0:30Power Hour. This is Power Hour 4. Last week I did the rankings, actually.
0:34I gave my thoughts. And this week, as promised, I am joined by a friend of the show, second appearance.
0:40It's been a long time. Bill Simmons. What was the first appearance?
0:44Was that during the COVID era? Because I don't remember anything in 2020 or 2021.
0:49I think it was during the COVID era. I don't even remember what we talked about.
0:54Zero memory. But I remember you did come on once.
0:57And it's been a while. So I'm hoping for the Simmons bump.
1:01The Simmons bump. It is a famous bump at ESPN.
1:04Yeah, I don't remember. I was thinking about doing a couple of NBA redraftables.
1:08And I apparently did like 14 of them in 2020 and have no recollection of any of them.
1:14So I'm going to listen to them like it's new content.
1:18By the way, if you are listening to this, this means our Rewatchables episode of Hitch has come out.
1:23So go check that out on the Rewatchables. That was a lot of fun.
1:28You know, inadvertently, you've kind of cornered the rom-com corner for us.
1:32I think you're gonna say the pickup artist corner because that's my now.
1:36Maybe that's your corner. Yeah, I got to get you on for like an action movie or a thriller or something to mix it up.
1:44So you don't get pigeonholed in the Rewatchables. I think Chris Ryan, Sean and I did The Rock without you, baby.
1:50No, I was on that one. Okay. Okay. So I've done one.
1:54Yeah, but I am always I love action movies.
1:57I love sci fi. I know. All right. Well, go check that out.
2:01You guys know how this one works. Uh, I give Bill two choices for every slot.
2:06He picks the team that just simply he thinks is gonna be the best, not the best record.
2:11So you don't get a divisional bump from being the NFC South or whatever.
2:16Uh, punishing the pats for playing a harder schedule, purely who you think is gonna be the best soup to nuts.
2:22I'm gonna start by giving you the same choice I've given everyone because I just can't find a reason not to give this choice.
2:30I think it would be disingenuous of me to start with anyone but the Rams and the Seahawks.
2:36Do you agree with that? I do. We should mention you tried to get me to do this before I had done any NFL prep.
2:43And you were like, it's fine. It's fine. It's like, how is this gonna be fine?
2:49This is you have a real podcast that runs on the channel.
2:52And I'm not just gonna come on and talk out of my butt for an hour.
2:57Like, let me do a week of prep. Why don't you walk people through your prep?
3:02Yeah, because you have a very, you have like a specific process you do every year.
3:07I do. I have a whole, it's, it's really kind of psychotic, but it's like a seven week process.
3:13I went to Hawaii with my wife. And, uh, like for three hours that I was going through, I like to type in the schedule.
3:21I actually type it in because it makes me think about the games and the matchups as I do it.
3:27Um, and then I do this weird player ranking system, um, which is my fourth year.
3:32And it's been pretty good with trying to figure out the best teams.
3:37I go through, I do by position. The Jeremy Fowler thing is really helpful with the top 10.
3:42Yeah. Where he does the top 10 for each position.
3:45Cause I have it anyway. And then I like to see what other people think.
3:50Those are good rankings. I mean, like everybody always craps on them.
3:54And then you see the NFL 100 and you're like, actually the executives and coaches do a good job.
4:00I'm not breaking these players because they're usually right.
4:03There's nothing perfect. And there's some weird ones. Like I still don't know what position.
4:07I'm in warrior is like, is he a cornerback?
4:10Is he a safety? I don't know. But anyway, that, so I do like a point system.
4:15I have quarterbacks. The highest you can get is nine points for quarterback.
4:20Highest you can get for safety is for, I do all this stuff.
4:24And it's really helpful. And the big takeaway for me to answer your question, Seattle, the Rams, Seattle has the most talent in the league.
4:31And I don't see the only scenario that you wouldn't think they're going to be the best team again, is that they won the Super Bowl last year.
4:40There's no other case. They have the best team in the league.
4:44They have the most talent. They have the most players that you would give points to.
4:49They have the best defense. I think they have the best coaching staff.
4:53I don't really feel like they lost anything. It's like, oh no, Kenneth Walker, who we had to keep our fingers crossed for four years.
5:01Is he going to play? Well, now we're putting in the Notre Dame running back that might actually be really good.
5:08Yeah. I think he's good. And I think I just don't see a scenario where they're not really good.
5:13Their schedule is harder. I get it, but they're really talented.
5:17This feels like appropriate time to disclose that you were higher on the Seahawks last year than me.
5:23However, conversely, I was higher on the Patriots, I think, than you.
5:26You remember, I like the Stefan Dick signing. No, that's not true.
5:30I was the highest, the teams I was the highest on were Seattle, Denver and the Patriots.
5:35Okay. And then everyone in the middle class, I screwed up, but I actually had the higher ends down.
5:41The Chiefs are what killed me. I just, the Chiefs, you pencil them in every year for 12 wins and.
5:48One and nine in one score games. All right.
5:51So you're taking the Seahawks over the Rams. I think the Rams have a way greater, like I always look at this
5:57stuff by bet your life on it. Right. Which Zach always gets mad at.
6:02Like don't bet your life on it. That's stupid.
6:05But it's like, all right, let's say I had to bet my life.
6:09I'm betting my life on the Rams with Stafford, who they got this miracle season from last year.
6:14Right. Where he was like, it's guys got a bad back.
6:18He's got a bad knee. Is he going to make it?
6:21Well, he was awesome. Devonta Adams. So I think it's 33.
6:2533. Um, and it's a top heavy team where they, and they do the miles, Garrett trade, right?
6:30They have like six awesome guys. But when we pencil this in and two gets hurt.
6:35Now I don't know. I have four awesome guys.
6:38I think Seattle can, they can withstand anything. So I think they're the best team.
6:43I love it. All right. The Rams are going to go up against a team that has been steadily rising every time I've done this.
6:51The Denver Broncos. Rams versus Broncos. Denver ranked very high on the, uh, on the rankings there.
6:56It's weird. There's a couple of teams from last year that the gambling odds are against.
7:01Um, yeah, I think it's the Broncos. It's the FBI.
7:04Doesn't like them. A lot of advanced metrics don't like them.
7:08And then I look at the roster and I don't get it at all.
7:12Broncos. The, I think the Eagles are another one where the Eagles who I think are, have basically brought back 90% of
7:19their team and everybody's like, eh, bad vibes. I'm out.
7:22Um, but I would have the Rams here just cause I think it's Seahawks one a Rams one B.
7:28And I think you can make a case for either.
7:31Um, listen, there's an Aaron Donald thing just looming.
7:34This is by far, you, you have to fill time on NFL live doing all these talking 10 minutes about the Ravens segments.
7:41And doing did Travis Hunter, what's it going to mean when he's playing cornerback?
7:46And you just like these things where you're trying to get content out of Aaron Donald coming back is the biggest story of the summer.
7:54If he comes back and he's the same guy that, you know, close to the same guy that he was, and he's
8:00going to be on the same line with miles Garrett.
8:04What is a bigger story than that? Do you know when Aaron Donald retired in 2023, he ranked first in pass rush win rate?
8:11Like he, there was zero decline. That's the crazy thing.
8:14Like most guys, when they retire, it's like over, he just walked away.
8:18And what if he's, what if he's just like, I'll just play half the snaps and I'm just going to come in
8:25and wreak havoc when I come in. And what if they get him on like a $5 million contract?
8:31So, um, I have real concerns about Stafford. Cause I think, um, you got the crap kicked out of him in Detroit forever.
8:38He has real physical injuries and you know, that's a dangerous position.
8:42All right. I'm going to throw a choice to you that I have not given anyone, but it's because it's you and
8:49I want to just feel it out and see how you feel.
8:53You know what I'm going to do here? Broncos pats.
8:56Get over it. So I have a couple teams.
8:59Higher than both of these teams. Okay. Um, I have Denver a whiff higher than the Patriots and it's only solely because of the Mike variable situation.
9:07That's it. Really? It's yeah. That's really it. Their schedule is harder.
9:11Fine. They still, if you look at the schedule, it's, it's hard, but it's not, but it's also not the point of this.
9:18You're, you're really thinking about the team. I've been saying all off season, the Patriots, I think are a better team, but
9:25might, might finish with a worse record than they were last year.
9:29Well, what would their 14 and three last year?
9:32I meant like they're a better team than they were last year, which everyone's like, what?
