0:00Welcome to the Legendary Upside podcast and YouTube channel. My name is Pat Karrain. Follow all my content at legendaryupside.com. With me today, Greg
0:07Branos for our legendary Coach Speak Pod. Greg, how's it going, >> Pat? I'm simply buzzing right now. I'm I'm I'm riding the only high that you
0:16can get when Pat McAfee drops a new music album.
0:21>> Oh god, have not been able to sleep this entire weekend. Just been bumping this thing on repeat, bro.
0:29>> [laughter] >> How's that how's that been treating you?
0:32>> Listen, I always wondered what would it be like? What would it sound like if God recorded an album? And I think we
0:38finally have our answer.
0:42When that first note hits on that first track, you forget names like Ray Charles, >> Bob Dylan, Amy Winehouse, like they go
0:52from legends to just names, just an assortment [laughter] of letters on a piece of paper. That's like, yeah, that's a name, I guess.
1:00>> Do you think like when kids are listening to music 20 years from now, we're going to be like, they don't
1:06understand that that's really just Pat McAfee's influence that they don't they don't appreciate the greats.
1:13>> The Pat McAfee music tree. [laughter] >> Yeah. From the previous generation.
1:20>> I can't wait to hear this album on the oldie station, the classic hit station in 30 years from now.
1:28Oh my god. [laughter] I think that would I don't think I would be able to handle that. I think I would I would really
1:36struggle to live in that world.
1:41>> Oh man. All right.
1:42>> Yeah. We got we got we got Tay and and and Kanye popularizing autotune, >> you know, a decade or so ago. And now
1:50now we got McAfee popularizing autotune out. [laughter] >> Oh man. Uh, all right. We got a we got some good coach speak. Oh, yeah. To dive
2:00into today. Um, I uh I put on the thumbnail committee running backs question mark because there's some stuff on potential committee running backs.
2:11Uh, but not in Miami. Miami, we're not getting committee running back talk.
2:16We're we're getting something entirely different. What are >> Yeah.
2:21>> What are we hearing there?
2:21>> It's a It's a committee of one, >> right?
2:25>> It's not a tribunal. It's one judge sitting up on like a very very high, you know, sometimes you'll get a judge
2:31that's like way elevated, kind of like the Supreme Court. That's that's what we're getting here. Uh we got head coach Jeff Hafley
2:40on August 10th on an interview on the Rich Eisen show saying, "I think Devon Chan is one of the top backs in the
2:49league. he probably probably doesn't get as much credit as he deserves, not only running the football, but as a guy you
2:54can kind of spread out. Then he was asked about the amount of touches that he will allow for Han this year. Halfley
3:02said, "I just told him this morning that he better be in good shape because there might be some games where I have to pick
3:09him up and carry him back into the locker room because he's going to be so tired." I told him, "I don't ever want
3:16to see a head tap all year." And he looked me right in the eye.
3:20>> That's not cool.
3:21>> And said, "You'll never get that head tap from me." I said, "Don't worry, buddy. After you touch the ball 40 45
3:30times, I'm going to have to pick you up and carry you back into the locker room.
3:36I love the guy. You want to talk about about a guy with some juice and a guy starting to become a leader. He's one of
3:42the smarter players. I think he's a stud." And then Halfley in this presser yesterday was asked about using Devon Achan in short yardage versus using a
3:51bigger back. And Halfley said some little guys aren't good in short yardage. I don't view Achan in those situations as such a little back. Last
3:59year I think he had more yards after contact and broke as many tackles as most backs in in the NFL. He's got a low
4:05center of gravity. He's got incredible vision. He can seem to find very small creases. He's got good leverage and he's got a big strong lower body. When you
4:13watch him, he does a really good job of pushing the pile. So, I think it's his vision, his strength in his legs, and
4:19his ability to see small space and get in there that makes him a good short yardage back. I have no issue giving him
4:25the ball in those situations. And Halfley, by the way, uh chewed out Ali Gordon, their their big back on the sideline during their preseason game
4:35against the the Commanders in the same presser. Uh they asked him about that and he said post snap penalties like that are not acceptable to me. It's
4:44disrespectful to the team. It's selfish and it's how you lose games. I'm not going to play play I'm not going to play
4:50players that can't control themselves and get us 15 yard penalties and have us go backwards. That's a big learning lesson. Ali and I had a great
4:58conversation again this morning and hopefully he and our team will learn from it. If you're going to have it standard, there have to be consequences.
5:06So yeah, 40 45 touches per game for Devonte Champ. My god. Yeah, I mean he's uh so much clearly better than than
5:17Gordon in the first place, but then Gordon was also like, you know, just looking at his profile coming in, he is
5:22a big back and sometimes bigger backs are used around the goal line, but he was kind of more of a breakaway runner.
5:28uh he's like a big breakaway runner and not necessarily going to be, you know, that super consistent hammer uh that you
5:38might imagine him to be when you kind of first see him. So, and then Jaylen Wright is also another kind of more boom
5:44bust, like a bigger he's like 215 or something. He's not as big as Gordon. He sort of splits the difference between
5:49Achan and Gordon, but you know, I think another guy's maybe more boom bust as a runner. Um where Achan might actually be
5:56your most consistent back. uh which is unusual but you know they seem to be right that seems to be what they're
6:02saying. So yeah, if we don't have to worry about goal I mean go there's not going to be a lot of goal line
6:07opportunities so we really don't want him getting subbed out there. Uh but I've been I've been working on my legendary running back article the
6:15preliminary stuff where I'm just kind of in in spreadsheets and kind of digging around in the numbers. But uh you know
6:20getting ready to start writing that up and Han popped in the late second round as a guy it's like you know
6:27fundamentally he's an awesome player who catches the ball really well and whose team recognizes is like the focal point of
6:38the whole operation. Like that's really good. That's where a lot of upside comes from. Now, the team
6:47could be atrocious, but they also have a bad defense, right? So, like there could be more play volume here. Like, they
6:54could want to be, you know, playing at like Ravens, Seahawks kind of volume and just unable to. So, you have that
7:01potential for him to to get more receptions than the team would even prefer as part of that 40 touch workload. Uh, but you know, I mean, it's
7:11it's definitely one of those things where as a first round pick, as a late first round pick, even early second, you'd be taking on a lot of risk of this
7:19team just being terrible. In the late second round, I think you're getting, you know, you're sort of being paid to take on that risk a little bit. And I
7:27think the upside is making it a better bet than I even realized before I started doing that research. And and obviously backed up by by talk like
7:34this.
7:34>> Yeah. And and of course, of course, we got Bobby Slowick a few weeks ago saying like, "I'm committed to the run, buddy.
7:41I love to run the ball." And um this the the stuff that Halfley was saying on this in in this Rich Eisen interview,
7:50this is not the normal kind of talk that you get from Jeff Jeff Halfley. He's usually like kind of a >> I thought it's not normal for anyone,
7:58>> but [laughter] the guy for him.
8:00>> No.
8:01>> Yeah. So, so, so him saying and and and and he's been talking up Achan this entire off season. Um, their general
8:10manager, John Eric Sullivan, said uh a couple months ago about how they want to be like the biggest most physical team in the NFL. They go out
8:19and get this 67 gigantic tackle Kaden Proctor from from Alabama. So yeah, it's this entire offense is going to be
8:29centered around Devon Achan as it should be. And like maybe Malik Willis's running ability opens things up a little bit a little bit more and it's not like
8:38the worst offense we've ever seen.
8:42>> Yeah. And part of me too, I don't want to the Willis, he's a mobile guy and they're not going to want to have him
8:50drop back a ton. So that does make me concerned about the target volume for HN. Like it's just going to be hard for
8:58him to get to the same kind of target level that he was at last year with a a mobile quarterback and a low volume
9:05passing game. So that's that's been a big part of it for me. But I do think, you know, he's not going to have as easy
9:12of a time racking up targets as as he would have like in a normal offense with Tua. But I think he can have enough. And
9:20part of that will be if he if he does get there is that they're just designing stuff for him. Like his he's getting
9:28like Malik Willis doesn't have to drop back and check down, you know, at the at the rate of another quarterback cuz he
9:35won't, but he might be literally having first rate targets to Han in addition to screens and stuff. So, you know, if
9:43we're getting like four design touches a game for Han, like that's pretty good, you know, uh assuming he has any kind of
9:52rushing efficiency, which he's an awesome runner. So, um yeah, ju this talk, I think, is somewhat meaningful in that you kind of need them to treat him
10:01like Panthers arrow McAffrey.
10:05What if that's the plan?
10:08>> It sounds like it is. and and they have been talking about using him quite a bit in the past game.
10:14>> Yeah. Um All right. So, that's the the non committee. Uh another guy who's going in the second round might be
10:23dealing with more of a committee certainly than Achan. Better offense, but Amarian Hampton is, you know, potentially dealing with with more
10:31competition for touches than than Achan.
10:34Yeah, this one this one set the internet ablaze with Mike McDaniel on August 10th being asked, "Hey, is O Marian Hampton a
10:44guy who could be a workhorse back or do you see a shared workload or a hot hand backfield?" McDaniel said, "That's good
10:51news and bad news, fantasy owners." He sniffed this out as an obvious fantasy football question. He said the good news >> I don't like that. I don't like him
11:00talking directly to us. It breaks the fourth wall. It's not [laughter] cool.
11:03Yeah, he actually did like a full turn to to a different camera that you see on like late night television.
11:10>> I really don't like it.
11:12>> It freaked me out like when I >> dim the lights. They put a spotlight on them. They gave him like a real
11:17villainous kind of kind of spotlight with this long shadow.
11:21>> Yeah, that's how it feels.
11:22>> He said, "The good news is that I see all three of those guys producing at a very high level. The bad news is that I
11:30can't tell you which games those are.
11:33McDaniel's a baseball bro. Uh I think there's going to be opportunities.
11:37>> He's a veteran baseball coach.
