0:00Welcome to the Legendary Upside podcast and YouTube channel. My name is Pat Cran. You can follow all of my content at legendary upside.com. With me today,
0:06Greg Branos of the Coach Speak Index.
0:09Greg, how's it going?
0:12>> Pat, I'll be honest, buddy. I've I've had I've had better weeks in my life.
0:18Um, >> yeah.
0:19>> Yeah. I know I I know a lot of people are are are have been asking about the story. Uh, so
0:26may as well uh may as well give it to him. On [clears throat] on Friday uh afternoon here, I went down to walked down to Target to
0:38get six cups of Yoplay very vanilla yogurt and a box of uh 10 grape Uncrustables.
0:50as all as all great stories start.
0:55And then I was walking back here in Hollywood, California to my place and there is a there's this kind
1:04of like back side street that I never ever ever go down at night and I very rarely go down during the day because
1:15it's it's a low traffic area. There's there's a couple businesses, but like all the entrances are on different streets and stuff, so it's pretty
1:23pretty low traffic, but it's a it's a little bit of a shortcut. And I had the I had the cold yogurt and
1:30>> Uncrustables.
1:32And I'm like, "All right, well, I'll just I mean, it takes like a minute to to walk down the street." So, uh so I go
1:41down the side street. I'm listening to Establish the Edge. God, got my AirPods in.
1:47>> Um, bet those guys didn't think that they would factor into this story at all, but uh, [laughter] >> blame blame you guys a little bit for
1:57putting out such [laughter] engrossing content.
2:01>> Yeah, you weren't quite as in the moment as you might have been otherwise.
2:04>> Yeah. Um, but anyway, I'm I'm walking down. It's about 5:20 p.m. broad daylight
2:13here in LA and uh all of a sudden somebody grabs me from behind and then two other people are
2:24immediately on me and uh the guy that grabs me is saying, "Get it. Get it."
2:31and they start grabbing at my watch um which I was wearing um and will not wear on any more watchs around Los
2:43Angeles um from now on. But uh so they're like trying to get the watch off my wrist
2:52and I just kind of instinctively take my right hand and like clasp it onto spoiler alert I kept the watch uh
3:02clasp it onto the watch and around my wrist wrist and just kind of pin it to my left wrist and we're struggling. I
3:10notice that one of the guys who is in front of me to the left has a like a black matte Glock
3:21in his left hand. Um, but he's not pointing it at me. It's kind of like down towards the ground to the side.
3:31Uh, and then they get me up against this fence there. As we're struggling, I I say,
3:42"Whoa, chill, man. There's a cop behind you." And they did not fall for that trick.
3:53>> You had >> got to give it up to them.
3:55>> Got to check. But I start I start yelling police and help and they slam me down on the sidewalk and start punching
4:06and kicking me in the head and the back and the ribs.
4:13And then I start doing these screams that are a mix of like a banshee and a pig and a pterodactyl. uh just trying to
4:24get like eyes >> out on the like trying to get hey >> something's happening, [laughter] you know, uh maybe called call the cops. And
4:32this ends up working. This group comes out uh at the end of the block and a few
4:41people come out to the left uh like back of me and one guy is recording and
4:49starts shouting at them and I see a car pull up and I'm thinking, "Oh, this might like this this is a civilian who's
5:00who's pulling up to help out." Uh but then they run off to the car, jump in the car >> and take off
5:10and uh yeah, then called uh called an ambulance, called the cops, ended up going to the urgent care and ER, got CT
5:18scans and uh and X-rays. Everything came back clean, no fractures. Uh didn't didn't even need stitches. cuz I thought maybe I need stitches for for my lip,
5:28but um yeah, got got away, you know, relatively clean from this.
5:36Dude, I'm really glad you're okay. It's super scary. Um Emwald saying, "I've been mugged before and regardless of if you got your [ __ ] away, it's not very
5:47It's very traumatizing and scary and I hope you take care of yourself and are okay."
5:52>> Yeah, definely that. Yeah, I I appreciate that. Um, these guys just these guys had the wrong they had the wrong strategy. They uh they tried to
6:03inflict pain on me to to make me give this up. And what what what they didn't know is that this this is my third
6:08straight year of having big bags of of Marshon Lloyd. Okay. Oh my god.
6:14I'm used to paid buddy. I had 30% Kim's Cataboo and Tucker Craft last year.
6:19All right.
6:22I'm not stuck in here with you. You're stuck in here with me. [laughter] you.
6:29Bunch of [ __ ] [ __ ] [laughter] >> Could even fracture anything. Threeon one. You [ __ ] losers.
6:35>> Suck [laughter] a [ __ ] dick.
6:39>> Oh man. Yeah. Going full roar shack on those guys. [laughter] Oh man. Well, again, super glad you're
6:49you're you're okay and you not only are here podcasting, but you have probably the longest list of coach speak to go through of anything
7:01we've covered this entire summer. So, truly brought it today. Uh, anything that you wanted to to kick off the coach speak with?
7:10>> Sure. PE people people are asking about the watch and prove prove you got the I got >> Okay, >> I got the watch. Okay, we got it. We're
7:19good. Um, yeah, I mentioned I mentioned online that this was uh this is a watch that my dad left me when he passed 5
7:27years ago. So, I'm I'm just like not keen at all at on uh >> on giving this [ __ ] up. So, big big [ __ ]
7:34you uh to those guys and anybody else.
7:38Um, yeah, we got a lot of coach speak.
7:41Uh, not [laughter] not a ton of uh teams back yet. Like everybody gets back tomorrow, but we got so much stuff
7:49from the handful of teams that are uh that are back. And you want to start it off with the Ravens? We can do that.
8:00>> Let's do it. Yeah.
8:02>> Uh, got got stuff on basically the entire receiver room. Uh Jesse Mentor was asked uh why he thinks Zay Flowers
8:12could could continue to take a big jump this year. How big of a focal point does Mentor want to make him in the offense?
8:19And uh Mentor said he's everything that you want. When you watch him in practice, you realize that he has a very
8:25very unique skill set for what people would say is a smaller receiver. He's twitchy enough, explosive enough. He's willing to make tough catches. He's got
8:33a mentality that nobody can cover him.
8:35He can play any receiver position. He's not just a slot guy. He's not just an outside guy. He's not just a gadget guy.
8:42He can do everything. He can be all of those things. I think our offensive coaches have a great plan and vision for
8:48maximizing the best players. And Z is certainly one of those guys. Quote, I look forward to him getting the ball in
8:56as many ways as possible. The more that guy touches the ball, the better we'll be. End quote. And then in this same
9:06interview uh that mentor did on the lounge podcast, they also asked him how he views the uh the young receivers in that
9:16receiver room. And he said it's opportunity, endless opportunity. We do have some established weapons on offense between Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry,
9:26Mark Andrews, Zay Flowers, Rashad Baitman. These guys are going to touch the ball. And this Rashad Baitman thing is is interesting because we got uh we
9:35we talked last week about Eric Dcasta talking up Rashad Baitman. It's it's very clear that they view this guy as clear wide receiver to for the Ravens.
9:47So this these other young guys I feel are are you know kind of fighting for wide receiver three. But he goes on to
9:56say that you know I expect these great battles. You're going to need guys that can do the dirty work, that can make
10:02clutch plays. When you look at Elijah Serat and Jacobe Lane, they have unique skill sets. Jacobe is a big big target
10:10with a big catch radius and a red zone weapon as proven in college making some really really crazy red zone catches.
10:16This is a lot of the stuff that we've heard about Jacobe Lane from the Ravens this off season is how big he is and
10:23what a good weapon he is in in the red zone. And then mentor said with Serat, the epitome of how Indiana played and
10:30won the national championship is watch his film from college and the toughness that he plays with and the clutch plays that the guy makes. So going back, you
10:40know, he says you need guys that can do do the dirty work. Uh you need guys that can make clutch plays. And then he says
10:46about Sat, this guy does the dirty work.
10:48This guy makes clutch plays. So that's a pretty nice uh match that we get there.
10:54And then he ends saying, "Uh, tight ends as well. I look forward to that. I think Devontes Walker is a guy that could take
11:00another step. He has his feet wet now and knows what it looks like." And that is the first mention that we have gotten
11:07about Devonte Walker this off season.
