked like a competent tackle in these games.
81:46Um, I thought you saw his athleticism, both in the past game and the run game.
81:50I wrote down foot speed. Good. Like he is, he's light.
81:53He plays light. I did feel, and I'm not like the greatest offensive line scout here.
81:58So I want to caveat. So I was just watching to watch to get a feel for him.
82:03He was a little lungy. And then I, and then I, I didn't notice it.
82:08I went back and looked and he's got really short arms.
82:11I like will Campbell ish type. So I do think, and that can lead to lunging.
82:16So I do think that is a little bit of a concern I have for him at tackle, but overall I thought
82:22his athleticism is what jumped out to me. And he did look competent against in those games that I watched.
82:28I think you nailed it. Uh, I liked him coming out of Arizona.
82:32I just never thought he could hang it left.
82:35I thought maybe he could stay at right. Cause he played tackle at Arizona.
82:39And I was like, Oh, he's like an ideal guard.
82:42Maybe you can play right tackle for you. You know, the Packers are going to love him.
82:47And then the Packers drafted up and I was like, Oh, see, um, no, I, I think you nailed it.
82:53I think he is at least competent. I always do think, yeah, you're going to get, give them chip help against a better defensive ends and all that.
83:01You can't go isolated against those best guys, but if the guy's just solid or good, you know, not amazing.
83:07Okay. He can hold his own and they do so much play action and so much, so many screens to help out these guys.
83:14So he's not going to just have to kick, step, kick, step every single, every single, uh, past play.
83:19But I, I think you nailed it. I think he actually was surprisingly pretty competent out there where I thought he might be a long-term guard.
83:27I think banks is. I, that's the one guy I'm squinting at and kind of going, I know they paid him, but
83:33he's just been, uh, um, so that's the one guy I'm kind of like, uh, just, I'm not entirely comfortable with that.
83:40They have there, but they're well coached. The scheme does a lot to help them out.
83:44Just much like the Rams offense or offensive line where it's like, as long as they're competent enough, they can help put these guys in good positions.
83:52Jordan love has not taken sacks. No matter who's been blocking for him, that helps too.
83:57Um, it's really just a run game more. That's more that gets affected more by this than maybe the love craft on the field helps a lot.
84:05Yeah. It all comes out quick. I think my biggest concern about the practice on the other side of the ball, which
84:11we'll talk about later, but, um, and, and maybe that could put them in some adverse situations early on before Michael Parsons comes back.
84:19But yeah, I still feel good about this offense.
84:21I feel good about the skilled players. I feel good about the quarterback.
84:25Have you seen Watson stats though? His underlying stats, Christians, Christian Watson's.
84:29So yeah, they're great. 10th and first down per route last year, fourth and yards per round third and explosives per route.
84:35He cut his drop rate, which was as big as bugaboo.
84:38and LaFleur loves him. This is LaFleur's guy. And like, that's why he's always getting chances.
84:43And I, but he's proved them right. I think, I think he's underrated in intermediate stuff.
84:48Like everyone just thinks of him as the go ball guy.
84:51And obviously that's a huge part of what he does, but I think he has really developed as a more complete receiver.
84:57Comfort in hands usually leads to in breakers because then you're running over the middle.
85:02It can snag a football and they keep running.
85:04Yeah. And yeah. So I mean, Tucker craft, the warlord Jane Reed and, and Christian Watson's a great top three.
85:10They really synergistically work. And then, like you said, you mentioned Jane Reed, Jane Reed's a bonus.
85:15Golden. You mean golden? Yeah. I say, golden golden.
85:18Golden's just a bonus. Matthew golden's just a bonus.
85:21If he does anything, he like did nothing. And then in the last game, it was like, wait a second.
85:26Oh, the first round pick that he had or something.
85:29He had one play. It was like insane yards after the catcher.
85:33He just like exploded. And I was like, Oh my God.
85:36Yeah. If you had never watched until the playoffs, you'd probably think he was like the best person.
85:41This guy's just tearing it up the whole year.
85:44Yeah. Okay. All right. Well, I'm glad my going back and watching Jordan Morgan was for a reason.