9:37I'm like, they clearly are a better team than they were last season.
9:41Right? No question. I thought they had a good draft.
9:44I liked the draft. Will Campbell's going to be healthy.
9:47Um, it's the second year where the guy where last year he's coming in, he's basically undoing all this Jared Mayo stuff
9:54and putting in his people and his coaches. And, and so now they know, and there's continuity.
9:59Uh, I still don't think Drake may was healthy for the last couple of weeks of the season, which we just gloss over.
10:07And that's fine. I know Drake may he's, he's replaced Josh Allen as the new, we're sure.
10:12Um, that's fine. You guys can do all that.
10:15Uh, Oh, I know. I see. I almost won the, I went down with the flames.
10:20I get so much. No, you guys. I'm helping you in.
10:23No, you're in the urine with the, you guys.
10:26Um, but their team is talent wise. They're definitely better.
10:29And the AJ Brown thing is significant. Like even that Jeremy Fowler top 10 thing.
10:34I thought he would be seven, eight or nine.
10:37Right. He ended up being nine, which I get cause he was a little bit off last year, but they went from
10:44having nobody who could get open and the Seahawks were like, nobody in this team can get open.
10:49We're just going to rush for guys and do whatever we want to.
10:53Now you have to worry about AJ Brown. I think that's a real thing, but you're taking the Broncos.
10:59I'm taking the Broncos because I thought they should have, they should have beaten the Patriots.
11:04Yeah. Better team. If bone next is healthy, they win the game.
11:08I, I I'm man enough to admit that. I think the Patriots probably honestly probably should have lost the Houston game.
11:15If Houston, if Stroud doesn't just completely poop all over himself in that game, Houston wins the game.
11:20I'm excited. And I think you can make a case.
11:23Houston was the best team in the AFC and that their quarterback just crapped the bed in the worst possible moment.
11:30But I think they were the scariest team. All right.
11:33Let's go stay in the division. Then who did you have for that one?
11:38Denver, the pets, Denver. Yeah. I mean, Denver said more town.
11:41They're just such a good team. Top to bottom.
11:44Um, all right. Also RJ, RJ, RJ, RJ Harvey and waddle.
11:47Second year, RJ Harvey. I think waddle. I think waddle.
11:50Waddle. So good. I, yeah, I think that's like kind of slept on a little bit cause it happened for the draft and everyone kind of forgot.
11:59It happened. Um, I think, well, think about last year, his quarterbacks were the corpse of Tua.
12:04Um, Quinn yours, Quinn yours, Quinn yours. Like, and he still put up stats somehow.
12:09So I think Denver has to be slightly over them, but I, I have another AFC team over both of them bills.
12:16Pats. No, no, we're doing bills. Pats. I had the pats over the bills.
12:20Okay. Tell me why. I don't see the bills thing at all.
12:24You in the commenters. They were, they, they keep saying I have the bills too high.
12:29What, what, what, what are you not seeing? What, what are you down on here?
12:34Name three people on their defense. Yeah. That you feel like can swing a game.
12:38The defense is they have good. Good. Everyone glosses over it.
12:42Great players. They don't. I had in my point system.
12:45Yeah. I had Russo and Benford with one point each.
12:48That was it. I don't know. I don't have any blue chippers or even, uh, red chippers for them.
12:54Offensive line is really good. Cook's really good. I DJ more like the bears fans were driving him to the airport and
13:01the bills are like, yeah, we got DJ more.
13:04It's like the bears fans couldn't have gotten rid of him fast enough.
13:08And it's the same thing as always with Josh, but I, McDermott, it was such a good defensive coach for them that
13:15I know he had to go and the, and the game stuff was unforgivable and it was time, but you know, Joe Brady's an offensive coach.
13:23Right. And in the building. So how different it is going to be really.
13:27Um, and it's a defense going to be fixed.
13:30The run defense was so bad. I, I, I get it.
13:34I just think Josh Allen is kind of the equalizer.
13:37I mean, you know, Josh Allen, who wasn't as good as Drake may last year.
13:42I don't get the case. I think there's better teams than the Pats, but it's not the bills.
13:47Okay. Well now I'm just going to try to guess that and stay in the AFC.
13:52It's a very AFC heavy, by the way. I'm looking at my, the NFC is very top heavy.
13:58And then the AFC I think has more top 10, like good teams.
14:02Um, I'm looking at two teams here and you mentioned one of them.
14:06So effort Texans. Is that your team? I have two teams over the Broncos and the Patriots and the Texans are one of those.
14:14Okay. So Texans are on the board versus the bills.
14:17Oh, we, the opener, by the way, this is the opening matchup.
14:20It's great. Texans. Um, I can't believe that the Texans defense, which was genuinely terrifying.
14:25Yeah. I would have the Texans over the Patriots, but you did the game this way.
14:30Um, the Texans brought back all 11 guys on defense.
14:33Yeah. Like they didn't even go like 10 for 11.
14:36They're like, all 11 are coming back and we got blank and shit.
14:41Yeah. Okay. That seems scary. Yeah. Um, but you did say something about the quarterback earlier.
14:46Right. Well, they, their wide receiver crew is going to be a lot different.
14:50I always liked David Montgomery. I know you're not telling your grandkids about him, but he's certainly better than everyone they had last year.
14:58And I think their offensive line is going to be for the ninth straight year.
15:02The question. Yeah. It's like, will they be able to block?
15:06Um, I don't know what to make a Stroud.
15:08He, this could be one of those things where he's not the quarterback in week nine and I wouldn't be shocked or
15:15he could have a huge comeback year. He's going to be the, but I think the rest of the team is so good.
15:23I think they're gonna be, and then fair Baron on top of everything, like their special teams are good.
15:29Like everything's good except the offensive line and the quarterback.
15:32So who knows? It's funny. Cause the more I thought about like the Broncos, I keep, I have over the Texans every time I do this.
15:40But then when I take a step back, I'm like the Texans defense is actually better than the Broncos defense.
15:46Right. The use Nico Collins is as good as any of the Broncos receivers.
15:51Yeah. And they've spent what? Three second rounders on wide receivers other than Nico Collins.
15:55And then I like, I have CJ Stroud over Nick's personally.
15:59It's just the off the Broncos offensive line is so good.
16:02Uh, that's kind of the differentiating factor for me, but like, I think you can make a case for Houston.
16:08I feel like everyone's just kind of over indexing on the last time we saw CJ Stroud and like, you know, hard to shake, which is weird.
16:17Cause we get amnesia with every bad Justin Herbert game.
16:20It's like, they just come and go. And we don't remember any of them.
16:24And then the list come next year. And it's like, Justin Herbert's amazing.
16:29But CJ Stroud is going to wear that game.
16:31I, you know, I really, I stay away from everything.
16:34Cause I'm in basketball mode. And then I throw myself into the prep.
16:39I was honestly shocked by the Houston gambling numbers.
16:41Like they're over under is nine and a half.
16:44Really? Yeah. Like Houston can't go 10 and seven.
16:47I that's insane to me. They're plus one 35 for the division.
16:51I think people like the Jags. And I think that's part of it.
16:55Who we're going to get to in the top half.
16:58Cause I think Jags are kind of looming. Um, all right.
17:01So the bills remain on the board and I'm going to go back to the NFC and put them against the 49ers bills versus 49ers.
17:09Uh, I still have the 49ers over the bills.
17:12Okay. Yeah. I'm lower on the bills than everybody in that.
17:16Um, 49ers, you know, you could have them third.
17:18You could have them ninth. Who knows? Are they just going to have a ton of injuries for the 19th straight year?
17:25I'm a way bigger Purdy guy than most. I think Purdy's good.
17:29Um, I, I think it's really weird. Like even when I do, I'll do my QB tears for a podcast in August
17:36every year, which everybody does, but I have to do mine.
17:39And then people get mad when Purdy is too high.
17:43It's the only guy. How high do you have him?
17:46Purdy? I, I have him. Let me see. I have him pretty high, like higher.
17:50You'd be, how high do you have them? Okay.
17:53Well, let me just throw out some quarterbacks and tell me if he's higher or lower.
17:58Purdy. Is he higher than Sam Darnold? I have him on the same tier as Sam Darnold.
18:04I'm on the same tier as golf, Jaden Daniels, Nix and, and, and, uh, Darnold.
18:08Jordan love. I have love higher. Okay. This is reasonable.
