Derrick Henry

PositiveRole0:19

Derrick Henry doesn't catch many passes but is reliable for scoring touchdowns, making him a valuable stack partner with Lamar Jackson.

Insight page
PositiveUsage0:19

Derrick Henry is valuable for stacking with Lamar Jackson despite limited pass-catching ability, as he is a reliable touchdown scorer in the running game.

Insight page

George Pickens

PositiveValue0:33

George Pickens could be available in the 15th round according to Sam Wise, representing significant conviction and value at that draft position.

Insight page

Ja'Marr Chase

PositiveValue0:18

Stacking Jamar Chase with Joe Burrow is mathematically sound because when Chase has a big game, Burrow will too, making it a common-sense pairing in best ball drafts.

Insight page

Joe Burrow

PositiveValue0:18

Joe Burrow is a premium quarterback target for stacking purposes, as pairing him with Jamar Chase creates mathematical correlation value in best ball.

Insight page

Jonah Coleman

PositiveRole0:30

Jonah Coleman was drafted ahead of RJ Harvey, suggesting he has taken over the primary role in the backfield.

Insight page

Jonathon Brooks

PositiveValue0:29

Jonathan Brooks was being drafted in the 220s early in the season but has since risen to nearly pick 100, representing a significant market inefficiency that the speaker exploited early.

