A.J. Brown

NegativeRole0:49

AJ Brown was traded away from the Eagles, removing a boundary sideline winning vertical plane wide receiver from the offense.

Insight page

Aaron Rodgers

NegativeProjection0:50

Aaron Rodgers is placed in the 'move on' tier, with the analyst suggesting it's time for the Steelers to move on from him, though they refuse to do so.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:50

Aaron Rodgers is described as 'fine' by the analyst.

Insight page

Anthony Richardson

NegativeProjection0:35

Despite a 70-yard touchdown pass in Week 1, Anthony Richardson's profile is inconsistent with reading the field and accuracy still being a huge work in progress, and his inability to stay healthy has prevented him from developing.

Insight page
NegativeProjection0:36

The analyst is much less bullish on Anthony Richardson hitting the top-10 upside he once projected, having been a top-10 player on his board coming out but now doubting he reaches that ceiling.

Insight page

Baker Mayfield

PositiveRole0:53

Baker Mayfield battled through injuries and had an offensive line that didn't do him many favors, with a rotating arsenal of wide receivers dealing with injuries throughout the season.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:53

Baker Mayfield is placed in the 'good' tier just behind Trevor Lawrence, with the analyst noting lots of ups and downs last year, including turnover-worthy plays that regressed to the mean mid-season.

Insight page
PositiveUsage0:54

Baker Mayfield used his legs significantly more last year than ever before, showing additional upside beyond his arm talent.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:54

The key questions for Baker Mayfield going forward are whether he can stay healthy and clean up his decision-making, which are always concerns for a 6-foot tall quarterback.

Insight page

Bo Nix

PositiveProjection0:26

Placed in good tier; has better floor and more stable foundation than other 2024 QBs like Michael Penix; Sean Payton is a perfect fit for his skill set.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:26

Numbers are better than Drake Maye, Caleb Williams, and Jaden Daniels, but analyst doesn't see the same special talent level; won't be the guy to take over games in big moments.

Insight page

Brock Purdy

PositiveProjection0:52

Brock Purdy is placed in the 'good' tier just ahead of Sam Darnold and ahead of Jared Goff due to his off-script creation ability, strong anticipation, timing, and great touch despite not having an elite arm.

Insight page

Bryce Young

PositiveProjection0:20

Firmly in OK tier with inconsistent performance; has moments of competence but also plays that look like a high schooler against NFL players, with fumbles and poor decision-making.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:21

Could potentially elevate into the good tier with another year of development under Dave Canales, improved weapons, and better consistency; analyst sees possible jump from 60-40 good-to-bad ratio to 70-30 or 75-25.

Insight page
PositiveRole0:22

Excellent pocket mobility and feel for pressure; top 5-10 in the league at navigating the pocket with innate sense of when to step back, step up, or drift.

Insight page

C.J. Stroud

NegativeProjection0:32

CJ Stroud's end-of-season performance showed concerning signs with turnovers and fumbles piling up, making him look like a guy with the yips who needed to be benched, a stark contrast to his rookie year form.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:32

Placed in good tier; still a good quarterback but analyst indicates this ranking would have been different a year ago, suggesting some decline or concern.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:34

With Tank Dell back, second year in Nick Haley's scheme, and offensive line additions, the analyst is bullish on CJ Stroud bouncing back despite the rough taste left from last season.

Insight page

Caleb Williams

PositiveProjection0:23

Placed in great tier despite being a work in progress; has arm talent and athleticism that produces plays not seen before, with strong finish to 2024 season showing growth in big moments.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:24

Looks like the number one overall pick for good reason and is absolutely one of the best quarterbacks in the NFC; analyst projects he will look even better with another year working with Ben Johnson.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:44

Caleb Williams was the analyst's number one quarterback coming out of the draft class and still has the higher ceiling, ascending with the way he ended last season, though Drake Maye is currently ranked slightly ahead.

Insight page

Cam Ward

PositiveProjection0:46

Cam Ward is placed in the TBD tier but the analyst notes he will not stay there, suggesting future movement in the rankings.

Insight page

Dak Prescott

PositiveProjection0:24

Placed in great tier; provides more down-to-down consistency than Caleb Williams over a full season, though Caleb's high watermark slightly edges him out.

Insight page
PositiveRole0:25

Excellent accuracy, timing, and leadership; still athletic enough to make plays happen despite losing mobility and athleticism since his leg injury.

Insight page
NegativeInjury0:25

Has lost some mobility and athleticism since his leg injury, though accuracy and timing remain elite.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:57

The analyst has Dak Prescott ranked above both Jaden Daniels and Jalen Hurts in the tier ranking.

Insight page

Daniel Jones

PositiveProjection0:34

Daniel Jones had the best year of his career before getting hurt, showing improved accuracy and deep ball work under Shane Steichen, and deserved a contract extension.

Insight page
NegativeInjury0:34

Daniel Jones tore his Achilles, creating uncertainty about his future performance and recovery timeline.

Insight page

Drake Maye

PositiveProjection0:44

Drake Maye is ranked just behind Justin Herbert at the top of the great tier, was the MVP runner-up last year, and the analyst is super bullish on him with improved receiver talent including AJ Brown, Romeo Dobbs, and Elijah Moore.

Insight page

Fernando Mendoza

PositiveRole0:09

Mendoza, the Raiders' number one overall pick, will have Kirk Cousins as a mentor. The analyst notes Mendoza only had three snaps under center last year, so there's a clear mentor-mentee relationship being established, with Cousins providing experience in Clint Kubiak's scheme.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:46

Fernando Mendoza is placed in the TBD tier, indicating uncertainty about his NFL development and role.

Insight page

Geno Smith

NegativeProjection0:42

Geno Smith is starting for the Jets this year but the analyst puts him in the move-on tier because the Raiders moved on for a reason, and the Jets are already looking ahead to drafting a quarterback in 2027.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:53

Geno Smith is ranked just ahead of Mac Jones, with the analyst noting he would take Geno over Mac in a vacuum.

Insight page

Jacoby Brissett

NegativeProjection0:05

Brissett is placed in the move on/backup tier. While he's a solid backup and has exceeded expectations as a starter, he lacks the talent ceiling of Kyler Murray and is well above 30 years old, making him unlikely to be a long-term solution if he's a starting quarterback.

Insight page

Jalen Hurts

NegativeProjection0:48

Jalen Hurts had a rough year with some instances where AJ Brown didn't go all out for the ball and Hurts' reads against zone coverage could be tricked, creating uncertainty about his fit in the new offense.

Insight page
PositiveRole0:49

Jalen Hurts is being asked to do something different in the new offense under Sean Manion, attacking the middle field rather than the vertical plane he excelled at before, and he's been okay but not great at it.

Insight page
PositiveRole0:49

With the new Eagles offense under Sean Manion attacking the middle of the field with McKay Lemon and Eli Stowers, Jalen Hurts is being asked to do something different that he hasn't done much in college or the NFL, and he's been okay but not great at it.

Insight page
NegativeProjection0:50

There are enough questions about Jalen Hurts' profile and the new coaching change that the analyst is hesitant about his outlook, placing him in the 'good' tier rather than 'great.'

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:50

Jalen Hurts is a good quarterback and the analyst would take him over Aaron Rodgers in a vacuum.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:51

The analyst previously had Jalen Hurts as QB5 in the elite tier a couple years ago but now has questions about whether defenses have figured him out and how he'll adapt to the new system.

Insight page

Jameis Winston

NegativeProjection0:47

Jameis Winston is a backup quarterback, though the analyst thought the Bengals should have entertained signing him last year to create a YOLO ball team with Lamar Jackson and him.

Insight page

Jared Goff

PositiveProjection0:28

Solid, capable point-and-shoot quarterback placed just behind Bo Nix in good tier; good enough to win games with strong offensive coordinator and weapons.

Insight page
NegativeBust0:29

Hesitation about his ability to deliver in clutch moments; analyst has seen him miss hitch throws in critical situations like 4th and 4 in championship games.

Insight page
PositiveRole0:29

Has improved his response to pressure since becoming a Lion; much more poised in the face of pressure than earlier in his career.

Insight page

Jayden Daniels

PositiveProjection0:54

Jaden Daniels is placed at the back end of the 'great' tier despite missing much of last year and not being the same when on the field, due to his historic rookie season and the analyst's belief that he has higher long-term upside than Jalen Hurts.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:55

When looking at a two-year sample size, Jaden Daniels had an insane historic rookie season, and the analyst believes he is better than Jalen Hurts long-term despite Hurts winning the Super Bowl.

Insight page
PositiveInjury0:55

Jaden Daniels was plagued by injuries in his second year, which the analyst doesn't want to hold against him as it was a concern coming out of LSU due to his skinny frame.

Insight page
PositiveRole0:55

The Commanders' new offense under David Blow will be dictated around Jaden Daniels as a superstar quarterback they want to build around, unlike the Eagles bringing in Sean Manion to adjust to Jalen Hurts.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:56

The analyst would rather have Jaden Daniels over Jalen Hurts for the next five years if Daniels stays healthy, citing higher ceiling and upside.

Insight page

Joe Burrow

PositiveProjection0:14

Burrow is placed in the elite tier, slightly ahead of Lamar Jackson. He's one of the best in the league at playing with anticipation and timing, has great touch, and his arm strength has improved at the NFL level. However, two season-ending injuries must now be factored into his profile.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:25

Elite quarterback who is great at winning with accuracy, timing, and anticipation; mirrors Dak Prescott in many ways but is considered elite rather than just great in those departments.

Insight page

Joe Flacco

PositiveRole0:16

Solid backup quarterback with strong arm talent and high-level understanding of the game; can go 5-0 if needed to start 6-8 games with the right offensive coordinator.

Insight page
PositiveRole0:16

Flacco is placed as the headliner of the backup tier. He's a solid gunslinger who took the Browns to the playoffs and made things interesting for the Bengals, but his risky throws sometimes backfire.

Insight page
NegativeBust0:16

Turnover-prone with a history of games where risky throws pile up; had a playoff game against Houston where turnovers resulted in a loss.

Insight page

Jordan Love

PositiveProjection0:29

Placed in great tier but behind Dak and Caleb; at his best, might be the best quarterback in the great tier with elite performances in top games.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:30

Inconsistent performance; approximately 25% of the time awesome, 50% good, and 25% of the time unclear what's happening; more up and down than Dak Prescott.