18:11Thank you. Yeah. I was fine then. I, but I think Purdy's like the 10th best quarterback in the league.
18:18Would you rather have Purdy or Caleb Williams? Aggregators.
18:21I'd rather have Purdy. I'd rather have Purdy. Bears, Bears aggregators are aggressive.
18:25Every year there's like a quarterback who the fans are very aggressive about.
18:29We have this, we have this in basketball too.
18:32I'd rather have Purdy for the season. I'd rather have Caleb Williams if I was down 10 with eight minutes left.
18:38I'd rather have him than any quarterback in the league.
18:41I think that's a fair answer. All right. Yeah.
18:44The bills keep falling. I'm going to go back to the AFC cause we haven't gotten, there's two teams that I, there's two teams.
18:52I think you might've been talking about. Let's go.
18:54I'm not going to do the one with the quarterback that you alluded to perhaps snidely earlier.
19:00Let's go Ravens here. Yeah. I had the Ravens as the other one.
19:04Part of it though, is the part of the rankings is the schedule.
19:08Um, I actually liked their schedule this year. Um, and that was one of the reasons I they're the favorites in the AFC right now.
19:16And I think that's great. I think it's partly schedule related.
19:19They have, um, let me see this. Yeah. They, they play AFC South NFC South.
19:24If you look at their first seven, like they're pretty easily going to be six and one, um, last five could also be easy.
19:31They only play, they play burrow twice, Dak, Josh, Trevor Lawrence, and Herbert.
19:36Those are the only good quarterbacks they play all year.
19:39So there's good schedule stuff with them. Um, but I don't know.
19:42I don't, I don't know. They, you know, new coach.
19:46I was never a hardball guy. So you could talk me into the new coach actually being better than I love the new coach.
19:53I, I, I don't know. I haven't checked the coach of the year odds, but that's my guy for coach of the year already.
20:01I'll tell you, I would, I would put it on him.
20:04I think the charge defense was so much better than they had any right to be under him.
20:10I agree. Um, yeah. So there's a chance he could bump them up and then we're, you know, there's been NBA players like this.
20:17See Lamar is kind of, we're almost there. Like, is this happening or not?
20:22Who's the, who's Lamar Jackson? Now here's really where you get aggregated.
20:25Who's the Lamar Jackson of the NBA? This would be a great get up topic.
20:30Who's the Lamar Jackson, the NBA? Well, it's gotta be somebody that has, has circled round two, round three, but never gotten over the hump.
20:38Someone who like the analytics nerds and the film nerds both love.
20:42Right. Cause like all the nerds, and I know you listen to a lot of nerds all love Lamar.
20:48I know. Um, it's, it's in Donovan Mitchell territory.
20:51Hmm. You know, he's never made the finals. He is considered to be one of the 10 best players in the league.
20:57It's unclear if he could be the best guy in a finals team, but he's has all NBAs.
21:03He has the whole thing. I, the only difference is he's not good enough to be the MVP of the league.
21:10Yeah. I was gonna say that feels a little difficult to Lamar.
21:13I feel like it would have to be someone a little bit better.
21:18Yeah. So you, but there is really no comp.
21:20It would almost have to be like. Everyone else in that tier has won the championship.
21:25Honestly, it would be Embiid if Embiid played all the time where Embiid has the MVP.
21:30Yeah. He's never gonna pass round two. The highs are higher as high as anyone.
21:35I like that one. Actually the Embiid's not bad because.
21:38Yeah. Cause Lamar has missed how many seasons where he's like only played half the season.
21:43He's had a couple of them. Yeah. So it's like Embiid with a, with a little dash of Mitchell.
21:49I don't know. But I like Lamar. I just, you know, I, I think the playoff record at some point, that's how
21:56we judge quarterbacks and he just needs to do it.
21:59So Ravens over bills. Oh yeah. That's like, I, that's not even close.
22:03The bills are dropping. The company. They should drop.
22:06All right. God, I'm, I'm looking at my list and it's still AFC.
22:10I'm going to, all right. I'm going to do, I'm going to bring in the quarterback.
22:15Do it. Do it. Chargers. Chargers. Chargers versus bills.
22:18I had the chargers over the bills. Okay. Wow.
22:21Yeah. Oh wait. So I know you were, you were joking about Herbert earlier, but do you not think giving him Mike McDaniel is like rocket fuel?
22:29I had a full season of Hampton. And how about having your two tackles back?
22:34Um, I haven't made real decisions yet. Cause it's worth taping this.
22:38It's the end of July. It's not even the end of July.
22:42It's the last 10 days. The chargers check a lot of my boxes for making a jump because I thought what they
22:49did last year with all the injuries was really impressive.
22:52Yeah. And then they had the bad playoff loss, the three off the scent.
22:56They brought in McDaniel as, as like the Josh McDaniels kind of upgrade.
23:00Um, and I think their offensive line might be really good.
23:04I'm not sure about the defense and then losing the DC.
23:07I don't think that, that makes me nervous. Yeah.
23:10They had Greg Roman. Where? No, I was, uh, Greg Roman was the most pre-fired offense.
23:15You know, when like, he's an offensive coordinator and you're like, they're pre-fired.
23:19Like you already know you give it like a year max.
23:22Right. But so we'll see what the defense, but I, I, uh, okay.
23:27You're going to have my eye on them. Yeah.
23:29A lot of people do. This is a lot, a lot of disarming amount of chargers buzz, which is never a good thing.
23:37Um, okay. I'm going to bring in the NNFC team now because I've done so many AFC teams.
23:42Let's go bills versus you mentioned them Eagles. I, that to me, this is a no contest.
23:48The Eagles are a much better team. Um, I was stunned when I did the player rankings.
23:53Cause I think the, the perception is the Eagles are going to be a mess this year.
23:58I don't know. They have a lot of good players.
24:01Like I can list some of them hurts. Barkley Smith got her.
24:05They probably have the second best offensive line in the league or third or fourth, somewhere in there.
24:11Carter Davis bond, Reinhard, uh, John Mitchell. They half the team is like blue chippers or red chippers.
24:16So why are they going to go nine and eight interceptions or something?
24:20Um, because people don't trust the quarterback and he's in a new offense.
24:25That doesn't worry you at all. They're just going to run the ball and have the same boring offense.
24:31They always had, they go 12 and four, 12 and five every year.
24:35Okay. One more point. Did you see the athletic story today that Nick Sirianni is using chat GPT to connect with his players?
24:42And does that change your mind? I like it.
24:45He needed to do something. The other connections weren't working.
24:48Like at least he's going to the drawing board.
24:51Uh, I just Philly's at some point when you have a lot of talent, you're going to end up going 10 and
24:58seven or 11 and six and we're gonna have tanking teams this year.
25:02And all right, you know, I don't think their division by the way, the Cowboys, maybe we do this every year with them.
25:09I know you have to do, I don't know what's contractually like four NFL live segments a week on the Cowboys.
25:15Is it every day or every other day? What do you have to do?
25:20Actually 1.5 a day. Yeah. Yeah. So now we have to talk ourselves into them being a Superbowl contender.
25:26Um, but I don't think Washington's going to be good.
25:29I don't think the giants are going to be good.
25:32So, um, not too bad. Yeah, no, I mean, I like the Eagles.
25:36There's other, they're being given to you as a choice or a reason.
25:40I don't know if I'd have more of the bills.
25:43The bills are dropping big time. This will be, could you, could you see like the Eagles start out three and O
25:50and then I don't know who writes the story, but maybe somebody in the athletic of like the vibes are so much better this year.
25:58And it's a lot of like veiled AJ Brown shots.
26:01They're already doing it. It's already the vibe. I better without it.
26:05There's some, there's some Ewing theory potential with him, even though they want to title.
26:10Yeah. Um, I think I like everything they've done on offense.
26:13I just don't know if I got to see it with the quarterback to feel good about it.
26:19Uh, cause it's going to be so different, but, uh, okay.
26:22The bills remain a choice and I am going to put the bills up against a team that I have been referring to as the Cowboys North.
26:31Hmm. The Cincinnati bangles. Yeah. You finally did it.
26:34You found a team. I would put the bills over.
26:37I don't understand the bangles thing at all. People are buying it though.
26:41People are in on it. I think you're, I think you're kind of buying it.
26:45Um, no, you're buying a little, I see the gleam in your eye and NFL live and HD when they come up, I see a little twinkle.