85:49Um, I think I had forgotten that he played until I was like looking at the offensive line.
85:55And I was like, Jordan Morgan was a guard.
85:57Why are they comfortable? And then I went back and look and I was like, Oh, okay.
86:02Oh, because he had to play that. In today's world, planning ahead isn't always top of mind, but not having life insurance

87:16So I had Cincinnati, Packers at seven. You had the Bears at seven and the Packers eight.
87:21I had the Bears at nine. So let's talk about the Bears next before we get to, I think we both have one more team.
87:28I have one more team. Yeah, I think I'm set.
87:31But I might re-rack mine at the end. You had the Patriots at nine or something?
87:36Okay, so you can remind me of who you had.
87:39Okay, so I have one mystery team that we'll get to.
87:42But let's talk about the Bears. I moved the Bears inside this little range several times.
87:47I kept reordering the NFC North. I don't know what to do with them, man.
87:51Okay, so the Bears often- I could make an argument for the Vikings if we really want to get frisky.
87:57NFC North is going to be nuts this year.
88:00It's going to be a bloodbath. My question about the Vikings is like, is this finally the year that KOC has a top 10 rushing attack?
88:07Because if so, like- He touched it last year.
88:10I think they were finished 12th or something, just outside.
88:13Their success rate was like a top 10, but the DVOA was a little knocked out.
88:18Yeah, but it was the best that he had.
88:20It's slowly improved every year. Every year. He wants to have a McVay, you know, right.
88:25Jawan Jennings. I know. If we're ranking as a boarding guest, I mean, Jesus, right?
88:29I know. Okay, so it's being in the collar if we want.
88:33Being in the morning asks, DJ Moore is gone.
88:35So you're looking at Odunze and Burden as your one-two punch with Cleef Raymond.
88:40But we know this is a team that's going to live in two tight ends.
88:44Loveland, who looked like an absolute superstar at the end of the year.
88:48Cole Komet, they drafted Sam Rausch, who's blocking tight end.
88:51Love that. Otherwise, the biggest changes are on the offensive line, and that's why I pushed them down.
88:56It was the offensive line for me. They were a big heart versus head team.
89:00Like, I'm just so high on Ben Johnson. Oh, he's so good.
89:04And then also, just like, but then also, I'm like, who's starting at left tackle?
89:08Is it Braxton Jones? That's the guy that you guys were going, no way!
89:12He's not playing for us anymore. Can you come back for another year?
89:16Can you come play for us for another year, actually?
89:19Because Ozzy Trapilo got hurt. So yeah, left tackle is a big, big, big, big question mark.
89:24They got through it last year with not great play there.
89:27Again, that's where offensive system, what Ben Johnson uses, can really help those guys out.
89:32Get them on the move, change the pocket location, or launch location, all that.
89:36Garrett Bradbury is going to be a knockdown at center.
89:39Yeah. That is... Don't love it. Yeah, he's a below average starter.
89:42And again, that was a compliment to the Patriots and why I was like, actually, I appreciate their own self-scouting there.
89:49But Bradbury, and they took the guy from Iowa, Logan Jones, which is kind of funny.
89:53If they didn't do Bradbury and they just went with Jones, I'd be like, yep, that's a good offseason.
89:59I wrote down, I hope Logan Jones wins this job at some point.
90:03Yeah, he can actually be a plus player, at least a good starter.
90:07Because Jones is a great scheme fit for Ben Johnson.
90:09All the zone stuff that they run. Any Iowa offensive lineman is going to have their PhD in zone running under Kirk Ferentz.
90:16But so offensive line changes. And also, they had a lot of good health last year outside of left tackle.
90:22The other guys were playing... Jonah Jackson has faced injury concerns his entire career.
90:26And then now he's healthy. It's like, are you going to bet on that again?
90:31Like, as a betting man, I would bet against that.
90:34So just talking about depth of the O-line is going to be the one kind of hang-up.
90:39Because they were so good last year. But you mentioned the tight ends.
90:42Loveland's awesome. Star, all that. Cole Comet is perfect now as this number two who can block really well and be an auxiliary receiver.