Insight page
NegativeRole0:30

Gets weirdly inaccurate at times, goes quiet, timing can be off, and holds the football too long; not as up and down as Kyler Murray but still inconsistent.

Insight page
PositiveRole0:30

Natural arm talent and good enough athlete to create outside the pocket; had elite performances in playoff game and road win at Dallas.

Insight page

Josh Allen

PositiveProjection0:11

Allen is placed in the elite tier. The analyst, who had Allen as his first-ever number one overall player in 2018, believes he's one of the most creative quarterbacks in the league with exceptional athleticism, scrambling ability, and two-minute drill performance. Recent coaching changes and roster additions should help him succeed.

Insight page

Justin Fields

PositiveProjection0:47

Justin Fields is ranked ahead of Joe Flacco and Joe Burrow only because he's a special athlete, though both are better passing quarterbacks currently, and there's still time for him to have a career step forward like Sam Darnold or Daniel Jones.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:48

Justin Fields going to Kansas City could be interesting if he gets to play in Andy Reid's offense, which could help him take steps forward as a passer, the area he needs to develop most.

Insight page

Justin Herbert

PositiveProjection0:39

Justin Herbert is ranked at the top of the great tier and the analyst has always been bullish on him, with improved accuracy year-over-year and elite arm talent.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:39

The analyst wants Justin Herbert to be slightly more aggressive pushing the ball downfield, even if it results in more turnovers, as his arm talent is strong enough to bail him out and this could elevate him to the elite tier.

Insight page

Kirk Cousins

NegativeRole0:08

Cousins is placed in the move on/backup tier and will either be a backup to Fernando Mendoza or a bridge quarterback before the Raiders turn it over to their number one overall pick. At this point in his career, he's primarily a mentor figure.

Insight page

Kyler Murray

PositiveProjection0:02

Murray is placed in the OK tier due to high variance in his play—his best games rank among the elite in the league, but limitations from his height and athleticism create inconsistency. The analyst questions whether the Drew Petersen offense was a perfect fit and is curious if Kevin O'Connell can elevate his baseline performance with Minnesota.

Insight page

Lamar Jackson

PositiveProjection0:10

Jackson is placed in the elite tier. Even at 75-80% performance, his games are exceptional due to his athleticism, design run game, and off-script ability. The analyst believes he's become an underrated passer and has improved his accuracy and timing year over year.

Insight page

Mac Jones

PositiveProjection0:53

Mac Jones is a solid backup quarterback who proved himself well last year and repaired his stock by going to San Francisco under Shanahan.

Insight page

Malik Willis

PositiveProjection0:31

Intriguing flashes with athleticism and improved passing ability after time in Matt LaFleur's system; looks like a guy who could start and win games.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:31

Placed just behind Bryce Young in OK tier due to small sample size; could easily jump to good tier with a full season, but limited starts make it hard to project.

Insight page
PositiveRole0:31

Arm strength is as strong as it was at Liberty; athleticism is as prevalent as in college; now shows ability to read field, go through progressions, and know when to bail.

Insight page

Marcus Mariota

PositiveProjection0:47

Marcus Mariota is a fine backup quarterback who had some solid games for the Commanders last year but also had limitations including a pick-six and costly fumble.

Insight page

Michael Penix Jr.

PositiveInjury0:44

Michael Penix Jr. can't start the first four games due to suspension, and the analyst thinks the Falcons would view him as a one-year bandaid if he got injured, moving on afterward.

Insight page

Patrick Mahomes

PositiveProjection0:38

Patrick Mahomes is ranked in the elite tier ahead of Josh Allen, and the analyst would take him over everyone in a two-minute drill Super Bowl scenario due to his off-script ability combined with improved structure and accuracy.

Insight page

Sam Darnold

PositiveProjection0:51

Sam Darnold is placed in the 'good' tier just behind Jared Goff, with two years of solid quarterback play, though the analyst notes the first year included two big collapses at the end of the season in Minnesota.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:52

The analyst is surprised to rank Sam Darnold in the good tier ahead of Trevor Lawrence, noting this would have been unthinkable five years ago.

Insight page

Shedeur Sanders

PositiveProjection0:18

Talented quarterback placed in TBD tier due to limited sample size and poor supporting cast in 2024; was ranked QB2 pre-draft but fell to fifth round due to other concerns.

Insight page
PositiveRole0:18

Faced difficult circumstances in 2024 with weak receiver talent and offensive line issues that prevented establishing a run game, forcing him to face seven-man boxes.

Insight page

Trevor Lawrence

PositiveProjection0:36

Trevor Lawrence took a step forward in the second half of last year and the analyst is completely confident he'll be in the back half of the great tier next year with continued development under Liam Cohen.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:37

The analyst needs to see Trevor Lawrence maintain consistency for a full 16-17 games rather than alternating between good stretches and setbacks, as he's shown this pattern repeatedly.

Insight page

Tua Tagovailoa

PositiveProjection0:43

Tua Tagovailoa is placed in the top of the backup tier as a solid starter (not elite), but his arm limitations, size, and concussion history make the analyst uncertain about him as a long-term starter.

Insight page

Ty Simpson

PositiveProjection0:46

Ty Simpson is placed in the TBD tier alongside other developmental quarterbacks.