26:54I am very skeptical still of the run defense and I have the Ravens over them still in the division.
27:00So, but I think. I'm going to lean in it kind of leading the train.
27:05Can I be skeptical of another thing? Yeah. Now I wonder, is it burrow?
27:09They can't block for like the fifth straight year.
27:12What's good about their offensive line? What's changed? I think it'll be better.
27:16Why? What are the reasons? I genuinely think it's improved.
27:19I'm more skeptical of the defense. I think the run defense is still going to be bad even with Dexter Lawrence.
27:26So, but Joe burrow says his best team yet in Cincinnati.
27:29It's the best team he's ever been around. Uh, let me tell you, Joe burrow has been really dining on that one Superbowl appearance and that one.
27:38When when my home is trying to get you to do it, my homes definitely got concussed in the second quarter and
27:45there's no way the chiefs lose otherwise. And Joe burrow has been dining on it ever since.
27:50Um, I just think let's see him stay healthy and can they win 10 games?
27:55The health is big, right? Because we talk about Lamar's health burrows missed.
27:59I think as many games, if not more. So he's had a lot of different injuries too.
28:04Yeah. I would call him Mr. Stable off the field either.
28:08I don't know. Am I just a little dubious of the bagels?
28:11All right. Well, the bangles remain an option. The bills finally came off the board.
28:16I'm going to go bangles versus bears. Hmm. I don't know how to feel about the NFC North.
28:22I told you this. I feel very mixed. I have the bears over them from a talent standpoint.
28:27There's a lot of regression things with them. I get it.
28:31We've been studying regression for 15 years. It's pretty accurate.
28:34Most of the time I get all the cases for them, but, um, one thing I like about them, they've, they've had
28:41a lot of draft picks the last couple of years.
28:44And I usually feel like that's a good indicator for, um, I don't like a team like Washington last year was an
28:51obvious regression, but they also, they were an older team.
28:54Yeah. You know, they had real holes. The schedule is going to be harder.
28:59Like you could see it. I think the bears have a lot of talent, you know?
29:04And especially like, I know Bert. Yeah. I know burden is going to be the sexy fantasy guy.
29:09I know on the, on our fantasy show, I think Craig and the Danny's are fist fighting over him, but, um, you know, and then Loveland comes on.
29:18Oh, Loveland. I would literally break my pinky finger to get Loveland in fantasy this year.
29:23I think it's weird that the Tyler Warren versus Loveland thing kind of flipped where it seemed like the dumbest decision of all time.
29:31And then by the end of it, it's like, yeah, it actually probably take Loveland.
29:35Um, I think the bears are good. I, I, I think the NFC North is a nightmare to figure out.
29:42I have no idea what to do. All right.
29:44Well, let's bring in another one. Packers, Packers versus bangles.
29:47Another, I don't know if I'm going to go bears or Packers to win the north, but it's probably gonna be one of the two.
29:55I had on the same tier, the bills, the bears, the Packers, and one other team you haven't mentioned yet.
30:02And all of them above the, of the bagels.
30:04Okay. To me, the Bengals are eight, nine or nine and eight.
30:08Like always. Yeah. Okay. Well, uh, Packers get penciled in.
30:11Also, everyone forgets the Bengals are cheap. Like they're, they just throw 40, $50 million of spending every year away.
30:18By the way, so the Patriots, but, um, but that, that's another thing.
30:22So they're so beholden on health. You, uh, you worried about the Micah Parsons injury or.
30:27Yeah. And even yet. I also, I, I gotta say, I don't, I rarely have opinion.
30:32Obviously I have opinion on every NBA contract. Cause I feel like.
30:35Yeah. I rarely have opinion on NFL contracts. Cause I don't understand them.
30:40And it just feels like we'll give you infinity dollars for 15 years.
30:44And that just. 20 void years. And everyone's like, why did the Eagles keep getting away with this?
30:49Right. With that said, the Christian Watson contract was just bizarre.
30:53Kind of like him. I kind of like. But what evidence do we have that he can play six games in a row?
31:00And yet you think they're better than the Bengals.
31:03Well, I liked, I liked Matthew golden. I thought they misused him last year.
31:07I, I watched a lot of Packers. I had him on multiple fantasy teams.
31:12I just didn't understand that. Why they used them the way they used them last year.
31:17And you like love. Of course. I do like love.
31:20I like love. I like love too. All right.
31:23I'm going to bring in a team here. This is the earliest I brought them in, but I just did their divisional preview.
31:30And in that process, I found myself really second guessing why I've been so low on them.
31:35And that's the Kansas city chiefs. Okay. Like the chiefs with Patrick, my home is do we really think is going to
31:42finish as a below average team again up again.
31:45We're putting them up against the Bengals as a reminder.
31:48The chiefs who reminder went one in nine in one score games, which is like never happened.
31:53I have them slightly above the Bengals. Okay. So chiefs.
31:56I need to sort, I need to do more research and sort my feelings out better on the chiefs.
32:02They've missed a lot of draft picks. They've had a lot of off field stuff.
32:07And I thought Andy Reed was just coaching last year with a zip lock bag around his head.
32:13I don't know what he was doing last year.
32:16And that team on and off the field was a complete mess and he took no crap for it.
32:22Um, I just don't. And then they bring back the enemy, which I thought was weird.
32:27It just, I was there for the end of the Patriots dynasty.
32:30And let me tell you, I mean, it wasn't fun.
32:33Um, it's, it's a little shades of that where you're grasping at straws.
32:38You're, you're, you're grab bringing in kind of shaky character guys.
32:41Any internal dissent stories from the chiefs, which remember when the Patriots thing was, I, I have you seen Seth Wickersham around Kansas city?
32:49No, no. Where is, where is he though? That would be a good, I would add him to my life three 60
32:55just to know what he's up to. What team, what team and player and coaches you following?
33:01Yeah. I don't know. The chiefs, they had the worst luck ever last year.
33:05And usually that flips, but then you look at the schedule and it's like, as usual, they have the worst schedule possible
33:12and they're playing every day of the week and night games.
33:16And they're out there traveling. They're all over the place.
33:19And you know, by the way, and I know you've, you've talked about this a couple of times on NFL live.
33:25Mahomes is coming back from torn ACL surgery. We're glossing that over.
33:29Like he hurt his knee at the end of the season.
33:32Every time he gets injured, he's, I know you're right.
33:36It's I am. He got injured in the summer.
33:38I know, but he comes back and he's always fine.
33:42It's weird. He's like, I felt like his scrambling was such a big part of why he was great.
33:48Yeah. And you're bringing him back after nine months.
33:50We Adrian Peterson did it, I guess, but. All right.
33:53The bangles remain on the board and let's do it.
33:57Let's do the bangle. Let's do the evil twin matchup bangles versus Cowboys.
34:01They are the same team to me. I have them right next to each other.
34:05I think they are the AFC and the NFC version of each other.
34:10I like the Cowboys a little more though. Really?
34:12Yeah, I do. I do. I'm a little higher upside, a little harder to play.
34:17Um, and, um, a little bit easier of a schedule in my opinion.
34:21Do you feel like the Dak Prescott wars are over?
34:24Like you remember, it used to be every time.
34:27We joke about like ESPN and Cowboys, but like so many, how good is Dak Prescott?
34:32Is it, do you remember Dak Prescott versus Carson Wentz?
34:35Like commanded 80% of the football conversation for years.
34:38And now it feels like everybody just admits he's good.
34:41Like he's not that divisive anymore. Do you really want him to know my thoughts on this?
34:47Yeah, I do. I have him as a top 10 QB.
34:50Okay. I literally can't remember a single playoff moment that he's had.
34:54He destroyed the Bucks. I was there. How many years ago is this?
34:58Uh, 2023. Okay. It was after the Bucks won the Super Bowl.
35:02I do not trust him in January. Regular season sounds great.
35:05Can you throw for 4,800 yards for me and 40 touchdowns?
35:08Cool. I don't know if I trust him when we get to January.
35:13Um, all right. Bengals versus Jags, who I probably should have.
35:16I kind of wish I had them higher. They kind of slipped because I was trying to provoke.
35:22I had the, I had the Jags higher than them.
35:25The Jags are hard one. Cause they're like two teams last year, right?
35:29They're the pre week nine Jags. And then, yeah.
35:32Then afterwards they become the 99 Rams. Um, They were awesome in the second half of the season.
35:37Like legitimately great. I bought in, I bet on them and pick them over and over again down the stretch.