0:34Alright, welcome to The Dominator. I'm your fantasy conciliary, Dan Williamson, the overhyped sleeper.
0:38You can find me on x at overhypedsleeper. Drop the final e from sleeper.
0:42And today I've got a fun treat for y'all.
0:45We're gonna take a deep dive into best ball with somebody who's brand new to the player profiler network.
0:50But if you're active on x and you play best ball, I'm guessing my guest today will probably need no introduction.
0:56He's often opinionated, never shy, and he's sharp as a tack.
0:59And that's what we want out of any great follow on any social media.
1:03So let's get started. Alright, welcome Sean. How are you doing today?
1:07Hey Dan. I'm good man. Hey, much appreciated for having me on.
1:10It's really a big pleasure. I'm really thankful for you for asking me to be on.
1:15It's gonna be a fun show. Yeah, I'm really looking forward to it too.
1:19I love bringing people on that, you know, either haven't done a lot of shows or it's been a while or whatever.
1:25You know, because it's it I just like hearing new voices, you know, voices that can probably, you know, use a little
1:31bit more promotion, you know, maybe find a few new follows all of that.
1:35So if you haven't found Sean on x yet, take a moment to do that and follow him at s Mitchell 17
1:42all rammed together just one word there. Is that correct, Sean?
1:45That's it. That's the one yet. They at s Mitchell 17 that that's been my handle ever since I got on Twitter x way back in 2011.
1:52Yeah, there you go. You've been on there about as long as I have.
1:56I'm an OG. I'm an OG too. No doubt.
1:59Yeah, it'll be well worth your time to follow him.
2:02And, you know, I mean, I'm excited to chop it up with you.
2:06And but why don't we start with a little bit of background info, Sean, for those who don't know you kind of what's your fantasy football backstory?
2:13How'd you get into the game? And, you know, what's kind of been the progression for you?
2:18Gotcha. Gotcha. Yeah. Truth, man, do we have do we have enough time?
2:22No, I'm just kidding. So I was a I was big in the poker streets, huge into the online poker scene whenever the big boom happened.
2:29And that was what I ate, slept and dreamt of, you know, from the time I was about 16 years old till
2:35black Tuesday, you know, when it all shut down here in US.
2:39And so after that, I was like, what am I going to do now?
2:43You know, I didn't have anything else to do.
2:45I was I played a little bit of fantasy.
2:48I've done a few redraft leagues with some cousins, family members, uncle, whatever, had one or two with them.
2:53And then I had some with a couple of buddies.
2:56But that's where I don't have what a lot of people have in the fantasy spaces.
3:01I don't have those quarter sets of friends or leagues that I played in from the time I, you know, started playing fantasy up till now.
3:08And that's probably why I got more into best ball to be quite honest.
3:12So got into playing DFS, daily fantasy sports, just playing on DraftKings a lot.
3:16That really kind of sparked my interest more into obviously doing fantasy stuff.
3:20I was really more into NBA, I'll be honest.
3:22I even did a little stint with Fantasy Alarm.
3:25Those guys over there, shout out to those guys, wrote for them for a little while.
3:29And then I kind of started getting more. I started doing some some NFL articles, waiver wires, stuff of that nature.
3:35And then really just kind of started diving in more into trying to play more fantasy football.
3:40I started playing on Draft Street. I don't know if you've ever heard of that.
3:45It's the OG Draft Street site. I think my cousin had told me about it.
3:49Said, hey, man, you can go on there. You can do the snake draft if you beat.
3:54And I can't for the life of me remember who it was.
3:57It was it was a big, big, big name at that time in the fantasy space.
4:02And I was like, if you beat them, you win like, I don't know, ten bucks or something.
4:07And I'm like, OK, sure. You know, everybody in their home links thinks they're the best fantasy player in the world.
4:13Right. So anyway, long story short, I went on there, started playing, doing the snake drafts, all the free ones.
4:18I wouldn't even spend the money at that time.
4:21And I actually beat him in one. And I was like, oh, man, this is awesome.
4:26This is great. You know, at that time, that was when in the deadly fantasy side of things, the algos were starting
4:32to come alive, the draft, you know, the tools, all those things.
4:35And that kind of pushed me away. And then PlayDraft came open, which was the first big best fall website.
4:41Jeremy Levine, the same people that made Underdog had PlayDraft.
4:44Started playing on there. They had their first big contest.
4:47And I think I won like $1,600 that year.
4:49Can't remember what year it was. So once they got bought out by FanDuel, then Underdog came.
4:54But needless to say, that was really kind of my progression.
4:57By the time I got to Underdog, I was basically done playing managed leagues, which is six, seven, eight years ago.
5:03And it's just been best fall ever since then.
5:06So. Totally understand that. I am one of those who still plays the managed leagues.
5:10I still have my dynasty leagues. And I'll tell you what, man, it's every year I'm like, I got to cut back on those managed leagues.
5:17I mean, you know, you're waking up at 4 a.m.
5:20to run labor wires. You know, it's, it's stuff, you know, stuff gets monotonous and stuff kind of, people will call best ball lazy and that's completely fine.
5:28But it's also somewhere where you can get a ton of volume down and win millions of dollars and never have to touch your lineup again.
5:36I mean, that's it. Yeah. Exactly. Once the season starts, you can, you can just enjoy it.
5:40Let it ride. Yeah. Let it ride. That's it.
5:43Yep. That, that's the best thing. Of course, you're, you're living and dying with every injury to your, to your squads.
5:49You know, that, that is the one thing I like about managed redraft is you can restock the old lineup if you need to.
5:56Sure. But, you know, it's, it's a lot of fun to just have those teams that you can just kind of sit
6:02back and check in on every once in a while and you just, just enjoy how it's going.
6:07So, so you're, you're pretty, are you doing any other best ball other than underdog?
6:11Are you pretty much fully underdog at this point?
6:14I do. I decided to dive into DraftKings a lot more this year.
6:18Um, they really have taken a big step in their best ball game.
6:21Uh, I still think that their user interfaces needs some work, but they've done a lot of work to it.
6:27They've done a lot to, to help out their side of the, of trying to capture the market.
6:32And, uh, they've come up with some really good contests right now.
6:36They, they have some really good contests. And, uh, so I am going to be kind of diversifying a little bit more
6:42where I was playing a lot, mainly on UD 90%.
6:45Now I'm kind of going to get it to more of a 60, 40 of probably I've played on sites like drafters, um, other sites.
6:52Uh, but, uh, I haven't done any of the, you know, the FPC and stuff of that nature.
6:57I've had people approach me and say, Hey, why don't you come on over?
7:01And, and I don't know, I don't want to get too far out there with just how many already, you know, I'm
7:07drafting five, 600, 700 teams, uh, you know, in a season.
7:10So, uh, adding one more thing is just like, okay, I'm how far out there do I really want to get, you
7:17know, and trying to keep up with all the draft strategies, all the different formats, all that same stuff.
7:22Uh, I'm one that tends to try to stay in one lane or two and, and just kind of try to hammer those out.
7:29Yep. Definitely makes sense. I, I do several different platforms, but I really try to major on, you know, just basically three platforms.
7:35I do the, uh, underdog and FFPC and FFC, uh, for the most part, and, you know, little, little bits and pieces
7:42elsewhere, but those are the ones that I'm, I'm mostly into.
7:45So, um, let's just kind of dive into, to draft strategy a little bit.
7:49And I know, uh, you know, you've, you've done a ton of drafting already this year.
7:53Um, and one of the fun things about being in drafts is not only, you know, trying to build your own teams,
8:00but seeing what other people are doing on their teams.
8:02And I'm curious, uh, you know, what are some common mistakes that you see happening in your drafts, uh, that, that people are doing?
8:09Um, I think a couple of things that I routinely see is like over allocating for, for certain positions.
8:15Um, taking two early quarterbacks, taking two early tight ends, um, taking four running backs, you know, right off the gate.
8:21And then your wide receiver one is, is, you know, a guy that you're probably not gonna be able to rely on very much weekly.
8:28Um, stuff like that take lot where, where guys are just like, they will not say, it doesn't matter if they fall 20 spots as ADP.
8:35They're just not going to take them. Um, there has become a point where a cost differentiates itself from being one that
8:41you don't want to one that you do want.
8:44Um, so things of that nature. Uh, and that's kind of the thing that the way that I've been playing the game
8:50now for the last four or five years is, is not so much risk averse.
8:55It's more exploitative. Uh, want to try to hammer out and get, I say that get your guys, but it's more of,
9:01I want to get my guys, but I'm also not going to pass up on guys that I may not, or that
9:07I might be light on that drop so far.
9:10That's going to make my team that much better.
9:12Um, so I think it, you know, I commonly refer to it as, it's almost like a stock market.
9:18Um, the way that you can draft the landscape of, you know, I started drafting in January.
9:22Uh, a lot of people start drafting in January as soon as the pre NFL draft, you know, all that stuff starts coming out.
9:29Yeah. January 31st, I think your 26 is when they, you know, started dropping the contest this year.
9:34And then I was drafting on day one. Uh, but yeah, like that, those things, um, you know, you got, you know,
9:41they're not telling us, you know, there's been so many times you hear people say, when you're drafting a team, you have to tell the story.
9:48Uh, you have to say, does it make sense?
9:51So there's multiple times during the draft where I say, does this player make sense for my team?
9:56How I'm building it, what I've got at the, you know, what I've got at that point already, what I'm trying to
10:02accomplish when I'm halfway through the draft. I see a lot of people that just don't really try to tell the story with their team either.