11:11Yeah, I saw that cuz you had noted this stuff. So I was I had read that and I saw the Devontes Walker mention which is
11:17the first time that you know I think you had you had mentioned last week or the week before that we literally haven't
11:23heard his name. So that jumped out to me that we did hear his name but then it came after the rookies which is you know
11:31I think telling you know at least a little bit especially because they haven't really been talking him up. Some beats have mentioned Tez Walker but he
11:39hasn't really been uh like literally at all mentioned. So, uh, that was intriguing. And then, you know, in kind of a in a bearish way for Walker, but
11:50intriguing for the other guys. Um, Baitman is someone I'm wondering, yeah, if if kind of his role is a little bit
11:57more solid, especially begin the season than I was thinking, you know, a few weeks ago. The Sat stuff. Sat's been a
12:05player that I've been excited about. um you know with having a a clear path to playing time out of the slot potentially
12:13being that big slot type uh which they've mentioned he they view him as >> and then you have a team that
12:21probably will play fewer two tight end sets this year. They lose Kolar who was actually playing ahead of Andrews sometimes in 12. uh they would have
12:32colar come on the field as like a traditional Y and then keep likely in um and then sometimes they would play 13
12:38with colar. So you don't have colar anymore. You obviously also don't have likely sat has profiled a little bit to me like
12:47it the way I'm thinking about like could he be kind of a likelyesque player in 11 when you're talking about someone doing the dirty work that can
12:55mean blocking you know that can mean kind of playing a little bit of a big slot role where they lean on you uh you
13:03know to actually help out in the run game a bit. So that that's definitely intriguing. Sat's been someone I've I've been higher on, you know, than the
13:11market basically the whole way. Uh I liked his profile. Uh I'm not like super overweight on him, but I'm I'm slightly
13:18overweight on him. Um which is >> I'm pretty overweight.
13:21>> Yeah. Okay. [laughter] So, we're we're both believers. But yeah, I mean I think the Go ahead. No, I I was just going to say I I I have now
13:31switched over to trying to take a good deal of Rashad Baitman >> in the final >> couple rounds if if he's just going to
13:39be out there so much. I I I really think they're going to open up the season with Rashad Baitman at X, Z Flowers at Z, and
13:47then Elijah Surat big slot.
13:52>> Yeah, that's that's what I'm hoping. I mean, man, that'd be that'd be pretty nice. I I guess what I'm wondering is if
13:59so big slot is like a 40% route participation role because Lane is mixing in two and you have Flowers in the slot. So it's like Flowers comes in
14:09the slot, Lane's the other wide receiver alongside Baitman outside and that's that's one version of 11. You know, there's another version of 11 with Salot
14:18Sarat in the slot. Maybe Baitman or or Lane even plays a little in the slot.
14:22So, it's I I it's kind of about how much of each of these rookies we're going to see. Um, you know, because technically
14:32Sarra could be a starter and not really play anything close to a full-time role.
14:37Um, but but that, you know, it's it's been encouraging on those guys. They they seem to have a clear path. They the
14:43biggest thing that would hurt is if they were to sign, you know, a Debo or Diggs, >> but it's it sounds like they're out on
14:50that. I I think there was a report today from maybe it was Jeff Siebeck about how they are not going to sign Diggs and
14:58they're kind of fine with the with the receiver room as it is and Eric Dostaded kind of mentioned that about a week ago
15:08um when he was on uh uh this Vinnie and Haney uh radio show about like yeah we might
15:19you know if we if If there are injuries in camp and we're down bodies, maybe we'll look around at some guys, bring
15:25some guys in. But like, we're pretty happy with the with the receiver room we have right now. And we had gotten that
15:30quote a few weeks ago from Jesse Mentor about how he thinks between Serat and Lane, how, you know, one of those guys
15:41>> he thinks are are are kind of likely to >> to hit this year. saying in an ideal world both of them, but you know, I
15:48think one of them will will hit and uh yeah, like I I wish I'd been taking some more Baitman up to this point. I'd
15:58rather it kind of be split.
15:59>> I think Baitman's going to steam up. I think you you can sit there and take Baitman. Baitman's just such a low
16:05ceiling kind of guy where like we know what he is. He's not going to like Flowers is the number one, you know?
16:12It's it's it's tough for me to believe even in a new system that Bayon will just like crush this year. It's more
16:17like, you know, if it's a hit, it's probably going to feel like Z Jones when he was in the first year with the Jags where
16:23it's like, hey, this guy was the wide receiver too on this team and >> he was free and that was a mistake,
16:31which is nice, but I don't think he's ever not gonna be basically free. Like maybe he costs a 16th or 17th rounder
16:37instead of 18th. But >> yeah, there there would have to be a more consistent and like bigger >> drum beat.
16:47>> The drum beat is like he's going to play. But we kind of knew that. It's just like we're sick of that. We're
16:53really sick of it.
16:55>> Yeah.
16:56>> But it's going to happen again. And so, >> but attached to Lamar and X attached to Lamar like >> in
17:03>> and also like downside that he wouldn't play that much with them drafting two rookies. So, like where did where is
17:09that? So, I think uh you know when we review the rankings and stuff I I do wonder if maybe we're a touch too low on
17:16Baitman because it seems like especially you know when we're when we're looking at the beginning of the year like he he's gonna be out there.
17:23>> He's clearly gonna be out there. Um, flowers. He's someone that I've wished I took more of early when he was cheaper.
17:33I'm still I'm at 12% flowers, but it's like I was at 14% and I've dropped. I'm just not taking them as much anymore.
17:41So, I'm still drafting some of them, but I'm not getting like big big bags. And I regret not taking him more aggressively
17:50when he was going in the fourth round because what we've been getting on him is not surprising to me. Like we're
17:58they're like, "Hey, he can play in the slot. He can play out wide. He can run intermediate routes. You can get him the
18:04ball underneath. He can get open deep.
18:06Like he's an all-around type of receiver. He's a little undersized.
18:10Maybe he's not like a superstar level, but this is a good number one receiver and would be like a super super high-end
18:17number two receiver if you were fortunate enough to be in that situation. Um, and it's a new offensive coordinator, new head coach, and they
18:27might have different ideas for the for the ways to use Z Flowers than the the previous guys. Those ideas could even
18:35include red zone targets which he did not get in the under the previous and then of course likely being gone could
18:43could help there. Andrews fell off a bit last year. He could fall off again. He's an older player. Like this could this
18:49could change up the Flowers bet a little bit where he's been a guy that has struggled to score touchdowns. If he
18:56scores touchdowns, he will be a high-end wide receiver in fantasy. And I think the market is kind of baked that in
19:06correctly. And this is the way I read this is basically just confirmation that moving him up into that mid3 was a good idea. [laughter] And he's and
19:18he's like pretty fairly priced there. I don't know if he moves up on this.
19:22That's probably like double counting the upside that this new situation gives.
19:27But it's still nice to hear.
19:29>> Yeah, he he he is starting to steam up.
19:31um towards [snorts] that two three turn now. I've seen >> Yeah.
19:35>> seen me go right right around there. Um so yeah. Uh next, >> how about we do the Jacksonville Jaguars?
19:47>> I heard you I heard you talk about this one on [laughter] one of the Chasings.
19:53Jacob.
19:55Jacob had to go get a cigarette to uh to light up, but uh yeah, we got we got >> And then I kind of I I uh I definitely
20:05kind of skipped the line on this one. I was like, I'm not waiting till Monday.
20:09You can't you you I mean it's you're doing you messaged me. You were like, "Wait [laughter] until you see what I'm
20:14about to post."
20:16>> I hadn't even posted it yet. I was watching it on uh on my phone and transcribing it. I was like, I got to
20:23let Pat know [laughter] ASAP. I got I got to get the Pat signal out.
20:27>> Thank you. [laughter] >> Like just just you wait, buddy.
20:35>> I literally You sent it to me and then I checked and it hadn't been posted yet. I was like, "Oh, man. I need to [laughter]
20:40see this."
20:40>> Yeah. It was still like another 15 or or 20 minutes until I posted it because it was kind of a long
20:47>> interview that he did uh with with Peter Shreger there. I was hoping, by the way, that that when uh when when Jake was
20:55smoking that sig that that that black squirrel would make an an appearance again and and and share the sig with him
21:02or something.
21:03>> A little squirrel sig.
21:04>> Yeah, we get like a little um adult Disney moment [laughter] >> there.
21:12Not even adult. It's something that Disney do back in the I mean Pinocchio is like smoking on Pleasure Pleasure Island in the what was that like the 40s
21:20or something?
21:20>> Was he? I didn't know Pinocchio was a smoker.
21:22>> Yeah. Oh yeah, dude. Go back.
21:24>> That's dangerous, dude. He's wood.
21:26Dude's [laughter] made out of wood.
21:30>> Well, was he was it was he a puppet? Get your boy. Get your [laughter] boy. He's >> He's smoking. He's made out of wood.