90:49Roush, there's not many teams that can trot out all three tight ends and all three are blockers.
90:55And valid receivers. That's the difference with them, 13 personnel, and like the Rams, 13 personnel.
90:59Which has, you know... I mean, they have like three Parkinson's.
91:03As opposed to three Terrence Ferguson's. You know, that's what the kind of Bears are building right here.
91:08Caleb Williams. Where did he end up in your quarterback draft?
91:11Didn't Ben take him really high? Ben took him absolutely high.
91:14Yeah. I had him high. I love Caleb Williams.
91:17But Ben took him like eighth or something insane.
91:20I think we had him 13th, I think, in ours.
91:23I think that's about where I had him. I got very high on him.
91:27But that was... I think I was 12th in my own personal rankings.
91:30But yeah. Yeah. But say he plays as the 12th best quarterback.
91:34That's great. That's already going to be... You know, you're betting on the second half of last year.
91:39But this run game was phenomenal. They were explosive last year.
91:43You know, was Eric Biennemi a part of DeAndre Swift's ascension last year and his vision improving to where he went from completely blind to actually pretty good?
91:51Kyle Manonga. I mean... It was actually great. Yeah, I know.
91:54Kyle Manonga is a nice hammerhead. So they just have...
91:57And even the guys like Khalif Raymond, I know that's a Ben Johnson favorite.
92:01He's a great glue guy at receiver. Yeah. Because he blocks.
92:04He can take gadget runs... Or can go vertical.
92:07Can be a gadget guy. So they just have a lot to like here.
92:11And I couldn't get too low on them, even if I don't think there would be a true top three or top four.
92:18I think pretty safe top ten. I have a question for you about the Bears passing offense.
92:23Yeah. So if you do like explosiveness and efficiency, right?
92:26So EVA overlay and success rate, but explosiveness and efficiency.
92:29The run game, both explosive and efficient in the upper quadrant.
92:32They had the second highest percent of runs going for 10 plus yards.
92:36And they were like, depending on how you slice it up, top and success rate as well.
92:41The passing game, explosive. Third in percentage of passes going for 20 yards.
92:44Not efficient, right? Success rate, I think 20th or something.
92:47Do you think it's just always going to be that way with Kayla Williams?
92:52Because if I think about like, what does it take for this offense to go from the second half of the top
92:58ten, the top half of the top ten? Because, you know, like we both have them in the second half of the top ten.
93:05In my mind, that efficiency of the passing attack has to at least get above average.
93:10Do you feel like Kayla Williams can get there?
93:12Or do you think there's just going to be like a boom or bust nature to his style of play?
93:18That's always it's always going to be more explosive than efficient.
93:21I think it's going to be more boom bust with the offense and what they're kind of trying to build.
93:27I think this is somewhat by design. But I do think the success rate will get up there.
93:33But he's not going to be the hyper Drew Brees.
93:36He's not a big spoon. He's not Jared. No, even Goff, you know, who's just a machine on the underneath stuff and the screens.
93:43But part of that is just the offensive system.
93:45And that's why it's been fun to watch Ben Johnson mold this offense, you know, like a symbiotic going from the Lions to the Bears and the personnel.
93:53Was he went so screen heavy, so underneath heavy, so many choice routes to Gibbs and St.
93:58Brown to, oh, my quarterback can throw at 80 yards and my receivers are all big and can get downfield.
94:04My tight end, I can split them out as a true receiver.
94:08All right, let's go vertical. And Ben Johnson knows.
94:11And explosive plays, that's it. Explosive plays is what you're trying to achieve as an offense.
94:15So I think they did a great job of going like, hey, this is the highest that we're trying to achieve.
94:21Now let's fill in the lines of a little bit more efficiency.
94:25And I did think Caleb improved in that area.
94:28I thought he got a lot more comfortable on the throws over the middle.
94:32I thought there was times he found checkdowns a little bit better as the season went along, especially all the play action they were running.
94:39But I don't think he'll ever be that hyper, hyper efficient guy.