10:09They're, they're not making a lot of sense. There's been multiple times where I'll see them pass up a quarterback stack to
10:16get another running back that really didn't help their team, uh, or vice versa with the wide receiver.
10:21Uh, so, you know, a lot of the times they want to play more safe where I'm on the other.
10:26Side of wanting to play more fragile, more aggressive.
10:29Uh, so I think that's, and again, it's, it's, that's my point of view, not saying it's wrong.
10:34Uh, but that's some of the stuff that I see whenever I have drafted here recently.
10:39Yeah, I, I, I agree with that. I mean, you know, I, I call those, uh, teams that aren't well put together
10:45kind of Frankenstein teams, you know, cause it seems like they're, you know, they're just kind of grabbing parts out of a
10:51bin and trying to weld them together and doesn't always fit real well.
10:55Uh, you know, and that's, that, that can be a real problem.
10:58You know, I think, um, you know, and sometimes people feel like they have to be too rigid about, well, I've got
11:05to get, you know, three quarterbacks or I've got to get, uh, you know, I've got to have my fifth wide receiver
11:11by, you know, round 10 or round eight or whatever.
11:14And, and so they start forcing things rather than letting the draft come to them.
11:18And I think, you know, you've got to let the draft come to you, you know, even though, you know, like the,
11:24you know, you can do all this research about what's, you know, what's one underdog before, uh, you know, what are the
11:30most, what are the best builds to have? And they'll tell you, you know, okay, well, it's three quarterbacks and, you know,
11:37five running backs and seven wide receivers and three tight ends.
11:40Well, that's great. But that also assumes you have a relatively typical team.
11:44You might have a team where, you know what, you grab two earlier quarterbacks because you found an amazing value on a second one or something like that.
11:52Now you're going to change because you're, you've already spent a ton of draft capital on quarterbacks.
11:56So you've got to move over and, you know, maybe you're getting that extra wide receiver, extra running back, wherever you feel weakest.
12:03So, uh, you know, I'm, I'm right with you there.
12:06Yeah, that's, that's a good point. And that I never go into a draft with a set plan.
12:11Like I might have a start of a plan after I take my first three picks or, you know, something of that nature.
12:17But I think that's what makes a fluid and good drafter is somebody who can pivot on the go.
12:23You know, you'll see people who will just totally bomb their draft just because they didn't get the quarterback that stacks with their two players they've already got.
12:31And then they're putting it on X and they're all, can't believe this person took this part.
12:36That's, that's part of drafting. Uh, and if you're a volume drafter, you just, it's like, you know, you just understand that you're going to have that.
12:43You're going to have a lot. You can definitely have it on draft games because nobody cares about stacking or who you,
12:50you know, who's got who in that, but they're going to take whatever quarterback they feel like they want at that time.
12:56So, you know, a lot of that's something that I run into a lot too.
13:00Like, don't, you can't have a, like you mentioned, you've got to let the draft come to you.
13:05You've got to find, you know, the pivots where you can.
13:08And that's why you should always have two to three options for every single time you're coming up on the clock.
13:14Well, I want this one, but then I also will take him next and then I'll take this guy next.
13:20And that's basically how I play it. If I, if they're take this guy, well, I'm going to take this guy.
13:26That's usually, I have two or three plans in place while I'm getting ready to be on the clock.
13:31Yep. Makes a lot of sense. You know, but given, you know, let's, let's say a draft goes, you know, as you, you hope it does or whatever.
13:39Do you have any favorite build styles? You know, any, is there any loose framework that you like to adhere to, or
13:46are you just really taking it draft by draft?
13:48Pretty much to that point, you know, and that was another one that I was going to mention.
13:53I know I mentioned to you, Dan, right before we hopped on, but like, just not trying to burn yourself out while drafting.
14:00Like I've done that in prior years. Where I'm just like, oh man, I want to get X number of drafts in.
14:06And you're like, okay, well, I've got to do five a day.
14:10And you get to a point where it's getting monotonous.
14:12You're picking a lot of the same guys. You're doing a lot of the same builds.
14:17You know, and then your exposure is starting to get a little wonky.
14:21And you're like, okay, well, and then you start going, you're changing everything that you were going to do because of what you've already done.
14:28So that's something that's, yeah, I don't go in there and say, hey, this is going to be a 3-6-6-3.
14:33Or this is going to be a 2-6-8-3. Whatever.
14:36I don't go into it that way. What I pick, you know, obviously if I spend a lot of early capital on
14:42a quarterback, I'm going to probably finish with two.
14:45If I get a Trey McBride or a Brock Bowers or a guy, you know, a tight end, I'm going to finish with two.
14:52And that's really where I stand on, especially an 18-round post-NFL draft where we have the bye weeks.
14:5720-round contests, you know, when we don't know bye weeks, that's whenever you play things a little bit safer.
15:02But, yeah, once we get to the 18-round contest like the BBM and stuff like that, whenever we're getting schedule release, we've gotten the buys.
15:09I start to really start taking stands on especially those onesie positions.
15:13Yeah, that makes sense. And those 18-round drafts, like you say, they really force you to make some choices.
15:18You know, you're not going to get everything you want in 18 rounds.
15:22You know, when I play on FFPC, there's 20 rounds there.
15:25So you've got a couple extra rounds to kind of, you know, you can play around a little bit more.
15:31But you just can't do that on underdogs. So I think that's what makes it a lot of fun is because every
15:37team is probably going to have at least one position that's slightly weak.
15:41And, you know, you just got to figure out how you're going to get around that.
15:45Yeah, and that's, you know, to that point, like I'm a very big proponent of 18 rounds.
15:50And I'm also a very big proponent of fast drafts.
15:53I don't do slow drafts. I couldn't tell you.
15:55Whenever I enter a slow draft on accident, I get more mad than anything because I've done it multiple times.
16:01And honestly, it's just – slow drafts, like you said, like I want people to have to make those choices in real time.
16:08Especially now that there's 20-second clocks and not 30, you're really having to make those choices in real time.
16:13The tough choices, like you can't just tack on those extra three or four wide receivers that you want at the end
16:19of drafts and going to give yourself that big blanket.
16:22So, yeah, I would much rather make people make those hard decisions in real time.
16:26And that's why I'd rather do fast drafts and 18 rounds.
16:30Yep, yep. Totally makes sense. All right, we're going to take a quick break here.
16:34And then we're going to be right back with a little bit more, Sean.
16:38You know, I get asked, is AI ruining fantasy sports?
16:41And the answer is absolutely not. We've had consensus rankings available for a long time.
16:45But people subscribe to the player rankings at playerprofiler.com for super flex, tight end premium, best ball, even offensive line rankings.
16:51Of course, your rookie rankings, your dynasty rankings are all available in the ranking service for playerprofiler.com.
16:56Password protected so the bots can't get to it and you can maintain your edge.
17:00And use code PODFATHER for $5 off. Woo! It's a good deal.
17:03This episode is brought to you by Google Chrome.
17:06You think you know a browser, but Gemini and Chrome?
17:09That's new. It can help you with practically anything on the web.
17:12Like restoring a vintage motorcycle from a 50-page restoration block.
17:15Or finally break down that long article you've had open for weeks.
17:19Gemini and Chrome is here for it. Ready to make anything online make sense?
17:23There's no place like Chrome. Check responses set up required.
17:25Compatibility and availability varies 18+. They say you can tell a lot about a person by the contents of their freezer.
17:31So, what does a bottle of Jägermeister say? It says you have standards.
17:35You don't cut corners. And you like your Jägermeister shots the way they're meant to be enjoyed.
17:40Ice cold. As for the frozen taquitos and mystery leftovers, we'll keep that between us.
17:44Drink it cold or don't drink it at all.
17:47Jägermeister. Damn, that's cold. Drink responsibly. Jägermeister liqueur 35% alcohol by volume.
17:50Imported by Mass Jägermeister, U.S. White Plains, New York.
17:53And we're back. So, Sean, let's talk a little bit about stacking.
17:56How much attention are you paying to that as you're going through your drafts?
18:00Any rules of thumb that you use on stacking?
18:03I mean, you know, it's math, right? It's math.
18:05If you get Jamar Chase, you want Joe Burrow, right?
18:08I mean, it's just common sense. It's math. You understand that if Jamar Chase has a big game, so is Joe Burrow.
18:14So, with that being said, you do want to stack whenever you can.
18:18Like, that's – obviously, if I don't start with a premium wide receiver that's going to have a premium quarterback, I start
18:24to pick the wide receivers that I know I can backstack with for that reason.
18:29And that gives me more reason to take those guys that have the quarterbacks that go later.
18:33That's also part of that, you know, trying to let the draft come to you, flow with the draft.
18:39Stacking, I think, is very important. I think that's maybe the first thing that you learn in best ball.
18:44A lot of people still do that in redraft.
18:47I mean, I used to do it whenever I played in redraft.
18:50I think it's still viable across all strategies. But, yeah, stacking, obviously, I don't try to have five or six players on the team.
18:57I think you can overdo it a bit. I think the most I usually try to have is maybe two to three
19:03stack partners with a quarterback, you know, a tight end, a running back, a wide receiver.
19:08You know, mostly if I'm doing a running back, I'm going to want one that catches passes.
19:13That's kind of a big part of having a running back stack with a quarterback.
19:17You know, there are instances where you have a Lamar and Derrick Henry where both have their value.