21:39They're saying Pinocchio doesn't burn.
21:41Pinocchio [laughter] burns.
21:42>> I've been watching the old brother.
21:45Let's go.
21:47>> Pinocchio doesn't burn. [laughter] >> Oh man. But yeah, this um this quote's pretty good. Uh on the
21:59Peter Shreger or on the Shreger Hour, Shreger asked Cohen about facial tootin.
22:06He said, "I I thought Toot had a really good spring in year one after coming from North Carolina Central and then
22:12Virginia Tech. He had a little bit of a learning curve with the protections and a lot of the things that comes with
22:17playing running back as a rookie. You look at the playoff game against Buffalo and look at some of the other games down
22:23in the red zone. He does a great job of finding the end zone. Quote, his yards after contact and rushing yards, man,
22:32when he can get going and get downhill.
22:34I mean, he was 428 coming out. He can fly. He was so conscientious about ball security last year and doing right.
22:41Okay, now Toutin, you got it. You understand it more now. Just go be you.
22:47Like, go do what got you here. Go be special. That's who you are. And we're definitely expecting Toutin to have a
22:55big year for us. End quote. And this is just so so much of the stuff that we had already heard from Liam Cohen about, you
23:04know, last year he was worried about the the the the ball security always, you know, kind of kind of two hands. That
23:10that that's the first thing in his mind thing he's always thinking about is >> securing the ball, but there is so much
23:15creativity there. He can make guys miss.
23:18He's really fast. And pe people people on Twitter love bringing up the uh not a single run over over 15 yards and like
23:27didn't make any anybody miss.
23:29>> Buddy, go back and look at his miss tackles forest in college. This guy can make guys miss. Uh look look at his 40
23:36time like you pointed out >> his breakaway rate as well. And like that's the more volatile thing, right?
23:42Like how many breakaway runs you're going to have. even if you're a good breakaway runner, you could not have very many breakaway runs, you know, over
23:49a a smallalish sample. He only had 83 carries last year. So, >> and twothirds of those were in the uh in
23:57in the middle like the AB uh mainly AB gaps and then C >> right >> as well, but uh not a lot of the outside
24:06stuff. Uh and also he had a lot of lot of short yardage >> runs. Well, ETN is more of a breakaway
24:12runner as well.
24:13>> So, it would, you know, it's like what they used him for was actually when you look at Bashalt Tutin coming in. I mean,
24:22I've talked about like his comps include guys like Kevin Coleman and Kenny Gainwell, like kind of these undersized like pass catchers, undersized breakaway
24:29runners. And so, what you would assume is like when he comes in that they're going to use him as kind of an explosion
24:36back, a lightning, you know, to someone else's thunder. That's not what they did. They used him basically as the thunder and uh and then ETN was the
24:46primary back and also kind of the explosion back. And ultimately I think that that could be really really good
24:56for Tuton if they now use him for both, right? Like you have the potential for like where Chris Rodriguez comes in. He
25:03he would be more of kind of that Thunder type of guy. That will suck for Toutin if that means that he is purely
25:09lightning and Rodriguez is thunder. But what if Toutton, and this quote I think goes to this idea, what if they trust
25:18him now >> to do the stuff a running back is supposed to do as a kind of an inside the tackles, you know, in between the
25:25tackles >> downhill type of runner, but they're also looking for him to be more explosive, which they know he can be.
25:33They they referenced the 428. That was his handtimed 40. He was officially 432.
25:39Both of those are really fast. I kind of like that he's saying I think he's the 428 one of those, not the 432. But
25:46either way, like he has really uh, you know, rare speed for the position and was a big-time breakaway runner in college. That's what I'm going to lean
25:56on when I think, can can he be explosive? What I've been excited about is the idea with with a very high
26:03success rate last year on a limited sample, but one that seems to have made an impression. What people sometimes like rib me for for looking at success
26:12rate. It's kind of more of a a boomer type stat, right? It's like it's just it's it's not as fun. It's not it's not
26:18the explosive runs. It's just are you doing what you're supposed to do. I swear coaches really love success rate.
26:25Like I think that is giving me a little bit more insight into trying to project roles. And when I hear stuff like this,
26:33I'm like that that he impressed them in terms of delivering on what he was supposed to do when he was out there.
26:41Yeah. He didn't have as many big plays as you would like, certainly as we would like as fantasy players, but I think he
26:47solidified his status with the team in his rookie season, which is a pretty big deal given that there's a wide openen
26:54backfield in Jacksonville now.
26:57>> Yeah. And we know how much, you know, you're talking about how how a lot of coaches are into success rate and we
27:05know that Liam Cohen also into into yards after contact, which he brings up here. So, it it is it's all the stuff we
27:12want to hear. It's a lot of the a lot of stuff that they that they have already been saying about Tootin this off
27:17seasonason, but it is I think one of the first times where they're like, "Yeah, we expect this guy to have a really big
27:22year first or or at least I think the first time from Cohen." I believe Gladstone actually said something similar several several
27:31weeks ago. But um al also funny to talk about [laughter] the success rate is is you know on um on first down it's
27:40getting 40% of the yardage and going back to that remember that Grant Udinsky quote about what we love about Chris Rodriguez is
27:50that he gets us into second and seven which is a failure according to >> that's a failure that's not Yeah. Yeah.
27:58Exactly. And Cohen has also also called him an added thump. Like he he he referred to Chris Rodriguez as an added
28:05thump before. So I I think they want Toutin to become the guy. Now he still has to go out and prove it. He still has
28:15to like go out and show that he can play with his creativity and not fumble and, you know, show good vision and get these
28:24get these breakaway runs and and and make guys miss in the NFL. But it's it's just all setting up for him.
28:31>> It it really is. Yeah. And so he had on 87 carries including the postseason, 83 in the regular season. But uh expanding
28:39that sample slightly, he gets up to a 48% success rate last year, which would be running back five just behind Kareem
28:48Hunt. um who was you know the big he was like goal lineback last year basically and and they leaned on him uh for a high
28:56consistency which he delivered without any explosiveness. So you're like what if this guy was running kind of like Kareem Hunt last year in both senses
29:05like in a disappointing way but also an impressive way for a rookie runner. what if he is able to bring that
29:12explosiveness he had in college uh and you know demonstrated should translate because he has 432 speed uh and is not like a super undersized back. He's you
29:23know he's kind of like he's short and he's you know not uh super heavy but he's still he's not like a tiny dude. Uh
29:30came in at 5'9 206. So yeah I mean he has the ability to be both. I don't think he's going to be like a
29:38touchdominant type of back, but I think he has the ability to be like a a starting running back that can be
29:44explosive and get goal line usage and get at least some receptions, which can be a smash in the fifth. You know,
29:52that's that's a that's a guy who can easily pay off a fifth round ADP. Maybe next year he's more of a two three turn
29:58type of bet. um you know, heading into year three off of a a really good season this year. Like I don't think we're
30:06looking at a guy who's probably like in the at the one two turn, I don't think.
30:11But, you know, I wouldn't rule out something like where Chase Brown landed in that kind of the middle of the second
30:16type of range. I think that's that's the upside that I'm hoping for. Uh but it's it's there. It is not, you know, you can
30:24beat an ADP with that kind of hit uh in the fifth.
30:27>> Yeah. Uh, and then we can talk about Travis Hunter real quick. In this same interview, Cohen was asked the plan for Travis
30:37Hunter in year two, and he was talking about how Hunter, you know, was hitting his stride when he got injured last
30:43year. Just had his first 100 yard game.
30:47Um, said, quote, "Look, he's going to play both sides of the football just like we planned to do when we drafted
30:52him, and that has not changed. Now, the percentage on one side versus the other, that's fluid. That's something that we have to continue to work through. But I
31:01just know the guy has worked his tail off this offseason to show his teammates that I'm going to be ready to go come
31:05training camp. I was just texting with him this past week and he's ready to go.
31:09End quote. And then Shreger said, "Hey, there's these reports that he is moving solely to quarterback. Are you guys abandoning your plan from a year ago?"
31:20And Liam Cohen just like laughs. He's shaking his head. and he goes, "No, we're not."
31:24>> And you tweeted out the video of this.
31:26>> Uh, somebody else tweeted out >> Oh, someone else tweeted out.
31:30>> Yeah, somebody else tweeted out the video of that. I put it in the Discord and like put in um in brackets that that he was laughing
31:38at this >> cuz it is it's like one of those things that's worth watching.
31:42>> You can see like, you know, like it is >> and and you know, you you have talked about the way people are saying things
31:51does matter. um obviously in these in these quotes and this one was just like he he you can tell like he's just like
32:00no dude like [laughter] we're not doing that.