35:44And then the playoffs, they just kicked everybody right in the protector cup.
35:48It was just awful. I'm so mad. I still can't believe they lost.
35:52All they had to do was run the ball.
35:55I don't know how they lost to Buffalo. I don't, I honestly don't.
35:59Those could not. That was a miracle. HM was getting like seven yards to carry.
36:03Well, the thing with the, this is one of the reasons I'm down on Buffalo.
36:08I don't even think they should have gotten out of that Jaguars game.
36:12Right? Yeah. The run defense was really, really bad and I don't know how much better it's going to be, but they just blew that game.
36:20That made me so mad, but listen, Lawrence will see it in the playoffs, but he at least proved that he's can be a regular season guy.
36:29And the, the Thomas piece will be the kind of swing piece.
36:33I feel like because they lucked out with Washington.
36:35They traded for Myers. And if Thomas is good, like they could actually be like kind of terrifying.
36:41I don't love that. They lost a ETN, but cause I thought he was coming on down the stretch, but we'll see.
36:48All right. Last pick of the first half bangles versus lions.
36:51The little are the, I think the lions are the favorite to win the NFC.
36:56We're talking about odds that are totally like the, that's the one where every time I look at it, I'm kind of surprised.
37:03I have the lions three levels higher than the Bengals.
37:06And in fact, the lions, I would have introduced them eight teams ago, if I were you.
37:12So you have, where would you looking at this list chargers?
37:15Would you have them above the Eagles? I have the lions in the top eight.
37:20Wow. Okay. Tell me why I'm an idiot. Cause I'm so.
37:23No, no, no, no. But that, but you, you told me schedule doesn't count.
37:28I think for me, I'm counting the schedule and they have, they're the one team where the schedule is pretty, pretty alarmingly bad.
37:35Um, but I also thought like, I, I do feel like you can talk yourself into the offensive coordinator thing, really just submarine them last year.
37:43Plus the injuries like that. There's real reasons they weren't as good as they should have been last year.
37:49I think the offense will be good. I just, right.
37:52Defense is just so injured. I don't know. I get injured and other stuff.
37:57Yeah. Like having your first round pick from two years ago, wearing an ankle bracelet right now.
38:02Not great. Um, two guys coming back, maybe not even in time for the first game.
38:07So they got to survive the first month. And yet you had them topping.
38:11Well, they just have a crazy amount of talent.
38:14No, the talent. The offensive talent is unbelievable. When I did my, my rankings, I had them fifth.
38:20In talent in the blue chip thing. Yeah. All right.
38:23Especially from an offense standpoint. Well, Lions fans have been.
38:26We're loaded everywhere. Been giving it to me for this.
38:29So maybe you're right. When did Laporta go out?
38:32Like week six? Yeah. That was a sneaky big one.
38:35And yeah, the offense was still good without him.
38:38The two sneaky ones last year were him and craft.
38:41Cause I thought craft was like starting to look like Gronk.
38:45He's right. And then he just got taken out with Parsons.
38:48So that's another thing with the green Bay. Like yeah.
38:51Factor that into craft will be back. So yeah.
38:54Yeah. All right. That's the first half. We're ending with the lions.
38:58Jesus, the Bengals, not even in the top half of the NFL.
39:02And you're right. You do like the Bengals. You try to better than 17.
39:06I don't have him top eight or whatever, but all right, we come back.
39:10Let's see if the Bengals fall stops. As you know, managing maintenance, repair and operations is never easy.

40:50The Bengals remain on the board and I am going to put them up against Minnesota.
40:55Let's do it. I love that you were like, no, I don't like the Bengals.
41:00And then you're just completely flummoxed as I take other teams over them for 20 minutes.
41:05Well, I don't have, I mean, it's going to be a top five offense probably.
41:10Top 10 at minimum. Is it? Yeah. All right.
41:13All right. Bengals versus Vikings. Well, you finally found a team I can put the Bengals ahead of.
41:18All right. Vikings. I, the Kyler Murray thing. If I had to do what you do and do NFL live and just
41:25go on a show and talk extemporaneously about the NFL every day by mid June, I would have been like, what the
41:32guy, what are you guys doing with Kyler Murray?
41:35What, what's happening right now? You think everyone's being too, like, he'll be fine.
41:39The Cardinals paid for him to go away. Yeah.
41:42Which not everyone. It was like his contract expired.
41:45They were like, no, we'll take the cap it.
41:48We have to move on from this. Do you think he could beat up van Lathen?
41:53Do I think he could beat up van Lathen?
41:56Don't answer. Does he boxed? If he, if he hasn't bought van has boxing experience.
42:00I think van could take a extremely unnecessarily long conversation.
42:03We had the taping of the watchables was which NFL quarterbacks van Lathen could actually beat up.
42:09He definitely beats up Kyler Murray. I don't think there's any question.
42:12Um, but yeah, I don't, I don't, the quarterback thing.
42:16Honestly is KOC. Is this it for him in Minnesota?
42:19If it doesn't work. Yeah. He, I, I saw him.
42:22He seemed a little defensive. I saw him on, I don't know if it was Eisen or something or Dan Patrick, where
42:29he was like, well, every time I've had, average quarterback play, it's been like, we've won 10 games and it felt like pretty defensive.
42:36Um, I might, first of all, Sam Darnall was better than average and then proved it in Seattle the next year.
42:43And they completely screwed that up. Right. Second, he, he touted JJ McCarthy to us all last year.
42:49I know. And talked about his zoom calls. He did with JJ every day and all this stuff.
42:54And then JJ couldn't have been worse. But every reporter was like, JJ was entirely the GM's pick.
43:00The coaching staff had nothing to do with it.
43:03Right. Yeah. They, they all throw each other over the, under the bus.
43:07Kyler will look good for three weeks. He'll scheme some different things for him to run around and do stuff.
43:13And then the teams will figure them out and they'll go one and eight to finish the season.
43:19And we won't hear from them again. I love the Minnesota fans.
43:22I feel bad, but that team's not going to be good.
43:26All right. Well, will they be better than the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?
43:30Cause that's your next choice. I think the bucks will be better.
43:33Do you have the bucks off top? The NFC South before we continue.
43:38Oh, you'd like, I would decide anything on the NFC South on July 20th.
43:42What are you doing? I need another five weeks.
43:45I need to do dark arts. I need, I need to wear garlic and, and go to a cemetery.
43:51The Panthers last year were the ones that were like this, if I ever saw, I hated so much when they would
43:58make me, because they make us pick the games on TV.
44:01And every time they would say the Panthers, I would try to hide from the camera.
44:06Yeah. Insane team. Um, the bucks I feel like could be good.
44:10So the coach piece of it where it's the classic.
44:13I thought you were going to fire your coach last year.
44:16Oh, you didn't he's back. It feels like that never works in the NFL.
44:21And it like a good example is the jets was Sala when they were like, yeah, we're going to bring him back.
44:28It's fine. And then by week five, he's gone.
44:31I just, I would have him circled in the first coach fired rankings.
44:35Cause I thought he should have been fired after the season.
44:38They do have some talent though. Right. Um, and they're in a bad division.
44:42Good offensive line. They're in a division where nobody in the division has better than two to one odds to win the
44:49division, which I don't even know how that works.
44:52Where's Baker on your tears? He's in the middle.
44:55I didn't love the last eight Baker games. Yeah.
44:58Remember when we were doing the MVP, we are all doing our pods Baker MVP.
45:03Yeah. Week seven. He was just chucking it to the other team.
45:06Um, all right. But you have them over the Vikings.
45:09I do. Obvious reasons. By the way, we talked about the Vikings.
45:13I'm going to go Vikings. This is, this is okay.
45:16So there's like the bottom 10 or the bottom eight teams are very obvious.
45:21This is the like tier where you don't really know, you know, it's just, it's a mess.
45:26I'm going to go. T Steelers here. Vikings V Steelers.
45:29I had the Vikings over the Steelers. Okay. I think the Steelers I have in my bottom 10.
45:35Really? Yeah. Yeah. You know what we can't do this year is that, well, it's Mike Tomlin.
45:40He always goes nine and eight. He always, he always makes the playoffs.
45:44He's not there anymore. We can't do that anymore.
45:47Yeah. So what are we going to do? TJ Watt, who basically died in the second half of the season.
45:53Highsmith's like what? How old is he? 35, 37.