11:39>> Yeah. [laughter] He said I think there's going to be opportunities for him to have a ton of touches. I like to have
11:45backs be fresh, but I'm also not very comfortable to take a guy out when I can tell he's in the zone. So you kind of
11:53play hot hand once you're into games, but specifically I'll use all three of those guys probably every game. The relative ratio will be based on opponent
12:04and what we're asking the guys to do.
12:06And that final part there about like it's going to be it's this relative ratio. I'm not saying that I'm going to
12:12use all three of these guys every game the same amount. That part of course got uh got left off the table from all the
12:20aggregators who were like >> three equal shares for for this for this back. That's not what he was saying and that's not how Mike McDaniel has
12:30operated in the past. I I I I tweeted out um you know on on this day about all these different things that Mike
12:38McDaniel had said in Miami and like what his backfield philosophy is which is we we we hear a lot of um McDaniel saying I
12:48see better than I hear and whoever is most deserving of the ball will get the ball. very much a hot hand kind of uh
12:57play caller. And people think that's not the case because Devon Achan got such a heavy workload, but he got such a heavy
13:05workload because he was by far the hottest hand >> in that backfield. And when when when Han was a rookie and they had Raheem
13:12Moert, they were they were using both of those guys. And McDaniels al also talked about how he likes having different types of back who present different
13:23types of uh tackling angles and and and speed so the defense can't just like get comfortable with okay it's it's it's
13:31this guy we know how to kind of attack them if you're kind of cycling through them uh a little bit then then it kind
13:37of keeps them a little more offkilter.
13:41>> Yeah. I also think the hot hand thing is a little bit of um kind of a copout where he's not nec he just he might not
13:49want to say like this, you know, like Achan was clearly the best guy there >> and he wasn't the hot hand in 2024 in
13:57the sense that he was not running especially efficiently, but he still got over 200 carries uh and had 78
14:04receptions. So he it's it goes beyond the hot hand with McDaniel in my opinion like he is willing to commit to a
14:13running back if that guy is clearly the best running back from a talent perspective. Um and that's been I think the real hope for Hampton is that he
14:24becomes clearly that guy and compared to Videll he is like he's a lot better than Videll. I think the concern is that that
14:33Mitchell is explosive, you know, and if they're going to throw to him more, then that might actually turn out pretty well
14:42and might lead to him being the hot hand in the sense that he's he's not going to go away. I don't think he would be,
14:52>> you know, someone who's going to be able to like take over the backfield. He's a very small back and Hampton can play,
14:58but it does make me concerned with Hampton's price. Uh, and Mitchell continues to rise. So, even though like I'm more interested in Mitchell now than
15:08I was earlier, he just went in the 10th round of a draft I did with Pete. Um, it's a lot to pay. So, it's more the big
15:16thing for me that like I'm doing in drafts right now is moving down Hampton a little bit. I mean, he's it's tougher
15:23to see him getting the true workhorse usage. And his profile is one where he breaks a lot of tackles. He can hit big
15:31plays. He can catch the ball, but he's not like exceptional in anything. Maybe tackle breaking, but as far as like I
15:40mean, you don't get points per broken tackle, right? You get points per yard.
15:43So, uh, you know, is he going to be able to hit enough long plays, just rack up enough receptions as like a an elite
15:51receiver? He's not an elite receiving type of play. He's a good enough. He's more in that kind of Josh Jacobsy type
15:58of mold, I'd say. So, yeah, I I'm a little bit more concerned about Hampton.
16:03Not panicking, but just thinking like this is starting to look more like a two, three turn play than an early second round play.
16:10>> Yeah. see seeing him this entire drafting off season go kind of very close to that one-two turn sometimes ahead of Saquon Barkley,
16:22Ashton Genty, James Cook sometimes. It's pretty pretty wild. I I'm I'm still in the boat of Katon Mitchell is going to
16:32get like eight to 10 touches per game, right?
16:38>> Yeah, that would really hurt. I do I I do think that they are going to use Hampton so much at the goal line. Like
16:45he'll probably be like their exclusive goal line back and Mike McDaniel does love to run the ball when he gets near
16:53the goal line. So it could be a situation where he leads the NFL in rushing touchdowns but like still doesn't pay off this, you know, 14 ADP
17:02that that he has right You're describing Javvante Williams a little bit.
17:06>> You know, not es especially if Katon Mitchell is is getting his touches in the receiving game to some extent.
17:15>> That's when you start to look at a guy, it's like, okay, you don't have a ton of receiving juice, but you've got, you
17:21know, the goal line role, uh, and you're in a great offense. You know, again, like I would take him ahead of
17:28Javvante for sure, but it is you want guys in that range, in that that one two turn range that are going
17:36to nuke. They're going to like destroy leagues. And he has a chance to do that because I don't trust McDaniel. like McDaniel has
17:46been if McDaniel just had Omar and Hampton as like a full-blown workhorse this year with Keith Mitchell kind of mixing in that honestly wouldn't shock
17:54me. I think I think it's possible but uh you know I think it's more likely that that's not what we get and even with
18:04this being a really good offense and him scoring touchdowns that we don't end up viewing him as a good pick where he
18:09where he was priced.
18:11>> Yeah.
18:12>> Yeah. more Josh Jacobs like you said.
18:15Yeah. I mean, I think that that that's a kind of another another com that's kind of like if a guy in this range puts up
18:21like 14 points per game in PPR, that's not good.
18:26>> You know, it doesn't seem like a disaster, but you're you're looking for something more impactful than that.
18:32>> And he is in in in a really great setup if if he were a workhorse because the the type of runner that he is, he's he's
18:38kind of like a full head of steam runner like a like a like a locomotive, right?
18:43like a little bit slow to kind of get going, but then man, just an absolute >> like speed bruiser >> and
18:52>> with as good as their their tackles are and their offensive line and and Charlie Kohler as the inline uh uh tight end,
19:00like that's that's a pretty nice setup.
19:03and and with Mike McDaniel scheming the run game, like he can he can he can like he's going to have really big weeks, but
19:10I just don't think it's going to be consistent enough to pay off that one two turn price.
19:17>> Yeah, I've taken some of them in part because I'm like I don't know. I mean, this could go a variety of ways, and Hampton,
19:25I think, has the talent to um to really pay off if used as a workhorse. And I don't want to like decide what the
19:32Chargers are going to do. I mean, there's also the potential for injuries and Hampton to consolidate more work over the course of the year, even if
19:40it's not really the plan to use utilize him as a workhorse. He could so clearly be the dude by the end of his second
19:45season that that ends up being how the season closes. So, you know, I have 5% of them. It's not like a hard fade for
19:52me, but it is a guy I'm probably going to be taking less of. So, I I'll be, you know, firmly underweight Hampton by the
20:00end of of the summer, I would say.
20:02>> But, by the way, >> unless he falls if he falls a 23 turn or something like that, I'd be >> That'd be nice.
20:06>> Yeah.
20:07>> Uh, by by the way, Mike McDaniel, this I found this really interesting. Uh, in this interview on NFL Daily with Greg
20:13Rosenthal and Jordan Rodrigue on August 12th said, "We are very confident in ultimately being able to play in whatever personnel group that is
20:22dictated by the defense. You have a lot of solutions on this roster. I can be as varied as I've ever been in personnels,
20:29which makes you harder to prepare for as an opponent and hopefully creates more of those advantageous situations for all the guys." He he mentioned um I think he
20:39mentioned like uh 10 personnel as as one of them and then obviously you know 12 and and 13 and and 22. So um
20:49yeah hopefully it's it's Lad Makanki that's out there in in a lot of these kind of heavier personnel sets. Um like
20:58it's there's there's a there's a shot that that Trey Harris >> Yeah. Yeah, I think >> does like he did last year and and and
21:04he plays in in in 13 >> and then 12 and and and those kinds of things. So like maybe we're looking at
21:10lad versus qj >> uh in in in those sets >> especially in 13 he was used um >> which is kind of interesting like
21:19sometimes what like puka didn't play a ton in the in the 13 stuff >> for the Rams. So they can just have like
21:25that can be a role thing to an extent I think. Mhm.
21:28>> Um, so that one could be a bit of a committee that would, you know, be kind of disappointing, especially for what
21:34we're paying. In Jacksonville, there's been kind of Toutin has been as late as the sixth at times this summer, as early
21:41as the the early fourth, you know, not his ADP getting there, but I've seen him go there. Um, so, you know, a little bit
21:49yo-yoing uh between the, you know, the the fourth and the sixth, mostly in the early fifth now. Uh he is priced though
21:58I would say more like a committee back.
22:01Uh I mean certainly Bucky Irving we expect to be in some kind of committee.
22:04He goes he goes there as well. Quan Judkins is probably the workhorse but on the Browns. So he's kind of around guys.
22:10I mean Swift is you know the leader of a committee. More of a 1A back I guess you'd say. Um but with Tuton you know we
22:19we got him getting goal line usage last year. He's an explosive back. He can catch the ball a bit. So, he's
22:24definitely intriguing. At the same time, Chris Rodriguez was has been used in short yardage. They're talking about him in short yardage role potentially.
22:31That's what John Shipley keeps uh talking about what he's seeing in camp.
22:36So, where are you at on like what Toutton's role ultimately looks like?
22:40>> Yeah. Uh this this press conference on August 13th from Liam Liam Cohen um ma made me feel better about having David
22:49McGomery and DeAndre Swift ranked >> above Bashel Tutin. and he was asked about filling the void left behind by Travis at Yen. And Cohen said the guys
22:59that are going to come in to replace them. Ultimately, it's their jobs to take, we're going to have to be a little
23:04bit more by committee and those guys are going to have to play their part. And then later in the same presser, he talks
23:10about Bashel Tutin. He says the 428 jumps out at you. He can run. He's strong. He can run through contact.