32:02>> Yeah. He said quote look we'll have to figure out what the exact balance of it all is but he can do it. He will do it
32:09and I'm very excited to see what he adds to our football team this year. End quote. He also went on um to talk about
32:17how you know talk about his endurance, his ability to run forever. pretty cool to see uh when you see him practice in
32:24the summer heat and he's not dying or crushed or sweating. It's like, dude, what are you made of?
32:34>> This guy, this guy, this guy who they're saying might play some uh offense.
32:41Might play some offense this year, Pat.
32:44Yeah, I I keep I keep talking about this, you know, I I just think people have the framing backwards where it's
32:51like the Jaguars are sitting down and they're like, well, we've got Brian Thomas on the outside, we got Parker Washington in the slot and we got Jacobe
32:58Myers on the other outside. And I just like how do we get Hunter on the field here? Like there's not really room. So,
33:04let's just have him play cornerback. And you know, if there's if there's opportunity to get him on the field a little bit to play some receiver, like
33:10we'll do that.
33:12I don't think that that's what they're doing. I think they're going, we have the number two overall pick that we want
33:19to play both ways and he wants to play both ways and we believe that he is capable of playing both ways at a high
33:26level. That's our long-term plan for him. It's always been our long-term plan for him and nothing has changed. He's going to play more corner than he did
33:32last year when he was sometimes having games where he was doing like twothirds of his snaps on offense and and a third
33:37on uh defense or even more tilted offense. We're not really going to have that this year. It's going to be more,
33:43if anything, tilted the other way where maybe he's playing a third of the of the snaps on offense and and a lot more on
33:49defense. But he's capable of playing both ways week in week out. That's our starting point. This is the guy we've invested the most in of the entire room
34:00and we're going to figure out the rest of it from there. like that. I just I I believe pretty strongly that that is the
34:08way they're viewing this and it makes a lot of sense for them to view it that way, you know, given what they what they
34:13invested in him. So, yeah, you and and we got James Gladstone about a month or so ago saying like, listen, this Travis
34:21Hunter's dream has always been to play on both sides of the ball and we're going to help him fulfill that dream.
34:28And you know, you get these clips of Liam Cohen last year talking about, you know, they're they're they're asking him about Travis Hunter and like how shifty
34:37he is and making guys miss out there and Cohen's like, "Yeah, man. Like this guy's pretty nice with it, right? They
34:44he he brings a lot to the offense." So, when they're saying that it's that it's fluid, obviously game script plays so
34:50much into this, which which which makes it for reddraft kind of a a nightmare.
34:56Yeah.
34:56>> Like you're you're you're just never >> gonna I mean not never, but it's going to be because if there was an injury,
35:03you know, he would be >> Yeah. But but I'm I'm just saying that it is it's going to be really hard where
35:10if everybody's healthy to pick and be like, "Okay, this this is the week." Cuz cuz it'll have to be a thing of like
35:17they're behind in a game or the game is kind of close. If if a game is out of hand, I I I don't expect them to play
35:24Travis Hunter much on offense. Like why why why really would you need to in that case? Like use them when you really
35:32really need to use them. Uh in >> I think I think that makes sense. Yeah.
35:37>> But then there is that contingent value of any of these three guys get hurt.
35:44>> Yeah. I think you know Hunter is Hunter a target in reddraft in Dynasty 2. you laid out the case where he's he's less
35:50of a target in reddraft. Um but and I agree with that. I think he's a better baseball pick where when he has
35:59some big plays and randomly it feels like to us but not to the Jaguars. They probably had a plan for that week but
36:05randomly gets seven or eight targets in a game you know and has a nice game uh that just hits your lineup
36:10automatically. Dynasty, I'd probably wait until after they extend Parker Washington, which I pro I think they probably will do. Uh, at that point, you
36:21might get people just being like, "What do I did I just seriously draft a quarterback?" If they if they extend Parker Washington before the season, I
36:29think that would be a big- time buying window on Hunter where you might be able to get him for for very little. So, I
36:35would I would wait and see if that can induce panic on whoever has Hunter in your league. But I I think that he, you
36:42know, over a longer window will will have the perception shift back towards Hunter being someone we we really care about for fantasy at some
36:52point. So, I probably would would wait a little bit. Uh I don't I don't want to trade for Hunter and then they they sign
36:59Parker Washington. That's going to feel annoying.
37:02>> Yeah, I'm I'm very curious what that Parker Washington contract is is going to look like. But yeah, the in in in the next like month
37:11or so, like this might end up being one of the one of the best buying times for for Travis Hunter in Dynasty.
37:20>> I I would say if if it starts to look the other way, like they're not going to sign Washington and people are starting
37:26to realize that um they are going to play Hunter a good amount on offense, then it, you know, I might flip on that.
37:33But I'd give it a little more time to see if that extension's coming in Dynasty before.
37:38uh before you know, maybe you could send out some some low ball offers now, but that can backfire. People can get
37:44annoyed with you, guys. If you're if you're the low baller, they might not want to work with you in the future.
37:48>> Yeah.
37:49>> Um All right. So, go ahead.
37:51>> I was going to say, speaking of of of guys that people surprisingly want to work with, um Nathaniel Hackett. Should
38:00we >> Yeah, man.
38:02>> Talk about this.
38:03>> Yeah, this one's [laughter] crazy, dude.
38:05>> This one's crazy. This one's worth watching too because you're like, >> "Yeah, >> oh man, dude.
38:11>> This is >> left-handed tweet tweeted out like that he's he updated the post-it note of of where the Dalty his words Dalty, which I
38:18love Dalty coaches are." And like >> yeah, >> Hackit is such a man. It It is concerning. Like I I've been drafting
38:26McBride. I've been drafting Love, you know, less so Harrison, but I have some of them. Not so much Michael Wilson, but
38:34dude. Yeah. Dolt and Doly is a kinder word than I would label. I
38:44I think bozo is is more apt.
38:47>> Oh, I I would go with [ __ ] dumbass.
38:56I think you nailed it.
38:59Yeah, man. Uh they they asked Nathaniel Hackett, the Arizona Cardinals offensive coordinator,
39:09uh just a few days ago, do you see the running back room as having a starter? And he says, quote, I
39:17mean, right now it's a great room. I mean, I'm really excited about it.
39:22Excited for James to get out there and show what he's got. I mean, all the guys. End quote. I had I went back
39:30several times, rewatched to make sure that that he is saying James and then I was also like is there any anybody else
39:40that he could be referring to? Is there any any other is like cuz cuz sometimes a coach will call a guy a name that's
39:49like like uh Kyle Shanahan used to call Jordan Mason JP >> and people be like who's JP? So I'm like J like is this is he talking about James
40:00Connor [laughter] he's referring to with James and he was he was referring to James Connor. That's the one name that he
40:10brought up when he's talking about the running back room and and and if they have a starter. And then they also asked
40:16him like right after this, where is Jeremiah Love at with his progression?
40:23And Hackett said, quote, I mean, he's definitely a rookie as we've talked about and he'll keep growing every single day. I'm very excited for him,
40:32all those guys, not just him. End quote.
40:35And this is just I mean this is the like biggest naw wave [laughter] in the world dude.
40:45>> But the nw wave is to the idea that Nathaniel Hackett should be an OC in my mind. [laughter] >> Yes. What the There was so much
40:54engagement on this tweet and replies and quote tweets and and some of the more common ones were Nathaniel Hackett is the offensive
41:03coordinator of the Arizona Cardinals.
41:05>> What I mean I'm jealous of those people.
41:08I'm jealous that they can live in a world without that knowledge.
41:12>> Yeah. Also, um a lot of how does this guy still have a job? a lot of uh fire this guy which you very rarely hear
41:23about a coordinator in July where people are like >> it'll happen though.
41:29>> The best thing I can say for the Nathaniel Hackett hire is that you are a bad team and you play in the NFC West.