19:22Lamar rushes, can get touchdowns that way. And then, of course, Derrick Henry doesn't catch a lot of passes, but you already
19:28know he's going to score some touchdowns. So I think there are some intricacies with stacking.
19:33I think a lot of people push it to the limit a little too much.
19:37You know, I'm not going to force a stack and take a guy that's 10 picks before ADP.
19:42There are times where if I believe, especially if I'm at the turn, you know, if I'm at the 1-2 or if
19:49I'm at the 11 or 12 spot, there could be – if I can feel there's a quarterback run coming and I've
19:55got two guys, I'm not going to try to push it like a lot of people will want to do these days
20:01and then they'll complain about it when they don't get their quarterback.
20:05I'm just going to, you know, I'm going to cut it up right there and I'm just going to go ahead and take the guy.
20:12I feel like my team is more valuable with him than without him.
20:15So that's kind of a good way for me to look at it.
20:19Yeah, exactly. I mean, you know, and basically what it comes down to is, you know, you've got, you know, 20, 22 picks before your next pick.
20:27Right. You know, so you just got to look at the whole range of guys who aren't coming back to you most likely.
20:33And, you know, if any of your targets are on there, now is the time to take them.
20:38You can't sit there and just push and hope.
20:41So it's especially guys that are going, you know, at ADP or, because, you know, you get a good feel.
20:47You get a good feel. You know who people are taking and who they're not.
20:51So if it's a guy that's, you know, falling continually, then yeah, sure.
20:55Try to push all day. Yeah, for sure. And it's definitely easier to, you know, play the push game when you're a
21:01little bit more in the middle of the draft and you've got, you know, maybe 10, 12 spots before your next pick.
21:07And, you know, life is a little bit easier there.
21:10But we can't always be there. And sometimes that's not where you end up wanting to be just because, you know, it
21:16turns out that, you know, at the end of the season, you know, oh, you really wanted, you know, draft spot one
21:22or two or you really wanted draft spot 11 or 12.
21:26Some years, I mean, some years it's seven or eight.
21:28But, you know, you just never know what it's going to be.
21:32Yeah, and I think that's also why it's important to be looking ahead.
21:36You know, a lot of people, they just want to make their picks and then they'll do something off the side and
21:42they're, you know, playing something else off the side.
21:44They're playing a game or whatever. They're getting on Twitter.
21:47Or I try to pay attention to, you know, who am I looking to get, like you said, like who are my
21:54targets in the next couple of picks? And a lot of people will lose sight of that.
21:58They'll lose sight and then they'll get mad whenever those players get taken, you know, in the next six, seven, ten picks.
22:05So, yeah, looking ahead and seeing, you know, when your next pick is, who are the guys around that you want, trying to be cognizant of that.
22:12And then, again, if you feel like you should take them then, take them then.
22:17Yeah, I think that makes a lot of sense.
22:19What about correlation and the final three weeks of the season?
22:22What do you do about that? I think that's, you know, just like you're trying to tell a story about your lineup
22:29with your draft, I think you're also trying to put the puzzle piece together, right?
22:33So you're starting with, you know, the first puzzle piece.
22:36And then you're like, okay, where is the next one coming in?
22:39And then where do I go from there? I think that the correlation with the playoff weeks is, has some merit and also doesn't.
22:46I think it, you know, a lot of people now will say, oh, it should just be a tiebreaker.
22:51And I think I get to a point in the draft now more than I did, because obviously whenever the whole week
22:5817 thing came out, everybody, it was just everybody wanted to do week 17.
23:02You got to have week 17 stacks. You got to have runbacks.
23:05You got to have this. I think that was kind of just as part of the phase that kind of helps the overall process of drafting now.
23:13All the key, you know, identifiers, you know, stacking, correlation, playoff weeks, construction, you know, your build specific types, you know, how
23:19you're going to do those certain things. I think those playoff weeks can do you really good if you make it there,
23:25but you've also got to set your team up to make it there, right?
23:29A lot of people forget that. They're like, I just want to get this.
23:33I want to get the Detroit and the, you know, whoever's Detroit's playing against.
23:37Yeah. So trying to just like make sure you only get those stacks is where you can really mess up your lineup.
23:43So for me, it's like I try to get a good set of like 10 picks or so.
23:48Then I see who I've got and I see, and sometimes it just naturally happens.
23:53You just naturally get those stacks that you didn't even really think of because they were just your targets already.
23:58You know, I do think that if you're playing different types of contests, you know, there are the pod contests that we're kind of referring to.
24:06There's other contests that are going to have different advance rates where you really need to pay attention to your format.
24:12You need to pay a real big attention to your advance.
24:15You know, some like they just dropped the Frenchie on underdog.
24:18That was like the first round was 11 out of 12.
24:21So like you can play that as loosely as you can, because all you got to do is beat 11 people.
24:27Right. I mean, one person's not going to make it to the next round, you know, the first, first week of the playoffs.
24:34So paying attention to that, if it's a one out of 12, you really need to try to shoot for the moon.
24:40I think two or 12, same kind of, same kind of reasoning.
24:43So I think paying attention to, to those things and that should help you understand if you need to be being more
24:50fluid and trying to play for those playoff weeks, especially in just large field contests, like the BBM, you, you really need
24:56to be trying to shoot for the moon in those.
24:59You shouldn't be playing risk averse. So with that being said, like I said, if I get about eight, nine picks in,
25:05then I'm starting to look and say, okay, who do I got?
25:08Who can I correlate with on these playoff weeks?
25:11Is this, should I be looking at week 16?
25:14Should I be looking at week 17? But with that being said, it can really help you with the correlation.
25:19If you do get to week 17, as we've seen this, you know, the last couple of prior BBM winners had at
25:26least three or four players of correlated week 17.
25:28Yeah, totally. And you know, what I, what I try to do on that is I, I think of it as being interlaced correlation.
25:35I'm looking at weeks 15, 16, and 17 a lot of the time.
25:39And what I'm trying to do is, is take players from teams where, you know, I'm going to have some correlation each of those three weeks.
25:46And hopefully I can find some teams where I can do, you know, more than one week against more than one team,
25:52you know, like you get, you know, Detroit and Chicago play well together, you know, and, and different things like that where,
25:59you know, and then you can throw in Houston.
26:01I think Houston plays two, two games against NFC North, you know, so getting that into your head and kind of figuring
26:07out, okay, well, okay, now I got a green Bay guy.
26:11So, you know, here's the teams I want to be looking at that are the last three weeks.
26:16And then I, you know, knowing what teams those play, you know, and if you're building a lot of little, you know,
26:22stacks of two players from several different teams, a lot of times you can end up with, you know, more than one correlation across each of those weeks.
26:30And I think that, you know, that can add to it, but you got to really also, you know, either, you know,
26:36like I have a cheat sheet in front of me when I'm doing it, which makes it much, much easier.
26:42Right. Right. And to that point, you know, Dan, like I'm not going to try to get every single week, 17 game, right.
26:48I'm going to pick, you know, my favorite three to five or six, and then I'm going to try to hammer those.
26:55I'm picking the ones that I feel like have the worst defenses, the best offenses, they're going to shoot out.
27:00I also think that's where a lot of people get in trouble with that, where they just, they'll go and try to
27:07do their last two picks and they'll get, they'll pick like wide receiver fours or fives for these teams that are available
27:13just because they want to get that week, 17 stack.
27:16Whenever that in all reality, that player might not play a single down all year long, you know?
27:21So I think it's just when it makes sense.
27:23Again, it's, it's trying to make sure you're fitting it into a viable build.
27:27And I would say that the week 17, week 15, the playoff weeks are probably one of the last things that I
27:34tie in to my, to my law, to my lineups.
27:36Like, you know, you get your, you want to make sure you get the construct first.
27:41You want to make sure you balance your, your across the board, running backs, wide receivers, quarterback side ends.
27:46Then you're, you're stacking in your correlation. And then I think it comes to playoff.
27:51Yeah. Without a doubt. I mean, you know, you, you know, to even get there, you've got to have good players and
27:57hopefully on good teams that are scoring a lot of points.
28:00And, you know, you just can't be, as you said, looking at wide receiver four or fives.
28:05I mean, if I'm looking past wide receiver three, I got to have a little time.
28:09It happens more than, you know, too. I mean, you'll see it, you'll see it in a lot of drafts and you,
28:16yeah, these people just be taking those and you're like, why?
28:19I mean, yeah. What's that? What is that story from a bad team?
28:23Yeah. Like, you know, you don't want to take the, you know, from the Eagles.
28:27It's funny that they, everybody hates taking the wide receiver three for the Eagles.
28:31That's one that everybody brings up every time they talk about the Eagles.
28:35But yeah, it's just like those instances, you know, they can really hurt you.
28:39Yep. For sure. So it sounds, sounds to me like you're, you're definitely a value drafter and that you're willing to take that falling player.
28:46Do you do much reaching when you're drafting other than, of course, when you're on the ends, like we talked about already,