94:43But you don't have to be because if you just hit enough home runs, your batting average could be 250.
94:48As long as you're hitting 48 home runs. And I think that's just part of the method of the madness that they have.
94:55Yeah, I'm with you. I think it's always going to skew that way.
94:59But I think if you can just get it from 20 to 15th in success, you know what I mean?
95:05Then we got a legit elite offense. The other thing I have an eye on is whether or not the sack avoidance
95:11comes down to earth at all a little bit.
95:14Because he went from... You mean from an all-time rate?
95:17No, he went from zillion sacks, pressure to sack ratio, to literally the opposite in the spectrum.
95:22That's so dramatic. I do think a lot... I do think he is always going to be better than he was his rookie season.
95:29I think it's going to be closer to what we saw last year because of his natural ability.
95:34Caleb, his natural... Not just the mobility, but the pocket feel.
95:37He's just one of those guys who slithers away from contact.
95:41And that is who he is. And I also think they had an amazing offensive line last year.
95:46I do think it's possible that we see a few more negative plays this year.
95:50Because like you said last year, it was just so crazy how he avoided sacks.
95:55Yes. And I think there's some where... And I mean this in the best way possible.
95:59Some of the bumps that he maybe hit last year...
96:02I would say maybe they played the Lions at Detroit was maybe a game I'm thinking of.
96:07I always remember the Raiders game being the game.
96:10I could really feel it turned a corner in the second half for Caleb.
96:14But I do think that they're trying to avoid him going down maybe the Russell Wilson path in the sense where it's
96:21like, hey, it's all launch balls and scrambling. And right now, they're asking him to do the hard things.
96:26Go under center. Throw over the middle. Throw a timing.
96:29Yeah, it's not going to be perfect. But if we just get you above board, you can do the rest.
96:35I can't coach. So yeah, and that's the thing.
96:38It's not going to happen overnight. And they're not going to run a lot of screens.
96:42There's not a lot of gimmies. It's hard stuff.
96:45But it's kind of cool when you see a coach ask that because he knows that that's the goal.
96:51And that's the ceiling. I'm not going to make it too easy on you.
96:55I think if it was still Drew Dauntman and Tripilo hadn't gotten hurt, I would probably have them fixed-ish maybe.
97:01Yeah. I would definitely have them a little bit higher.
97:03I think it's fair. I would have them on top of the NFC.
97:07North. NFC North. I'd put them at the top of this group.
97:11Same. Yeah, the true... Tripilo was good last year too.
97:14And that's what stinks because they nailed that draft pick and he had a real injury.
97:18I actually... Yeah. All right. Yeah. So my final team...
97:21So let's... Can you redo your... Oh, my goodness.
97:24So I remember your top five. You went Cowboys, Rams, Bills, Chargers.
97:28Incredible. Five, you had... Lions. Lions. Six, you had Bengals like me.
97:31And then you went seven... Bears. Eight, Packers. Nine, Patriots.
97:34Patriots. 10, 49ers. 10, 49ers. And there's... Fucking down that.
97:37Two more that pained me not to include. Well, so I will tell you now because I have one more which is eight.
97:44The two just outside or three because I had the Chargers.
97:47I considered the Chargers. I had just outside my top 10 Chargers, Jags.
97:51I was so devastated. Jags just outside mine too.
97:53And I have so many stats on the Jags.
97:56I wasted so much time and I didn't even include them.
97:59We can talk about them in a second. Okay, cool.
98:02Let's do the teams I just missed. I had the Broncos just outside the top 10 because I just think this was
98:09already an offense that really improved a lot last year.
98:12And oh yeah, by the way, they added Jalen Waddell.
98:15Right. All right. I know I actually might be too long.
98:18Not everyone's going to agree with this one. I have the Baltimore Ravens at eight.
98:22Okay. Well, that's who that would have been 11 for me.
98:25Okay. 12 would have been Jax. Yeah. So a lot of uncertainty here.
98:29Yes. New offense, new offensive coordinator, Declan Doyle. Otherwise, I mean, so there's there's changes on the offensive line.
98:35The center is a big glaring. Holy. This could be a disaster.