0:38From athletic to athletic-ish, Sierra's got it. Hello and welcome back to another episode of the Draft Capital Podcast.
0:43Hope and trust all has been well with you and yours, and I apologize for the long delay since our last episode.
0:48As you can tell, there is not much going on in this here room, and I'm not recording in front of the
0:54bookshelf I normally would record in front of because it's no longer in this room.
0:57We are knee-deep in this move. Basically, the last four weeks have been spent taking care of the floors of the first
1:03floor of our house that we bought, painting a bunch of rooms, and then this is the week of Friday.
1:07We're going to have movers come and help us get out of the apartment and into the home.
1:12So, I apologize for my absence. This is a little bit of a slow season for the NFL, but the NFL Draft also by extension.
1:18I might do a one-off video about Brendan Sorsby and kind of where that saga has kind of taken us.
1:23So, that might be coming on the horizon, but wanted to get you guys an episode of the podcast because it has
1:28been close to a month, and then also wanted to get something that was a little evergreen and kind of just live during this off-season period.
1:34Whoever comes to it can come and see it and come hang out, and maybe if this is the first time you've
1:40seen the Draft Capital Podcast, hopefully this will be the episode that gets you to stick around and subscribe and check out future draft content.
1:46Future NFL content, really, which to that point after this, we'll probably be doing a wide receiver core, you know, pass-catching core
1:51version of this, kind of the tier ranking. And then I have been watching 2027 prospects, like I'm pretty much done with
1:56quarterbacks, moving on to running backs and receivers. I've watched some of each, but going to get deeper down the list for both of those position groups.
2:03So, we'll do 2027 quarterback rankings here probably within the next month or so, and then running backs, receivers, tight ends, O-line, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.
2:10So, we'll be off and running in our summer scouting series.
2:12So, if that's exciting to you, this is a great place to find your NFL Draft content.
2:17But with all that said and done, let's go ahead and jump into what we're talking about today, and that is this tier ranking.
2:22We're going to be doing it for all quarterbacks in the NFL that could slash likely will start some games this year.
2:28And I moved it instead of like A through or S through F tier.
2:31I decided to give it a word, elite, great, good, okay, TBD, move on slash backup.
2:35Would love to see how you rank up all these quarterbacks.
2:38And I apologize, you can't see all their headshots here, but I'll make sure to mention their name and their current team
2:43as we go along, including Kyler Murray, who's going to lead things off.
2:46He's a former Arizona Cardinal, now Minnesota Viking, and he's going to lead things off in the OK tier.
2:51And one other thing I should say, I'm going to be putting these guys in the order I would put them within this tier.
2:57So, you are going to get my rankings by the end of this, like 1 through 32 on the best starters.
3:02And then this TBD tier is a little bit of a cop out by me, yes.
3:06But at the end of the video, I will put each player into the tier.
3:09I think that they will ultimately be in by year's end.
3:12All right, all that's been done. Kyler Murray kicks things off.
3:14Look, he's a guy that comes with a whole lot of variants.
3:17You know, like the best of Kyler Murray has been awesome, right?
3:207-0 start for the Cardinals back in, I believe, 2021.
3:23He was kind of the MVP frontrunner. And even his good games, you know, two years ago, not as much this past season.
3:28It kind of felt like more of a disappointing end to his time as a Cardinal.
3:32But when he's healthy and when he's had his best of games, like if you were to take the five best Kyler
3:38Murray games during his tenure with the Cardinals, I mean, it's among the five best games you'll see from just about any quarterback.
3:43Like, honestly, he'd probably be in the great tier if we were just taking his top five games.
3:47But that's kind of the downside, right? Like, there's a lot of limitations to his game because of his height, because of
3:53his athleticism and how he likes to play. I also don't know if the Drew Petsing offense was necessarily the perfect match for Kyler.
3:59I thought, you know, the beginning of Petsing's era there in Arizona, really creative run game.
4:02And Kyler fits some into that. As a passer, I don't know if it really totally fully gelled.
4:07And that's kind of why the Minnesota component of this is interesting.
4:10Because I kind of think KOC's looking at that as like, this guy has been up and down.
4:14I can get more out of his or we can find a way to get that baseline closer to the up, the
4:19good, then the down and the bad. You know, so I think KOC's looking at this guy with up in, you know,
4:25variance and saying, hey, I can hit the high side of that.
4:28Especially if nine doesn't take a step forward. We have seen him have some success with guys like Josh Dobbs who can
4:33run and create, you know, outside the pocket or with their legs in general.
4:36So I'm really curious to see. And Kyler Murray is a way better athlete than Josh Dobbs.
4:41So like they're not even comparing that one to one.
4:43But we have seen KOC be able to use a guy who can create with his legs, but not nearly to the athleticism levels that Kyler has.
4:50So I'm really interested to see what this looks like.
4:52Like, but KOC is also a guy who attacks the middle of the field kind of relentlessly.
4:56And like Justin Jefferson's the best intermediate route runner in the league, in my opinion.
5:00So what does that look like when, you know, Kyler couldn't get on the same page with Marvin Harrison Jr.
5:05And just wasn't that great attacking the intermediate, that 10 to 19 yard range.
5:08So I still have some question marks. The good for Kyler has been fantastic.
5:11It's been awesome. Again, like top five games of his career or some of the five best games you'll see.
5:16And then there are the rest. All right, let's get on to Jacoby Brissette.
5:20I'm going to put him in the move on backup tier.
5:22And look, I get it. Like they anointed Jacoby Brissette to basically be the starter back half of last year.
5:27Once they knew they were moving on from Kyler.
5:29So why is Kyler better? Well, because Kyler has a more inherent talent to work with than Jacoby Brissette.
5:34And we're also talking about a guy who is not over 30 versus a guy who is well above 30.
5:39So just a lot of different things. And just because that played out the way in Arizona doesn't mean I see the talent the same way.
5:45And also there's contract regions that played out the way it did.
5:48But Jacoby Brissette to me is like, he's always been like a rock solid backup, right?
5:52Like we got to see him start a couple of games for New England during the Tom Brady suspension.
5:56And he was okay. And to me, it was like, hey, Garoppolo is the guy out of these two that maybe could be a starter somewhere.
6:03Maybe not high end, but he could be a starter.
6:05And Jacoby Brissette is going to be a really solid backup.
6:08And honestly, he kind of exceeded my expectations. Not necessarily that, you know, his year starting in Indy was awesome.
6:13Or like his time in Arizona last year was like all world or whatever.
6:16But like he's a solid enough starter. Like if there are 32 starting quarterbacks and Jacoby Brissette is one of them, there
6:21are worse guys that have been QB 28, 29, 30 in the history of the NFL in a given year.
6:26So like Brissette's not terrible, but like he's also not going to win you the Super Bowl.
6:30So he's good backup. But then also if he's your starting quarterback, I think you're looking to turn the page, right?
6:35Like, you know, Arizona didn't necessarily totally work out.
6:38They take Carson back in the third round, whatever.
6:40But, you know, maybe if it's, you know, Brandon Sorsby doesn't sound like he's going to be in the supplemental draft.
6:45But like if that became an option, maybe they would explore that.
6:48But like Jacoby Brissette's the type of quarterback where you're like, Hey, what's the future you got in store for us?
6:53So like if it didn't work out round one, you kick the tires on a guy round three.
6:57Or you explore the supplemental draft options that may or may not be there.
7:01Which, by the way, might do a video on the Brandon Sorsby of it all right now because that whole saga continues.
7:06And I do have some thoughts, but, you know, a lot of people have said a lot of things about it.
7:11So let me know if you would want to hear my thoughts on this whole Sorsby situation with Texas Tech and the
7:16NCAA and so on and so forth. But Jacoby Brissette, good backup option.
7:20If he's a starting quarterback, I think you're looking to the future.
7:23All right. Maybe a controversial one. I'm going to go Michael Penick's TBD, specifically with the injury last year.
7:27Which I know there's some Falcons fans I've talked to who, like, that was the nail that, you know, that was the nail in the coffin.
7:33That was the straw that broke the camel's back.
7:36Like, okay, cool. This guy hasn't impressed us. And now he's got another injury and he had a ton of injuries in college.
7:41So, like, I'm ready to move on. I'm not fully there yet.
7:44I had Michael Penick as a top 20 prospect in that draft.
7:47I still love the arm talent. And I'm intrigued to see what the change in play calling might ultimately bring his way.
7:52But he is going to have to be able to.
7:55I mean, granted, he's only had one major, like, you know, injury so far in the NFL.
7:59And it was the one that ended his season last year.
8:02But, like, with his injury history, that is obviously something we want to keep an eye on.
8:06And something that definitely complicates his overall profile, we'll say, at the NFL level.
8:09But I'm still personally interested in the arm talent.
8:11And he's athletic enough to make things kind of happen off script, you know, or with his likes in general.
8:16So I'm still a little bullish on where it's going to go.
8:19But that being said, I'm not as bullish now as I was, say, after his rookie year.
8:23Or, you know, when we had those three games at the end of the season, it was like, okay, now we're going
8:28to get to see what Michael Penick is really all about.
8:31But he's also really good for Drake London. Drake London, I think, is really good for him.
8:35So now I just want to see how Kevin Stefanski manages on both.
8:38But, again, we'll do the TBD tier. We'll put all these guys into the specific tiers that I, right now, think they believe in.
8:44And ultimately where I think they will be by the years.
8:47And Kirk Cousins' backup move on. And, you know, I think what's happened in Vegas is kind of emblematic of this.
8:52Because he'll either be the backup for Fernando Mendoza or he'll be the bridge guy who then allows them to turn it
8:57over to their number one overall pick, Fernando Mendoza.
9:00So Kirk Cousins, at this point in his career, like, I don't think we have anything shocking here that I need to expand upon.
9:05But honestly, like, one of the smartest guys financially with how he's maximized the money he's made in his career.
9:10So good mentor from that standpoint for Fernando Mendoza.
9:12But I do think good scheme fit for Clint Kubiak.
9:15And a guy who's played a ton under center.
9:17Fernando Mendoza last year only had three snaps under center.
9:19So there is a clear mentor-mentee relationship that's going to be made there in Las Vegas.