23:16Right now, we just got to continue to work on his tracks, reading his keys, and just go play. not overthinking where
23:23the ball maybe should go or could go and just stick your foot in the ground and get north because when he does that and
23:30he gets his shoulders square and downhill, it can be impressive. He can really run through arm tackles. I've been pleased with him, but we've got to
23:37take another step. And this is, you know, kind kind of what we've been hearing throughout this off season of
23:46it's up to these guys to control how much they're on the field. And we heard this stuff from Cohen last year when
23:55when Toutton was a rookie about he's learning the five tracks for a running back. And I was hoping that this offseason we we would get from Cohen
24:04like he's got all that stuff down like we're good. and and he's been saying the like you've got the ball security down.
24:10All right? Like let's let's go do let's go do the other stuff. Let's be creative. Uh let's let's pump the arms
24:16when when you're out in space.
24:18>> And it it it sounds like he's still kind of adjusting, which is concerning to me because one of the kind of red flags
24:26with Tuton has been his vision and it doesn't sound like they completely trust him, right? So that's why we also get some of this talk about Chris
24:36Rodriguez. We like him because he, you know, he can get us four yards on a carry or six yards on a carry and and
24:44and with Tooten it seems like uh it could be two yards or it could be
24:5220 yards, right? So that's um it's a it's it's it's a little concerning to me.
25:00Yeah, I mean he that was a concern for me coming out is that he might be more of a boom bust runner.
25:07And it's funny because, you know, in his rookie season, he was actually very consistent. His success rate was was very high, you know, in NFL NextGen. Uh,
25:15and he wasn't particularly explosive. He was actually kind of more ripping off those chunk gains. Um, which I found encouraging to be honest because it's
25:23like, yeah, I don't I don't boom bust guys like Harvey was extremely boom bust and I think that has not served him well
25:29as far as, you know, getting more of a lead back role. They bring back Dobbins.
25:35They seem pretty intrigued by Jonah Coleman now. Like coaches like that consistency a lot. Um, and maybe he's not where they're, you know, hoping
25:45he'll he'll be or hoping he would be as far as that consistency. I do think that, you know, I I still like taking him in
25:54the fifth as a bet on him being able to distance himself from Chris Rodriguez over the course of the year. and
26:03Rodriguez being pretty consistent last year and and actually reasonably explosive last year, but playing in, you know, a system that was either with
26:13Jaden Daniels or Marcus Mariota had a little bit of quarterback mobility there. Um, he's not been a particularly good runner otherwise. And you know, the
26:23the bet with Tuton is ultimately you're going back to the prospect profile, seeing a guy who's versatile, explosive, and college.
26:32And can he be that type of player in the NFL? I think he can. It might not be week one. Um, and so I think, you know,
26:42he's he's a dude that you're kind of betting on to start with a good role, um, or at least a solid role and have
26:49that become more of like a, oh, locked and loaded starter type of guy down the back half of the season. Yeah, I I do
26:58keep coming back to the point of which uh Sus Edwards is is is kind of making here in the chat of it's it's really for
27:10a Liam Cohen offense like you want a running back who can provide you some stuff in the passing game like Bucky
27:17Irving in his rookie season with Liam Cohen and Chris Rodriguez just like does not bring that to the table. So that
27:25really limits your playbook as as far as the scope of things that you're able to call during a uh a game and and and and
27:35you know a guy like Tutin like really opens that up if if he does get to the point where they trust him to be an
27:42efficient back and it's not like early career, you know, Kenneth Walker kind of >> running around and sometimes will pop a
27:52a 40 yard run But, you know, many times he'll get you like a two-yard loss or a four-yard loss or a one-yard gain or
28:00things like that. If if if he can build trust in that coaching staff that like, okay, we can put Tuton out on the field
28:08and we are going to remain on schedule.
28:10Cuz this was one of the things that Cohen said a week or so ago is like last year in this offense, like I've never
28:17been behind schedule so much as I was in 2025. And that like really aggravated him. Um, by the way, Travis Sitchen, uh,
28:25this back who you're saying is irreplaceable, was your running back, uh, when [laughter] for that season, but >> Right.
28:33>> Right. And he's kind of a boom bust runner.
28:36>> Mhm.
28:36>> So, you know, I think that that could be something they do they do improve on this year and potentially with the help
28:42of Rodriguez because I think, you know, north south runner, very comfortable running between the tackles and everything. I do think, you know,
28:50they've talked they've said some stuff this off season that doesn't actually align with being on schedule. Like if you get three yards on first down,
28:58you're not on schedule, you know.
29:00>> So they they kind of they're talking a big game about how much they love, you know, this banging running back in the
29:07middle, you know, and and two yard gains glass eater. But I think the glass eating two yard plays are going to get
29:14old if that is what happens, you know.
29:16So you have the potential for Rodriguez to seem more fun in theory. Um especially if you feel like the defense knows you're going to run the ball when
29:24he's on the field. Uh so Tutin giving you that versatility is is really important. Laquent Allen is also there.
29:32So the downside for Toutin is that like I think a play that would make me if I could know like one play, you know, like
29:41how does like second and six, second and goal from the six, how does second and goal from the six look? Is
29:50Tutin out there? Is Rodriguez still out there? Like that's a play where I think Tuton offers them a lot more because he
29:58can you can put the ball in his belly.
30:00He can run. He was pretty good at the goal line last year. Like, but also you could do a little pass to him. You could
30:06you could have him run a route, you know, and and throw to someone else, but it's not like an obvious that he that he
30:13wouldn't ever get targeted. You know, the defense would have to respect that he's a he's an actual target in that situation.
30:19So, yeah. I mean, if that's Rodriguez or if if we get Laquent anytime they're, you know, in an obvious pass situation
30:26instead of Tootton, like that's that Toutin is gonna be a bad pick then. But I think if he has enough of that kind of
30:31more versatile, you don't know what we're going to do type of goal lineish stuff, uh, then, you know, we'll be okay. I I think we can give up some some
30:40touchdowns as Chris Rodriguez and he can still pay off in the fifth.
30:43>> Yeah.
30:46Uh, all right. But you're taking, you said you're taking Swift and Montgomery over. I've been taking Montgomery over him. Normally I take him ahead of Swift,
30:53but I'm trying to get a little more Swift. Yeah, I've I've had them over him for several weeks, I think. And then and
31:00and and now with a another Manungai um I think leg injury now just um you know, kind of solidifies that.
31:09>> That Yeah, that makes sense. Uh Tyler Warren, a guy who's had a lot of buzz.
31:15Uh what are your thoughts on him?
31:18>> Yeah. Uh Shane Stiken on the Pat McAfee Show on August 11th um
31:28right before that album dropped.
31:32Sao Psycho is pretty funny in this in this interview. He he's uh very different than than in his press or it's
31:40like he just kind of lets loose on these uh national shows and uh found out well he talked about on on this one but also
31:48a previous I think Pat or no it was Rich Eisen uh he he he was on the prices right back uh back in his college days
31:57which I I I went and tried to find the video >> on YouTube have not been able to find it even though there's like pretty much
32:04every episode from that season is is on there. Um, >> you call steak and wire. [laughter] >> What if he was lying? That'd be wild.
32:15>> He got he he was upset because he was supposed to go last and and and Bob Barker was uh like called on him second
32:25to last and Stiken was like, "I'm supposed to go last." And Barker was like, "Go."
32:32And he lost. Not anymore.
32:34>> Yeah. But uh Stiken on August 11th said, "Tyler Warren looks phenomenal. He's having a hell of a camp right now. Just
32:42trying to get the matchups with him any way we can, find different ways to use him, and go from there. He's just a
32:48tremendous player that we try to get him the ball any way we can. And this has been what Stikken is saying uh pretty
32:57much this entire offseason. you know, we got this huge drum beat on him uh during his rookie season last year and then
33:04this year it's it's been kind of the the same stuff of like it's it's year two and he's working on the route running a
33:12little bit, but like this guy is awesome and we want him to be a really huge part of this offense. He looked so good last
33:20year like early on with Daniel Jones.
33:24the offense looked really good while Daniel Jones was was healthy. Um, you know, Stiken talked so much about getting Warren matched up on linebackers
33:35and like what a huge advantage that is.
33:38And I I actually talked about this with Jacob Gibbs on on an episode I just put out about, you know, the loudest coach
33:44drum beats this season about how like even when he's covered like this guy is open because his his he just has such
33:52outstanding hands and we saw that on display over and over. But we we saw this middle of the field stuff, but we
33:58also saw the Colts split split him out.
34:01we saw him be able to work, you know, way downfield and uh we actually got that in like the first preseason game
34:08last year. Uh seeing that and it was like, okay, wheel wheels up. Like they're going to use this guy all over
34:14the place. So they they know what what a key part of the of the offense he is. He led the team in targets last year. You
34:22know, there there's this drum beat on on Josh DS, you know, playing more outside, playing playing more snaps. Um but like
34:31they they just might run this thing through through Tyler Warren again.
34:37>> Yeah. I mean I think one reason to bring Pierce back was I think you know that it will help open up stuff for Tyler
34:48Warren. Um, and you know, he can be that kind of yak weapon with a fairly low A dot. And Pierce is a dude who you have
35:00to respect as a defense, especially if they're utilizing him in a more versatile way, but also like he's going to run plenty of go routes and, you
35:09know, stretch the defense. I think with Pierce dealing with this injury and now potentially, you know, he might miss some games,
35:20it's harder for me to believe that he is going to be this like focal point from, you know, the like is he going to be
35:28kind of like what Courtland Sutton was for the Broncos a couple years ago where he's like the field stretcher and the
35:33number one guy or like where Terry McLaren has been. I think there was like that's sort of the upside that I was
35:39thinking about for Pierce because they clearly signaled they wanted him to be like a a more complete and well-rounded receiver. Um but like how how can that
35:50really be the offense they're designing for the beginning of the year? They don't have Pierce.