45:56Somewhere in there. Aaron Rogers is 42. 42. That one.
45:59I do know. 42. It's quite possible. The best part of their offense is Kenneth Gainwell.
46:04He's gone. Oh, what team is he on? I actually, I knew this actually.
46:09Let me look him up. Where did he go?
46:12Tampa? So Jalen Moore is Jalen Warren. Yeah. Tampa.
46:14I love Kenneth Gainwell. That's my guy. See, I finally effed up.
46:18I've been. I had the wrong. Nobody knows that Kevin Gainwell plays for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
46:24No, but that's like, well, Americans. Now my opinion is invalidated because I forgot he changed teams.
46:29Um, no, but yeah, I don't. I thought the Steelers, I didn't understand how they even won as many games as they did last year.
46:37I didn't understand it as it was happening. Uh, all right then 20 Steelers versus commanders.
46:42Oof. I had them right next to each other.
46:45Uh, I have the Steelers. Okay. A whiff ahead of the commanders.
46:48The commanders feel like like the vibes from the commanders.
46:51I do like that. They lower their average age from like 35 to 27 though.
46:56That's a good move. The sunny styles thing is going to be fun.
47:00Yeah, he's good. Maybe we'll get a healthy Jaden Daniels with Terry.
47:04Terry McLaurin won't have come back from a holdout and just immediately gotten hurt, which seems who's going to be the guy
47:11this year who does the Terry McLaurin. I don't know that guy who comes back and just gets hurt immediately.
47:17Could be percent. Is he holding out? Did you not know this?
47:21This is my favorite story in the NFL. I did not know this.
47:25Jacoby Brissett was like, I'm the starter. Pay me like a starter.
47:29And on one half, everyone was like, what are you doing?
47:32But on the other hand, people were like, there really is no one else there.
47:37They, I feel like there's no sentence that better captures the state of the Arizona Cardinals right now better than Jacoby Brissett is holding out.
47:45So great. I had no idea. So what? So in NFL Live.
47:49It might be over now. We haven't talked about NFL Live, but I think he might, he might, it might be over, but he's disgruntled.
47:56I was going to say an NFL Live. Is that like a Friday of July 4th weekend?
48:02No, we have rankings to react to. Okay. We have Lamar Jackson being ranked 69th on the NFL player list.
48:08Is that true? Yeah. Below Bo Nix. Jesus. Okay.
48:11The commander. So you took the commanders over. Wait, where we were.
48:15Steelers. No, I took Steelers over the commanders. Okay.
48:17So commanders are still an option. Let's throw them up against the team that I am.
48:22I kind of like in the NFC South. You're only saints.
48:26I know you like them. We were texting about this a little bit.
48:30I have the saints above the Steelers and the commanders.
48:33Okay. Where we have Tyler Shuck. You a Shuck boy.
48:36Been a fan the whole year. McShay was on him from day one.
48:40Kudos to him. He really won me over. I don't know why I watched as much saints on league pass.
48:47I, I don't really have an explanation for it, but he took big hits.
48:51Yeah. He, he was an end of the game.
48:54Like would actually feel like he got better. I didn't love his weapons kept getting hurt and it just didn't matter.
49:00He, I really like him. I think he's good.
49:03I like him too. I like, you know, they, they were like sneaky competent as the season went along.
49:09No question. They screwed up a bunch of parlays and they were, they were a dangerous team to go against.
49:15I'll tell you another thing. This is how deep my prep went at Mina Kimes.
49:20I think their offensive line is going to be pretty good.
49:24I do too. Yeah. They might actually be able to block.
49:27They got David Edwards from the bills. Yeah. The tackles look kind of nice.
49:31They got Travis. A-chan is now a saint. Also they kept Alvin Kamara.
49:36So there's no like bad, angry vibes. So they paid him a little bit to like wind things down.
49:42And they have a, I didn't love the Tyson pick.
49:45Cause I don't like, I don't like injury histories with in college.
49:48I just feel like that's going to keep happening.
49:51Good player. And then they have a lobby who everyone wrote off because of the concussions, but then he played the whole year last year.
49:59I really liked Vele. The, the, he got hurt halfway through, but I had him on my fantasy team when he got hurt.
50:06It was kind of devastating. That might be a little, they threw them all the time for, for like a month.
50:13I had a, I have a lava on mine and last year was amazing.
50:17My I'm the one I'm in with Danny Kelly.
50:20Yeah. I'm in a league with Danny Kelly and all his high school friends.
50:25And Chris Olave was big, big for me. He's great.
50:28It's a classic zag fantasy guy where everybody gave up on him and you just kind of swoop in and grab them.
50:35All right. I think the saints could win that division and Vegas does too.
50:39They're he's they're like plus two 30. Wow. Really?
50:42Yeah. It's NFC South. All right. Commies versus a team that I keep saying, I don't know what to do it.
50:48The Colts. I had the Colts way above them.
50:51Really? How much above them? Two levels. Wow. Yeah.
50:54Okay. So you, where are you, where are you at on the Daniel Jones injury threat level?
50:59Because that's why I don't know what to do with them.
51:03I don't know. I don't know. I just know the Colts were really good last year and they made the big sauce
51:10Gardner trade who immediately got hurt right after Daniel Jones got hurt.
51:13And then they just fell apart completely. But that team was pretty good last year for eight weeks.
51:19Now I know they lost Pittman, but the Taylor Taylor's in a contract year, right?
51:24I don't know if he is, but he's on the team.
51:27So yeah, that's a little concerning, but I think they'll be fine.
51:31I could see them sneaking in as a seven seed.
51:34All right. Well, there's going to be a bad nine and eight playoff team and everybody thinks it's going to be the
51:41Bengals, but I think it could be like three other teams.
51:45Okay. Commies are falling. Yeah. Commanders versus let's, let's just wrap up the NFC scenario.
51:49Well, no, we got two more NFC South teams.
51:52Let's do the Panthers here. Commanders versus Panthers. I had the Panthers way above them.
51:57Wow. Okay. So what this is telling me is that you're very low on the commanders is.
52:02I'm low on the commanders, but I actually, the Panthers, I think are my favorite NFC South team.
52:08I need to do more research on it. Well, the defense should be good, right?
52:12I mean, they added like legit stars. Here's the thing.
52:16I value playoffs and NBA and NFL player performance.
52:18Did you show up? They played awesome against the Rams.
52:22Like that matters. They, it wasn't like they snuck into the playoffs and then they actually like showed up for that game.
52:28And I saw the Holy Cross grad, Jalen Coker.
52:31I saw him at the Bob Cousy thing. We sat next to him that, but they honored Bob Cousy and was talking
52:38about it and not to talk out of school, but he was just like, yeah, we almost beat the Rams.
52:44Like we were right there. We should have beaten them.
52:48Like I'm still mad about it. And I thought the same way.
52:51Like they could have beaten them. The thing about the, this is why I was saying like, I hate picking Panthers games.
52:58Cause there'd be one week where they would look like the worst team in the NFL and lose to, you know, the Falcon or some other team.
53:07Like, and then the next team they would go toe to toe or like they, they, they played the Rams.
53:13They beat the Rams right in the regular season.
53:16Am I misremembering? So it was just such a weird ride, especially with Bryce Young that I don't know.
53:22It was Bryce Young related and that's going to be the issue as always.
53:26But so I think to me, McMillan's like at least a red chipper and might even be close to a blue chipper
53:33the way he was playing at the end of the year.
53:37Their O-line is going to be pretty good. They have a bunch of good guys on defense.
53:42I had four guys that got points for them.
53:45And then their special teams are good. Yeah. Right.
53:48And then are they the team that got Gannon?
53:50They were right. Uh, no, the Packers. Oh, the Packers.
53:54Carolina got somebody good too, though. Their coach, their defensive coach is really good.
53:58I actually almost had them as a top 10 defense, which is crazy, but yes.
54:03Um, okay. I kind of like commanders keep the NFC South.
54:06Uh, the commanders keep falling. Will the Atlanta Falcons stop their fall?
54:10No, I had the Falcons above them and I don't feel good about it.
54:14New coach. So there's going to be a new coach bump team.
54:18It happens every year. Could it be the Falcons?
54:21Um, and the answer is probably not because of their quarterback situation, but they do, you know, they're going to be able to block.
54:28They have some weapons. Good weapons. They've spent and drafted real capital on their defense, whether you could say it paid off, who knows?