41:40So, you're going to get straight up embarrassed probably six times, maybe four if you're really lucky. You just get embarrassed
41:48four times by divisional opponents. Uh, and you have to survive to be able to draft a quarterback hopefully, you know,
41:59first overall or you get your pick of of this quarterback class uh next off seasonason. You've got to survive to do
42:06that as Michael Flur. And Nathaniel Hackett could be a helpful scapegoat as to why your offense didn't look the
42:15way it was supposed to in 2026. But I mean, that's really like I I I don't the hire makes no sense otherwise than like
42:24literally just someone you [snorts] can throw under the bus on your way to, you know, having Arch Manning or whatever other quarterback they end up with next
42:34year. that the floor actually can can sell the the franchise on him building with >> the the idea of a fall guy OC in your
42:43first year to me is just absolute insanity like what >> I mean I don't think that's actually what's happening because he seems super
42:54psyched about Hackit I think just >> kind of showed his ass as far as you know being like a a guy who can put an
43:02organization and staff together. Um, and maybe the best thing they can do ultimately will be just to clean house before the 2026 season and, you know,
43:13reroll with one of these young offensive minds around a a rookie quarterback. You bring in bring in a Declan Doyle or
43:19Grant Yinsky or or whoever else. Uh, but I mean, seriously, like I think hiring Nathaniel Hackett is about as bad a
43:27signal you could get from a young head coach. Yeah, >> this dude is not he's not it like this this is not a guy he's he's not he is he
43:35is a needle mover but in the wrong direction. [laughter] >> He's a needle remover.
43:41>> There's no needle.
43:44The needle's gone.
43:46>> Yeah, it it's bad. I He's He's He's Aaron Rogers buddy. like that's he's been able to kind of hang in the lead by
43:52being friends with Aaron Rogers for and and I guess Mike Laflur although you know from the Jeremiah Love perspective you do have you know Hackit had Bree
44:02Hall in 2023 when he's coming off the ACL tear and ultimately I think utilized him as a receiver and did some
44:13interesting things with Hall. It was a productive year returning there. I I think I will give Hackit, you know, a little bit of of forgiveness for how the
44:22offense looked that year. He had to deal with with Zack Wilson and stuff. It was a It was a rough situation for Hackit.
44:29Um this situation's also going to be rough, but but honestly, like the quarterback situation was probably worse that year for the Jets. So, you know,
44:37you have him utilizing Hall ins, you know, pretty good for fantasy.
44:45That wasn't Hall's rookie year, though.
44:48You know, perhaps as a rookie, he would have leaned on a more of a veteran guy, but the the head coach or sorry, the OC
44:54when Hall was a rookie was Mike Laflur.
44:58>> So, right away, they used a lot in the passing game as well.
45:02>> In the passing game as well. Yeah. So, I think >> I'm pretty I don't really give a [ __ ]
45:08about this. Like, I don't think they can >> same. They they can't like the fact that Hackett is clearly tempted to play James
45:16Connor over uh over Jeremiah Love confirms for me that like he shouldn't be their OC. And it seems like people
45:26are are feeling the same way online.
45:30But I also don't think it's like the thing. It's not like he can. It's not going to really happen, you know, like
45:36they'll they might use Connor too much in week one or week two, but like pretty quickly Jeremiah Love is going to be
45:42playing >> a sufficient amount of snaps for his explosive and versatile profile where, you know, if he if he gets seven targets
45:51in week six, maybe he doesn't have 15 carries as well, but but whatever, you know, like I think it's fine. It's
46:01Love is being priced in a in a range in the in the third now where we don't have to have him be a workhorse immediately.
46:09Uh he can pay off that ADP more like Jir Gibbs did who got up into the late third or even mid third by the end of his
46:17rookie season. Uh you know pre preh his rookie season and was a great pick there because he was explosive and he caught
46:24the ball.
46:26>> Want a much better offense. Of course, >> I I will note several things here that I think are important to take into
46:34consideration. First of all, Nathaniel Hackett not the offensive play caller.
46:38He's the OC, but he's not the play caller. Mike Laflur is, and he is fully in charge of this offense. Also, I think
46:44Nathaniel Hackett is being just overly diplomatic here. like this is like super sean coach speak uh from from from him
46:55on this situation. They made James Connor take like a $5 million pay cut in order to stick around and then they
47:03picked Jeremiah Love third overall in the NFL draft. So if if this was Mike Laflur's pick and Monty Austin for's
47:15pick at third overall and then he is all of a sudden in some sort of running back by committee,
47:26you're not going to stick around long.
47:28And >> well, I think they would just tell him.
47:29I mean, I think the the best thing I can say for Hackett for real is that like he seems like the type of coach that you
47:36could tell, hey, you need to play Jeremiah Love more. And he'd be like, "Sure thing." And then what? You know, like [laughter] he's like
47:44>> he pauses gold memory. He's like, "What?
47:46Sorry. What's up? What >> love?" Yeah. Okay, cool. [laughter] See you later.
47:54But it but but also, you know, people speculate that this was the owner Michael Bidwell's pick. Well, if Jeremiah Love was Bidwell's pick, then
48:03also there like even even more reason that they have to use this guy a lot or else they're out the door. So either way
48:12you look at it, >> like come on, man. You're not fooling us. You spent the third overall pick on Jeremiah Love. that that is the loudest
48:22thing that you could say. That's all we need to know.
48:26>> Yeah. I mean, I think, you know, it's also it's really helpful in this case that um Mike Lafleur is calling plays
48:36and is the head coach here where Hackett is, you know, a subordinate to the guy calling plays. And I trust Laflur a lot
48:46more than Hackett as far as designing the offense and, you know, utilizing his best players. Like I I think he's he's
48:54not someone I have huge skepticism of.
48:57I'm I'm like a little skeptical for sure, but I I'm also a little optimistic, a little hopeful that that he is, you know, ends up being like like
49:05we kind of think about him like we think about Kell Moore now. Like, okay, yeah, he got a shot as a head coach and it's
49:10looking pretty good, you know? So, uh, to have him really be the one in charge is is big. And for me, I just hope this
49:20hurts Jeremiah loves ADP a little bit because in the third, he makes a lot of sense. I like the things you can push
49:28back on. I just wrote up the rookie running backs, this big article on Legendary Upside. I hope I hope people check it out. I think it's I've been
49:34working on forever. I finally got it out. Um, and I looked back at the uh running backs, rookie running backs dating back to 2020 for best baseball
49:46and uh which guys, you know, have kind of paid off and and which ones have been bust and then kind of looking at, you
49:53know, some kind of macro lessons and then applying it to this year's class.
49:58And Ashton Genty was a big time bust last year. Omarian Hampton was a big time bust last year. Bean Robinson was a
50:05big-time bust in his rookie season. We can overpay for these really like high-end. I mean, I have Bejon and Genty in the highest tier of my running back
50:16stuff. Like they they were elite prospects. I have them a tier above actually Jeremiah Love, who I have in the same tier as like Jir Gibbs. Um
50:24wasn't quite the total workhorse. So, a little less of a fantasy friendly profile in that way, but still a very good prospect. And what how you know
50:33even for a guy like that if we had him priced at the one two turn he probably would have a poor advance
50:41rate.
50:42>> Yeah.
50:42>> You know he just and especially in this offense not a good offense. Uh there are there are ways that these running backs,
50:49even if they do end up being like the best, you know, among the best running backs in the league like Bejian
50:56Robinson, they can still absolutely bust as rookies when the price is too high.
51:02So for me, I'm like, Love is a better he's like a he's a good third round pick. He's like a he's a a good but you
51:10know, a little risky second round pick.
51:12So for me, I'm like, "Yeah, please take this completely seriously, market, so we can get third round Jeremiah Love where I'm a lot more confident that he can
51:19really pay off."
51:20>> Yeah. I mean, it's it's possible that maybe we get three, four turn Jeremiah Love. [laughter] That would be unreal. That would be
51:31unreal because he is kind of Gibbs like it's just I have fewer question mark. like there's the Gibbsish profile of like is
51:39he going to dominate touches? Probably not. You know, at least at least early in his career. Hopefully Gibbs will this year, right? But it's it's now what year
51:48four. Um so, you know, early year one, two, three, is he going to absolutely dominate touches Jeremiah Love?
51:56Probably not. But like he can be so fantasy friendly with the the the passcatching explosiveness that that he can he can deliver anyway. Um, but that
52:06is more of a of a round. I mean, that that's a a bet that in round four can just absolutely smash.
52:12>> Who here saying he's been getting love at 34 today on >> Oh my god.
52:16>> On draft kings.
52:18>> Well, we're about to jump in a draft right now. Literally, [laughter] that's the reminder I need to get us in a
52:23draft.
52:26>> You want to talk about Jeremiah Love's college backfield uh teammate?
52:32>> Let's do it. Yeah. Yeah. So, Mike McDonald on July 25th was asked about how he evaluates the running back
52:41position. And I I I think the guy that was asking the question was was kind of asking him like he wanted like an in
52:50general answer, but Mike McDonald answered it as as if he was asking like how do you evaluate your running back room?