35:55>> So the next the next most obvious focal point is Tyler Warren. And in in honest in all honesty, like I kind of think
36:03Warren would probably have been the focal point even if Pierce had been fully healthy by the time we got to like
36:09mid-season because he's I don't think Pierce is like that great, you know? I think he probably is better at just kind
36:15of being a deep threat who you have to respect as opposed to like a true number one. So, uh yeah, Warren, I haven't been
36:23taking a ton of them. Uh I want to take more of him though. He is someone that, you know, I I kind of see a little bit
36:32of difference between him and Colston Loveland, but like less as time goes on where he could could I think he could
36:39outscore Lovelin.
36:42Yeah, I I don't view that as super likely. Like I I I don't see Tyler Warren as a guy who's going to get like
36:5110 12 targets in in games. like more like pretty consistent like six to >> Gibbs 102.
37:01>> Yeah, man. Let's go. [laughter] >> That's a nice little gift here on Monday morning.
37:07>> Thank you, >> Cap Star.
37:09>> Pre I I think he'll be just super involved again and I think the offense will be
37:20pretty good. I think Daniel Jones will be pretty much 100% when when the season starts. He he looks very good by all
37:27accounts right now and he's also running around a little bit in in practice. So, I'm not I'm not super worried about
37:35coming off that injury this year. And Stiken's a a very underrated play caller, like really good offensive play caller who who who thinks that Tyler
37:46Warren is a dude.
37:50Stiken is one of those guys who, you know, because Daniel Jones gets hurt last year and the whole thing kind of falls apart. We're
37:57not. And then Ben Johnson, you know, looks like an awesome head coach in addition to being a really sharp offensive mind.
38:05We're not he's not top of mind as like one of these dudes who designs really really good offense, but he clearly
38:11does.
38:12>> They almost got to the playoffs with Gardenner Mchu started.
38:16>> They were they were a dropped pass away from making the playoffs.
38:22>> Yeah.
38:24>> Who was that running back by the way? Do you remember who that was? It was a backup running back. Was it Dion
38:30something?
38:32>> I don't remember.
38:37I'm not sure.
38:39Got to move it up because it's bothering me.
38:43So, I remember that guy, but I don't remember the guy.
38:47>> Do you think he's still in the league?
38:49>> Goodson.
38:51>> I think it was Goodson. Tyler Goodson.
38:53>> Okay. Tyler Goodson.
38:54>> Yeah.
39:00Where do you think Jeremiah Love and Bree Hall end up settling?
39:07>> I mean, Bree Hall I've gotten in the fourth on DraftKings before.
39:12>> So, I mean, Bree Hall, he will pro like I I bet we see screenshots of fifth round Bree Hall.
39:21>> I bet we see it. I don't think he'll fall. Like, I don't think that's where his ADP will end up, but I I bet it
39:25happens. DraftKings, you you have enough variance on on where these guys go. I I do think we get it. Uh and then probably
39:33Yeah. fourth round love and he probably I mean I think with love too, you you're dealing with them talking about like
39:42yeah, we're going to use Tyler Algier.
39:45They they kind of signal that with the preseason usage to an extent.
39:50They're I mean it's Nathaniel Hackett like he's down to do something dumb, you know?
39:56How could you have it to where like if you weren't going to have plans to use him as a workhorse in the regular
40:03season, but you you give him 14 touches in in the first preseason game.
40:09>> Oh, I thought you were saying they were going to save him for the playoffs.
40:15>> They were saving it for the second preseason game.
40:18>> It does seem dumb, but that's what I mean. Like I, you know, you have I just don't tr I don't know what to think of
40:25Michael Floor. Like you you have um >> I don't know what to think of him.
40:30>> Matt Laflur's pretty sharp in certain ways and not so sharp in other ways.
40:35>> You know, we have some McVey uh ties now.
40:40But is he like the wor is he is he a lesser floor? The the hacket hire makes you worried he's a lesser laflor.
40:47>> Yes. Yeah.
40:50Although, wasn't Matt Laflur like pretty tight with with Nathaniel Hackett? I think he had him as >> he has he has some concerning
40:57tendencies. Matt, >> I think he had him as like a special assistant or something.
41:02>> Did he?
41:04>> Well, he was with Roger. I mean, Rogers, you know, that's that's his boy. So, was he there with Rogers to the floor and
41:12>> post Rogers?
41:14>> Okay.
41:14>> I think he like >> Hacket went to Denver then. Oh, Bowowers goes. I was really >> damn >> Ah, you good with London?
41:23>> Yeah, very good with London.
41:27>> London this late is nice. It just would have been more fun to draft Powers.
41:32>> It's surprising to see him go this late.
41:34He He had an ADP of like 16 and now we're getting him in.
41:38>> Yeah.
41:38>> 2122 Nico for sure.
41:42>> Boom.
41:43>> All right.
41:44>> Pretty good start. I think I think I'd rather have London and Nico than like Bowers and Pickins maybe. I don't know.
41:54>> What about Rice and Scataboo?
41:58>> Uh Rushy Rice.
42:00>> I'm just commenting on the one hole.
42:03>> Oh. Oh, wow.
42:06Damn. [laughter] >> Yeah. We had Josh second round.
42:12>> Naji Harris news. Yeah, I guess not.
42:16Maybe maybe it's Naji Harris parenthesis bullish for uh [laughter] >> Tyrone Tracy might never >> see the field again. Uh John,
42:27>> did they did they talk about that block?
42:29>> Yes.
42:30>> Okay, I need to hear this.
42:32>> Two two comments from John Harbaugh. One was in the postgame presser. They asked Harbaugh's feelings on the hit that Jackson Dart took and he said, quote,
42:42"My feelings in that moment was we need to block better. That's what my feeling was." End [laughter] quote. And then yesterday,
42:49>> how did you express that feeling, John?
42:53>> Yesterday they asked him about it again.
42:56And he said, quote, "There's no way he should have been hit there. That just shouldn't have happened. That was a basic protection. He should have been
43:05protected. We expect him in that situation to be protected in the future.
43:10End quote.
43:12>> Naja Harris visiting the Giants.
43:13>> So done. [laughter] >> You better convert back to receiver.
43:19>> That is brutal.
43:21>> Mhm.
43:23>> Wow.
43:26>> That's >> not as brutal as the Ali Gordon stuff would sound Milleresque, but that is that is close, >> dude. That is close.
43:34the entire Jeff Halfley press conference yesterday. So there there were let's see
43:41um five five notes in there and the one about Devon Achan outstanding. The ones about everyone else not so not so great.
43:52uh Quinn Quinn Eureers's performance like he wasn't super high on that with the the Caleb Douglas that that that catch went viral like
44:03such an outstanding catch and people were like oh Caleb Douglas to the moon but I guess they might have not been
44:10watching the game because it was it was like a play or two before that where there's like a 20 25 yard pass to Caleb
44:17Douglas and he's over on the sideline and his foot is just like out of bounds like like any NFL receiver should have
44:23been able to to make that catch and and stay in bounds. But um yeah, they they asked him about Caleb Douglas's
44:29highlight reel catch and Halfley said, "Unbelievable catch, but I think the important piece is to get in the film room and say, "Hey, you need to flatten
44:36out this route more and this would have been an explosive play, too." Or say, "You need to stay on this block longer.
44:43We got to clean some stuff up." So, there's a ton of praise. Awesome. Go enjoy it, but we've got to get to work.
44:52That's so good.
44:53>> This dude's such a man.
44:55>> That was a cool catch, but mostly I'm panicking because I don't think these guys are good.
45:00>> Yeah, this is why he's giving Devonte Chan 45 touches per game. He hates everyone else.
45:06>> Yeah, speaking of the I haven't had a chance to uh talk about this on a podcast, but I did for this article I
45:13have up on Legendary Upside looking at the sophomore running backs. I just dug into the every headline that Roto World had on Kendry Miller in the summer of
45:22his second uh season in in a in a season where he was drafted over 40,000 times in BBM5. Um he was 72% drafted with an
45:32ADP of 162. Here's every headline. July 18th, Saints head coach Dennis Allen said he wants to see more consistency from Kendry Miller this season. From the
45:4224th, Saints coach Dennis Allen said Kendry Miller hamstring needs to quote figure out how to stay healthy. Then from the August [clears throat] 15th,
45:49Saints head coach Dennis Allen reportedly remains bearish on Kendry Miller's hamstring 2024 prospects. Then from the 21st, Dennis Allen said he
45:57doesn't know if Kendry Miller hamstring can learn the offensive system because he hasn't been able to practice. And then from the 27th, Saints expected to
46:05place Kendra Miller on injured reserve to start the season.
46:08>> God fit.
46:09>> We drafted right through that.
46:12>> [laughter] >> figuring out how to stay healthy is not all on the player. Like a lot of that is the team's job.
46:22>> Not according to Dennis Allen and uh he's still a head coach, right?
46:28>> Yeah, I think he is, isn't he? Is he?
46:31Brace tall goes in the middle of the fourth. I didn't want to comment on it cuz I was >> hoping it would happen. But yeah, I feel
46:36better about my uh he might go into the fifth >> uh you know in some drafts comment given that he just went 407.
46:43>> Dude, wake waking up with 20 plus% of Bree Hall and seeing a notification that >> goes down with a groin injury
46:51>> non-cont injury. O >> yeah.
46:56>> Uh ETN here seems pretty good to me.
47:00Um what are your what are your thoughts on Hall? Uh he's actually a guy that you you had flagged as some of the comments
47:06around him and then uh Garrett Wilson as well on the Jets.
47:10>> Yeah. Uh we got Well, do we want to make this >> Let's make this pick >> upcoming pick here first. Got a got a
47:18couple eyes I got my eyes on here.
47:21>> Sidekick is with you on Montgomery ahead of Tutin.
47:25>> Um >> good job.
47:26>> And then Tutin goes [laughter] Oh, we'll get one of our guys here.
47:31>> Montgomery and Burden would both be very fun here.
47:34>> I I can't even decide which one I would rather have.