10:05Lamar Jackson's next stop for the Baltimore Ravens. He's our first of our elite quarterbacks.
10:08We will have five elite quarterbacks by the end of this video.
10:11And then we'll have six quarterbacks in the great tier.
10:13So Lamar Jackson leads things off. I mean, I know sometimes the playoff games have not been great.
10:18Sometimes I think like he plays well, but the Ravens let him down.
10:21Sometimes it's the opposite. You know, especially early in his career where it felt like it was more Lamar.
10:26It feels like the last couple of years it's been more the Ravens letting him down.
10:29Last year they missed the playoffs entirely. Not necessarily to the fault of Lamar Jackson.
10:33He's also batted a lot of injuries. It feels like more injuries over the last two seasons.
10:37But like, look, Lamar Jackson, even at 80%, like not even like his best games, but like his 75th to 80th percentile
10:43games are just like put the jaw on the floor.
10:45Like this guy's unreal between the athleticism, the design run game, what he can do off script.
10:49He's also just become such a he was to me, I thought he was an underrated pastor coming out of Louisville.
10:54Not that he was all world, but I saw the rhetoric around him as a pastor as to being a little overblown.
11:00And even like comparing him to someone like an Anthony Richardson who came out years later, like to me, Lamar was a better, more progress, more polished passer.
11:06Further along in his overall quarterback progression than someone like AR was when he came out of Florida.
11:11And I think he's only gotten better, right? Like being able to play with timing, keeping his eyes downfield.
11:15And he was always like that at Louisville, but it's even more so now at the NFL level.
11:20I think the team accuracy has gotten better year over year.
11:22So Lamar Jackson, I mean, I'm a Steelers fan.
11:25Like I have every reason to not have Lamar Jackson in the elites here, but he is just one of the most
11:30fun players in the league for me to watch.
11:32And that, trust me, I don't take any joy in saying that, but he is absolutely one of the elite quarterbacks.
11:37As is our next man up here, Josh Allen, quarterback of the Buffalo Bills.
11:41For those who don't know, 2018 is when I started to cover the NFL draft.
11:44Nowhere near as like nuanced and as detailed as I do it now.
11:47I'm a college student. And that was my, you know, I was like, hey, you know, I watch enough of the NFL
11:53and I watch the draft every year. It's time for me to take this serious.
11:56And Josh Allen was my first ever number one overall player on a big board.
12:00So I'm obviously very biased towards Josh Allen. He's my favorite player in the league.
12:04But like all that said and done, and I say all that's just to caveat that.
12:07Like even with that bias noted, I don't see many people saying that Josh Allen's not an elite quarterback.
12:12And most people who are trying to make that argument are saying that, you know, he's a joker basically.
12:17And that he falls short in the biggest moments.
12:19And he'll never be able to get over the hump of, you know, Pat Mahomes and some of these other elite guys.
12:24I don't think that's the case. And I think that's part of the coaching, you know, the reason for the coaching change in Buffalo.
12:30You know, sometimes it's the quarterback that fails. You know, kind of like what we talked about with Lamar.
12:35Sometimes it's the team failing the quarterback. Sometimes it's the other way around.
12:38And sometimes it's just bad luck. And I think the Bills have been kind of hit with all of those.
12:43Maybe the first playoff run for Josh Allen. He wasn't, you know, it was like his third year.
12:47And like they weren't all that great. And he was still developing as a quarterback from a passing standpoint.
12:52Year three was a big jump forward, but like not to the levels where he's at now.
12:56So maybe early on you could say it was Josh.
12:58But I think the last few years, specifically that Sean McDermott defense.
13:01Something about once they got in the playoffs, man, that defense would start to erode away.
13:05And like specifically against the Chiefs, man. They just had all the answer for what McDermott was trying to do defensively.
13:10So I'm excited to see where this Jim Leonard defense goes ultimately.
13:13And what else they can do with that supporting cast.
13:15I love the idea of bringing in DJ Moore.
13:18They've really leaned into the run game. And there's now weeks where he doesn't feel like Josh Allen has to be Superman.
13:23Because he's got James Cook. He's got Ray Davis.
13:25He's got these guys who can make plays for him in the backfield.
13:28But when push comes to shove, it's two-minute drills.
13:30You know, like it's Josh Allen's offense. And I mean, this guy is just an alien between what he can do as a runner.
13:36Not only from like just being more athletic, but like he'll lower his shoulder into you.
13:40And like you normally don't want quarterbacks to do it.
13:43But like Josh Allen's been able to like battle through that.
13:45We've seen him get dinged up in games. But like he battles through it.
13:49So he's been able to, you know, when he needs to, lower his shoulder.
13:52Find the necessary yardage there. He's a really creative scrambler.
13:54Good at creating off script. Obviously, we've seen him and Mahomes are both like masters of that.
13:59Like pulling in that defender just enough to hit that window and create a 25 to 30-yard play.
14:03Or that yards after the catch opportunity for a receiver after he gets the defender to bite.
14:07So just one of the best quarterbacks. One of the most creative guys we have in the league.
14:11And honestly, one of the reasons to watch the NFL on Sundays in my books.
14:15All right. Let's get to Joe Burrow. I'm going to also have Joe Burrow in the elite tier.
14:19We're getting a nice little run here on elite guys.
14:22It'd probably be this. Burrow just ever so slightly ahead of Lamar.
14:25And Lamar's been battling injuries. But Burrow at this point, like we've had two pretty colossal like season-ending injuries.
14:29And I think he'll bounce back and be just fine next year.
14:32But it is something that now we kind of have to bake into the Joe Burrow equation.
14:36And ultimately, like he to me is like probably the best in the league when it comes to like playing with anticipation and timing.
14:42He has great touch also. Like definitely one of the best in the league when it comes to just like putting some feather on the football.
14:48And ultimately, I think his arm's gotten stronger at the NFL level.
14:51And I don't know if that was just natural.
14:54Because I mean, he was a little bit of an older prospect coming out of LSU.
14:57Because he transferred from Ohio State. Didn't have a clear pathway to the field.
15:01Transfers over to LSU. Plays there two years. So he was a little older coming out.
15:05But like maybe the body just matured. Or maybe it was, you know, going from student-athlete to full-time athlete.
15:09And the progression happened there. But I do feel like his arm went from like B- coming out to like it's firmly a B.
15:15Maybe even like teetering, you know, close enough to a B- plus if you squint.
15:19But I think the arm strength's gotten better. He's one of maybe the most accurate quarterback in the league from my mind.
15:24And maybe the best, in my mind, the best quarterback when it comes to throwing with anticipation and touch.
15:29So love so much what he brings to the table.
15:31He's also like, to me, really good at navigating tight quarters in the pocket, right?
15:35Like I think he, you know, works through that muddy water pretty well.
15:38He just holds on to the football too long.
15:40And he takes too many hits and too many sacks.
15:43So he kind of derails drives because of that.
15:45And also he's led to him getting hurt a couple times.
15:47But also that offensive line in Cincinnati is not necessarily doing him any favors.
15:51So a little bit of the team, a little bit of the quarterback.
15:54Same thing we talked about with Allen and Lamar.
15:56And that's kind of where it's interesting, right? So much of what the Bengals, the Ravens, and the Bills can even do
16:01is because they have these three elite quarterbacks. But then we get into the postseason and it's like, who failed who?
16:07And we diagnose every little nuanced detail into how Burrow was the reason the Bengals failed.
16:10No, no, it was this reason why the Bengals failed Burrow.
16:13So it's just kind of funny when you get that deep.
16:16But it's only because they're that good. Like if Joe Burrow wasn't a elite quarterback, we'd probably care less.
16:20And frankly, we'd probably be saying they need to move on.
16:23Anyway, it's just funny how we talk about football sometimes.
16:25Joe Flacco. I'm going to put Flacco in the backup tier, but I'm going to have him be the headliner for the backup tier.
16:31You know, took the Browns to the playoffs a year ago.
16:34Made it kind of interesting last year. Or sorry, made it to the playoffs two years ago now, three years ago now for the Browns.
16:40You know, made it interesting a year ago for the Bengals.
16:43He's a solid gunslinger. He takes chances. And sometimes those risky throws come back to bite.
16:47And sometimes he gets away with them. And that was kind of the case with Cleveland, right?
16:51He had some games where I think he had one game from PFF with five turnover-worthy plays that resulted in like one interception or something like that.
16:57Sometimes the guy gets lucky. But look, his arm still plays.
17:00And his mind and his brain still plays at the NFL level.
17:03So he's always been a statue quarterback. Definitely more so now than ever.
17:06But, you know, he's a gutsy, strong-armed quarterback who understands the game at a high level.
17:10So in a lot of ways, he's got the veteran savvy that you want when working with a young quarterback.
17:15But also like that veteran savvy, the fact his arm is still as good as it is, makes it to where like,
17:20hey, if you need this guy to start six to eight games, like you could go 500, right?
17:24And it takes the right off its mind, right?
17:27Like look at who's engineered some of these moments for him.
17:29I don't think Zach Taylor's all that world, all that great of an offensive mind, like wouldn't put him anywhere near the
17:35top of the world of OC or play callers.
17:37But like Jamar Chase T. Higgins makes something happen, Chase Brown, you know?
17:40Or when he's working with Kevin Stefanski, he got a second job real quick for a reason.
17:44Good offensive mind. And, you know, Flacco could work with that.
17:47So I don't know. It's just interesting when you get him with just a good enough offensive mind and play caller.
17:52Like he's good enough to make things happen, even as he's eclipsed age 40 now.
17:55So you kind of know what you're getting, you know, like the range of outcomes for Flacco are, you know, pretty much here.
18:01I mean, there's probably a little bit of a fall off because the turnover games, right?
18:05Like the playoff game against Houston where the turnovers just pile up.
18:08It's like, okay, well, you know, there's the downside of do Flacco.
18:11Sometimes this stuff happens. But then like there's, there's, he can reach levels of being pretty solid and adequate to win some games.
18:16I don't think you're going to win a Super Bowl with him now, but he can keep the ship afloat.
18:21So definitely one of the best backups, the best backup we've talked about thus far.
18:25All right. Shadur Sanders. I'm going to put Shadur Sanders in the TBD tier just behind Michael Panix.
18:29This one's tough because we've only got one year of Shadur with a little bit more than that of Michael Panix.
18:34Panix gets hurt. Shadur didn't even play the full year.
18:37You know, it's just tough. So much of what I thought about Shadur was kind of affirmed last year in watching him play for the Browns.
18:43But he also had it, you know, kind of tough.
18:45By the end of the season, like the Browns receiver talent was not great, to say the least.
18:50It was in the offensive line and taking a major step back because of that.
18:53They couldn't really establish a run game. So it was kind of like Shadur facing seven man boxes and then like kind of doing whatever he could.
19:00Like occasional Isaiah Bond big play, you know, like, but it was few and far between.
19:04But the supporting cast was also really rough for him last year.
19:07So I had him as the number two quarterback going into that draft.
19:10I thought, you know, late first round pick was warranted early second for sure.