28:52you know, or when, when do you think it's okay to reach?
28:55So, you know, I shared, you know, that, that post that I sent you earlier in the DM, that was kind of, I wrote that out.
29:03It's been a few months ago when I first started drafting again.
29:06And that's really kind of how I play basketball.
29:09Now, like I said, I kind of treat it, treat it like the stock market.
29:13I try to find the, you know, the first drafting phase, like I called it was basically your pre NFL draft right
29:19before the NFL draft, right before free agency. That's whenever I like to try to hammer out the guys that I think are mispriced from the year.
29:27Like I'm trying to be exploitative. I've got them.
29:29I'm usually taking them well earlier than they're, than they're going because they, you're trying to beat the shift and B, you're
29:36trying, you know, that they could go 40, 50 spots up like Jonathan Brooks per se.
29:40I was getting him in the two twenties. Now he's, you know, going at nearly pick a hundred.
29:45Same thing for a lot of other players. A lot of the rookies, the Casey Concepcion's one that was basically going undrafted.
29:52Now he's, so I think in the early part of the drafting season, when you, when there's not a lot of information,
29:58all you can really go off of is prior year.
30:01That's the time you really need to be hammering out the market inefficiencies.
30:04Then once you start to gather more information and you start to get more fluid, then you can actually kind of smooth
30:11out your ownership percentages per se, and then start to really fixate on the guys you really want to get.
30:16And then I, like I said, I think it's basically after, you know, basically after you get into the OTAs in the
30:23camp where we're about to be now, this is whenever you're going to get the most news and you can really start
30:29to, because the market's getting way more efficient. ADPs are starting to get way more efficient.
30:34You're not getting nearly many as drops. People are reacting to news way more now.
30:38So you do get those ADP dips like we're about to get on some guys.
30:42Let's see. A good example would be, man, who was the guy that just, we had the new RJ Harvey.
30:48RJ Harvey was already a bad, bad pick because nobody really wanted him.
30:51They drafted Jonah Coleman. Now we get the news about the torn labrum, the surgery.
30:56Now he's probably going to fall to who knows what.
30:59So those are the kinds of things that, you know, you can pay attention to more now where in the early part,
31:05you were just trying to really hammer out your guys.
31:08So I guess with that being said, I'm, I'm not risk averse.
31:11I am more of a get your guy. I'm not a big, Oh, I've got to take every ADP value that falls to me.
31:18If I don't like the guy, I'm not going to take him.
31:21I don't care if he's 20 picks pass. If I simply do not like the player and I do not think that
31:28they can bring me the value that I think they can at that certain ADP, even the depressed ADP, I'm not going to take it.
31:35That's just how I am. And that's the way I played for a while now.
31:39I fully agree with that. One of my good friends, David Hubbard, who does a lot of high stakes.
31:44He's one of those sayings is, you know, you, if he's a bad pick, you know, a lot of times he's a
31:51bad pick, not only at the price he was going, but also at the price three rounds later, you know, it's just
31:57some, some players are just bad picks almost no matter where they go.
32:01So, uh, yeah. And just having conviction, you know, playing with your, if you have stands and again, I am, but like
32:07I said here last three or four years, I've been really big on not being a smooth percentage, uh, a player.
32:13I've been more exploitative where I want to get the higher percentages on the guys who I think are going to beat their ADPs or crush their ADPs.
32:21Uh, so yeah, just having conviction in your, in your stands and staying with them because there's a lot of times you go and watch a show.
32:28And then you hear that show talk about some, a player that you weren't on already.
32:33And I'm, I'm guilty of this too, but you go and watch a best ball show and then you hear, Oh, they
32:39talked up so-and-so and he's not on your board really.
32:42But then all of a sudden, no, no, you see him in drafts and you're starting to mix him in.
32:48And then you're like, and then it doesn't work out.
32:51And you're like, well, who's false that, you know?
32:53So again, just one of those things, just having conviction is, I think is, is major.
32:58Yeah. Speaking of conviction, conviction, our buddy Sam wise, uh, George Pickens could be available in the 15th.
33:03I won't tell you that's, that's what I call conviction.
33:06That's conviction. That's conviction. No doubt about it. So we're talking about ownership percentages.
33:10Is there ever a point that you get uncomfortable about it?
33:13How much of a player you have? Is there a percentage you don't want to get above?
33:18And also just to, to kind of follow up on that, do the rules change depending on what round it is?
33:24Do you have like a sliding scale or anything?
33:26Uh, you know, and you, you probably maybe don't have, you know, specific percentages you think about.
33:31I know I don't. Um, I know I'm just checking, you know, my exposures every so often.
33:36Periodically. Yeah. Yeah. And I'm just looking at him like, Ooh, I'm, I'm a little bit higher than on that guy.
33:42Then I want to be here a little bit lower on this guy.
33:46I don't want to be. And, you know, I'm adjusting up or down, but, um, you know, for me, I use a
33:52little bit more of a sliding scale, you know, early in the draft.
33:56I, I tend to not fully fade guys and I tend to, uh, not get too heavy on guys.
34:01I mean, there are still certain people that I've, you know, I'll fully fade.
34:05Like I haven't taken him a leak neighbors yet just because I think, yeah, you know, I, I think that probably his,
34:11you know, his draft slot is going to fall.
34:14His ADP is going to fall and I'm going to be able to get him a little bit cheaper later.
34:19We think, we think that, but it doesn't happen very often.
34:23But on the other hand, you know, if I don't know how much he's going to go up either from where he's at.
34:29So I feel like I might be able to get in there and, you know, get the shares.
34:34I need if I decide I need some, but how do you feel about all that?
34:39I mean, you know, I, I did the, you know, the literal, the first little board that came out with underdog, which was the pre NFL contest.
34:47It was a, they did it as a 20 max this time.
34:50And then they did it at 50 max the year before.
34:53Well, I thought that it was going to feel pretty quickly.
34:56Uh, and you know, that's something else I wanted to hit on after this, but so I ended up with like 55%
35:02David Njoku because he was basically going undrafted. Nobody was taking him.
35:06Um, I don't mind in the time boxes that I feel are going to be, you know, when I say time box,
35:12I'm referring to contests that are going to be open for a month or a month and a half.
35:18Whereas like BBM, that's going to be open for multiple months.
35:21I want to be overly aggressive. I want to get the guys that I want to get.
35:26And I want to have them as high as I feel like the percentage I'm again, that's where I'm not playing the
35:32risk averse side of things where I would as the end of BBM where I would continually check my exposures and say,
35:38I need to shave off a little, you know, 5% on that one.
35:42I need to bring up this one. Um, but I don't really play a lot of the BBM anymore.
35:47Uh, yeah, I did play, I, I maxed out BBM too.
35:50I think after I made the finals in the one that Herzig won, I think it was one.
35:55I got to, uh, 48, I got 48th in the first, first one, one like three grand.
36:00And so I decided to max it the next year had awful results.
36:04Just that's all. Cause that's all I drafted. That's all I worried about.
36:08Didn't worry about no other contests. That's also when UD was kind of small still, and they didn't have a ton of offering like they do now.
36:15Um, so that's why I like to play the time boxes more.
36:19Now, uh, the puppies, the, the kind of smaller stuff they put out, because I do want to feel like I can
36:25draft with my edge on my player takes and really, you know, like I said, rely on my conviction for one.
36:31And also just what, who I think is going to be beating the market, uh, later on down the road.
36:37I love it. Yeah. And, uh, you know, those, those time boxes that you're talking about, it, it, it, it tends to
36:43be a little bit easier to hang. Uh, you know, the, the BBM, you, especially if you get anywhere close to max
36:49entering, you, you've really almost got to get lightning to strike to, you know, to get to pay off.
36:55Yeah. And, uh, you know, with these, with these smaller contests, a lot of times, uh, the payout structure is a little
37:01bit different and you can, you know, it, even if you don't, uh, get into that final week, you know, you, you can still come out pretty good.
37:09I had in best ball two years ago, last year.
37:12I had a rough turnout year before. I think I had my best year.
37:16I think I won like 3,500. I got 11th in the puppy.
37:19Um, but that's what, what I started to do was I just started to play.
37:23I told myself, I wanted to get 40 to 50 entries in every puppy.
37:27I wanted to try to max all the 20 maxes, the eight maxes.
37:31I wanted to try to get all of that volume in the smaller contest and just kind of let the cards fall where they may.
37:38Um, that's what I did that year. I had the best year I've had last year.
37:43I had a rough year, but what we talked about earlier, I was actually overdrafting because I said, Oh, I want to get it.
37:50I want to do 700 grass. You know, I want to get to a number of drafts where this year I maybe
37:56had, I'm maybe at 300 right now. And I'm just drafting now whenever I want to draft, like trying to feel like
38:02drafting and I have the focus and my mind is like, Hey, I want to draft.
38:07Then I go draft, not just, Hey, I need to get in this draft because I need to get five today.
38:13So that, that is so sharp, Sean. I, I mean, that's just the way you got to do it.
38:18You know, you gotta, you gotta recognize when you're in the zone on drafting and you know, if your mind's on other things, they're probably draft intentionally, right?
38:26Yeah. Go take care of those other things so that when you are, ready to draft, your mind isn't on those things.
38:32There you go. There you go. All right. A couple of questions from the, uh, from the audience here.
38:38We've got, uh, naughty 46, 62. What round are you willing to make a wild selection?