98:38I do think guard. You could have potentially an upgrade, though.
98:42They have Ioane and John Simpson. Definitely. Oh, I think just got.
98:45No, no. Joe Tipton got paid. Not Jonathan. Changes at fullback at tight end.
98:49So you're seeing some talent walk out the door.
98:52My bet here is largely on the fact that they have a top three quarterback in the NFL.
98:57And when he's been healthy for an entire season, this is generally been one of the best offenses in football.
99:03So it's a little bit just like it's Lamar Jackson.
99:06Let's not overthink this. But it's also I think this offense could really work with him and with Declan Doyle.
99:12Big unknown. Right. But if you think about everything we're talking about Chicago, I really think it could help not just Lamar,
99:18but all of the other questions I have about the skill players and the offensive line.
99:23And it's like, this could actually help everyone else, maybe even more than it helps Lamar, which is to say an offense
99:29that's more under center, more play action, more condensed formations, more of the, you know, the bear style.
99:35The other thing about Lamar, I'll say, I am not worried about it.
99:39Like there's so many teams now around the NFL that are transitioning to this offense.
99:43And we're like, well, how's it going to go with Jalen Hurts?
99:46How's it going to go with James Daniels? How's it going?
99:50I do not worry about that with Lamar Jackson because we've seen him have success in pretty much every style of offense he's played in.
99:57The other thing I just was like, let me see how Lamar, because we were talking about Daniels and Hurts.
100:03Daniels barely played under center. So who knows? When Lamar has been under center over the last five years, he is first in QBR.
100:10He has a 77% complete percentage. Okay. He's second in on target.
100:13Like everything is incredible. So I just feel like it'll probably work.
100:17Am I crazy? Am I being overly optimistic? My, and this is just me, just cards on the table here.
100:23It's more that I wanted to talk about other teams more.
100:26And then maybe that's why, that's the tiebreaker and why they're 11th.
100:30You know, that's even just some of the things, but I'm right there with you.
100:34Like I, I'm, I've known nothing about Declan Doyle.
100:37I know background stuff, but you know, you never know.
100:40I love the offensive line coach they hired who was doing great work with the Falcons.
100:44That's kind of a sneaky thing too. People can't tell.
100:47Michael Jr. also had a big co-sign on that one.
100:50He's legit. And as I remember his name off the top of my head, huh?
100:55But no, I do think that this offense at the very least, like you can, I know what Lamar is.
101:00I know what he is as a thrower. So even if he's aging as a runner and you can tell he was banged up last year.
101:08And I think that was led to a lot of the sacks.
101:12Oh my goodness. Not even just look at, um, I was just even looking at some of the rushing stats.
101:17So design runs per game. 2019 is first full year starting.
101:21It was seven and a half rush design runs a game.
101:24It was two last year. Total rushing yards a game by Lamar.
101:2780 a game in 2019. And that's just total rushing yards.
101:312025 was 26. And that is fine because his passing in the passing game has expanded, but that is a big part of Lamar's value.
101:38But I do think that's why I'm not as worried as maybe aging as maybe some other guys like Ross.
101:44I bring up him, um, even hurts if he doesn't kind of like some of the other areas he fills out his game, but everything was banged up.
101:52It felt like last year. It just wasn't consistent.
101:55But even the running game, running back rushing success rate.
101:58So this is running back runs 35% last year, which is the lowest since Lamar's been a starter has never been below 40% since Lamar's been a starter.
102:06His MVP year is 41%. So it's just more as just the run game of all things has to get back on,
102:12you know, back up the stuff, not the passing game, which is not where I think maybe a lot of attention is
102:19drawn right now because I know the receivers. It's not ideal.
102:22Um, I did like the Elijah Surratt pick. I think he's, and they might put him at power slot, which I'm all fired up about.
102:29They drafted two big guys and lane. And I feel like let them do get out and see who.
102:35Yeah. Yeah. Broken pool, broken pool, uh, pool stick in there.
102:38But yeah, the offensive line changes. Simpson's a good player.