19:13He goes to the fifth round. So, like, obviously, there's other things that kind of clouded that picture for him as a draft prospect.
19:19But I still think there's some talent there. It's just going to come down to, like, how much did that supporting cast
19:24get better and how much was it improved this year in Cleveland?
19:27Dylan Gabriel, all the same things. But, you know, he had a few more, you know, earlier opportunities.
19:32Not a few more, but he had earlier opportunities.
19:34He was the QB2. He was the guy that Browns turned to first.
19:37It kind of was as expected. He looks like a backup quarterback.
19:40So, again, we'll do the TBD tier and we'll move these guys where I think they belong, where I think we'll how
19:45I'll see them by the end of the season.
19:47So it's a little bit of a projection with that tier.
19:50But Dylan Gabriel, like, he's my QB10 coming out of that draft.
19:53I saw him as a solid backup quarterback option.
19:55And to me, that's all I saw last year.
19:57So, like, I don't know. Then we get to Bryce Young.
20:00I'm going to put Bryce Young in the OK tier.
20:02Bryce is another tough one where, like, the first year and then you get in a year or two and it's like the first four games.
20:09And it's like, OK, man, this guy is broken.
20:11And then he gets the chance to reset, sit for a couple of weeks and he don't get to a car accident.
20:16And then it's like, OK, hey, Bryce Young is like learning how to play some football again.
20:20Like, he's kind of reset a little bit. And even so much so that, like, he had some moments towards the end of the season.
20:26Like, they probably should have beaten that Eagles team.
20:29If not for Xavier Legette drop at the goal.
20:31Like, if he kept that football, he's in the end zone as a touchdown.
20:34And the Panthers scored a huge upset win at home against the Eagles on the way to the Eagles winning the Super Bowl.
20:40Right? You know, so there's some moments. And even last year, right?
20:43Like, there's some games where he throws for 450 yards.
20:45And then there's other games where he plays well.
20:47But, like, the stat line is like 147 and a touchdown.
20:50Like, that's it. But I think at this point we've settled into, like, Bryce Young's firmly OK.
20:54So, obviously, he goes in the OK tier. I'm really curious to see, like, can we get beyond that?
20:59I don't think. The problem is also, like, the bad Bryce Young moments.
21:02I don't even think he has necessarily bad games to this point.
21:05Like, I can't think of a game last year where he was bad all four quarters.
21:09Bad for 60 minutes. It's just his bad plays.
21:11He looks like a high schooler that's going against NFL players.
21:14And he's getting thrown to the ground and he fumbles.
21:16Or he's small and can't see over the middle field.
21:18So, he just throws an absolute Stevie to a linebacker.
21:21And you're like, oh, OK. Yikes. So, like, his bad plays look like a high schooler.
21:25And his good plays don't look like Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen.
21:27They're just like, wow. That was, what a 15 and out.
21:30Like, the timing on that and the accuracy. OK.
21:32It's kind of like Tua a couple years ago.
21:34And I know it's another Bama quarterback. But, like, when Tua does something bad, you're like, oh, God.
21:39And then when he does something good, you're like, well, OK.
21:41But it's not like, oh, my God. What did I just witness?
21:44So, like, I'm just kind of curious. Like, the balance this year for Bryce Young.
21:48Last year, I thought it was, like, 60-40. Like, OK.
21:50That's pretty good. To, like, the bad moments. But, like, specifically at the beginning of games, felt like he had a lot of bad first quarters.
21:57And I might just be remembering certain games more than others.
21:59But I'm curious to see how much, where it was 60-40.
22:02Like, OK. Some good Bryce Young with some bad Bryce Young.
22:05Can we get it to 75-25, 70-30 this year?
22:07I'm just curious to see, like, what Dave Canales does with another year of Bryce Young.
22:11Another offseason. They add a few more weapons to the mix.
22:13Crisp razzle. You know, so I just want to see where it goes from here.
22:17Year two of Ted McMillan to just, like, his natural progression.
22:20Hopefully, Jalen Coker healthy all year round. Like, what does that do for him?
22:23And can we get more consistency out of Bryce Young?
22:26And could he maybe elevate himself into the good tier?
22:28I don't rule that out. He'd probably be in the back end of the good tier.
22:32But I think that jump is certainly possible for Bryce Young.
22:35But love the accuracy. I love his pocket mobility.
22:37Like, honestly, like, especially considering his size, it makes a lot of sense.
22:40But, like, if you were to just ask me, like, who's the best in the league at certain things?
22:44Like, Bryce Young would probably be top 5-10 in regards to, like, pocket mobility.
22:48And that's not, like, his athleticism, but it's just, like, how he navigates that space.
22:51Like, it gets claustrophobic quick. And I think Bryce Young, dating back to Bama, has just always had a sick feel for pressure in the pocket.
22:58And he just knows when to step back, knows when to step up, drift left, drift right.
23:02Like, he's just got a really innate feel for that.
23:04So I would definitely put him towards the top of the ranks in that.
23:08And then hopefully this year we could see him take another step forward and we can move him up into the good tier.
23:13All right. Then we get to Caleb Williams. And, I mean, this is another tough one because I'm not going to put him in the TBD tier.
23:20Frankly, I'm going to put him in the great tier.
23:22I'm going to put him in the great tier.
23:24And I know it's still a work in progress.
23:27Like, the completion percentage still isn't super sexy and the adjusted completion percentage isn't all that much better.
23:31But, like, you saw the moments he's capable of making, right?
23:34Like, both times, you know, the three times, I guess, they played the Packers.
23:37He, like, makes something unreal happen, right? Like, a couple of those finishes down the stretch last year.
23:41He just has arm talent and athleticism skills that make things that we kind of haven't seen before.
23:46I don't want to call them impossible, but, like, things that we haven't seen before happen.
23:50And you're like, oh, oh my God. And that was the other thing, too.
23:53Like, down the stretch, big moments, the kid took a huge step forward in those big opportunities.
23:57So, maybe it's a little bit of a projection putting him in the great.
24:01Maybe he should be good for right now. But, like, frankly, I think the second half of last year showed me enough of where this kid's heading.
24:07And he looks like the number one overall pick for good reason, right?
24:10Like, I think he's absolutely one of the best quarterbacks in the NFC.
24:13And it's going to be really interesting to continue to talk about that 2024 quarterback class.
24:17Even just Jane Daniels and Caleb Williams in this tier, right?
24:20Like, which one goes first? Like, I'm really excited to have that argument with everyone.
24:24Let me get to Dak Prescott. I am also going to put Dak Prescott in the great tier.
24:28I'm a fan of Dak Prescott. I might ruffle some feathers here, especially considering we're talking about a Cowboys quarterback here.
24:33I'm almost certainly going to ruffle some feathers. I'm going to keep Caleb ahead of Dak.
24:37If you were to tell me who's going to give me more down-to-down consistency over 800 snaps, whatever, it's probably Dak.
24:42But in the absence of that consistency I get from Dak, I think the high moments, the high watermark for Caleb Williams
24:47is just enough for me to say, I'm going to go ever so slightly Caleb Williams.
24:51But I totally wouldn't be upset if you had Dak ahead of Caleb.
24:54Totally understand it. And part of me is also like projecting forward another year.
24:58What does Caleb Williams look like with another year working with Ben Johnson in a second offseason, third year in general in
25:03the league, where the game really starts to feel like he's acclimated to that speed.
25:07So it's a little bit of rejection for Caleb Williams, but I love Dak Prescott.
25:10And I mean, he's lost some mobility and athleticism since that crazy leg injury.
25:14But he's still as accurate as anybody in the league.
25:16He plays with great timing. Him and Joe Burrow, in a lot of ways, mirror each other so much with their ability
25:22to win with accuracy, timing, anticipation, willing to make crazy throws.
25:24Also, another guy who, I don't think Dak has an 8-plus arm, but he makes it work.
25:28Ultimately, to me, though, I just think Burrow is elite at those things.
25:32I think Dak's just really great. Great versus elite in those departments.
25:34That's kind of part of the separation there. You're also talking about someone who's slightly younger in Burrow.
25:39So taking that some into account. But the injury concerns there for Burrow, I understand.
25:42Maybe you do. I could see an argument where, even if you're not a Cowboys fan, you prefer Dak just because he's
25:48played more over the last couple of years. But always been a big fan of Dak Prescott.
25:52One of my best friends is a huge Dak hater.
25:54Every Sunday, I'm not even a Cowboys fan, but Dak Prescott tends to be the number one conversation point on most NFL
26:00Sundays when I'm around that best friend of mine.
26:02But love the accuracy. Love the leadership, too. And he's athletic enough to still make some stuff happen, but it's definitely waned since that injury.
26:08But timing, anticipation, leadership, accuracy, that's all the great stuff that Dak brings to the table.
26:12All right, then we get to Bo Nix. I'm going to put Bo Nix.
26:15Weirdly enough, he is going to be our first of the good quarterback tier.
26:19And look, I know there's a lot of Broncos fans that look at the win-loss and the touchdown-interception ratio and say, look,
26:24his numbers are better than Drake May and Caleb Williams and Jaden Daniels.
26:27I hear you. And the numbers are definitely great.
26:29And having Sean Payton will make some of that happen.
26:32But when I watch these guys, I don't see quite the special that I see with the other quarterbacks that are going
26:37to go in the great tier from that 2024 quarterback class.
26:40But that being said, the floor is certainly much more stable.
26:42I'm feeling great about his foundation compared to the likes of like Michael Penix.
26:46Where do we go from here? JJ McCarthy, Spencer Rattler, when will he start again?
26:49And who for who, you know? So, I mean, it's kind of like the paradigm I had for like Bo Nix when he came out.
26:55He's my quarterback five that year. I like the floor.
26:58I think Sean Payton's a perfect fit. Like so many of my mock drafts, not just me, a lot of people had
27:03Bo Nix going to the Broncos because it made all the sense of the world for him as a fit for Sean Payton.
27:09But at the same time, I also don't think there's like something special elite in there.
27:13So I'm going to put him firmly in the good tier.
27:15Like I think him and Sean Payton, as long as that marriage goes on, they're going to be a really solid football
27:21team and he's going to be a solid quarterback who puts up pretty good numbers.
27:24But I just, I don't see him being the guy that like takes games over, leads to charge, usurfs, Caleb, Drake, Josh,
27:30Lamar, Joe, but like he goes into Arrowhead in the AFC championship game and Bo Nix is the reason why the Broncos won.
27:35That feels like if they do that, it's all the defense come up with a couple of big plays.
27:40The running backs, you know, Harvey broke off a big play and Bo Nix didn't lose the game.
27:44He actually had a couple of plays where he went above and beyond.
27:47So kind of similar to another quarterback who's going to be right here in the good tier that is probably going to get me a ton of flack.
27:54So we'll get there when we get there. No one goes to Hank's for his spreadsheets.
27:58They go for a darn good pizza. Lately though, the shop's been quiet.
28:01So Hank decides to bring back the $1 slice.
28:03He asks Copilot in Microsoft Excel to look at his sales and costs to help him see if he can afford it.
28:09Copilot shows Hank where the money's going and which little extras make the dollar slice work.
28:13Now Hank's has a line out the door. Hank makes the pizza.
28:15Copilot handles the spreadsheets. Learn more at m365copilot.com slash work.
28:18You have one new message. Translating. Disney and Pixar's Hoppers is now available on Disney+.
28:22You could say that again. Critics are calling it Pixar's funniest movie ever and a wildly entertaining ride.