47:38>> Well, >> well, it force David Montgomery it is.
47:45>> Yeah. Frank Reich did this interview with team media on August 11th. They asked him, "Do you see any similarities in Bree Hall and Jonathan's Taylor game
47:56being different players but also being bellcows?" Reich said he's definitely a bellcow. It's only been a short time, but I can tell he has elite football IQ.
48:06There have been some times that we kind of have him on some past stuff and he sees it like a receiver, like he's
48:12running around like he's a legit receiver. That's just unusual for a running back. A lot of running backs have good hands. Some backs can operate
48:20out of the backfield and do a few little route tree things, but then there's a very small selected group that you can
48:28take out of the backfield and put in the slot or put outside drink on the put in the slot uh and have any kind of
48:34production with them. Bree is a guy that if we want to do that, we can. Oh my god. [laughter] Listen, running backs playing in the
48:43slot is always noise unless it's a guy that you like and then it's medium.
48:48>> [laughter] >> Yeah. Not only So, the thing is he's playing in the slot because he's in the best shape of his life, you know.
48:54>> Yeah. Oh my god. Yeah. [laughter] That's you're golden then.
48:59>> Yeah.
49:00>> Yeah. I mean, so this this whole injury doesn't seem like it's, you know, as bad as it could be. I don't think he's a
49:06lock now to be ready for the start of the season, but he probably will be is what uh, you know, at least the latest I
49:13saw before we started potting this morning. So, um, you know, that it's it's unfortunate. It's also something where maybe we dodged a bullet, you
49:23know, on a more serious injury. So, if he's going to be going in the fourth, I I think I'm going to be I mean, Bree
49:29Hall was top of the sidekick. I didn't actually see where it started. Maybe someone uh, you know, can can rewind and
49:35and tell us, but he was he was going to be the pick very very clearly for us at 411. Um, and I think, you know, given
49:42that we we have seen Jacobs, um, as a as a pretty clear click in the in the early fourth, even with suspension risk baked
49:51in for him, um, I I I bet that Hall fourth round Hall will be a big part of what we're doing. If if that ends up
50:00being where he settles, >> where do you have Bree Hall versus Jeremiah Love?
50:06So Hall, we were taking ahead of Love um like not most of the time that like that happened recently. So we basically had
50:17just had Hall flipping Love in the early third, not every time, but some of the time uh in the Sims and and that's kind
50:26of where things were headed uh you know with um before both guys got hurt. So,
50:34still have Hall uh slightly ahead, but that's one where the the injury outlook now plays a big factor. But, but yeah,
50:45right before both guys got hurt, uh Hall slightly ahead.
50:50Speaking of best shape of their life, uh I'm I'm doing this the contest this year in the coach Speak Index Discord is a
50:58coach speak bingo and everybody's going to get a different bingo card with like things that coaches say in press conferences and then when they say it
51:05I'll I'll clip it, put it in there.
51:08>> Um like Joe Brady saying everybody eats is like one of the easy ones. Sean Payeyton says Joker. Um, got uh Jim
51:17Harbaugh references the accountant or Joe Dirt is one of the medium ones. Um, let's see. One of the hard ones is Ben
51:27Johnson refuses to apologize for running a hook and ladder.
51:32>> And um, yeah, one of the very rare ones is Liam Cohen doing the weird Duvall thing again.
51:41Dude, that would be if he if they win a Super Bowl and he does Duvall on the podium, [laughter] >> that would be one of the alltime flexes.
51:50>> He He might would He probably would.
51:53>> I might be. He should.
51:54>> He definitely would have last year.
51:56>> Yeah, he he would be like beloved, you know, like that would be Yeah, that would live on forever.
52:04Do it. If you want a Super Bowl, do it.
52:07>> Yeah.
52:07>> Now I want them to win a Super Bowl just for the chance he does do it.
52:10>> [laughter] >> All right, we are getting close here. Uh, Warren fell to the middle of the sixth, which would
52:22have been fun. Henderson falling.
52:24Henderson flipped by Stevenson.
52:26>> Mhm.
52:26>> I haven't seen that yet. I I thought we might get it. Uh, obviously that's not the ADPs, but at least one drafter here.
52:35>> I've had it that way for a little while now. I don't I don't have it ranked that way and I I I would prefer Henderson
52:42just because I think if one of these guys just smashes it's it's Henderson.
52:47Um and I think Stevenson has, you know, he's Jacob's written about this too or or talked about with with Stevenson being like not the most consistent guy
52:57in the world actually and and obviously with the fumbling problem. So as like the >> the guy you can trust there are some
53:04things.
53:04>> Yeah.
53:05>> Yeah.
53:07They love Raandre, man.
53:13I know they like they they love Raandre.
53:16I'm a little bit like Well, we'll see how that love sustains over the course of the year.
53:23>> I think I might be Leaporta here.
53:26>> I'm down with that.
53:28Um, not that I because I think Henderson, it's one of those things where like I when the pads come on, some of the
53:40bruising backs shine. I think the like, oh yeah, you can you can hit 40 yard touchdowns. That's more like real games.
53:49Real games are where that starts to shine. And you go, yeah, actually that's pretty cool. I like that. What if we
53:55start playing this guy more? And you have Stephvenson with some potential to kind of turn a little bit back into a
54:02pumpkin where like we didn't we weren't that that excited about him.
54:06>> But he was pretty last year.
54:08>> He was good. He was good last year. Last year was a very good year for him.
54:11>> But I I don't know that that's indicative. Like I think there's a bigger gap between the explosiveness of of Stephvenson and Henderson than we saw
54:17last year.
54:19>> So and we saw a very explosive Henderson. But um yeah, I would I would like Stevenson to flip Henderson and
54:26then I'll happily take Henderson. Uh I think Stevenson in the seventh has been a good pick. So just kind of a price
54:32thing for me where if I can get more of a discount on Henderson, I'll I'll get overweight pretty quickly.
54:36>> It was real nice when he was going in the like 80s.
54:39>> Yeah, man. Yeah. I mean, let me let me pull it up because I'm definitely underweight Henderson.
54:48I'm at 6% Henderson and Stevenson. and I'm at 12 1.5%. So, I've I'm literally taking Henderson half as much as Stevenson,
54:57but it's it's because of the price. And if if Stevenson flipped him, I I would I would be pretty strong Henderson at that
55:03point.
55:04>> Yeah, I'm at 19% Raandre.
55:09>> Okay.
55:10>> And 6% Trayvon in the in the flagship.
55:15>> Okay. Yep.
55:20Yeah. I don't want to pay more for Stevenson. I like I like the price I've been paying.
55:25>> Yeah. And I don't want to pay more for Henderson. So [laughter] >> I'm fine with that. Yeah.
55:32>> Yeah.
55:32>> Yeah.
55:38>> So we've got the double Lions set up now. Leaporta I've been trying to take a little bit more of. Um
55:43>> same.
55:44>> So I'm good with with him there for sure. And then Gibbs, ETN, Montgomery at running back, London Collins at receiver, Daniels, and Leaporta at the
55:53onesies.
55:55Pretty fun start. Daniels getting all the way back to us is cool.
56:00>> Running back pretty strong.
56:02>> Leaporta paired up now with uh Drew Petting who's I think origins or as a as a tight end coach. And uh yeah, he's
56:10he's one of those guys who like I kind of need that push from the sidekick sometimes to be like, "Oh yeah,
56:18Sam Laaporta, let's I've been wanting to get some more Sam Laaporta."
56:22>> Yeah, Sidekick is saying Laaporta. Let's uh let's do it.
56:27Yeah, Leaporta we we've come up on a little bit recently, like as of last week, came up a little bit on him and
56:34and as someone that, >> you know, hasn't made like a ton of noise uh coming back from the injury, but has been it's been kind of quiet,
56:41but but positive.
56:43>> Yeah.
56:43>> Um and just a dude where I'm like there's potential for him to, you know, really be over the injury quickly and
56:51and back in a really strong offense as the number two target earner potentially. Um, obviously he could be the third behind Williams. He's alive to
57:00be the number two for sure. Uh, and they they're going to score a lot of points again probably. So, yeah, not someone I
57:06want to be sleeping on.
57:08>> Yeah. I'm just always kind of hesitant on back injuries. Like this was a pretty serious back injury. So, >> yeah.
57:18>> But, uh, yeah.
57:19>> But it's been positive, you know, as far as his recovery goes and where he's at.
57:23>> Yeah. But that's partly why I wasn't taking a ton of them early, just the uncertainty around the injury. But that
57:30seems to be trending in the right direction.
57:36These uh these like Titans and and Steelers backfields are getting getting really interesting here. Saw a decent amount of Taiish
57:46Spears in that first preseason game for the Titans. We got this talk from Mike McCarthy on on how much he likes Rico
57:55Dattle and that's looking like it might be more of a split backfield and I think he gets the the goal line roll between
58:04at least the majority of the goal line touches. You know, McCarthy famously has referred to him as a bowling ball full
58:11of butcher knives, which is like a pretty good >> I don't know that he's actually >> Yeah, I'm not sure he's any better than
58:18than Warren though in short yardage. I mean, Warren might get kind of, you know, the stereotype of the smaller guy might hurt him in that regard, but he's
58:28he's kind of a bowling ball. You like who's actually more of a bowling ball?
58:33Butcher knives aside, it's wore.
58:37>> It's a It It would actually be really hard for a bowling ball with butcher knives coming out of it to like It's
58:43going to stick in the >> Wouldn't roll correctly.
58:46>> Yeah.
58:47>> Well, maybe it it only rolls on the side and the knives are sticking out. I mean, that would be pretty
58:53>> I would not like that rolling towards me. I'll tell you that. [laughter] All right, we got Mahomes top of the
59:01sidekick here. Jared Goff uh third. We have the the double of sorts with with Gibbs and Leaporta. Metaf falling all
59:10the way back to 95 with an ADP of 80 would certainly be a pretty big value.