52:59>> And McDonald said it's hard to right now. Right now, we're focused on execution. There's things that you can see in this type of environment. We're
53:07going to be relying on our coaches a lot and our personnel folks and things that they see. I think it's one of those
53:13things where it kind of just plays itself out. I think you've seen the way we've operated. It's not like we're making cut and dry final decisions going
53:19into the first game. Those things are always a discussion on how we want to move and shake throughout the season.
53:25We're in a good spot right now and we've got guys coming back, which is a positive. So, we'll see how it goes. And
53:33then they uh end up asking him later in the presser about Zack Sharpet's recovery, how that's going. And Mike McDonald, his face just lights up. He's
53:43like, "Any opportunity I get a chance to talk about Zack, I'm going to take advantage of it." And then he goes on
53:49saying how he's done a phenomenal job and really attacked this rehab and like Zack Charbanet is not going anywhere once once he's back and healthy
54:00and and and able to play like he's going to be right back in that lineup. you I think even if Jadarian Price is having
54:07like a rookie of the year type season like he would not you know keep keep a strangle hold on on that backfield because we we have these
54:17coaches like Mike McDonald like Shawn McVey who they just have these guys who they who they love and a lot of it has to
54:26come down to you know um just insane work ethic and like true true locker room leadership that kind of stuff and
54:35leadership on the field. Um, yeah. So, I think Charbanet is gonna be like a pretty significant piece when he gets back. Yeah. And the thing with
54:47Jadarian Price is that he has very likely kind of a two down profile, especially early on. Like I could see him um is that your I think it might be
54:57on your side. There's a notification coming through soundwise. Yeah, I think it's I'm trying to figure out how to off. It's from the I've
55:04got the Discord up so I can read these >> read these notes even when I put it on got it on my iPad. Even when I put it on
55:12like do not disturb it's let me see if I >> I had the to quote play earlier. I was trying to pull it up. I was like wait I
55:20bet that's just coming through as my audience. [laughter] I wanted to see the Liam Cohen reaction.
55:26Um the uh yeah, I mean uh Jarian Price's profile was it's a tricky one to say anything definitive about
55:37because he was behind Jeremiah Love, but it it's unlikely that he has a big time passcatching role right away. I mean,
55:43there was there was reports at a training camp that they're utilizing him in the passing game. like cool, but also doesn't really move the
55:51needle for me. Like where it's like the early parts of you you would do that, right? You would say like, "Hey, what's
55:58this rookie running back able to do as a pass catcher?" Because we don't really have that much tape on him doing that.
56:04Let's see how that looks. You know, you would try it out. I don't think it means anything really in terms of what his
56:09role in the passing game will be in the season, especially when Charbanet gets back. They trust him there. And so much
56:16of the passing game stuff is really about pass protection anyway. So, you know, long down and distance anyway, you know, uh third down and and and
56:23two-minute drill stuff where you know, the quarterback's me dropping back a ton and and looking deeper. That that'll be Sharon or probably Helani uh rather than
56:33Price. But ultimately, like so what you know, Price is cheap enough where I think he can he can pay off. Are
56:40you with JSN here?
56:42>> Yeah, you can do JSN. I I I saw your draft earlier with Pete. Maybe we do the opposite here.
56:50Start off with a bunch of pass catchers and and dig out at RB.
56:54>> Well, full PPR site, you know, it's a little bit >> a little bit uh >> Are you ever taking CMC ahead of JSN
57:02there?
57:03>> I'm not. No, no. I I mean, I think JSN is just he's he's so good. He's so locked in as the number one there. And I
57:13want my fair share of JSN. And yeah, I think Maccaffrey I get plenty of. I actually have a couple shares of
57:21Macaffrey uh in 555s.
57:25>> Uh you see I only have $50 of of Jonathan Taylor. I'm I have thousands of dollars of exposure to to uh Christian
57:33McAffrey right now. It's just been the way for some reason I I haven't had the draft slots to get Jonathan Taylor. Yeah, he was
57:41going very consistently at like seven or eight, but now he is starting to to slide a little bit. I've seen him go at
57:48like 10 and 11.
57:52So maybe get my get some more exposure at those prices. I'm wearing Hampton round one. Wow, expensive. I guess I only have one 555
58:05Macaffrey. I thought I had more, but Um, do you want to hear this?
58:14Speaking of the Niners, this quote on Deshawn Stribbling.
58:18>> Sure, >> please. I I haven't seen this one.
58:22>> So, this is from yesterday.
58:24This is from uh I I I labeled it, you know, in the Discord when I put the notes, I'll put like head coach Kyle
58:32Shanahan or offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel, whatever. Uh here I just put kind of the interim head coach Chris Fster uh because he he is I guess like
58:42officially the temporary Oh yeah, AJ Brown, >> let's do it.
58:46>> Let's go. Um he is the the like very temporary head coach, but they've also said like really all of our guys are
58:55sharing it. you know, Raheem Morris and and um and Klay Kubak, who by the way, first or mention in this presser that
59:05Klay Kubak, their offensive coordinator, has been the most prepared out of any OC or pass game coordinator that has ever worked with Kyle Shanahan. That those
59:14two have been in lock step, and that they have co-done a lot of things on the offensive side of the ball. So, uh,
59:22arrow up on, uh, on Klay Kubak, but they asked [clears throat] first or what he has seen from Deshawn Stribbling. He
59:29said, quote, "He's awesome, man. He's phenomenal. He's everything that we thought he would be and more when he came out. Just mature, strong, fast,
59:38physical, understands the game, lines up in the formations, very professional about things. He's been so, so good and everything we thought he could be. It's
59:46really nice to see." End quote. And then right after that they asked him, "What have you seen from Kalin Black?" And he
59:53said, "Same thing. Very mature. I think he's an older kid. I think they're just mature. He's got a great understanding of the game. A very, very professional
60:01attitude about everything he does." So doesn't do on Kalin Black uh nearly to the extent >> that he does on Streley. He's he's just
60:12saying like, >> "Yeah, he's older. He's he's a mature he's a mature guy." uh the the the the stuff he's saying about stribbling
60:19pretty nice and lines up with this whole like oh he was he was one of our what like 15 or 16 gold star
60:27>> helmet guys of of of like this guy's going to come in and he's going to get it like immediately and and the lines up
60:35in the formations thing might sound like a like like a small deal. It's not that >> small of a deal. We see so many rookies
60:42come into the NFL and have a problem with this. We actually saw this with Travis Hunter last year where he was
60:47having a lot of trouble in the regular season. Um, you know, got got a decent amount of penalties on being misaligned.
60:55So, like they think this kid has it all upstairs and they think he's also a very good fit in their offense. Uh, Jeremiah
61:02Love here would be great.
61:04>> I mean, very very on point with the the show today. Thank you to the other 11 drafters here.
61:11>> We can just take Jeremiah 11 in the third round. Hell yeah. [laughter] >> It's a beautiful thing. Uh yeah, I mean
61:18I I think with um with Black as well, like they've reported uh there's been there's been reports out of camp that it
61:25looks like Jordan James is is running as the RB2 right now. And so that seems, you know, more like they're like, "Yeah,
61:31we we feel good about Kaylin Black. He's a mature kid, you know, kind of thing."
61:36But with with dribbling, he has a chance to play a lot early and, you know, be someone that's that's a playmaker for
61:44them. Potentially someone they're kind of designing things for to get the ball in his hands, being a little bit of a
61:50yak guy, which is, you know, something he did look like he could do well coming out.
61:57I think, you know, the 49ers can be wrong about the idea that he was truly like one of the very best wide receivers
62:03in this class, but still right that he can be productive for them early in his career and and he is priced at a level
62:12where like if he is productive this season, he is going to smash like, you know, he doesn't need to be a superstar.
62:18Just needs to be like pretty good and he can absolutely crush his ADP. So yeah, I think Stribbling's uh remains a very
62:25strong pick. And you know, like you're saying with the details, like I saw Dez Bryant tweeting out like that he was
62:31that Stribbling was basically lined up uh with his outside foot up, you know, so stand, you know, split. He was like
62:40he's got an outside foot up >> and he was basically that's bad and that's why his route didn't look super crispy or whatever. But then people were
62:47like sharing literal things from the 49ers playbook of like this route calls for your outside foot to be up blah blah
62:53blah. But it's like a reminder that like there are these little details like we don't even like yes of course you have
62:58to line up in the right place but like for this route you're supposed to have your outside foot up or whatever else
63:03those details might be. Coaches don't like those aren't like optional like ah you'll you'll you'll get your foot right the next time like don't worry about it.