28:26Blizzard Potato. It's certified fresh and verified hot. Now we party.
28:29I am clear in the rest of the day.
28:31Disney and Pixar's Hoppers. Now available on Disney+. Rated PG.
28:33Let me get to Jared Goff. I'm going to put Jared Goff just behind Bo Nix.
28:37This one easily could go either way. I'm just, again, I'm kind of projecting forward another year.
28:41I'll go Bo Nix just ever so slightly over Goff.
28:44He's also a better athlete. So I do think there's a little bit more of the off script stuff that Bo Nix
28:49brings to the table than Jared Goff. But hey, Goff is a solid, capable quarterback.
28:53Like a point-and-shoot type of guy through and through.
28:55If you've got a good offensive coordinator and he's been fortunate to play with a couple of really good ones and you've
29:00got good weapons and he's been fortunate to play with some really great weapons, I think he's good enough to win you some games.
29:06So firmly a good quarterback. When it's 4th and 4th and you're at San Francisco in the NFC Championship game, I could see him missing a hitch throw.
29:13I could just see that. Maybe I've seen it before.
29:15So that's always been kind of my hesitation. I think he's a good quarterback, but as much as I want to see
29:20the Lions win a Super Bowl just because that would be an ultimate, awesome underdog story.
29:24And if it can't be the Steelers, the Lions would be a fun story.
29:28I just, I don't know if Goff's the guy.
29:30I don't know if he's the guy to get him there, but there's a lot of little things right.
29:35Not super mobile, but you know what? I will say the biggest thing has changed since he's become a Lion, his response to pressure.
29:40He is a much more poised quarterback in the face of pressure.
29:43So as much as I may be a little trepidatious about Jared Goff, I got to give him flowers there.
29:48All right, let's get to Jordan Love. I'm going to put him in the great tier, but I'm going to put him behind those other two guys.
29:55And this Love is tough because I don't know how much of this is him versus a side effect of basically the
30:00way that Matt LaFleur and that offense operates in Green Bay.
30:03But he's just a little up and down more so than like Dak Prescott and some of the other guys in the great tier.
30:08And look, I know Caleb Williams also had some ups and downs.
30:11He could be up and down within the same game.
30:14But we're talking about a second year guy versus a guy who's pretty firmly, you know, a veteran at this point.
30:19But man, the best of, you know, Jordan Love, like Toyota-thon Jordan Love, he might be the best quarterback here in the great tier.
30:25Like I might've moved him up there. But there's also games where he gets kind of weirdly inaccurate.
30:29He'll go a little quiet. The timing can be a little off.
30:32He'll sit and hold the football for a little too long.
30:35So overall, I don't think he's like as up and down as someone like Kyler Murray.
30:39But like, you know, like I would say like 25% of the time, he's awesome.
30:4250% of the time, he's good. And then there's that other 25% of the time where you're trying to figure out like what's up.
30:48Dude, like I had him as a, I had a first round grade on him coming out of Utah State.
30:53Like I'm as big a Jordan Love guy as there's been.
30:56So I love the natural arm talent and a good enough athlete to do just enough, create just a little bit outside
31:01the pocket, but like not enough that's going to like change the way you look at them.
31:05So that's also part of the differentiation between great and elite and, you know, Caleb to him coming from that same division.
31:10But man, his best games, another one of these guys were like, his top five games are like as good as you
31:16get, you know, even the playoff game and the win at Dallas on the road.
31:19You're like that, that game, he was nails. So, you know, definitely some great moments.
31:23I just want to see a little bit more consistency for Love to usurp Dak and then Caleb.
31:27Then let me get to Malik Willis. And this one's like a little tough because I mean, we've only gotten a handful
31:33of starts to this point for Malik Willis. So man, I kind of went back and forth on where I should put him here.
31:38As I look at it, I'll put him just behind Bryce Young.
31:41I mean, the flashes are definitely interesting for Malik Willis, no doubt about it.
31:45Like when we've gotten to see him, the athleticism, he looks like a way more polished passer after getting into, you know,
31:50Matt LaFleur University there in Green Bay. He looks like a guy who could actually start and win some games for you.
31:55But that being said, it's such a small sample size.
31:58I don't want to have him usurp Bryce Young because we've gotten to see a lot more Bryce Young.
32:02And yes, there's been a lot lower lows than what we've seen from Malik Willis, but who knows, like over a 16
32:08game sample, maybe we would have seen the same lows from Malik Willis.
32:11But I'm really intrigued. The arm is, it looks as strong as it did at Liberty.
32:15The athleticism is certainly as prevalent as it was when he was in college.
32:18And now it just looks like he can actually read a field, read the defense, go one to two to three, one
32:24to, I'm going to bail and run with my legs.
32:26I just now got to see it for a full season.
32:29He could easily be a guy who takes the jump up from good or okay to the good tier.
32:33Absolutely. But it's just the sample size right now and then he gets hurt.
32:37You know, it's just hard to make that leap right now with him.
32:40All right, let's get to CJ Stroud. But oof, this one is going to be a tough one.
32:44And this definitely feels like one that could, you could convince me on a few different tiers, but I'm going to, I'm
32:49going to put him in the good tier. Sorry, I did not mean to put him in gray.
32:54I'm going to put him in the good tier.
32:56I think CJ Stroud is still a good quarterback.
32:58I think it's still in there, but like if this was a year ago, there's no shot.
33:02He's behind Jared Goff. Sorry. Like there's no world where I have him behind golf, just the natural arm talent.
33:07And like what we have been able to see with him and his athleticism at the next level was a lot more
33:13of what we saw in that, you know, Georgia, Ohio state game than everything else before that.
33:17But, you know, the end of last season, his response to pressure, the turnover and the fumbles really started to really pile on there down the stretch.
33:23And it almost looked like a guy who had the yips, you know, and it almost looked like a guy who were
33:29like, if this was baseball, you would need to, you know, like let's go get the lefty or let's go, let's bring in the reliever.
33:35Anybody, we just need someone else on the mound.
33:37There were some games where it's like, man, do they do that here?
33:40Like, I don't know, man. This was just not the CJ Stroud that we saw rookie year, you know, even year two
33:45where like the stats took a step back. I thought he was just carrying more of a lesser situation, if that makes sense.
33:51But the guy was still in there. And then last year happens and it's like, what?
33:55So I don't envy the Texans and where they are right now.
33:58I haven't tried to decide what to do with him, but he gets tank tail back second year in the Nick, Nick
34:03Haley's scheme and some additions to that offensive line.
34:05I'm bullish. I think he'll bounce back. I'm not too concerned about CJ Stroud, but the last taste in our mouth is a really rough one.
34:11So it is a little tough to kind of, to say that with confidence.
34:15All right. Next up is Daniel Jones. And I think Daniel Jones is a perfectly adequate quarterback.
34:19I'm going to put him in the okay tier.
34:21He obviously gets hurt last year, but up until that point, it was the best year of his career, my money.
34:26So accuracy, pushing the ball down the field. I thought his deep ball accuracy was as good as I've seen it a year ago.
34:32Huge credit to Shane Steichen, huge credit to guys like Alec Pierce, making that possible.
34:36Um, and I also thought his legs was a big part.
34:38And I thought Shane Steichen did a really good job tapping into him as a runner.
34:42And it certainly helps having, you know, a threat in the backfield.
34:45That is Jonathan Taylor. So I thought last year was the best year we'd seen to Daniel Jones.
34:50He looked like a guy who deserved a contract extension.
34:52Then he gets hurt. I mean, tears his Achilles.
34:54So TBD on where he goes from here, but I'm gonna put him at the top of the okay tier because on
34:59one part, he's coming off a pretty big entry, but the other part, he's coming off his best half a season we've seen from him yet.
35:06So, you know, kind of a tough one to grade out there.
35:09All right. Then we get to, uh, Anthony Richardson.
35:11And this is, I'm going to break my rule a little bit.
35:14He probably should go in the TBD tier, but, uh, I'm going to go in the move on tier.
35:18I mean, he, I mean that 70 yard week one touchdown pass.
35:21He had when he was the starter to begin the year for the Colts.
35:25I think that was what? 20, 25, 26. No, no.
35:2724, 25. I mean, that throw is like, Oh my God, from his back foot, 70 yards in the air.
35:32What are we doing here? But then the rest of his profile is kind of like, bah, you know, about a lot
35:37of injuries still inconsistent when it comes to reading out the field.
35:40The accuracy is still a huge work in progress, strong arm, crazy athlete.
35:43All that is definitely still true, but the areas he had to grow in, he needed to be on the field to do that.
35:49And he has just not been able to be on the field.
35:52So he definitely could go in the TBD tier.
35:54And I probably should put them in there. Cause we're still early on.
35:57And the team was going to take a shot on him and he's going to go, he's a little, he'll leave Indianapolis
36:03this off season more than, more than likely. And get a chance to try to be developed somewhere.
36:07Maybe, maybe she can hold down just in case Dan Jones re aggravates that injury.
36:11Who knows? But to me, I'm a lot less, I'm a lot less certain that he hits the upside that a lot of people saw.
36:17And including myself, a top 10 player on my board that year, you know, I was really intrigued by what Anthony Richardson could look like.
36:23Could it be Cam Newton too, I know I'm a lot less bullish on that happening now that I ever really happened.
36:28All right. Then we get to Trevor Lawrence. I'm going to put Trevor Lawrence in the good tier.
36:33And he lost tough, man. Like he had some awesome games on the stretch statistically, but a lot of that, like when
36:38you watch him play the jets, it's like, no, it's the jets.
36:41And it's like, Oh, it's a screen to ETN or HN.
36:43Sorry that he takes the house. It's like, Oh, okay.
36:46A lot of this is like bad defense plus like good scheme and like good players around them kind of all coming
36:51together to create an insane stat line. But to me, Trevor Lawrence did take a step forward the second half of last year.
36:57But every time I do that with Trevor Lawrence, where I see like six to eight games and I'm like, all right, he turned the corner.
37:03He's ready to go to that great tier. There's a little bit of a setback.
37:07So like, this is the year I need to see.
37:09I need to see him take that step from good to great.
37:12I need to see it consistently. Cause even the beginning of last year and you give them the bot, you give them a little bit of a pass.
37:19Cause you're like, Oh, it's the first year with Liam Cohen, but the beginning of last year, it got off to, you know, there's some good, some bad.
37:26And then second half of the season was pretty great, you know?
37:29But now I just, I just want to see it for 16 games, 17 games, you know, and not that all 17
37:34are going to be good to great, but like, I want to just see the progression continue.
37:38Cause even in bad games, you can still see where quarterback has taken strides in their career.
37:42So I just want to see a little bit more consistency, you know?
37:45And frankly, I'm completely confident. Like I wouldn't doubt that Trevor Lawrence is in the back half of the great tier, you
37:51know, next year because Hey, him and Liam Cohen, second year working together, they really ironed it out.
37:55They figured out what to do with BTJ, Parker, Washington, still awesome.
37:58Jacoby Myers, great addition to the debt. You know, all of it comes together and, and Brenton strange days healthy, you know,
38:03I can see where all of this comes together.
38:05We see that consistent step forward from Trevor Lawrence, as opposed to like, Oh, six games.