59:17>> Yeah.
59:17>> And then uh JCM in the mix as well. I I think we're in a good spot here. I'm liking our options.
59:23Medaf jumps to the top as the the value play. Yeah, we can get homes or or golf on the way back.
59:31>> Yeah, I think that's the move. Mecca first goes >> Maron.
59:36>> Yeah, >> guy. But that um that hurt a little bit.
59:42>> It did.
59:43>> So I I I'd be good for either one of them or we can do uh Crosky Merritt and then grab one of these QBs on the way
59:50back.
59:51>> Okay.
59:52>> You've been wanting to get some more.
59:54>> I'm down. Some more Bill.
59:57>> Yeah, we'll pull up Bill and then we'll we'll take a quarterback.
60:01Oh, Sidekick says don't take a quarterback now. You're not going to listen to me. [laughter] Fine. Take a tight end, man.
60:09You're on your own.
60:13>> Don't come crying to me. [laughter] I mean, Vannon here is fine. We could lock up the uh the double with golf as
60:24well.
60:26>> Let's go golf. Let's go with the old sidekick recommendation.
60:30>> Let's Let's >> the previous [laughter] >> We want the old Sims. Okay. Don't tell us these new Sims. Jaden Reed, by the
60:38way, would have been >> I don't even know you anymore.
60:40>> Another fall. Not as big a fall, but uh >> about 10 picks, >> eight picks, I guess. I didn't even
60:47realize we were pulling up Bill that that much here.
60:53>> Not a ton. I mean, what I think he >> 108. Yeah. He wouldn't have come back to one >> the the late 10th round bill is over.
61:09You've uh you've swung pretty big on Bill then.
61:13>> Um I mean I a a little bit. A little bit I' I'd be more back in on them if
61:25uh they had not lost Tonsel, obviously.
61:31Yeah.
61:33What did uh Yeah. Quinn Quinn talked about their running backs the other night. He liked uh you like Robert Henry
61:42Jr. and Pass Pro.
61:45>> Oh, no.
61:47We don't want that. That's not good for us.
61:50>> He said, uh, Katron Allen has excellent hands coming out of the back field.
61:55>> No, his hands are very secure.
61:58>> Commissioner, roll it back. Roll it.
62:00Roll it back.
62:02It's like you you guys on uh on ship chasing [laughter] >> last. No, no, that wasn't like us on ship chasing because that was a glitch.
62:11>> Yeah. Well, I think this was a glitch in my brain.
62:16>> [laughter] >> We should have taken Mahomes. We'd like to put that pick in. [laughter] >> Yeah. I uh I don't want to hear any of
62:29that. Robert Henry, Katron Allen.
62:33>> More. I just don't want it uh all split up, you know? I don't want some gross committee.
62:38The thing that kind of got me more on on Bill, one of the things is that >> it started to click in my head of like,
62:46oh, right, they're talking about how we want him to be a better pass catcher, not because he's going to be like a pass
62:51catching specialist, but because they they want him to be an actual lead running back.
62:56>> Yeah.
62:56>> And to be a lead running back, you have to catch the ball some >> uh and not tip plays and just beed
63:02one-dimensional. And it kind of seems like that's where things are headed that he's just going to be their lead running back. But that's not super super
63:11valuable if Rashad White is playing a pretty big role as well. And then there's a third back involved. That's where, you know, he's he should be going
63:21more back in the 11th where he used to go.
63:24>> Yeah. I I I think they recognize, hey, this this guy out of all our running backs has the most juice.
63:35It would be nice if we could use him in the pass game as well. And that'll just make our offense that much better
63:43because we like him the best as a runner. And then if we can get that going in the pass game as well, then,
63:50you know, kind of kind of wheels up.
63:54>> Yeah. Yeah. I think they're they're telling you that they want him to be a more traditional start.
64:00>> He's begging for it.
64:01>> Yeah.
64:04If he can't be that though, they do have some other options. I mean, White doesn't tip plays, you know.
64:09>> If you don't want him to, he doesn't have to. He can be I mean you're gonna get like 4.1 yards per carry and be like
64:16he ran well today. But um [laughter] that'd be like a monster game.
64:22>> 4.1 yards per carry bullish. You know that kind of thing.
64:28>> I'm doing back flips off of that.
64:30>> Right. Right. But I think he could do that. You know, I don't think that's that's outlandish. And then he is a very
64:36good receiver, good pass protector.
64:38>> Let's go Golden here. Okay.
64:42Now, Worthy will definitely not come back because this guy has Mahomes.
64:47>> So, if we did want to try to play both >> Annie Golden.
64:50>> All right.
64:50>> And he's popping near the top here >> and he's 10 picks past ADP.
64:57>> Yeah, I'm pretty sure that Worthy is a much stronger.
65:01>> You can you can throw up off camera if you want. You know, it's fine if we hear it. We know
65:07>> Worthy is going to go here. Kelsey goes.
65:09I like how he took Kelsey first.
65:12Um, Dobs I like though. If he gets back, that would be our what? Our fourth receiver. Yeah, >> Willis, we got Worthy. I was wrong.
65:22>> All right.
65:23>> Look at you, man. He This guy was cursing us for taking Golden. He He wanted Golden, apparently. Then he was
65:29panicking when we took Golden.
65:35Beautiful.
65:37Yeah. Where? Where? Where are you at with the Chiefs wide receivers of Rice, Worthy,
65:46Cyrus Allen, Taekwon Thornton.
65:51My expectation is that as much as Allen has played in training camp that there's still actually a good chance he doesn't
65:58play a ton to begin the season or at least is in sort of a more specialized, you know, part-time role like 40% route
66:09participation type of thing because this is the Chiefs offense. It's It's not an offense where like even Rashi Rice had to work over the course of the year to
66:19really solidify himself in in a big role. And that was with like Sky Moore and I think Hardman like there was not a
66:28lot of competition. Uh maybe Guju there, but I don't even I'm not even sure he was there. I don't think he was. So, uh,
66:35anyway, I I'm not convinced that Allen is able to have like a big role right away, >> but obviously like he has had a really
66:45strong training camp in a way that doesn't feel like some just kind of like Chief's blip.
66:51>> Yeah.
66:52>> You know, we get that a little bit.
66:53Jaylen Royals. Yeah. It feels a lot more real than that. So, I am taking some some Allen late now, especially with
67:00Mahomes. Like, I I think he's pretty good stacking partner. It's made me a little more nervous on Rice. Um, Rice, I
67:07think, is is is more like a running back than most other wide receivers in terms of the fragility of his role.
67:15>> Uh, he's not as clear to me that he's earning his targets as much as like he got the playing time and then when he's
67:23on the field, he's going to get targeted at a pretty high rate because he has a super low AOT role and it's very fantasy
67:28friendly. But it doesn't he scores a lot better than his talent. Uh which is which is unusual at wide receiver.
67:36Normally if if we're taking a receiver in the second or third round it's because he's a really good real life player. So that's made me more nervous
67:42on Rice. I still think he's a good pick in the third but definitely less of a priority and I'm kind of breaking ties
67:49against him in that two three turn range.
67:51>> Yeah. I I I wonder if there's anybody who has a a larger disparity between where they're going this year and like reddraft and best
68:02ball and then like their dynasty >> value because I mean probably not going to get another contract from the Chiefs with all the stuff that he's been
68:13through and then if he's on another team like what is what does his role look like if he's if he's just like not
68:18catered to the extent that he is by Andy Reed Yeah, there's a little bit of a Deontay Johnson sort of thing with him where
68:27like I think we like everyone knows I think even the teams know like this is the guy draws targets at a really high rate but maybe
68:37that's not even awesome for you as an offense.
68:40>> He's like too he's too comfortable of a target for like what you're trying to do. And yeah, I mean obviously you got
68:48off the- field stuff with Rice where how does that go with a new team? It's not great if they don't, you know, if they
68:56head into the season without him having a contract and then there's any kind of performance related stuff with whether it's coming off a knee injury or
69:04whatever else like Cyrus Allen looking really good.
69:08You know, maybe they're curious about like what someone else in kind of his role looks like. So, this is all like
69:16unlikely. I think I think the most likely thing is that Rice just kind of does Rice stuff, but having a guy in
69:23Allen that could maybe have a really good connection with Mahomes as well definitely makes me at least a bit more nervous about Rice at that two three
69:30turn.
69:31>> Go Stra here with the >> Yeah, >> Demo and Nico.
69:36>> I love it.
69:44And then we got Hunter and a Conquo. Did >> that guy auto pick? That was quick.
69:48>> That was quick.
69:51>> A Conquo is really interesting here.
69:54>> I would do it. I don't have a ton of a Conquo stacked with Daniels.
69:57>> Yeah, let's do it.
70:01>> Not as expensive as it used to be since the dig signing.
70:06>> Yeah, it's it's actually kind of nice.
70:10Um, Dan Quinn made this like kind of off-handed comment. Oh, sorry.
70:16U Yeah, go ahead.
70:17>> Did we invent this? Right. Fantasy football people invented the Rice isn't getting a second contract. BS. Dude is a top 10 projected fantasy points per game
70:25receiver, but I don't think we've invented it. He's not signed after the year.
70:30>> This is normally when you would get a second contract, right? So, I don't think we've invented it.
70:36>> Pretty influential if we did, though.
70:38>> [laughter] >> all the all the NFL >> because the Chief the Chiefs aren't >> evenly doing it. So >> yeah, [laughter]
70:46>> where do you get your ideas?
70:48>> Yeah, >> Chiefs.
70:50>> They they apparently do uh follow Coach Speak Index.
70:54>> Beautiful.
70:54>> We heard from Ryan Paganetti, I think his name is, who uh who used Coach Speak Index when he was with uh some former
71:03NFL teams being like, "Hey, this coach is not reliable. Let's not listen to this. [laughter] Um, yeah, Dan Dan Quinn made this kind
71:14of off-handed comment, I think, in yesterday's presser about their preseason game, how they didn't see as many like tight end seam downfield
71:24throws as they would like to. And I was like, "Oh, okay. Interesting."