39:16So I went on to better help to try to look for a therapist to help me with that.
39:22My relationship with my family and with my boyfriend and with myself were suffering.
39:26I really needed help. I was ruminating a lot.
39:28Really getting those thoughts out to a therapist and getting feedback was just life changing.
39:33Discover what better help online therapy can do for you.
39:35Visit better help.com today. I think it's just, you know, mainly the hottest players at the time.
39:40You know, I, again, I'm on X pretty religiously.
39:43I would say probably more than I should be.
39:45I see, you know, players that people are talking.
39:48I follow a lot of sharp people, obviously, Dan, and a lot of your friends and a lot of the people in the space.
39:55And I see who they're talking about a lot.
39:57Like, so I know who the hot, you know, I know who the ETRs are pushing at the moment.
40:03I know who, you know, Pat Corain's leg up is pushing at the moment.
40:07But so I'm watching that, you know, and I'm keeping track of who those guys are.
40:11And obviously, if I'm on them as well, yeah, I'm going to be looking to see where they're going at in those drafts.
40:18And I'm going to say, okay, well, they're going five picks earlier than in ADP on average.
40:23And I'll say, you know what? If I want to get some of that guy, I'm going to have to start taking him there.
40:29So it just depends on who those guys are, the big movers.
40:33And it also depends on the cost. Like, there are times where the cost just doesn't designate me wanting to select them
40:39anymore if they're going to be going that much earlier.
40:42Yeah. That's, you know, you've got to have a cap on what you think every player is worth.
40:47And when they hit that cap, you know, you've got to, you know, put down the crack pipe, so to speak.
40:53You know, cost matters. Cost matters. It does, without a doubt.
40:56And, you know, let somebody else take them. Because I find a lot of times, too, you know, players will have temporary
41:03little blowups because they're all the rage on X and everybody's talking about them.
41:06And all of a sudden, they're two rounds higher.
41:09And then you look a couple weeks later, and behold, they're pretty much right back to where they were.
41:14So if you can just kind of, you know, hold off from drafting those guys when the steam is the frothiest, you'll generally do better.
41:22Then one more here. How should we approach Brandon Ayuk?
41:24If he gets traded cut, how high can he go?
41:27Well, Dan, I mean, I don't know your thoughts on Ayuk.
41:30I don't have much. I think he's kind of a basket case.
41:34I don't think he's a good locker room guy.
41:36I don't like, you know, I haven't seen him catch a football, and I couldn't tell you how long.
41:42You know, it's been over, you know, two or three years since he's even been on the field, like, and actually in a real game.
41:49I know, obviously, he's fully back from the injury.
41:51I know all this stuff that's playing out with the Niners and them holding him, you know, holding him kidnapped right now, whatever you want to call it.
41:59I just, I don't know. I think the best case is that he goes to the commanders.
42:04That's where everybody feels like he's going to go.
42:07I feel like if he does go to the commanders, he could easily be something.
42:11But I'm wondering if that's even the case, and also if he's even used like we feel like he's going to be used.
42:18I don't know. I have too many questions, I guess I should say, around him.
42:22And for that reason, I'm not going to say I'm out, but I'm not really drafting him, and he's not really a priority target of mine.
42:29Okay. Yeah, I'm taking him here and there. You know, I have the same concerns about, you know, his mental state that you do.
42:36You know, I just, you know, every time I draft him, I feel like I'm picking up a rattlesnake, you know.
42:42I want to be real careful when I do it.
42:45No, that's true. That's true. I mean, we don't, like again, I mean, I guess it's more of the uncertainty that we just, I don't know.
42:52I mean, I know we got the video today where he stepped on the scale.
42:57He was 208. Okay. I mean, you look like you're in shape.
43:00That's good. Have you done any football activities lately?
43:03I mean, are you practicing? Are you, you know, I know Justin Hersey put out a post yesterday or the day before
43:09and said, you know, it's all good that we see you on video, but like, can you do one with you on the field maybe?
43:16Like, show us that you're into the football mode.
43:19Like, he was totally checked out. And I get like the external factors or I guess, you know, with the way it was with the Niners.
43:26They did pay him though. So, I don't really understand why he's, you know, I understand they might have did him a little wrong.
43:33I've heard that ownership of the Niners can be a little, you know, a little unforgiving.
43:37But at the same time, it's like, you know, you got paid.
43:41You got paid. They paid you. They wanted you to play.
43:44And then you kind of just, you know, kind of deep it out on them and started being your own guy.
43:50You know, some of the videos that he's posted is just really weird.
43:54His IG lives. Again, I don't know what, I don't know how to feel about it.
43:58Yeah. And that's fair. But, you know, I guess to answer the question, if he gets traded or cut, how high can he get?
44:05I mean, I think if he signs with the commanders or something like that, you know, we're going to see him bust
44:11up into the, you know, the low single digit or the high single digit rounds.
44:15You know, I think he could be going around eight, nine pretty quickly and easily because I think, you know, everybody's going
44:22to look at what he's done in the past and, oh, here's a team with a real need.
44:27And, you know, it's going to get frothy real quick.
44:30Now, he might jump up to that point and then he might, you know, drop back a little bit.
44:35So, you know, if he jumps up to that point, I'm probably not going to be taking any shares, even though that's probably about as good of a...
44:43I was going to say, if he goes up that far, yeah, there's, I'll probably have zero percent.
44:48I mean, I could see him in maybe the 11th or 12th being a wide receiver four or wide receiver five at best.
44:55You know, there's really nothing to say that Antonio Williams doesn't beat him out for that row anyway.
45:00Like, I don't know. It's, there's, again, just too many questions for me.
45:04Right. Exactly. Yep. Makes sense. So, well, I want to make sure we also get into some players and all that as well.
45:10You know, because there's a, there's a lot of discussion out on Twitter, you know, that some of these are going to
45:16be, you know, they've sort of been beat to death a little bit.
45:20But on the other hand, you know, it's always good to see where, where somebody stands on players.
45:25You know, and one situation is the Jaguars. We know that, you know, there's, well, really two situations.
45:30I mean, Bayshall Tootin and Chris Rodriguez, and then Parker Washington, Brian Thomas Jr.
45:34You know, I think both of those are really, really interesting situations.
45:38One of them, you know, the Tootin versus Rodriguez, we're looking at very different points in the draft.
45:43Whereas Washington and BTJ, we're looking at very similar spots in the draft.
45:47You know, and I know you're a Rodriguez guy.
45:49I tend to be a little bit more of a Tootin guy, but you know, what's, what's, what's your thought process on Rodriguez?
45:56I'll give you my thought process on Tootin, but I'm, I'm just curious to get that out there.
46:01You know, the spot, you know, I, I know everybody wants to use that.
46:05He was, you know, already in a Liam Cohen offense way back in Kentucky.
46:09I try not to use that as kind of a reference point.
46:12I don't think that matters all that much now.
46:15I do think that, yeah, of course, Liam Cohen does like him.
46:18He flat out wanted him on his team. I do think with the report here recently that JK Dobbins was nearly signed.
46:24I think that tip that just goes on and reiterates the point that they do not want to hand over the full reins to, to Bayshel Tootin.
46:32I mean, I, I don't know what else that tells you if they were fluidly looking for another back that does the early down work.
46:39That's what JK Dobbins does. That's what Chris Rodriguez does.
46:42They're both really good in that role. So to me, it just seemed like that reiterated the point again, that they don't
46:48really want, they don't trust Bayshel Tootin to take over the whole 65% workload.
46:52That's what I thought when they, when they signed Chris Rodriguez, obviously we didn't know about the injury.
46:57I think we kind of got a little bit of whamboozled on that.
47:01I will say we, you know, kind of got our legs shook a little bit on that one.
47:06I wasn't very happy to hear about that. You know, the same thing that's going on with RJ Harvey with that, you
47:13know, the NFL just hiding that, you know, kind of keeping it under wraps for such a long period of time.
47:18With that being said, though, I do think that things are going to change.
47:22Chris Rodriguez said to be a full go for camp.
47:25I think once we get into camp, we're going to see exactly how this is going to play out.
47:31Yeah. I think if you're fading anybody because they're not participating in mini camp, you're doing it wrong.
47:36You know, coaches are going to be very, very cautious in mini camp.
47:40Heck, they'll be very, very cautious in training camp and preseason games as well.
47:44You know, if they, if they know what a player can do, they're not going to put them out there and, and
47:50expose them to injury, especially if they're, they're recovering from one right now.
47:53Exactly. It's best to let them get fully recovered.
47:56And it, you know, I, I can't, I see where you're coming from on Rodriguez and I definitely have some shares of
48:02Rodriguez, but I'm also taking some tooting too, because I do think that you've got, you know, if there's a guy who's
48:09got a high ceiling, it's probably tooting because he can catch passes better than Rodriguez.
48:13I mean, Rodriguez, you know, he's a zero in the passing game.
48:16Yeah. At least he has been to this point.
48:19You know, we've gotten the obligatory quotes about, well, you know, there's no reason why he can't.
48:24Every time I hear there's no reason why he can't, I'm like, well, why hasn't he?
48:28You know, that's true. That's true. And, but, but tooting is one of those guys that, you know what, if, if there
48:34is an injury to Rodriguez that does keep him out for part of the season, I think.
48:39Tooting immediately becomes super viable. Or if Rodriguez is ineffective in any way, if LaQuint Allen is ineffective in any way, I
48:46mean, Tooting's kind of got that all purpose skill set and he is super fast.
48:50I just, explosive players always excite me. I always want to make sure I have some of explosive players as long as they don't get too, too expensive.
48:58And, and, and Tooting is on the border of that.
49:01I'll give you that. I think he's, he's close to being too expensive, but you know, I'd rather have Tooting than Travion Henderson, for example.
49:08And I was going to bring up that comparison because it's such a good example.
49:12And I'm not trying to say that Chris Rodriguez is equal to Ramondre because I think we saw just how good Ramondre is.
49:19And we're, you know, not a lot of people believe that.
49:22But, you know, at the same time, we don't, we haven't seen Chris Rodriguez on any other team.
49:27You know, this team could be way more better fit for what he does.
49:31Liam Cohen, again, coached him in Kentucky. You know, he's familiar with what Liam Cohen kind of wants to do.
49:37And again, I got, I got to go back to the money part again, because I hate to say it, but you
49:43know, Chris Rodriguez is getting paid more than like 70% of the running back free agency whole pool.
49:48I mean, you know, he signed for good money.
49:50He didn't just sign, you know, he didn't do a 2 million Rashad White here.
49:55So, you know, he signed for a big chunk of money.
49:58I felt like it was, you know, I follow John Shipley, who's the big reporter for the Jags.
50:03He's been floating, he's been flying around lately, because obviously all the news and all the reports.
50:08But, you know, I even quote tweeted one of his reports from whenever we, before we knew about the Chris Rodriguez injury.
50:14And he said how he thought that the backfield would go was that Chris Rodriguez would lead the team in carrots, but not by much.