63:12Like these are what have people playing or not playing >> right? you know, when they're, you know, so if he does have those those types of
63:20details down, you know, has the playbook down, the intricacies of the playbook, you know, breaking off his routes at the correct correct point, you know, the
63:31timing, all that stuff like that is so huge in terms of him getting on the field quickly, which is which is
63:38a huge part of of the equation for us.
63:40>> Yeah, I did see that Dez tweet. I I and and I saw the replies about the the Ner's uh plays and playbooks and and
63:48also a video of Mike Evans doing the exact same thing with >> Right. Yeah. Mike Evans was doing the same. He was lined up exactly the same.
63:54Yeah.
63:55>> Yeah.
63:55>> Yeah. So, it does seem like that's how they have that, you know, particular thing drawn up. So, >> so Jacobs getting back here or Burden,
64:04which would be the first time I've taken one DraftKings of Jacobs.
64:07>> So, Jacobs Jacobs was great.
64:09>> Hell yeah. late fourth.
64:13>> Let's get it. Boom. We're already caught up at running back. Look at that.
64:16>> Yeah, [laughter] >> we could have gone three receivers there if Jacobs had gone uh three receivers in the first four picks, but the room had
64:25other ideas.
64:28>> Yeah, with uh with with dribbling also, you know, we we always talk about contingent value for for rookies in in
64:33in these later uh guys in in in fantasy drafts. I mean, Stribbling is behind one of the most um brittle wide receiver rooms in the NFL,
64:44probably in in in an older Mike Evans and um >> Christian Kirk.
64:50>> Christian Kirk and Ricky Pierol.
64:53>> Christian Kirk is dealing with some minor injury already, >> right? Yeah.
64:56>> Doesn't seem like a major concern, but it is a reminder that it's a brittle receiver room.
65:01>> Mhm.
65:04>> Mike Evans on the way back here. I'm curious how you have 0% burden. I don't have as much volume on DraftKings right
65:11now. I still haven't, you know, uh my uh how do I check how many done? I I'll check as soon as I'm done with this
65:22pick, but I haven't done a ton of the I've really only been doing the flagship and some 555s on on DraftKings to date.
65:29Mike Evans here seems good.
65:31>> Yeah, let's take brittle Mike Evans. So, let's take Mike Evans.
65:36>> I got a lot of Evans, man.
65:39>> Mike Evans lobby.
65:41>> Mike Evans and uh [snorts] as the X and a Kyle Shanahan offense with with with Brock Pury at quarterback. My god,
65:49what's not to love?
65:51>> So, I've done 49 uh that's more than I would have told you I've done, but you know, I'm not even quite a third way through.
65:59>> I'm I'm at 100 drafts right now.
66:01>> Wow. done 49 uh this tournament. Uh I'm in the uh I think like 750 range now for uh
66:12traditional best baseball and underdog and then I've done you know the marathon and sprint and all that stuff. So I think I'm over a thousand on on
66:18underdog.
66:20>> Wow.
66:21>> And there I'll just pull up the burden exposure there. There I'm at 6% burden.
66:28So yeah, >> respectable.
66:32>> Respectable. Little underweight, but not not not a mega fade.
66:36>> Little underweight just like Luther Burton.
66:38>> Just like Luther Burton. And I would have been working outdone there.
66:47>> Yeah. Sometimes you're just not in position. Like sometimes it's just not working out in in drafts to to get guys
66:54that you would like to get a little bit more.
66:55>> Right.
66:56>> Right.
66:58Yeah. And and with Burden, and this is I think kind of an interesting thing with the Sims is that Burden when he is
67:05available at the 56 turn does pop, but when it's in the fourth, he doesn't pop as as frequently. And we see like when
67:14you get Henderson in the the 56 turn, uh he definitely pops a bit more there than he does, you know, in the early to mid
67:22fifth. So, it's it's one of the the Sims tend to they like who they like. It's like when you're in a pocket with guys,
67:29multiple players that are just we think better picks, it's tough to it's tough to flip them, you know, consistently.
67:37Um, when you fall down into a range where you're like like Henderson might not always be the best pick in the late fifth, but he it
67:46it's he belongs there basically. So, then he will be recommended at a much higher rate. Oh yeah, it's our boy. It's
67:54our boy Drake.
67:56Let's go.
67:58>> Yes, sir.
68:01Pretty fun start here. I mean, looking at this team, Dream Draft, JSN, AJ Brown, Jeremiah Love, Josh
68:14Jacobs, Mike Evans, and Drake May. This is a fun start. [snorts] Very fun stuff.
68:21We've top clicked our way through it, but you know, >> uh, >> have they all been top >> they has all been the top
68:26recommendations, but I don't think uh, >> if if >> just we're just in sync right now.
68:33>> Yeah. If if Burden had not gone off and it was Jacobs and and Burden, I I think I would have steered Burden
68:40>> and I' Yeah.
68:44>> Yeah.
68:46>> Tucker Craft going a little little early right here.
68:52Raandre goes. That's >> Damn. I was hoping.
68:54>> Little bit of a bummer. Yeah, me too.
68:57>> He's been steaming up a little bit.
68:58Slowly steaming.
69:01>> I think Yeah, Raandre and Henderson are going to get close to converging. I I don't think Henderson will get flipped
69:06by Raandre, but I think it'll start to be closer.
69:11It's already closer than it was. Do you you think Brooks is gonna flip Chuba?
69:20I think he might. Yeah, I think I'm on the verge of flipping him in the rankings.
69:28I think for managed, he he should probably go ahead of Chuba.
69:37For best ball, you might want a Chuba in certain builds. Like I think he he fits better like Chuba probably fits this team
69:46better um than here he is. He's he's down here ahead of I mean he would be ahead of Brooks because Brook's ADP is
69:53much lower but I think Chuba fits this team better than than Brooks probably.
69:59>> I'm pretty split on Herz and Pard here.
70:04>> We could play for Lemon who probably won't get back but if we took Herz that would be a nice little perk.
70:11Let's try it.
70:12>> Okay.
70:18And now we we honestly might end up with Brooks on this team since we didn't take the the running back. So that would be
70:24kind of fun, too, >> buddy. I'm good with that.
70:29Yeah, Herz in the in the I mean Daniels there was a smash. Uh this guy out of the three hole kind of did what we did.
70:37He had stacked Chase Burrow and then tax on Daniel's unstacked. We have stacked May Brown and then tack on unstacked Herz. But that's just too cheap for
70:48Herz. [snorts] Way too cheap, man.
70:52>> Yeah, I mean God daniels in the seventh round there.
70:57>> It's really wild.
71:00>> It's really wild when you see where where Josh Allen is going.
71:05>> I know. I know. I've talked about the Allen stuff a lot and people are, you know, I think it kind it's like a
71:12philosophical thing for some people like I just can't fade Josh Allen even if the price doesn't really make sense, you know, compared to the rest of the
71:20position.
71:23I think I can fade Josh Allen because like so you're building a portfolio of teams and like you might think sprinkling in a little Josh Allen at a
71:33terrible price gets you the potential to win with Josh Allen, but that you know that little taste of of the Josh Allen price probably doesn't
71:44get you a Josh Allen's final team anyway. So I'm just like I'm just going to I'm going to live this.
71:51I'm not gonna pretend I'm doing something I'm not doing. You know what I mean? Like I am fading Josh Allen. And
71:56>> now if you gave me Josh Allen a better price or if you gave me worse prices on all the other quarterbacks that made
72:02Josh Allen stand out a bit more, then I'd be down. But the way >> it's just a market efficiency here, >> right? When I'm putting the puzzle
72:09together in any given room, I don't want to do like a pretty bad pick.
72:15>> I just have trouble with that.
72:20Now, this guy took Pard, so we know he's the type of guy who might take Chuba, but it would be pretty fun if Chuba gets back here.
72:30>> Would it be?
72:31>> I think it would be as our running back three.
72:33>> Sure. Sure. Yeah.
72:35>> I mean, this is the eighth round, man.
72:38>> Sure.
72:40>> We got like this. So, one thing I think and I I I'm actually hopeful. Oh, Brooks Brooks pops to the top. So, we could
72:46just get the >> Carolina backfield. um as our running back three. One thing I think about with Love and where I wonder if maybe people
72:56are uh building not good love teams is treating him like he's going to be this guy who immediately contributes big time
73:07weeks where in fact maybe he takes a while to do that because you got Nathaniel Hackett, you know, getting his dumb influence in there and they're
73:15playing James Connor or whatever. It's like a three-way split or something like that. Like Love has like 7.4 PPR points in week two
73:24and everyone's like, "What the [ __ ] is going on?" You know, [laughter] we're like, "Well, Chuba scored 18, so we're okay." You know, like there's
73:32>> Yeah, Chuba could be a a early season Chaperon again.