71:30because that's exactly what he's what what they talked about with Chicka Conquo and like how they sold a Conquo on on on coming to Washington was like
71:39this would be your role is this kind of like downfield and like seam seam throws and that kind of stuff. So that's pretty
71:46cool.
71:48>> That is cool.
71:51Where did Digs go here? Uh wow 804 88 for Digs. Lemon fell all the way to the 10th.
72:00Uh that certainly would have been nice if he got back to 1011, but we uh we took golf in the ninth.
72:07>> I'm surprised that Conpsion is is not kind of like shooting up draft boards more. Like the the the rushing stuff
72:16that they gave him in the preseason was very bullish.
72:21Yeah, I think uh I think the Boston hype has kept Conpsion in check a bit, but Conpsion has also had a strong training
72:29camp and I think has the more fantasy friendly role and I think they're very excited to have like a real outside
72:35receiver in Boston. Uh but I still feel a lot better about Conpsion scoring fantasy points than than Boston. And I think he's, you know, just got a more
72:44fancy friendly profile, probably a shorter ADOT, potentially some rushing.
72:50I agree with you that that was that was bullish, a versatile type of piece for them. He's more likely to be kind of the
72:55Z Flowers uh in the Mon system.
72:59Caniglier asking if there's any news on Darren Waller Dave Canales in his August 13th presser was asked what he likes about Waller. Said really just the route
73:10craft. He's fast. He's 66. So he really creates a dynamic possibility. And then also said this is a competition. He knows that he understands that this is
73:20part of the deal.
73:23>> H [clears throat] I mean I don't think you signed Darren Waller to not to plan behind your tavon Sanders though.
73:31>> Yeah. Hey, so they they wanted to get a look at JT Sanders like Canales said that before the the their first
73:38preseason game and then we saw like three targets in the first drive or two to JT Sanders and then we saw them sign Darren
73:47Waller. [laughter] >> Yeah, that's not great. [laughter] >> Yeah, it tells you that tells you
73:58something for sure, >> man. Man, >> Sam Sam Sherman got to be crying with those Mitchell Evans bags. He's
74:08>> Yeah, I don't know that he was actually drafting Mitchell Evans as well.
74:12>> No, no, no. It was like It was like a big big bit with him. I think he showed that he had like one one chair of him,
74:18you know.
74:23>> Yeah. It would be funny if um Sam like has just like 40% Jonathan Brooks.
74:35>> He loves doing it.
74:36>> He loves it with Jackson Smith and Jigba. He did it with >> Burden last year.
74:42>> Yeah. I mean, if you're going to do it, you should win the whole thing with it.
74:45That's how I I think that's the best. If you're gonna do that bit, that bit's most effective if you you win two mill.
74:53Hunter almost came. Oh no, Tucker. I I I uh I misread that.
74:58>> Yeah, I was hoping for Tucker or or Hunter here.
75:03>> D Lynch's Broken Our Hearts before.
75:06Let's see what he does here.
75:10>> He did week 17 double elite tight end, >> Cyrus Allen.
75:16>> Let's do it. Look at >> that.
75:18Travis, >> let's take a corner.
75:20167.
75:22>> You don't want to take a quarterback in the 150s?
75:25>> No.
75:25>> But in the 160s, >> that's exactly >> interceptions. You know, that's exactly where you want to take a [laughter] quarterback.
75:33>> Do pick sixes not count?
75:37>> We should check. We actually might need to check if Travis Hunter gets credit for pick sixes. He should. It's a
75:44touchdown, baby.
75:45>> That's right.
75:46If you get it for like special teams then >> Yeah.
75:50>> dude, what do you think about Jacobe Lane here?
75:53>> Okay, sure.
75:56Jacobe Lane's uh had an incredible camp.
76:00>> I'm I'm thinking about getting very aggressive with my Jacobe Lane ranking.
76:06>> How aggressive?
76:09>> Still thinking about it. [laughter] We We'll see.
76:15Well, >> yeah. I mean, I think with like Cyrus Allen and Caleb Douglas off the board, like you have kind of the green light
76:21for whatever rookie you want to do.
76:23>> Yeah.
76:24>> And Lane is in, you know, a better offense than Douglas for sure. And I think more likely I I would take Lane's
76:31week one routes over Allens.
76:34>> Would you?
76:35>> Yeah, I think so.
76:36>> Yeah.
76:37>> Um, and then it's which guy's good, but I also like the Lane is good bet better than this than the Allen is good bet.
76:43Even though Allen's had a really good camp, >> I mean, everything is really starting to match up pretty well for for Jacobe
76:50Lane. Like they when they when they drafted him, Eric Eric Dosta was saying, "Hey, large catch radius, phenomenal hands kind of player that we haven't had
76:59here lately. Offers a different dynamic.
77:01talked about how Lamar hasn't had this like bigbodied downhill receiver, you know, besides end of his career, DeAndre Hopkins and I
77:13think like Odell um one year and then um let me find this Jesse Mentor
77:24quote here. Um, yeah, like the last thing that Mentor said, uh, I think one of the last things in in this interview was with with Kay
77:34Adams was like over the middle of the field, downfield, in the red zone. And then we saw all that stuff in the
77:41preseason game. We saw him in the middle of the field. We saw him downfield. We saw him in the red zone. Um, during that
77:48game also, they did a an interview with Lamar. And of course, they're asking him about Jacobe Lane. And I mean, Lamar
77:55seems to really love this guy. They have a good connection in in practice. You got their offensive coordinator comping
78:03him to Mike Thomas about these like big sticky hands. He has like 10 and a half inch hands. Um Jesse Mentor said he's
78:13like a vacuum cleaner with his hands. I mean, it's it's so much bullish stuff.
78:20I think he can pay off here by being like Lamar's Kahan booty, >> you know, because you do have some
78:31questions with his profile on the separation. like that is a real issue and I don't think something that everyone was just wrong on from you know
78:42both like charting it you know you know Matt Harmon's talked about separation issues with him but also like the numbers point to you know some
78:50separation issues as well so and where his production was really driven was touchdowns um you know and kind of the the tighter window where he can use the
79:00hands and just the you know he's a he's a reasonably guy. But I mean, if he's just like a a guy that Lamar has a great
79:09downfield connection with, then like I'm I'm kind of in on that. If if we're getting I mean, Michael Thomas stuff implies like slot usage and and some,
79:19you know, kind of like that they're not just asking him to go be an X.
79:24>> Mhm. Um, so yeah, I mean if if they if any of that's true, then he can smash the 15th round price even though it's a lot more
79:32expensive than it used to be.
79:36Yeah.
79:38Omar Cooper falls to the 16th. Um, I'm still, you know, I'm I'm going to be in on Cooper in the in the 16th round. Like
79:46that is just really cheap for a first round receiver. I recognize he's not going to be a week one starter. Isaiah
79:52Williams looks to be the week one starter there out of the slot. It's the Jets. Adnai Mitchell, you know, has real
79:58life value as a downfield guy. Garrett Wilson's a target earner. Um, and probably has an awesome target share.
80:06Kenyan Sadi will probably play more as the season goes on. So, you know, people I think are rightfully like, yeah, this
80:13isn't as fun as I was hoping it might be, but I don't know, man. like 180s for a guy they took in the first round. Like
80:22we're going to see some Omar Cooper this year. It's not like he's gonna be blocked >> for the whole season, you know?
80:29>> Yeah. We got in in this same interview with T Media that Frank Reich did, he talking about Bree Hall earlier,
80:37he also made this comment talking about Garrett Wilson, how he had this conversation with Garrett Wilson that like you're going to be the guy, but
80:45we're going to spread it around. And uh All right, we're on the clock here.
80:50>> Ridley, top of the kick, Aton, Judy, Fmouth, Helm, Branch. We move down here.
80:56>> I'm Wait, we have London, right? Um, yeah, I guess I'm um I don't know what to make. Oh,
81:08I'll finish this real quick, but um yeah, right saying that um Garrett Wilson all about the team. Sure, he wants the ball all the time, but it's
81:16not that selfish thing. We're going to spread the ball around, and I want the guys to know that.
81:25>> Yeah. I mean, that's say mostly something I don't care about that much, but um here, let's make our pick. K dot and Zachariah Branch at the
81:36top. I I like both those.
81:38>> Yeah, let's branch. Let's >> Okay.
81:40>> Double it up.
81:42>> So, yeah. I mean, I think this is one of those spots where coaches don't have control of who gets the ball at
81:49receiver. They can they can call plays with guys in mind unless it's literally a screen, you know, and even then you
81:55kind of have to execute it. But that's about as close as you can get. And then you can obviously have the guy be the
82:01first read, but you know, like if a guy gets a first read target on 24% of his routes, that's elite.
82:10>> Mhm.
82:10>> That's elite stuff. So you can't, you know, like they're not like you're kind of always uh spreading it out to an extent in terms of like
82:20what the play calls are, but then like Adnai Mitchell might be the first to read and not get targeted cuz he's not
82:28open. But you know who is open? Garrett Wilson. So I I just kind of doubt that it is really truly spread out where
82:36Wilson's going to be installed in a in a pretty good role that sets him up. Maybe it's like a 20% first street target rate
82:43per route kind of role. 21% not like super elite, but pretty damn good. He's just going to earn targets on top of
82:48that. Like he's one of the safest bets in the league to earn targets beyond whatever Frank Reich has in mind. So,
82:54I'm not real worried about that. It is interesting from a what this offense going to try to do. Like the potential
83:01for him to just kind of be JSN and and completely hog everything is is obviously lower if that's how they're viewing it. Um,
83:09and you know that leaves some room for Mitchell and Cooper and potentially Sadiq as well.
83:14>> Yeah. Depending on where he's at.