102:41I did like Ione. Um, but that's going to be something I keep my eye on a new offensive coordinator, a new
102:48play caller, but Lamar, like you said, gives him a floor.
102:51Like my floor is 11th, you know, that that's the lowest I can get on a Lamar Jackson offense.
102:56Even if I do have some questions about the personnel around him.
103:00Yeah. Again, to go back to like the under center play action, Shanahan's tree offense, like Lamar's, uh, I've always felt at
103:06his best throwing over the middle of the field.
103:09Yes. I mean, the touch and his, when he has had weird misses, it's usually outside the numbers.
103:14We were like, Oh, what's going on there? Um, yeah.
103:17Yeah. So you're, if you're like asking him to get under center and you're going to dial up the play, crank up the play action.
103:25Like it, it, it, of all of the offenses across the league that are making this transition.
103:30This is the one where I'm like, yeah, this guy, you know, it's, it's, it's like, I don't have to see it.
103:36I've seen it. I've seen it. I, you know, yeah.
103:39And like, I've seen Munkin would run under center eye formation with Lamar and Ricard and Derek Henry.
103:44It wasn't, it's, he's very, and it's the thing with Lamar is that the footwork and everything is not picturesque.
103:50It's not what I'm going to coach a high school kid.
103:53Like that's, uh, to me, that's Prescott and Jared Goff and Kirk cousins.
103:57Those are the guys I would teach a quarterback with Lamar.
104:00Cause he's a freak. He can get away with it.
104:03The ball comes out on time. Like his timing's great.
104:06And I'm so glad you brought up throwing over the middle.
104:10I'm not the only one who's made this comparison.
104:12I think you have to him and Stafford throw more alike than you would think they throw the digger outs almost exactly
104:19alike as far as just arm juice. So that's why I think he's just going to age well.
104:24And I do think there's some real clean lines in this offense or a clean path in this offense, I should say,
104:30but the wrong game just got to get back to run.
104:34It's got to get better. The line has question marks.
104:37It's still not best group of receivers. Um, and I, you know, losing likely it's not nothing.
104:42Um, even if it was your card is interesting because that's just, he was just such a cog for them.
104:47You know, it's good. It's better with him off the field.
104:51Cause he's a de facto alignment, but we'll see.
104:53I think you want a, I would take him over.
104:56Like if you guys think they were a team who's associated with some skill players in the draft at that point, he could have added receiver.
105:04It would have been sexy, but you want, he was the right pick.
105:08It was, I think like perhaps the most universally, like, yeah.
105:11Yeah. I don't, and even like mock drafts, I think we just kept doing it by Charles McDonald.
105:16And I was just like, I don't see this going any other way.
105:20Okay. Um, just to revisit the teams we left out of the top 10.
105:24Um, so I mentioned, yeah, chargers, Jags, Broncos. Uh, you, we talked about the chargers at length, really cool.
105:30Get the Broncos. Um, I mean, waddle. This is an elite offensive line.
105:34Uh, now you're looking at Sutton waddle and then assorbent.
105:36Right. I love pap, right. Um, I actually, yeah, I, so for me, you know, I think I, you know, the waddle
105:43thing alone is enough for me to feel good about them potentially being in the top 10.
105:48And if, you know, bone Knicks can build on what he improved out in the second half of last season, a little
105:54bit confused about the play calling situation there. Yeah, that's weird.
105:58Um, I don't know. Did you have any other like doubts?
106:01Did you consider them for the top 10? I did.
106:04I did there. Yeah. When I had said that original 15 or whatever, I said they're firmly in that.
106:09Uh, and it's not like anything overly bad. And I like the waddle signing too.
106:14It was just, I think they had some luck with some of the stuff last year.
106:18Um, and so maybe it's just like, it's like the Patriots thing where it's like, I think they just kind of even
106:25out the regression, I guess is a good way to put it.
106:28And even just like, I mean, underlying stats wise, I know that's just one thing.
106:33It wasn't like they were crazy good last year.
106:35I mean, they're, I believe they were what their 10th and weighted, but their 15th and DVO way kind of more middle
106:42of the pack above average, but it's a good, good old line, good offensive system.