54:36They're going to be able to block. But, um, I just think they have more talent.
54:41Yeah. I don't trust Daniels to stay healthy at all.
54:44I just don't. Like you've stood next to him, right?
54:47He's he's just I have stood next to him.
54:50He feels like he weighs like 175 pounds. He had.
54:53Okay. Here's a trivia question, football trivia question for you.
54:56Cause I just looked this up. So he had a 16% scramble rate last year, which was the highest in the NFL.
55:03That is the second highest in modern NFL history.
55:06Meaning scrambling. Who do you think was the first NFL history?
55:09Please don't tell me Drake may. No, but Drake Bay was the top 25.
55:14Yeah. Who is number one? Vic 2003. Wow. But other than that, so Lamar's never come close to that.
55:20Right. Um, other than that, Vic only topped it once.
55:23And it was when he played five games. Like, so anyway, my point is like, he gotta stop scrambling so much.
55:30Cause he's going to get looney tunes. Did you watch in the, you know, in the world cup, the red card, when
55:36the, um, the art, the Spanish, I can't remember which player it was, did like a full 360.
55:42Oh yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I was thinking about Jane Daniels watching that when it happened.
55:47Cause it reminded me of like a hit Jane Daniels would have taken in college.
55:52I do not love that. This is the Patriots tried to do this with may.
55:57They didn't want him scrambling. Cause he kept taking, he kept getting head hits.
56:01Yeah. And, uh, and so last year you could see when he scrambled, he was really nervous about it.
56:07Interesting. Cause they were so in his head about just go down, don't take hits.
56:12And I actually think that led to him being a little careless with the football sometimes.
56:17Cause he was, he wasn't just like the way Josh Allen is or Josh Allen's like, I am scrambling linebacker.
56:23I know that's even drink. May is big. Josh Allen is not a normal size man.
56:28Like drink is way bigger than Jaden Daniels though.
56:31Is the salient point. Yes. Yes. You know, when you're locked in focus and fearless, welcome to the WNBA, your vision narrows.
56:38You can't look away. Every assist, every stop, every logo three.
56:41Every, every, did you see that moment? You bet.
56:44What records are going to be broken this season?
56:47All of it right here. Lock in. It's the WNBA on ESPN all season long.
56:51All right. We are down commanders versus, already got the Colts.
56:55Panthers came off the board. Let's go giants. I have them right next to each other.
57:00I coin flip. I'll say the commanders just so we can stop saying their name.
57:05I think the giants fans in my life are badly overrating John Harbaugh, who was going to get fired the year before Lamar showed up.
57:12And even the year that before he started playing them.
57:16And I don't know. I think they have a great front office.
57:19Harbaugh is fine. I don't think he's going to be a miracle worker.
57:23They think he, they think he, they have a great front office.
57:27No, the Ravens do. Oh, I'm so sorry. You're talking about the Ravens.
57:31Yeah. Yeah. No, the giants, the giants might, but I thought he dined off a lot of good Ravens stuff.
57:38Uh, yeah, I, I, the Malik neighbors thing is just freaking me out too much.
57:42No one knows part that they're like, he's not coming back until he's a hundred percent.
57:47Perfect. I, the people are scrutinizing like celebrity dodgeball games and noticing he's walking with like a slight limp in them.
57:54I, that's never. Do not like that. Um, okay.
57:57I wish I, I, there was a better version of that draft that I just wish they had done.
58:03Yeah. Where they took Reese and yeah. And, and then got downs and just said, screw it.
58:08We're going all in. We're going to have a sick defense.
58:11We're just going to have the sickest defense. I heard what you said about Carter and I completely agree.
58:17Oh, he's so good. I think Carter's, I had him in my player rankings.
58:22I put him higher than he's probably supposed to be.
58:25Cause no, that'll, that'll age. Well, I think. Yeah.
58:28Cause part of the problem with that team was they, you know, that a lot of the times they didn't have the lead.
58:35Yeah. So you never, you never got to see the giants with the lead.
58:39I was like good pass rushes when you're up 10, it's completely different when you know you're throwing.
58:45So imagine seeing miles Garrett was a lead though.
58:48Seriously. It's horrible. And Aaron Donald. Okay. Giants versus.
58:51Raiders. Oh, uh, giants. Okay. The Raiders are in my bottom five.
58:54Well, we're in the bottom five now. So are we?
58:58Yeah, I guess this is the, uh, yeah. One, two, three, four, bottom six.
59:02All right. Raiders versus let's do Raiders versus Titans.
59:05Yeah. It's appropriate sound. I don't understand the Raiders thing where they're pretending Mendoza is not going to be the quarterback to like week 13.
59:13Everybody does this. They always do this, but we know we're going to see him in like October 5th.
59:19When did Drake may actually start now? I'm forgetting.
59:21We, it was like fifth or sixth game. Right.
59:24They were like, he won't play. He's not, he's never, he should never touch a football.
59:29I shouldn't even look at a football. And then we just like, yeah.
59:33And then cousins too. Although they'll be able to block.
59:37I think. Okay. I think their line's going to be okay.
59:40Certainly better than last year when Gentry was just getting tackled behind the line every play, but I feel like we'll see him sooner.
59:47So I would say Raiders just cause I think when Mendoza plays, they'll probably get bumped a little bit.
59:53But I mean, the bigger question to me is as Tom Brady starts to act more and more bizarre, is that going to start affecting their team?
60:02He is like a part owner of the team.
60:05Doing WWE promos during just, it's just, is it hurting you emotionally, personally?
60:09It honestly, it's not, it's more of so many people ask me about it.
60:13And I'm just like, look, man, these guys all fly too close to the sun and they don't know how to replace
60:20it once they don't have it anymore. And it's over and over again, the best athletes ever.
60:25They just, they don't know how to replace it.
60:28You end up doing, doing WWE segments with one of the Paul brothers.
60:32I feel like this is the greatest quarterback ever.
60:35Like, you know, just like, like, we don't see, we never saw Steve young doing, I don't even know.
60:41I guess it must be more a generation. Like what?
60:44The best is Montana for this. Yeah. Just Montana was effing cool.
60:48As soon as he was done, he just like, he just levitated above the sport.
60:53Yeah. I don't, I don't know what he's doing.
60:56Listen, if he's happy, I'm happy. He brought us six Super Bowls.
60:59He seems relatively happy. Okay. Setting aside that digression.
61:02So the Raiders, you took the Raiders over the Titans, right?
61:06Yeah. Okay. So Titans versus. There's one. Oh, Titans.
61:08Am I leaving anyone out? Obvious? No. You think there's a team that I should be, that I should have higher of the team.
61:16I'm higher on then. You might be surprised. I've got to be surprised.
61:20Cause I'm looking at this bottom five and they've been the bottom five every time.
61:25So you're the Titans over the jets. Okay. If you're a jets fan, are you worried at all?
61:30That Gino is just marginally like competent. I'm not, you know, I've taken my lumps there and that you play yourself out
61:37of the Archmanning sweepstakes because they've, because Gino's in a situation now significantly better, right?
61:42Than what he was last year with the jets.
61:45One would think. After watching Gino play last year.
61:48I don't think that's. You're not worried. You're feeling.
61:51You're definitely not worried about the jets. It is funny though.
61:54I hear the pain in your voice. Every time Gino comes up.
61:58Probably the single biggest L I've taken. Yeah, but we all have them.
62:02Yeah. That it's, you didn't know he was just going to suddenly turn into the worst quarterback of all time out of nowhere.
62:09He was really horrible last year. Yeah. Okay. I can't believe you're starting for anyone.
62:14Like there's gotta be. You're not worried. No, I actually.
62:17I'm gonna try my flag. I think he's going to be better than at least a couple of the quarterbacks remaining on this list.
62:24I really do. But that we're, we are at the bottom of the NFL.
62:29Um, okay. Mm. Mm. 29 jets versus. Browns. Uh, I have the Browns and I actually have the Browns in that Steelers.
62:36Okay. Commanders. That's the one you were talking about.
62:39Interesting. Yeah. I think the Browns are interesting. Every year.
62:42I, every year there's a terrible team. That makes the playoffs.
62:45And if you really try to rack your brain and try to figure out who it's never a team that makes sense.
62:52And I haven't decided who I'm picking for that category yet, but I keep looking at the Browns for some reason.
62:59Is it just the defense? Cause the defense should be good dish.
63:02At least above average. The Browns have good players.