38:09He looked pretty good. Oh, okay. There's that step back.
38:12Oh, another good six games. Then there it is again.
38:14So just want to see it kind of fully come to fruition there for T law, Patrick, my homes.
38:19He's going to the elite tier and I'm going to have him ahead of Josh Allen.
38:23Again, Josh Allen's my favorite player in the league.
38:25So I don't want to be biased here and put Josh ahead, but like at the end of the day, if you
38:30told me, Hey TJ, your team's driving with two minutes to win the super bowl, who's your quarterback.
38:35As much as I love Josh, Joe Lamar, all these guys, I'd still take that.
38:38I'd still take Pat at the end of the day is building to create off script, but he's also gotten so much
38:43better over the course of the last like five years, being able to play within structure, get the ball out of his hands quickly.
38:49Let guys be threats after the catch. He's accurate at all three levels of the field, huge arm, great eyes, the no
38:55look stuff, the ability to throw from all arm angles.
38:57I mean, if you've watched football since 2017, you know about Patrick Mahomes.
39:00So I don't need to go on and on about that, but I, and honestly, I think two minute drill super bowl, you only get one guy.
39:07I think I'm taking Pat over everyone. So I got to have him in a number one spot.
39:11Justin Herbert. I'm going to put it in the top of the great tier, a single MVP vote receiver, Justin Herbert, shout
39:16out to Sam Monson from check the mic podcast.
39:19I've always been a Justin Herbert guy. You know, there was a couple of years where I had him as the top five quarterback in the league.
39:25And now I think like firmly, I'd probably swap.
39:27He's at six and someone else is at five, just because I think they took the next necessary step forward in their new scenery.
39:33We'll talk about him in just a moment, but Justin Herbert's awesome.
39:36Love the natural arm talent, really athletic guy too, considering his size.
39:39And we've seen him tap into that more this last year and a half.
39:42Um, and the accuracy has gotten better year over year too.
39:45And now it's just like, what more meat is on the bone, right?
39:48Like from a leadership standpoint, but also like trying to get him to take more shots.
39:52He has been this guy who always has this good touchdown interception ratio.
39:55And even if this get, that gets diminished a little bit, can we just get him to be a little bit more aggressive?
40:01Is that the Brennan Thompson effect? Is that Mike McDaniel?
40:03Whoever it is, like if we could get him just, and it's almost like a slider, right?
40:07Like, or a multiplier, right? Like you get like two X multiplier when you play video games.
40:12It's almost like we want to take that two X.
40:14I just want to dial it up to like 2.5%.
40:16Like, I just want him to be slightly more aggressive, push the ball out on the field.
40:20Even if it does result in more turnovers, his arm is big enough to where that's basically just an arm punt.
40:26Just be a little bit more aggressive. You've got all the makings of someone who could like be in the elite tier.
40:31And frankly, like when you go for it, your arm talent, like natural velocity, it's going to bail you out from like
40:36an iffy decision more often than not. So just want to fine tune that aggressive meter just a little bit.
40:41And I think he could move himself in the elite tier.
40:44And he'd probably be right next to you, maybe even replacing this guy, Matt Stafford.
40:47So for a while there, I had Stafford as my QB six.
40:50And then Herbert is my QB five. This was like three and four years ago, but the last few seasons, like firmly, like Stafford's man's awesome.
40:57Like, especially as I get older and like, you know, like I start to get older and like, I know I'm not
41:02a good athlete and I'm obviously not an NFL, you know, caliber athlete in and of itself, but like, what would I
41:07look like if I played in the backyard? Kind of looking Matt Stafford, right?
41:11Like that, that's the backyard football player I would like to be.
41:14And that part of me just kind of like, I love watching Matt Stafford play because of that, you know, wish fulfillment.
41:19But I mean, what he has, I mean, he was awesome in Detroit and I always had a, you know, soft spot in my heart for Matt Stafford.
41:26Loved him. You know, I made a bet his rookie year with a buddy of mine about the Lions winning X number
41:31of games, you know, just cause I was that bullish on him coming out of, was it 2008 draft?
41:36Maybe it was 2009, but I think it was 2008 coming out of Georgia.
41:39I just love Matt Stafford. And I always did in Detroit, but then like the Rams and Sean McVay, that was the next step forward.
41:45And the last two years, he has been really the last three years, I guess you could say two years ago was
41:50a little bit of a step back between, you know, three years ago.
41:54And then last year when he wins MVP, but like that three year sample size, like he has made so many unbelievable throws from like various arm angles.
42:00No look. The arm is absolutely still live. He's not super mobile, but he navigates the pocket well enough.
42:05And he's got that balance of like he, his, his aggression meter is pretty properly tuned.
42:09He knows when he has to take chances. He knows when he can play it safe.
42:13He knows when he's got to take, you know, deep shots to Puka and he knows when he can just play within
42:18the offense, get the ball out quick. Like guys create after the catch.
42:21Like he's just got that right balance. And some of that Sean McVay, some of it's him and just how long he's playing the league.
42:27But Matt Stafford, the last three years, like ever since he got to LA, man, it's just been like an absolute joy to watch the guy.
42:34I've always liked take that step forward from great to elite.
42:36So mad credit there to Matt Stafford. All right.
42:38We get the Geno Smith. I'm going to put him in the top of the backup move on to here.
42:43He is going to be starting this year for the jets.
42:46So like, he's not technically a backup, but I think at this point, like the Raiders move on for a reason.
42:51Right. And they could have kept him as a bridge guy for Mendoza, but we've just kind of hit that point where
42:56like, he's going to start for the jets this year and maybe he has a bounce back.
43:01And maybe he moved himself back into the okay tier.
43:03But like, if he's your starter, you're, you're looking ahead to the future also.
43:06And like, I think the jets are exactly that, right?
43:09Like Geno is going to start this year and then 2027, they're drafting a guy like no second thought about it.
43:14And if Geno plays well this year, maybe he earns himself, you know, the first half of the 2027, 28 season.
43:19That's kind of what he's looking at right now.
43:21So even right now where he's, he's kind of in the one place where he'd be solidified as a starter, but even
43:26then, like, you know, the team's turning the page on him as soon as they can.
43:30So like, I'm going to put him in the move on tier more than like the backup tier, if that makes sense to attack a by Loa.
43:37Um, when I did this initially, I had him in the TBD tier.
43:40I don't necessarily know why I'm going to put him in the backup tier.
43:43Um, do I want to put him in the top of the backup tier?
43:47I'll put him in the top of the backup tier.
43:49Cause we've seen him be a good starter. Like he has been a solid starter, not elite, but solid.
43:54And then at this point, he's still in his like mid twenties.
43:57Like he's not super old and washed, you know, he's not like one more year, Geno Smith, but with his arm limitations
44:02and his size and the concussions haven't been there as much the last couple of years, but like, that's still a part
44:07of his like profile and his history. You know, it's kind of like, I don't know if I love having this guy be my longterm starter.
44:14So like the Falcons this year, Michael panics can't start the first four games of the year.
44:18I think you're fine starting to, uh, I don't think you necessarily love it.
44:21And frankly, if like panics had another injury and I sat back and he was out the entire year, I feel like
44:27the Falcons would be like, all right, two is a one year backup or one year bandaid.
44:31And then like, we're moving on. We're just going to let the panics thing be a L and like two, it's just going to get through the season.
44:38And then we're going to graft a guy. And if you're at that point, you go on the move on tier, DJ
44:43McCarthy, he will go in the TBD tier. Um, we'll come back to him a little bit later on Drake may, I'm
44:48going to put just behind Justin Herbert at the top of the great tier.
44:52And look, I get it. Like Caleb Williams was my number one quarterback coming out of that class.
44:56Drake may was number two overall player. And at this point, you know, like it's, it's kind of a toss up because
45:01I think Caleb Williams still has the higher ceiling and he's, he's ascending, you know, with the way he ended last season,
45:07but Drake may was the MVP runner up last year.
45:09So like right now, I think Drake may slightly better quarterback where we are in two years from now, maybe Caleb usurps him.
45:15Um, but dude, Drake may specifically leaps. He took last year.
45:17I always thought the accuracy stuff coming out of UNC and the footwork.
45:20I thought all that was overblown to me. It just looked like, yeah, there was some refinement, but nothing you couldn't fix it in a single off season.
45:27And also nothing you couldn't fix by not having the weight of an entire offense on a man's shoulders.
45:32Like he was having to carry and do everything imaginable for that UNC offense.
45:35And I mean, not that it was great in new England, especially that rookie year, but then year two, step up and
45:41Oh, line talent, step up and receiver talent. It's still not great, but like it was one of the better situations he's
45:46had over the last five, four, four to five years of his life, comfortably, in my opinion.
45:50And then this year, AJ Brown, Romeo Dobbs, Elijah Barry Tucker.
45:53Like now I'm like, Oh my God. If that dude took that team to the Superbowl last year, the schedule is going
45:58to be harder, but like he's got way more to work with around him now.
46:02So I am super bullish on Drake May. Totally acknowledge Caleb Williams could absolutely eventually, you know, pass Drake May as soon
46:07as, as soon as this year, we might, that might become consensus, but Drake May was the MVP runner up last year.
46:12I kind of feel like I'd be crazy to not put him, even if it's just one spot, but I'd be crazy
46:18not to have him ahead of Caleb Williams right now.
46:20Tyler Shuck, he'll go in the TBD tier and I'd probably put him like right about there, maybe ahead of Michael Penix.
46:25That one's tough. Two guys with injuries in their background.
46:28We just saw Penix get hurt. Shuck didn't, but not super mobile, big arm quarterbacks.
46:31They're, they're kind of one of the same in a lot of ways.
46:35Jackson Dart, he'll go into the TBD tier. I'll put him towards the top of the TBD tier though.
46:39Also while we're here, I'm going to put Cam Ward in the TBD tier.
46:43Obviously he will not stay there. We'll talk about that at the end of the video.
46:47And then one more guy, Fernando Mendoza and the TBD tier.
46:49Anybody else? Oh, sorry. That was Ty Simpson. This is Fernando Mendoza.
46:52And then I'll put Ty right there. Yeah. Cool.
46:54I think that's the way I want to have it play out.
46:57Yeah. I think that's it for the TBD tier.
46:59Yeah. That's it for the TBD tier. James Winston.
47:02He's, he's a backup. He's a backup quarterback. He's a funny backup quarterback, but he's a backup quarterback.
47:06Maybe he's a deadline guy for this year. I thought the, the, the bangles should have entertained it last year.
47:11Just to like have a Yolo ball team with Lamar T and Jameis, but he's a backup.
47:15Russell Wilson just retired. So we don't even have to talk about him.
47:18Dante Moore is not in the NFL yet. Mark's Mariota.
47:20He's a backup quarterback. He's a fine backup quarterback.
47:23I'd probably put them like right here. Fine. Some solid games last year for the commanders.
47:27Also some, some moments where you're like, come on.
47:29Like at the, you had that pick six thrown into the sun against Dallas.
47:32He's like falling down, pick six, how to costly fumble on one of the other games he started.
47:36So, you know, like there's still some limitations. All right.
47:39Let me get to Justin Fields. And I'll be completely honest.
47:42I don't love that. I have to do this.
47:44Cause I was really bullish on Justin coming out of Ohio state, but I'm gonna probably put them like right here.