106:46Of course with Sean Payton, but now like you mentioned new play caller, um, with web, but I also did like the
106:53run, uh, the run running back additions that they made.
106:56Uh, you know, Jonah Coleman, I think that's exactly what they needed.
106:59Yeah. Someone had a great comment. I think we talked about him.
107:03He's, um, they, they shout out. I think he should leave.
107:06Cause we were like, what is he built? Like he's a little tuna can.
107:10Just, you know, just like, that's exactly what he is.
107:13Uh, but he, each other up. Perfect type of running back for them.
107:17So this is not a, I'm not that low on them.
107:20Like that's kind of similar discussion with the Ravens, but different version of it.
107:24But it's like, you know, I'm not going to get lower than 13th, I think with them.
107:29So I, it's a good offense, but I just couldn't get them above somebody.
107:33Yeah. It's like, why did I put the Ravens in eight and sit like they have Lamar Jackson.
107:39That was the right. That does a lot. That does.
107:42Um, the Jags in the second half of last season were second in passing EPA per play.
107:47Their stats are hilarious. And 31st in rushing EPA per play and 31st in success rate.
107:51They averaged 3.6 yards per carry. So maybe Burkater helps change that healthy Brenton strange.
107:56Yep. But I really need this offense to be more balanced to feel good enough about putting it in the top 10.
108:02I love designs of the offense. Like one of my favorite offenses systems to watch, just kind of like how Liam Cohen, those coaches get to everything.
108:10And, and I loved how Trevor played last year.
108:13Jacoby Myers trade was truly one of the best trades.
108:16You mid-season trades we've seen some time, um, just because of how everybody else, Parker Washington, you mentioned strange.
108:21Um, they're definitely, they brought back Quentin Morris to help out run game too.
108:25I actually think Tootin and Rodriguez are a great one too.
108:29And then the Quinn Allen, who's a phenomenal number three, cause he's awesome in teams and pass protection.
108:34The whole line. I just, that's, that's, does a great job of mitigating.
108:38Not having, he's, you know, he's a McVay guy.
108:40Great job of mitigating it. But once you face the good teams, the good defenses, and once they had to rely on
108:47the run game as the, as the season went along, just a lot of, not just, just stuff wasn't great.
108:53Not a lot of movement, a lot of mistakes.
108:55And, and that's why I just couldn't, I think that's just going to be their bugaboo.
109:00Cause they tried to address it a little bit with pregnant.
109:03Um, yeah, that's a big one. Yeah. The run game was so bad that even though literally everyone on earth was screaming, run the ball against Buffalo.
109:11They got it. And even they were putting up like six yards to carry.
109:15But like, you could tell they were, he was just like, I do not trust.
109:20Like at all. And that builds my defense. Like, you know, Nino could put up four yards to carry on them.
109:26Um, anyways, I do like the Jags. So I'm, I'm still jagging it.
109:30I might. You have the Texas and AFC South or the Jags?
109:33I'm considering putting the Jags there. I've been flirting with it.
109:36Cause they're just so much more balanced than Texas.
109:39I know. I, I kind of, I think gun to head, I'm going Texans, but it's not like, it's like an easy answer for me right now.
109:47Uh, any, did you consider the Seahawks at all who finished 10th?
109:50Seahawks were in there. We're 10th and weighted DVOA last year.
109:54I think for them, um, a little bit, the offensive line, I have some questions about, I think they'll still be pretty good though.
110:01I think it's just going to look really similar to last season.
110:04Yeah, I do too. And, but the thing was, it wasn't like their underlying, they were good, but it wasn't like the underlying stats for gangbusters.
110:12I know that's one thing that we're looking at, but that's kind of how I'm going to break these ties with that.
110:18You know, sneaky team, I kind of like sneaky list I had that I was maybe going to talk about.
110:24Um, I mentioned the Vikings as one as just like, but then I just couldn't justify it.
110:29Uh, and you know, I don't think the bucks are going to be outright, you know, as bad as they were last year.
110:36As far as they tapered off. I actually think they'll be, yeah, line should be healthier.