63:05Like they have good players on defense. Yeah. They, I think have a couple of good offensive player.
63:11I thought Judkins was a monster down there. You're a fan and junior.
63:15It's awesome. Fan and junior. Yeah. I like it.
63:18Six tight end. Okay. Two wide receivers in the, in the thirties in the draft just now.
63:23Counterpoint. The last time we saw just Sean Watson play football, he was 44th in the paper drop back and then he or his Achilles.
63:31And then sure. Sanders last year was like 42nd.
63:34I get it. I get it. But to me, it's like, why are they going to be worse than the Falcons?
63:40The Falcons have the same terrible quarterback situation. They're not as bad.
63:44Who's, who's more likely to have the number one overall pick next year?
63:48The jets or the Browns jets. Wow. I think the Browns have too much talent.
63:53All right. All right, cool. All right. Well, the jets remain an option.
63:57Let's go jets versus Cardinals. Cardinals. Cardinals are another one where they do have a couple of guys.
64:03I just feel like the jets, we know where this season's going and Aaron, Aaron Glenn, whether you have to fire him during this season.
64:10Yeah. It's a pre firing. Um, the quarterback situation's abysmal.
64:14I didn't even really, I honestly didn't love their draft.
64:17I know people got excited about it, but everyone's like, they got three first runners.
64:21Well, they got three first runners. Cause they traded the best players in their team to get two of the first rounders.
64:28Right. I don't know. Uh, I mean the Cardinals in this division or in this exercise, you have to take out the division, right?
64:36Cause they get so punished by the fact that they're in the NFC West, but if they weren't in the NFC West,
64:43I don't think maybe they would be viewed as bad or abysmally.
64:47All right. I mean, listen Cardinals dolphins jets are all going to be terrible.
64:51I don't do the jets versus dolphins then for 31.
64:54Yeah. I, I have, uh, when you did your blue chipper thing with the dolphins, H and I'll read it to you.
65:01Okay. I had the jets last. I had the dolphins slightly ahead of them at H and sealer and Brooks plus, plus the kicker the jets.
65:09I gave a minus two for quarterback. Um, I don't, I don't mind Willis.
65:14I like, I just, and there's a chance our offensive line's not going to be terrible.
65:19And the thing was really weird last year. Imagine if Willis was a Brown, where would, do you have them?
65:25Like it'd be so fun. Well, can we talk the Browns thing out for a second?
65:30Cause you think it's going to be Sanders or Watson?
65:33Those are the only two choices I'm gonna have.
65:36Yeah. Nobody else. What about tiny, tiny Dylan Gabriel?
65:39I can't, it's over. It's over. Everything else out of Cleveland suggests it's going to be Sanders versus Watson.
65:45Sanders was pretty bad last year, but nobody's going to be worse than two on the Falcons.
65:50Like if we're going to start dinging quarterbacks to and Gino, we're as bad as Sanders.
65:55Sanders at least did a couple of things. I don't, there's bad quarterbacks everywhere.
65:59All right. I just think dolphins or Cardinals or their jets.
66:03I'm going to put the dolphins last because they clearly don't want to be good this year.
66:08And neither did the jets, but I think the dolphins have an easier path to not being good.
66:14And they have a coach that signed up for the program.
66:17Yeah. Whereas the jets don't jets might try to win a couple of games first week, first month.
66:23Yeah. Right. It does feel like everyone in Miami knows what the score is, except for my equalist who signed there.
66:29I had, I had five Browns on defense that I gave points to.
66:34I like the Browns defense. I just, yeah, no, I mean, it's absolutely defensible for the Browns to be the top.
66:40You could, they couldn't do it. They couldn't do a Judkins, 1600 rushing yards defense, a lot of 13 and 10 games
66:47or just cause Jim Schwartz is there. I think the defense is good, but you took out the best defensive player of a generation.
66:55There's going to be a little bit of an impact there or Ewing theory.
66:59They never went anything with them. Who's more likely to benefit from the Ewing theory, the Eagles or the Browns defense?
67:06Browns defense. Yeah. The Eagles don't qualify cause they already won the title.
67:10That's fair. All right. Has your life been different since you won the title?
67:14Do you feel like just happier and nicer and more pleasant?
67:17Um, I feel similarly to the last time they won that this next season is kind of a gimme.
67:23Like when people always ask me, did Superbowl 49 break your soul?
67:27And I always say no, because they had just won.
67:30It's still going to be wrong. It sucked. And I didn't talk to anyone for like three days, but if we had,
67:37if the Seattle hadn't won the year before, I don't know if I could have kept watching football after that.
67:44But they just won. You know? That's how I fought with the Celtics.
67:48Cause I was joking about England, how, what a terrible loss that was.
67:52And people were like, you, how was it different when the Celtics choked against the next?
67:57Cause you won. I was like, well, we won the year before.
68:00I got over that pretty fast. Totally. It gives you, um, like emotional bandwidth for a few years.
68:06So, so whatever happens this year happens, like all the Ram stuff.
68:10It's like, eh, okay. You know, they'll probably win.
68:13Well, there's some interesting. Yeah. I don't know. I think you have real back to back potential, which puts you in another stratosphere.
68:20Well, that's a much shorter list of NFL teams.
68:23Very hard to do. I also, I had your coach as the best coach or the coaching staff just in general, but.
68:30I love him. I think he's so good. Yeah.
68:32Cause you really could have won every game. You could have, you could have gotten 19 and 0.
68:38He's awesome. All right. Here's the final rankings. I want you to tell me which team is gonna be the maddest, even though I think it's pretty obvious.
68:47Seahawks Rams Broncos Patriots Texans Niners Ravens Chargers Eagles bills are your top 10.
68:51Bears Packers Chiefs Cowboys Jags Lions Bengals Bucks Vikings Steelers 20.
68:55Okay. Saints Colts Panthers Falcons Commanders Giants Raiders Titans Browns Cardinals Jets Dolphins.
68:59What's funny is that's not even, I like how you did this.
69:03Cause now I still feel like I can do my rankings.
69:06Cause the way you did it. I had an appearance.
69:09Like I have the lions at 16 there. I think they're going to be better team.
69:14That will be the maddest is probably, I would say the Jaguars.
69:18Yeah. The Jaguars. I'm like, we were really good last year.
69:21Yeah. I know that Bill's game and we easily could have made the AFC title.
69:26I think I'm a higher on the Jaguars in this list.
69:30I think the Bengals fan Bengals fans are thinking Superbowl.
69:33So you're, you're a lot lower on them than they are on themselves.
69:37What freaking world did they live in? Why are they thinking Superbowl?
69:41Well, if you, if that happens, this clip will, this podcast will be clipped off approximately in 100 times.
69:47So we'll see. Listen, I don't know what camera look at.
69:50Bring it on. The Bengals are not making the Superbowl.
69:53Wow. Please aggregate this out of all my orifices.
69:56There's no chance. The Bengals will not make the Superbowl period.
69:59It's not happening. All right. I have no comment on that.
70:03Bill, thank you so much. This is a great rankings.
70:06Dare say the best rankings yet. Oh, thanks Mina.
70:09Check out the hitch rewatchables. Yeah. Which is out by the time this comes out.
70:14Or crazy, stupid, love rewatchables. That was a great one.
70:17That was a banger. People like that one. Yeah.
70:20It's a great movie. We learned a lot about Mina Kimes on that rewatchables too.
70:24A little too much. All right. This, just to the AFC West by the time this comes out, or which means I
70:31believe the NFC South, woof, is going to be the next division to hit your ears.
70:36Good luck with that one. Can anyone win nine games?
70:39We'll see. Also joining the ringer fantasy show. I think this week, maybe the same day this comes out or the next
70:46day to talk about their final hot quarterbacks rankings.
70:49Have you been following this? I have. They're very excited about it.
70:53It was a great idea. I'm glad you were able to help them with some guidance.
70:58Some bad rankings on that list. Listen, I gave up on this like 12 years ago when I did a whole mailbag
71:05thing and somebody talked about how handsome Eli Manning was.
71:08And I was just like, I just, I don't.
71:11I don't see it. And it was like, yeah.
71:13And Katie Baker was like, oh, all women think Eli Manning's handsome.
71:17I'm like, what? I just had, I have no radar for this at all.
71:22So I would have been a bad asset. On behalf of the Omaha productions producers who make the show, Eli is very handsome and very talented.
71:30All right. Bye guys. See you later.