47:49And the only reason he's even ahead of Flacco and Bursette.
47:52Cause like, let's keep it a buck. Flacco and Bursette are better passing quarterbacks right now.
47:55And Kirk Cousins, even at this point, is probably still a better passing quarterback than Justin Fields, but Fields is a special athlete.
48:01And I don't want to overlook that. And there's still time in his career for him to have a little bit of
48:06a Juno Smith, Sam Darnold type, even, you know, Daniel Jones last year, that type of like a step forward in his career.
48:12I had been making the case all off season that he should go play for the minimum in San Francisco.
48:17Like I want to be around Kyle Shanahan and whatever voodoo he's got to like reclaim people's career.
48:21Going to Kansas city is not terribly far off though.
48:24Now, granted the draft of Garrett Nussmeyer, we'll see how ultimately those guys kind of compete for the number two spot, but
48:29especially my homes, it sounds like he's gonna be healthy week one, but like if we get to see like a starter
48:34to have Justin Fields and Andy Reid offense could create enough curiosity or like something where like the chiefs have clinched the one seed.
48:40So they don't play the starters week 17. Like it could be really interesting to see what Justin Fields looks like in an Andy Reid offense.
48:46And maybe he's able to take some steps forward as a passer because that's, that's what's going to come down to right now.
48:52All right. This is the, this is the guy that I know people are going to be upset with.
48:57I don't know. Something about last year. And some of it's the system and some of it's just him and AJ Brown, clearly not on the same page.
49:03There were a couple of times where it's like, man, did AJ Brown go all out for that ball?
49:08And there was a couple of times where it's like Jalen, like, I don't know if that's the read there, you know?
49:13I still think sometimes his like reads against zone, he can be, he can be tricked.
49:17I also like, especially with this new offense coming out, I've just been thinking a lot about how, what it's going to
49:22look like him attacking the middle of the field, right?
49:25You get rid of a boundary sideline winning, vertical plane, wide receiver and AJ Brown.
49:29And you get McKay lemon, you get Eli Stowers, you bring in Sean Manion to be the new OC coming from green
49:34Bay, where they attack the middle field. It's like, they're just asking him to do something different.
49:38And it's not something he's done a lot in college or at the NFL level.
49:42And he's been okay at it. Not great, but okay.
49:44So I'm just like, I'm kind of like iffy on where we're going to go.
49:48And like, even with that said, yeah, I know he won a Superbowl a couple of years ago.
49:52And that's awesome. A lot of that is that, that Philadelphia offense, right?
49:55Like I think in a lot of ways, like, this is not fair because the, his legs was a big component of that.
50:01But like, if you drop Dak Prescott on that Eagle team, I'm not sure they don't still win a Superbowl during love,
50:06Justin Herbert, you know, Drake made from a year ago on that exam.
50:09If you could warp time and do something like that, you know?
50:12So I mean, Jalen's good. Like, trust me, I'm a Steelers fan.
50:15Aaron Rogers is next up and he's going to go into the back of the average tier really probably should be the, you know, actually forget that.
50:22I'm not going to put them in the average tier.
50:24I'm going to put them in the top of the move on tier.
50:27It's time for the Steelers to move on, but they just refuse to do that.
50:31But anyways, he's like fine. Aaron Rogers is fine.
50:33Jalen hurts good. So like, trust me, I would take Jalen hurts over Aaron Rogers in a vacuum, but is he great?
50:38I don't know. I think there's just enough questions about his profile.
50:41And especially with this new coaching, you know, change coming in that they're going to answer the question.
50:46So that's why I don't really mind putting him in good.
50:48Cause look, if he takes, if he comes into this new system and these new weapons and he becomes like this super
50:54prolific guy attacking between the hashes and he answers all the questions that I'm a little hesitant on right now.
50:58Oh my God, he'll be right next to Justin Herbert.
51:01Maybe even a clips in them. I mean, a couple of years ago on this channel, I had Jalen hurts is like
51:06QB five and the elites here, but now I just have enough questions about his games.
51:10I wonder if defense has started to figure out enough about him and how he wants to play.
51:14And then this new system coming in. I'm just kind of curious to see how it all looks.
51:19All right, let's get to Sam Darnold. I'm going to put Darnold.
51:22It's a tricky one. I'm going to put them right behind Jared golf.
51:25You could easily sell me an argument that he goes ahead of golf, but I'll put them right behind it.
51:30Just because we have at this point, two years of Sam Darnold being like, Hey, that's a good solid quarterback.
51:35Jared golf. After year one has been a solid quarterback, anywhere from solid to pretty good in Darnold.
51:39Right now we got two years. And then the first of those two years included two pretty big collapses at the end
51:44of that, you know, 10 year in Minnesota. He didn't just win a super bowl.
51:48He also had a super bowl MVP at running back and office of line that had the right pieces come together at
51:53breakout season from JSN with just enough pieces and Rashid, he Torrey Horton for a little bit when he was healthy, a tight ends and a sick defense.
52:00So like, there's a lot there that also helps Sam Darnold out.
52:03So I'm going to put them just behind Jared golf.
52:05But I mean, imagine telling me five years ago, I'm going to put Sam Darnold in the good tier ahead of Trevor Lawrence.
52:11Imagine telling me that five years ago. I'd be like, what are you smoking?
52:14I'll have some of that, but here we are going into the 20, 27 season saying exactly that.
52:19Brock Purdy, I'll put in the same spot just ahead of Sam.
52:22He's been a good quarterback for longer. And honestly, I'll put him ahead of golf.
52:25Cause I do think there's a little bit more of the off script creation that Brock Purdy brings to the table.
52:30That being said, like you had to play with the Shanahan offense, a little bit of a cheat code, but you know,
52:36McVay is coming or sorry, golf's coming from playing with McVay and playing under Ben Johnson.
52:40So kind of six in one hand, half a dozen the other, but Purdy really awesome when it comes to throwing with anticipation, timing, great touch.
52:46Doesn't have an awesome arm. So all of those kind of, or how he overcomes not having an elite arm, but, um,
52:51and he's also, he trusts that offense a lot too.
52:54And that takes a lot of cojones to just trust Shanahan in a scheme.
52:57So got to give him credit there. Uh, let's go to Mac Jones.
53:00He's a backup quarterback, uh, through and through, but like a solid one.
53:03I think he proved himself pretty fine last year.
53:06Uh, I'll put him just ahead of Geno Smith.
53:08Like, um, well, Geno is kind of more of a move.
53:10I'll put him behind Geno Smith. I think in a vacuum, I'd take Geno ahead of Matt.
53:15I don't know. Maybe what I, I don't know.
53:17Maybe. Yeah, maybe. Um, I've always been a Geno guy though.
53:19So, uh, I'll put him just behind that, but like solid backup quarterback.
53:23I think he did a lot to kind of repair his stock by going to San Francisco.
53:27Kind of the same reason I made that case for Justin Fields.
53:30Like go to San Francisco and Shanahan's gonna make you better quarterback and good things follow.
53:33And that was kind of the point last year for Mac Jones.
53:36Then we get to Baker Mayfield. I'm going to put Baker in the good tier just behind T law.
53:41A lot of ups and downs last year. And I felt the first six games of the year, he got a little
53:46lucky in regards to like, there were some, there were more turnover worthy plays than interceptions logged.
53:50And then we started to see that kind of regress the mean in, in the middle and the end of the season.
53:56Plus all the injuries he had to battle through.
53:58The offensive line didn't necessarily do him a whole lot of favors.
54:01Um, even after Tristan works came back, he was great, but like the interior was pretty rough.
54:05Um, and then, you know, rotating arsenal of wide receivers, guys banged up, some guys coming off and then coming off the injury chart.
54:11And then right as that happens, someone else goes on.
54:13So it wasn't necessarily a perfect situation. And I'm curious to see what it looks like with Zach Robinson, uh, as the,
54:19as the play call, our new scheme, but coming from that Shanahan, you know, LA, you know, the, the Rams way of thinking.
54:24I'm curious to see what that looks like. Um, but big arm, has the moxie.
54:28We saw him use his legs a lot more than we ever have the year ago.
54:32There's still a lot to like about Baker. It just comes down to, can he stay healthy?
54:36And can we clean up the decision-making? That's just always going to kind of be the questions there for, you know, a six foot tall quarterback.
54:42And when your quarterback plays like Baker Mayfield. All right.
54:44Last guy we're going to talk about is Jaden Daniels.
54:47And I deliberated a lot on this because Jaden's going to go in the great tier.
54:51And, ah, what makes this so tough is like he, he missed so much last year.
54:55And then even when he was on the field, he just wasn't the same guy.
54:58So as much as I'd love to have them all in line with these 2024 guys, I'm going to put Jaden at
55:04the back end of the great tier, which trust me, Eagles fans, I hear you on your keyboards.
55:08I can hear you all the way from a different state.
55:11Jaden over Jalen hurts. Yeah, I think so. When you look at it as a two year sample size, Jaden had a insane historic rookie of the year.
55:17And then a second year in, you know, riddled with injuries and plagued by injuries.
55:21Really Jalen, the last two years, a big part of the reason why the Eagles went a super bowl.
55:26But even that year, I honestly came away thinking, Hey, Jane's better than Jalen.
55:29Yes. Jalen won the super bowl. But I was like, Jaden long-term is the guy I would rather have on my team.
55:34And then last year, Jaden gets hurt. So I don't want to hold that against him.
55:38That was a part of his concern coming out of LSU.
55:41He's such a skinny guy. He's going to have to bulk up, but like year two of him versus like the questions that came up with hurts.
55:48And, you know, and now I had the questions going into like this new scheme into next year.
55:52And I could have some questions about, you know, David blow coming in as the OC for the commanders.
55:56But the fact of the matter is that scheme is going to be dictated around Jane Daniels.
56:01As you're going to year three of a superstar quarterback, a guy you took number two overall, the guy you want to
56:06be, you know, you want to see everyone in the, in their new stadium wearing Jane Daniels jerseys, right?
56:11Like that's what you want there. David blow is going to build that offense around him.
56:14The Eagles are bringing in a guy to adjust Jalen hurts.
56:17And frankly, here's a hot take. If it doesn't go well, I wouldn't be shocked that like, there's maybe a market out there for Jalen hurts.
56:23Like if it's a really bad year, and I mean, part of it's also like Philadelphia, like you have no room for error.
56:29The second, you know, like Nick Sirianni went, it goes to the super bowl and the next year they melt down and people are calling for his job.
56:36And it's like, remember that super bowl he took y'all to?
56:38And then the same role he won right after that, you know, like it's just kind of, you know, Philadelphia is a brutal sports town.
56:45So if it doesn't look good in the Sean Mannion offense, I wonder if there were some rumors and some chatter around that.
56:50And again, I like Jalen hurts. I think he's a good quarterback, but ultimately I do think the upside of Jane Daniels,
56:55if he can stay healthy, I think there's a higher ceiling there.
56:58And ultimately I think long-term who would I rather have the next five years?
57:02If you're telling me he's healthy, I take Jane Daniels over Jalen hurts, but I already know the NFC East fans are
57:07going to absolutely put their pitchforks out. Other NFC East fans are going to tell me how I'm crazy.
57:12I have Dak over both of them, but I, you know, this is my list.
57:15I'd love to see yours. Let me know what changes you make down below in the comment section.