83:16>> Yeah. Cuz he he was getting what, like a 33% target share or something like that.
83:23>> Like last season and and and in recent years, which is a lot of that is because they had like nobody else at receiver. They had like
83:32Allen Lazard as as wide receiver, too.
83:35And because it's this runheavy passing game that or sorry runheavy offense that I think kind of limits like the passing in a more I think with more dropbacks
83:44you would it's kind of easier to have the target shares generally more spread out um where like the whole kind of you
83:52know we see this in Seattle to an extent where it's like the system is built around creating these these bigger play
83:58opportunities for for JSN and when you have those you you you run them through JSN you know it's like you you have the
84:05defense finally, you know, potentially ready to to offer up a big play opportunity and I think at that point you you run it through. We've seen this
84:14with some of the more uh run ccentric offenses is like alpha wide receiver one target shares a little easier.
84:22>> Somebody asking in chat if you're avoiding puka because of a rumor of suspension. Didn't didn't it feel like the NFL kind of handed out all the
84:31suspensions the other day? like they they like a bunch of suspensions came through that the NFL handed down.
84:39>> I I don't think Puka will get suspended and I wouldn't be avoiding him at 104.
84:44If I was at the 104, I I would take him.
84:46I think if he does get suspended, it'll be a game, maybe a couple games, but I I don't think he gets suspended
84:53ultimately.
84:54>> Yeah.
84:55>> So, I think they they wanted to kind of through Sher put out like, "Hey, we're >> you've been a bad boy. We could suspend
85:03you. We could, you know, don't do other stuff.
85:10>> Your final warning.
85:12>> Yeah.
85:15But I mean, if they suspend him, it's the whole it's the story of the Thursday night game, >> right?
85:20>> Right. That's like these these are showcase games for the NFL.
85:24I think I think you want to kind of third quarter kind of bury the talking points of like, you know, Puka's changed
85:30and stuff. you know, he went to he went to this facility, all that stuff.
85:34>> I I do think that like maybe we should consider like maybe it should be like one quarter per
85:45tooth mark in the future, you know, >> a quarter. Yeah. I mean, that that maybe would be what, like a two game,
85:55>> I think for him it'd be about four. Like there were a lot of teeth in there.
86:00Okay, >> that was a big That was a big mark.
86:04>> Yeah, I think I that seems fair if you wanted to if you wanted to go based on the number of teeth.
86:12But I I I don't think that's how they're going to do it.
86:16>> You don't think they have a a teeth rubric?
86:19>> I don't think they have a >> NFL offices. Goodell is just like I'll say this. If the NFL wanted that in
86:28the next CBA, I bet they could get it.
86:31They do. They do seem to get what they want in these negotiations, but I don't think it's going to be part of it.
86:39Darnell Washington, he played more snaps than Frier Mute the other night, right?
86:47I >> I think McCarthy is trying to go back in time, man. He's trying to live in the 90s.
86:52>> Mhm.
86:52>> That 90s era football.
86:54>> 90s football. That's That's what he said. It is what he said.
86:59Uh Ted Hurst, Nick Singleton here. I think both are pretty interesting. We have Gibbs, ETN, Montgomery, and Bill at running back. We're eight receivers deep
87:09with London Collins, Golden Worthy, Travis Hunter, Jacobe Lane, Calvin Ridley, and Zachariah Branch. Um, we also have Jaden Daniels, CJ Stout and
87:21Jared Goff at quarterback and then Chica Conquo, Darno Washington, and Sam Laaporta at tight end. So, balance is pretty interesting here.
87:31>> I do too.
87:32>> You better delete Ricky Pierce all off your rankings so you don't accidentally end up with them.
87:38>> Oh, these this is just ADP. I don't have rankings here.
87:40>> Okay.
87:41>> Yeah.
87:44Yeah, they the rank matches the Yeah, if you don't put rankings in, it just uses the ADP as the rank.
87:53>> This guy saying you can't bite with one tooth. It's always going to be at least an upper and a lower. Not if you're like
87:57an offensive lineman or a tight end.
88:01>> Some of Some are missing some teeth.
88:05>> Yeah. An odd number of C and a three quarter suspension would be an interesting one. [laughter] He's playing in the fourth quarter.
88:18Bullish. [laughter] Blessings are here, brothers. Let the
88:29coach speak. Flood my eardrums.
88:35How about the uh Greg Rosenthal jumping on the Charlie Kohler Express?
88:43>> Yeah, Greg Rosenthal. Uh yeah, what what did uh this is uh uh analyst speak?
88:50>> Yeah.
88:50>> What what what do you have Greg Rosenthal rated? And uh >> he is what did he say?
88:55>> He's pretty reliable. He was Yeah.
88:58Remember the like Puka?
89:01Was it like PCL or knee or something a couple seasons ago during the during the offseason? Somebody asked him a question
89:09about drafting Puka. He was like, can't really talk about it, but I wouldn't.
89:19>> But I wouldn't and you shouldn't, but not going to talk about.
89:21>> Yeah, hypothetically speaking.
89:26>> Yeah, the colar stuff seems pretty good.
89:29He's like moving around and stuff. Mhm.
89:33You do like uh what? So, wait, what did he what did he say?
89:37He here, let me pull it up here. He tweeted out on August 12th.
89:45Thoughts from Chargers camp.
89:48Lots of Charlie Kohler.
89:51>> That's the first one.
89:52>> In versatility, the very first one and lo in capital letters. I don't know why the S was lowercase.
90:02Uh, but [snorts] lots of Charlie Cola.
90:07>> That's a pretty good Greg. It's a You kind of the uh >> Greg Greg Greg's [laughter] no Gregs.
90:14>> He's got He spells it differently, which I do not agree with.
90:20>> You're not 60% G.
90:23>> No, I'm not. I'm 50% G. People ask me when I tell them it's Greg, they say, "Two G's." I say, "Yeah, one on each
90:32end."
90:40One on each end.
90:46And also he said, "Mike McDaniel personnel allows them to run everything." Well, that was from from McD McDaniel said that which which we
90:55talked about.
90:57>> Yeah, it's pretty cool.
90:59>> Pretty cool. [snorts] >> I mean, it's probably not a big deal that Jim Harbaugh every time he's asked about the tight end room, Charlie Kohler
91:06is a first name. Just probably not. It's probably not >> even if he's asked about Gadson. Dude, I This was what I think last Wednesday we
91:15did a a rankings call and I read the quote from Harbaugh on Gadston.
91:22>> Yeah.
91:23>> And was literally like I hadn't I hadn't read it yet. So I I literally was like what what what do you have a coach?
91:30>> I bet Sack had but I read it and I'm reading it aloud like for the first time.
91:35I was blown away. like it was the most bearish thing I've ever heard outside of those Kendra Miller reverse drum beat
91:43coats.
91:44>> This isn't this wasn't even like the first Aronda Gadston won that he was asked. Um this was like just the most recent. They
91:53asked him how how is the development and Gadston's game coming along? He said good, really good. He's got two great players in Charlie Kohler and David
92:01Njoku to model that with how they approach blocking and the physicality and the position and also be very effective pass catchers and route
92:10runners.
92:14>> Yeah.
92:15>> Yeah. He's going to play a ton. He's going to be involved.
92:18>> He really is.
92:19>> Deal with it. Make your peace.
92:22>> Kick as well.
92:24>> Uh is he the pick if he makes it? Oh yeah.
92:31Yeah. Charlie Charlie Kar man.
92:33>> Boom.
92:34>> Boom.
92:36>> All right. The team is in the books. We have uh Jamir Gibbs, Travis ETN, David Montgomery, and Bill at running back. Just the four running
92:48back build. at wide receiver Drake London, Nico Collins, Matthew Golden, Xavier Worthy, Travis Hunter, Jacobe Lane, Calvin Erdley, Zachariah Branch,
92:58and Ted Hurst. Uh, at quarterback we have Jaden Daniels with Bill and Chica Conquo. We have uh Jared Goff with
93:08Leaporta and Gibbs. And then we have Strad with Nico Collins and David Montgomery. So, a pretty pretty fun stacked team here at tight end. Leaporta
93:18Aonquo Darnell Washington and of course Charlie Kar who's moving around a ton and who Ronda Gaston can model his game
93:27after as a receiver.
93:32>> My god.
93:32>> Seems kind of nuts, but that's seem that's somehow where we're at in August 2026.
93:38Uh yeah, it's crazy. This this is actually I just because I knew there was more to the quote here. This is the end of this
93:46quote. This is what really really got me. I think that's something this this is after so and can also be effective
93:52pass catchers and route runners. I think that's something that has really clicked and helped the reonda something to aspire to. If one man does something
94:00then another man can see it, learn from it and then do it [laughter] like this.
94:05This reads like like a deep thoughts.
94:08You ever jack candy? Deep thoughts.
94:11>> Yeah. That's how it reads to me. Like it's just so like Yeah.
94:17>> scrolling down the down the [laughter] screen.
94:19>> Yeah.
94:21>> If if one man does something then another man can see it, learn from it, and then do it. Like [laughter] that's
94:27just not a guy who is your starter at all.
94:31>> That that is what you say about a backup. Uh which is >> Yeah. kind of shocking. Like I didn't think that's where we'd be, but it seems
94:38like where we are. He's he's talking like uh the same way that like John Oaf has been talking in all his stump
94:46speeches.
94:52There's hope for a better future for Aronda Gatston, but not for a couple years.
94:56>> That's right. [laughter] Aronda Gatston 2028.
95:02>> 2028. [laughter] Oh man, >> he's running with the 30. I guess he'd be in the final year of his deal then,
95:09right? Yeah. Maybe 202 might be 2029. I guess he'd be sworn in in 2029, >> right?
95:15>> That's the way that would go. Yeah.
95:17Yeah. [snorts] >> All right. Uh let's get out of here.
95:21What? Tell the people what you got going on. Coach Speak Index. I mean, that the Harball quote is worth the uh the