50:21I'm still very much under the presumption that they want Chris Rodriguez to be the early down back.
50:26I'm still very much under the presumption that they want him to be able to guy that's getting, you know, I know
50:33that the OC said, well, they, he speaks second and seven or something.
50:36You know, I know that's funny and we all laugh about it, but I mean, you know, you want guys who get positive yardage.
50:43If you look at the stats for Chris Rodriguez, he was one of the, one of the better backs in that, in that category.
50:50He's not going to be explosive. Like you said, he's not going to catch passes, but that's what LaQuint Allen is for.
50:56He's literally was drafted to be the third down back.
50:59I think he is going to absolutely take a lot of that work.
51:03Well, I'll say a lot. He probably won't take a lot of it from Tootin, but he's going to cap Tootin's ceiling
51:09a little bit on the, on the pass. He's going to definitely be involved on third downs.
51:14He'll definitely be involved in the two minute offense.
51:16There's no doubt about that because, you know, he is a good blocker.
51:20He is a good receiver. You know, no question.
51:23I think probably the difference is I see explosives, right?
51:26Yeah. And I think probably the difference is I see Tootin as being the kind of the guy who can get you
51:32the lead and Rodriguez as being the guy who consulted away.
51:35And, you know, both of those roles can be very, very valuable on a team.
51:39So yeah, yeah, it's a, it's a fun one.
51:42Let's make this one real quick. Cause I, there are a couple of more I definitely want to get to before we
51:48get out of here, but Parker Washington or Brian Thomas Jr.
51:51Do you have a clear favorite or are you just trying to get a little bit of both?
51:56I've gotten a little bit of both, but I've been hammering out Parker Washington lately just because I feel like he, the
52:03way that they're integrating him in the offense now and you know, I'm not sold.
52:07I know that BT BTJ is stacking up some good OTA practices.
52:10I'm that I'm happy for him. I really am.
52:13But until I can see Trevor do that in a real game and make those long throws, that's going to make BTJ
52:19actually be a highly viable ceiling play. Like everybody is expecting him to be with his route tree because he's not doing the intermediate stuff.
52:26He's not doing the short routes, the slant routes.
52:29He's doing the long balls. And that's been, it's been talked about already.
52:32I mean, yes, Trevor can absolutely take that next step and compete those, complete those long balls, but he's going to have to have that.
52:40So for me, it's Parker Washington. I feel like he's going to be the guy that's going to be the first read.
52:46I just feel like he could easily do, you know, they've talked about him immensely going out into last year.
52:51I feel like it's only going to increase his role and I feel like he's going to be an absolute smash.
52:57Yeah. I think Parker Washington is the safe one for me.
53:01Uh, BTJ is kind of the FOMO player. Um, I'm a little bit afraid of missing out if he, you know, cause I know what his abilities are.
53:09We saw him as a rookie. Uh, the question is, is, you know, as you said, can, uh, can Lawrence and BTJ
53:15get that connection going during this season? It's one thing to do it in a 11 on 11s and, you know, you
53:21know, everybody's kind of going at three quarter speed and, you know, now all of a sudden when the live bullets are
53:27flying, it can be a different thing. And it, you know, just to make one quick more point, it kind of tans
53:34my heart a little bit when people only want to bring up, you know, his full rookie stats on Matt Jones was the one who propped him up.
53:42It was not, it was not Trevor Lawrence. So I wanted to end on that note.
53:46And a lot of people just don't, they leave out that context and it's like, you're, you're totally leaving out 70% of the equation.
53:53I mean, so yeah, again, fair, fair enough. All right.
53:56So, uh, Vikings running backs, are you in on, uh, Jordan Mason or Aaron Jones?
54:00Uh, you like Claiborne late or are you just totally fading this backfield?
54:04I think at this point now where I was taking some Aaron Jones, uh, I'm taking Mason now.
54:09Uh, I feel like Claiborne is, uh, the, the, the air to the Aaron Jones role, uh, being more of a pass catching change of pace.
54:16Uh, I think Jordan Mason could go for 10 touchdowns this year or more.
54:20Um, I feel like he's going to finally be the back that KLC wanted him to be when he brought him in.
54:27I know he had a tough year last year.
54:29The offense was, was not good. Um, dealing with multiple quarterbacks all year long, there was no consistency at the quarterback spot,
54:35really hard to be able to have a good run game whenever you don't have that.
54:40Um, so I'm hoping with Kyler coming in, you know, I feel like Kyler can make the offense work.
54:45Um, and I like Jordan Mason. They, you know, again, Claiborne was just a six round, you know, running back draft, you know, draft pick.
54:52So I don't feel like he's going to make just a huge impact unless Aaron Jones gets hurt.
54:58But I feel like Jordan Mason's probably going to lead the backfield with touches, uh, snap percentage.
55:02Uh, and I feel like he'll lead it in touchdowns easily.
55:06Yeah. I think that's what the Vikings want. I think they want to, you know, use Aaron Jones judiciously and try to keep him healthy.
55:13Uh, you know, and in a back, like Jordan Mason really needs that passing game working, uh, to take some of the
55:19pressure off the run game, because when you don't respect the passing game, uh, you know, it's easy to collapse down and,
55:25and fill holes and it just makes it hard.
55:28And also you're just not scoring as many touchdowns if you can't keep the offense going, you know, if the offense keeps
55:34going three and out, or maybe they get one first down and then now they're, you know, they're punting on their second,
55:40uh, possession or their second, uh, set of down.
55:43No continuity. Yeah. Yeah. There's just no continuity. And, you know, you just end up with a lot fewer, uh, touches, uh, for everybody in the offense.
55:51Absolutely. Yeah. Totally agree. And then Claiborne, um, he's somebody I'm taking, you know, if I'm looking for, you know, like a
55:57second Viking on a, you know, to a stack or something like that, you know, very late.
56:02Uh, but I'm not taking him unless I think there's probably some correlation going on there because like you said, he's a six round pick.
56:09I mean, for all I know, Xavier Scott could end up, uh, you know, being the guy behind Aaron Jones this year.
56:15And Claiborne is just kind of a, uh, you know, red shirting a little bit.
56:19Yeah. You gotta, you gotta give a little bit to the Aaron Jones competent to Jameer Gibbs speed wise.
56:25And it's like, okay, let's tone it down just a little bit here.
56:28Let's pump the brakes. But no, I mean, I am, I am taking him in the 18th.
56:33Uh, I have taken him quite a bit. I think he is one of those, you know, again, I talked earlier about
56:39trying to balance out the running back spot. So yeah, if I take three good backs that I think are going to
56:46be my early touches is going to be my, you know, kind of my four guys.
56:50I want to try to get a guy like that who can bust along one, you know, that can be a spike week or two.
56:57So those are the kinds of backs that I would be looking for is the fourth or fifth or six running back.
57:04Well, not fourth, but fifth or six more so, uh, in those types of builds.
57:08Yeah, definitely. How about Josh Jacobs? I think that's another interesting situation.
57:11Are you taking Jacobs where he's going in draft right now?
57:14Absolutely. Love him past the forties. I mean, I was a guy that was not really in on him when he was in the mid thirties.
57:22Early thirties. Um, so yeah, I've been buying the dip like crazy, uh, because a lot of the times you can get
57:28a really good back, like a Ashton Jenty or, uh, you know, uh, Saquon or those guys that are Kenneth Walker even,
57:34and you can come back and get him as a running back too, which is just, you know, obviously fantastic where a
57:41lot of the times when he was going earlier, uh, before all the news, obviously I was usually going and trying to
57:47get a wide receiver at that spot. So yeah, I've definitely been trying to get as much as I can at that
57:5340 to 44 spot that he's been going recently.
57:56Yeah. I'm, I'm with you there because I mean, to me, he's sort of like a discount James Cook.
58:01He's not going to do a lot for you in the passing game.
58:05Yeah. Uh, but he is going to get a ton of touches, you know, running the ball.
58:10Uh, this is a good team. That's going to be scoring a lot of touchdowns.
58:14Um, you know, and Jacobs is a good guy around the goal line as is James Cook, you know, so if I
58:20can get James Cook, uh, you know, in the fourth round or something, you know, 90%, 80% of James Cook, I'm probably
58:26going to just going to go ahead and do that.
58:29You know, so Jacobs is one of those non-sexy picks.
58:32The only thing I've got to worry about is his legal issues.
58:36It kind of sounds like that's more likely to hit next year than this year if it hits at all.
58:41Um, so, you know, and I, so I think we're kind of getting a little bit of a gift here on ADP.
58:48So I'm going to take advantage of it as best I can.
58:51I agree. I agree. And I mean, he's not a total zero in the pass game either.
58:56I mean, he's caught 35 balls, you know, and that's, yeah, he is actually a very good receiver.
59:01Um, as is James Cook. It's just, they, the team does not choose not to, which I will say they did use
59:07Jacobs a lot more this past year. They did use him a lot more than he has been used in prior years.
59:13So, which I mean, he's only been with the Packers for two years, but last year he definitely was used more in the pass again.
59:21Yeah. Without a doubt. Without a doubt. All right.
59:23So we, we, we kind of teased it already, uh, today, but we got to talk a little David Montgomery.
59:29Um, is he, is he going to push some buttons with that one?
59:33He seemed like, I mean, and that's, that's what I like, you know, a good hot button issue, you know?
59:38So, uh, is he a classic dead zone running back or is he going to age like fine wine?
59:44I mean, I know where you're standing, but, uh, you know, let the audience know what, uh, what do you think?
59:50So first off, let me preface that. I think I've worded the very first post very badly, which I tend to do that a lot.
59:57So that's, that's my fault because I'm the type that I, I just type out what I think and, you know, I hit send.
60:04Um, a lot of the times it doesn't sound the way I want it to sound in my head and people take it the other way.
60:11Uh, so I've tried to make that follow-up post where I was like, I was referring to the flashback of a dead zone running back.
60:18I wasn't saying David Montgomery is the mirror. Which everybody thought that I said, which again, I apologize for that because it was worded very poorly.
60:25Um, what I was trying to refer to was that those guys like Alexander Madison, the mirror why that we're both going
60:32into the season being the, you know, being the workhorse running back.
60:35You know, I get that David Montgomery has been a lead back before, but he's also lost it twice.
60:41He's, he's lost his lead role twice. He did it in Chicago to a little Herbert, Roshon Johnson, whoever was, you know, next in line there.
60:48They, they decided to let him go to Detroit, Detroit drafted Jameer Gibbs.
60:52He did push, you know, the, the little bit of the, the committee for a couple of years.
60:57Needless to say, he was not the lead back.
60:59Again. Um, so to me, I get it. I'm not saying David Montgomery is bad.
61:04I'm saying that he's going to a team that did not have a great offense last year.
61:08Nick Chubb. My, he probably is dust. I mean, let's just say that he was dust.
61:13Um, but you know, he couldn't do anything. Uh, Woody Marks, a rookie.
61:17You know, the O-line was just horrible. I get that they pretty much gotten rid of every single O-line that they had
61:23last year and they tried to upgrade it. That's great.
61:26Um, however, I still have to see the O-C.
61:28You know, they, they got rid of their O-C mid season.
61:31I gotta make, I just gotta see. I gotta, I don't.
61:35He's also going at pick 49, which to me is going after Kim Scadabo.
61:39And he's going before Travion Henderson. Two of those guys.