110:41Everybody should be healthier. Um, I actually like Zach Robinson.
110:44Um, so I actually think that'll help too. So that they, that, and kind of a sneaky team for me, the saints.
110:50Yeah. Love the things. I figured I'd throw them in there.
110:53I, uh, who's, Oh, last week I talked about watching, um, Kelvin banks jr.
110:57And why he was my X factor for the saints.
111:00Cause I went back and watched the offensive line in the second half last season.
111:05And I came out of that watch feeling pretty good.
111:08And then we talked about David Edwards who joins the saints could be a sneaky, good offensive line.
111:13You add Jordan Tyson, who again, going back and watching, there were so many reps.
111:17So I was like, imagine that's Jordan Tyson. I think that's any separation, please.
111:21Yeah. Um, all right. Well, yeah, I'll get more into the saints.
111:25Obviously when I talk about the, yeah. Also, Kansas city chiefs could easily correct a top 10.
111:30That was, that was my last one was the chiefs.
111:33Uh, cause I think, I think they got a big chip on their shoulder.
111:37Yeah. Nobody, their old lines can be good. Yeah.
111:40So yeah, I think they, they got a chip on their shoulder to the chiefs.
111:44They're there. At least my homes does, but Andy Reed just hired all the same coaches that he's worked with in the past.
111:51And that's like, Oh, I mean, it's interesting if the run game looks any different.
111:55I really am. They got the one guy that they needed.
111:58They need the ETN or Kenneth Walker. They need one of those two.
112:02They're not the perfect backs, but they're perfect for what the chiefs need.
112:06Also, um, Nate Taylor had a great article about Kenneth Walker.
112:09And one of the things he mentioned was they were really impressed by him as a pass catcher.
112:15If the chiefs can get back to having a even top 10 screen game after the abomination I had to watch at
112:21times last year, that to me would go a long way towards.
112:25I, I miss doing we, well, because the chiefs made the super bowl every year when I was with the athletic, we
112:31would have the beat writers from the athletic and it was like the Nate Taylor special episode.
112:36So I love my, I love my Nate T episodes every, every year when we got there, but no, it's a great, I totally agree with that.
112:44And the one thing that that offense needed is explosive runs because they've been two of the least explosive run games in
112:50the, of the new millennium was the last two years chiefs.
112:54And now they get a guy that his vision's iffy, but what he can do is he can turn two yards into
113:0020 and he can turn five into 50. And that's what they need.
113:04And he's good with the ball in his hands.
113:07So yes, yes. And that's what they need. All right.
113:10Let's conclude our top 10 offenses. I'll do mine again.
113:12Read them again. And I went, uh, cause I already read yours again, Rams, bills, minors.
113:17Now you made me feel bad about that. You're too low.
113:20Um, Patriots. I like how the descent we had Cowboys, Bengals, scrolling, scrolling, Packers, Ravens, bears, lions.
113:25Those are mine. I'd probably put the Patriots at five if I redid this.
113:30And I'd probably put the 49ers at like seven or eight if I read this.
113:34I want to put Chargers in now cause you really talked me into them, but I don't know who I'm taking out.
113:40Right. And I don't know. I'm not only included them.
113:43I put them at four. I'm Ben. I'm chasing the highs there.
113:47I'm totally chasing the highs. Um, all right. That was awesome.
113:50Go check out football 301 wherever you get your pods.
113:53I am about to fly to France, but I will be back next week to do top 10 defenses with Ben, which
113:59I have no idea who I'm going to put in top 10.
114:03Well, I do know the top four is very easy.
114:06Um, all right. So we'll see you back next week.
114:09Uh, thank you as always to everyone at Omaha productions, Kirsten, Sebecki, Owen Saylor, Jack Foster, Tucker Tashen.
114:14And also if you're watching Love Island, you know, I recant that on my YouTube channel as well.
114:19YouTube.com slash at me to kimes. Pod's called viewer discretion.
114:22See you guys next week. Wow. Dreaming has become a dream.
114:26See that the internet celebrates you. That's me. Back to the game and you love soul.