61:41And I'm not a big Scadabo guy right now.
61:44Cause I'm still, I'm still iffy. I'm, I'm starting to take a little bit more because now I'm starting to see in
61:50practice, but I'm taking both of those guys at this point.
61:53Right now I'm taking both of those guys over David Montgomery because I feel like the Montgomery is a total floor pick.
62:00And I feel like there could be disappointment there if a, the O-line is not much improved.
62:05Um, and B, if Monty just is not as good at age 29, as we thought that he has been whenever, you
62:11know, everybody wanted to bring up the Bears years.
62:13Like, well, that's seven years ago. You know, he's not 23 anymore.
62:17He's 29 now. Um, so again, I feel like, you know, he is kind of a, in a, he's a Nick Chubb
62:23light, but he's not nearly what Nick Chubb was.
62:26Um, everybody wanted to bring up the Joe Mixon thing.
62:28I think Joe Mixon was a lot better back than, than David Montgomery was in his prime.
62:33Um, so I just feel like, again, I feel like his price is too high.
62:38That's the main thing for me, but I also feel like he absolutely fits that definition of a, of a dead zone running back.
62:44Like he, he's going in that spot where there's a lot of other backs around him that I feel like just have
62:51way better outlooks on way better offenses. Uh, and people are just destined to believe that he's just going to get this
62:57absolutely massive workload, which volume is king. We say that all the time, but it also can, can also not be a
63:03very good thing in the very end. If he gets hurt, um, if he just, it's not good anymore.
63:09I mean, so again, that's kind of where I was going with that post.
63:13Uh, I've been out on David Montgomery since his price rose, you know, since he joined Houston, I've kind of not really taken much of him at all.
63:20Okay. I'm, I'm a little bit on the other side.
63:23Um, I, what I like about Montgomery is the fact that he, you know, while he is a dead zone running back
63:30and I agree with you, he's a classic dead zone running back.
63:33Uh, but that doesn't necessarily mean that he's dead.
63:36Um, you know, there are dead zone running backs who do, you know, overcome that.
63:40And, you know, even if they are a class, you know, that classic older guy, you know, that we're taking them because,
63:46well, he fits and these are the touches and, you know, all of that.
63:50And some of them do pan out. And it, you know, to me, Montgomery seems a little bit more like one that's
63:56likely to pan out than not pan out because I, I do think that he's a solid runner.
64:01I mean, we saw what he did in Detroit.
64:04Um, you know, Jameer Gibbs, obviously the better running back.
64:07Nobody's questioning that, you know, so it's no, no surprise that Montgomery got, you know, eventually shoved back and then, uh, you
64:13know, they let him go to another team. But what I do like about Houston is they're going to be playing with a lot of leads.
64:21I don't think their offense is going to be super prolific, but I do think that they are going to rely on the running game a lot.
64:28You know, I see a lot of running back touches.
64:31Um, I was in on Woody Marks last year cause I was out on Chubb this year.
64:36I'm still in on Woody Marks, but you know, it's, it's like when I look at David Montgomery versus Chubb, you know,
64:42to me, the Montgomery that's coming to Houston versus the Chubb that came to Houston last year, this Montgomery is a lot better than that Chubb was.
64:50I think it's closer to Mixon. I'm not going to call him Joe Mixon.
64:54Um, you know, I don't know. Even without the foot.
64:57Yeah. I will not go that far, but you know, it basically what I look at is, you know, okay.
65:02If, if, uh, Montgomery stays healthy, I think he's pretty much a lock for a thousand yards.
65:07I think he's pretty much probably a lock for, I don't know, 30 catches, something like that.
65:12I mean, they will use him in the passing game as a dump off because they don't want to always put in
65:18Woody Marks because that's kind of a tell because we know Mark isn't a great rusher.
65:23Um, I think, you know, there's a very good chance that if he's healthy all year, he was probably scoring 10 touchdowns.
65:29That was going to be my question because I did want to see where your projection was going to be for him.
65:35You know, he's never scored more than eight, right?
65:38I do. Okay. But also he has not been on teams that are as good at, as Houston is with as good a defense.
65:45The offense was not that great last year though.
65:47Well, okay. Yeah. Detroit, but you know, Detroit, he's sharing with Gibbs.
65:51So you gotta, you gotta. Uncertain O-line. I mean, again, you know, yeah.
65:54There's a lot of things where. Uncertain O-line is a little bit of an issue too, but Montgomery is somebody that I
66:01think, you know, there's enough there that I'm willing to, to buy in.
66:04You know, I'm not going to be like super overweight, but I'm, I'm taking some for sure.
66:09I mean, I just see a realm where he ends up with like seven to 800 rush yards and I don't think he catches 30 balls.
66:17I think he could maybe catch 20 and I don't think he maybe gets more than six to eight touchdowns.
66:22I mean, I think that's probably more median. Um, but I don't really see this for me.
66:27I don't really see the big ceiling case. I think he's more of a foreplay.
66:31And at that spot, I'm not looking for a foreplay, a floor play, uh, at pick 50.
66:36I mean, I'm, I'm looking for a running back that's going to lead my team.
66:41Um, so right for me, it's again, it's, it's more of a cost thing, but that's also why the reasoning after I
66:47start factoring in and doing the deeper dives, the uncertain O-line, he's never had more than, you know, eight touchdowns.
66:53I think he could easily probably get to eight, 900 rush yards, but I'm just more worried that he's not going to get the touchdowns then.
67:00And it's more of that offense is going to control the clock, run the clock.
67:04Um, you're just going to get a lot of three or four yard carries, you know, he's, he's ending up with 16
67:10carries for 60 yards a game and might get a touchdown, you know, every game or every game, other game, something like that.
67:17You know, that's just, that's kind of the way I see it, uh, in my, in my head, at least.
67:23Well, on the touchdowns, you're right outside of Detroit, he has not gotten over eight, but at Detroit, he got 12 and 13.
67:29So it, you know, and that was when he was 23, 22, 23 years old too.
67:34But yeah, that was, that was just a couple of years ago.
67:37Uh, oh, it's like, you said Chicago, you said Detroit.
67:40Gotcha. Yeah. Detroit. Which again, a lot better, a lot better O-line, a lot better O-line scoring those touchdowns.
67:45So I think he's, you know, I don't think he's a bad touchdown scorer.
67:49And I think if you're a good touch, you know, I think he's good at, you know, short yardage.
67:55And I think if you're good at short yardage, then Houston is a place where you're going to get some short yardage
68:01goal line looks, you know, on an average year.
68:04I mean, there's always variants. Uh, you know, we've all seen those, those years where the running back gets a ton of
68:10touchdowns because the wide receivers get, keep getting hauled down at the one or two yard line.
68:15And that's true. That's true. Those years where those, those plays are constantly going into the end zone.
68:20And, you know, you're sitting there holding that running back going, my guy never gets any short yardage opportunities.
68:25You know, so. Tackled at the one. Yeah. Yep.
68:28Exactly. But I mean, and also I do think Woody Marks has a, I think he has a 30 to 35% role on this offense too.
68:35I do think he's going to take away a lot of the passing game.
68:39Um, I do think they're going to try to use him in some more pass advantageous spots, uh, where Monty's going to come off the field.
68:47So, yeah, I mean, I think we're, everybody's really banking on the fact that they're going to be ahead of, they're going
68:53to be ahead a lot and they're banking that defense is going to shut out the other team.
68:58And then they're banking on basically the touchdowns. So again, a lot, a lot to bank on for pick 49 for me, I feel like.
69:05Fair enough. Fair enough. All right. Well, we probably should work on getting you out of here.
69:10We're, uh, we're a little bit over an hour already.
69:13Uh, but, uh, give me a couple of favorite, uh, targets the last couple of rounds for whatever reason, you know, uh,
69:19some players you just like, uh, clicking on. So a lot of the, you know, I've said it many times and you
69:25can still widely get them any of the Miami wide receivers, uh, Tober, uh, you know, the, the guy, uh, she, you
69:32know, I said Tober, but Caleb Douglas, um, Malik Washington, Malik Washington.
69:35I was trying to think of the other one that went to Louisville and I can't think of his name right now.
69:41Oh, uh, Chris Bell. Bell. Yeah. I can't, I say Chris Brooks.
69:45I was like, it's not Chris Brooks. It's Chris, it's Bell.
69:48Yeah. Him, but I know he's going to start, you know, the season on, you know, he's, he's not practicing.
69:54Um, so yeah, I mean, I'm taking a lot of those guys right now.
69:58I'm taking, uh, to a couple of the Baltimore wide, you know, Elijah Surratt and Jacoby Lane.
70:02I think those guys come up late in the season.
70:05Um, I'm taking, um, you know, again, we talked about Claiborne.
70:08Uh, I think the two San Francisco 49er running backs are, are pretty good bets.
70:13One of them is going to emerge as the two.
70:15And we, we know CMC's history and he just had over 370 plus touches last year.
70:20Um, but yeah, other than that, uh, you know, I'm taking the, some of the New York Giants, Darnell Mooney, uh, Malachi Fields.
70:27Um, I feel like one of the two of those guys is probably going to have some early, early and could be all year, uh, production.
70:34Uh, but that's a few of the ones that I'm targeting at the current moment.
70:38Love it. Love it. That's great. I like a little Marshawn Lloyd has been going late.
70:43People are still scared of, uh, the injuries. I am terrified.
70:46I'm petrified. I'm petrified, but again, with Jacobs's issues and I'm never taking them on the same team as Jacobs to, you know, but I, I, I will.
70:54I'll take him from time to time. Uh, I'll take George Helani.
70:57Yeah, there you go. George Helani. I know that's a big one for you.
71:01A.D. Mitchell, uh, one of my favorites. I like Rashad Bateman a lot.
71:05Um, you know. Not one I've clicked yet. You haven't clicked that one, huh?
71:09Yeah. I think if, uh, Mark Andrews can't step up, I think it's going to have to be Bateman.
71:14I mean, I know they got some rookie wide receivers and all that, but, uh.
71:19Surratt's getting a lot of, a lot of hype right now.
71:22Yeah. I, and I do like Surratt. He's a, he's a fun late click too.
71:26Um, so Terrence Ferguson, David Njoku, those are kind of some fun, uh, some fun clicks at tight end, but yeah, a
71:32lot of, a lot of fun ones we can do.
71:35All right, Sean. Well, I, I appreciate you joining me today.
71:38Uh, it's been a lot of fun. Very insightful.
71:41I've enjoyed getting to know you a little bit better.
71:44Uh, I appreciate you having me, man. Oh, absolutely.
71:46Remind people once again, uh, what your X handle is.
71:49Yeah. It's at S Mitchell one seven. So at S Mitchell one seven on X, uh, like you go ahead, get on there.
71:56You'll, I'm sure you'll find a post that you can argue with.
71:59Uh, you know, I try to, you know, I try to say that too.
72:03You know, you know, I know a lot of people are probably following the tout show right now.
72:08Um, you know, if you're going to talk football, make it entertaining, you know, try to have some fun.
72:14Uh, that's what I try to do. I don't, I'm not going to be that guy that just sits there and just
72:20spits out stats after stats, after stats. You know, I like to have a little fun with it.
72:25You know, it's, if it's not, it's, it's boring.
72:28So anyway, but that's kind of the way I wanted to put with the, with the Twitter.
72:32I know a lot of people like to give me, give me some stuff and, uh, but yeah, you've got to have
72:39a little entertainment in there as well. Okay. Got to have a thick skin too.
72:43So, and you know, you've got that. So that's one thing I appreciate is, uh, you know, you can dish it and
72:49you can take it out and take it back.
72:52So it's all good there. And, uh, for the audience, thanks a lot for watching or listening.