73:38>> I do think they will ease Brooks in initially just to kind of see >> Yeah, I do too. where he's at and uh
73:46hey, show show us what you got on eight 10 touches a game and then we'll go from there. Yeah. And like I said, I
73:56mean, I think Chuba fits this team where we have two running backs through the first seven rounds. And I didn't think
74:04Chuba was going to fall back to us. It wasn't me like preemptively trying to talk you into Chuba, but um you know, I
74:10think he makes sense with with when your running back one was in round three and is a rookie and your running back two uh
74:18could get suspended, [laughter] then having Chuba Hubard, who I think will probably be more tilted to the early season, could actually be like a
74:25pretty impactful pick for the team.
74:27Yeah, I'm uh I'm I'm I'm I'm definitely downs or quorum here.
74:37>> Well, we're getting one of them and it'll be downs.
74:39>> All right, let's go.
74:40>> I'm very psyched. I was kind of sweating that.
74:43>> I was really hoping to get downs there.
74:48>> All right, so we're now through nine rounds. We've got uh Drake May, Jaylen Herz at quarterback. The lemon play didn't work, but we got Chuba falling to
74:58us, which feels pretty good, at least to me. Jeremiah Love, Josh Jacobs, and Chuba at running back, a receiver, JSN, Antonio Brown, Mike Evans, and Josh DS.
75:08>> Dog, dog, dog, dog.
75:12>> It is cool that like Josh DS and Mike Evans have kind of a similar attitude about playing football and one of them's
75:19like one of the biggest, most athletic receivers we've ever seen. And one of them one of them's Josh Downs.
75:30Yeah. Double up on Chuba Brooks. So, one of the things uh I like about drafting the sidekick is that there are moves
75:38that I think are good in certain situations that aren't necessarily good all the time.
75:45And I would say getting the Carolina backfield is your RB is your basically collective RB3 on a on a team with um
75:55Jacobs and Love. That probably makes more sense than on some other builds. So I would have been h I would have been
76:02actually pretty stoked if we got the the chance to just take both. [snorts] Yeah, that would have been cool. Would the sidekick ever recommend Brooks there
76:12over Chuba if you started Chiron and ETN?
76:16Probably not because of the ADP element.
76:19If they had the same ADP, then uh I would I would think that maybe something like that would be more likely. Like if you had if you had like
76:30CMC and Henry or something then then I I would guess that Brooks would probably sim a little bit better than he might
76:40otherwise and Chuba probably a little bit worse. But I honestly think it would be more like if you had those two plus
76:46another running back and we're looking at who the running back four is. That's when I think Brooks would probably be likely to outsim
76:54Chuba uh at a similar price.
76:58Oh my god. Unbelievable.
77:01>> Concade goes. But we got Jacobe Myers top of the kick. Romeo Dobs here as well. Uh Jordan Mason, what do what are
77:08your thoughts?
77:09>> I would like to end up with Conpion. Do you think we could get him?
77:14>> He's the most likely to fall.
77:16>> Yeah, >> we pick at 125.
77:18>> Take Mason here and then go Conpsion.
77:21>> We could just take Conpsion if you want.
77:23>> Sure, let's take him.
77:25He's the guy. It's not It's a small list, but he is one of the dudes that uh I just I'll just take.
77:35>> He's good, man.
77:37>> I [snorts] think he's good. I think >> he's a good player. [clears throat] Obviously, the big downside there is >> is the offense, but um
77:45>> is the offense and he you know what what is his role right out of the gate?
77:48because it might need to be really strong to overcome the quarterback play, but um yeah, I I want to be betting on this
77:57player at a pretty high rate, which I am doing. [laughter] >> Yeah, >> to be clear, like uh yeah, I've got I've
78:05got a good good amount.
78:07>> I mean, they're going to have at least 3,000 yards of of passing this year.
78:11He'll he'll have a chunk.
78:15>> Yeah. Conpsion on draft kings I'm at 19%.
78:24So Ferguson and then Goddard uh jumping up here.
78:29>> Aaron Jones, Jordan Mason, Khalil Shakir, Romeo Doss, all in the mix. Kind of a like a sort of diverging forks in
78:38the road here a little bit on the roster construction part of it.
78:43What jumps out to you? Uh, I kind of lean Mason here, I think. Or >> I am good with Mason. [snorts]
78:54>> I do like Shakir.
78:56>> Yeah, let's do Mason.
78:59I think that he has that goal line role unlock for Minnesota.
79:07didn't he got like what five six touchdowns last year on a on a pretty terrible offense. What if that offense is actually kind of good with Kyler
79:18Murray this year and they score a lot more? They get more scoring opportunities. Um Aaron Jones being another year older.
79:27Mason like he didn't have a ton of production last year but again the offense didn't have a ton of production.
79:33his his like efficiency metrics were pretty decent. Um >> they were >> Yeah, it like he doesn't he doesn't catch the ball a lot like that. Okay,
79:43that's not >> that's not great, but um he's a guy who I think could handle a good workload there. And then
79:51I mean I'm I'm I'm sure you've got a decent amount of Aaron Jones. I do >> as well, but like what if
79:57>> what if the wheels just completely come off this year?
80:00>> Yeah.
80:00>> On him. Then I think Mason's a big part because I don't think Deon Claybourne is that great of a running back.
80:08>> Me neither. Me neither. Yeah.
80:11>> Yeah. Mason is like a, you know, it's probably like a small hit, small miss type of profile. Um because he is cheap,
80:18so it's hard to see it being like a massive miss, but also the upside just isn't isn't that high, I don't think.
80:24But, you know, you could always score a couple touchdowns in in the right week for you with that offense improving from
80:31where it was last year. I agree that he's got, you know, some some touchdown equity for sure. So, uh I've been I've
80:40been taking a little bit more of him recently.
80:43Do you want to talk about Blake Cororm quickly while we uh >> we're about to be up in a few picks, but
80:49maybe let's talk >> what you want to do here at this point and then because you mentioned Cororm and Downs are the top two guys
80:57>> and there were some bullish coach speak on on Cororum, but we're about to maybe get likely a huge faller.
81:03>> I've not drafted likely at all.
81:05>> If the kick is saying likely, then you got to take likely.
81:08>> You got Yeah, that's honest. Honest to God. Yeah, [laughter] I just submitted Isaiah likely. Uh, spoilers for ADP Chasing Tomorrow, but I
81:15have him as the worst pick on the board.
81:18>> Whoa.
81:19>> Yeah, I just I just don't get it.
81:20Especially with the neighbors stuff looking more bullish. You know, that was like your main out. I think >> when you when you say when you say worst
81:29pick on the board cuz cuz I've I did this as well about I think uh like Nooku and and I think and at one point I was
81:38like is Bill Krosky Meritt the the worst pick on the board? But are we just automatically like Brandon Iuk does not
81:47>> Oh yeah I Yeah. Yeah.
81:49>> Like [snorts] like a guy with a real ADP.
81:52And I thought about saying, you know, some of the other guys that I'm that I'm fading, but like, you know, I'm fading
81:58Josh Allen, but like I get why people are taking Josh Allen. He's Josh Allen.
82:01He could be he could absolutely smash in, you know, the final. He He's like, yeah, he could smash in week 17 and you
82:08don't need him, but he could smash in weeks 15, 16, and 17 consecutively.
82:13Like, he has that kind of upside. though I get it's hard for me to say even though I don't think he's priced well
82:19it's hard for me to be like Josh Allen you know is what are you doing like I I do get what people are doing Parker
82:25Washington I don't take a lot of uh at all but I get theoretically why people see upside there I don't see it like the
82:33market does but I it's like I could this could I end up being burned by not taking Parker Washington I think I could
82:41I just think that most of the time I won't be the you Actually, a pretty high percentage of the time I won't be, so
82:46I'm not doing it. But likely, I'm like, when you're taking him over Concaid and Kelsey, like
82:55what's the goal? Like, I I don't get it.
82:58When you get him uh 20 picks or even more than 20 picks past ADP, it's a little different.
83:05>> I I think I might lean Hunter Henry here over >> Okay.
83:09>> over Strange.
83:11>> I'm good with it. We're not going to You have the potential maybe get both of you, but probably not.
83:16>> What pick is this? What pick is this?
83:18>> This is 149 and his ADP is 155.
83:21>> Okay. So, >> yeah, let's just take Henry.
83:24>> Yeah.
83:24>> Yeah. With with with Strange, I am a I'm a little worried about how many other good pass catchers there are.
83:32>> Yeah, I hear you >> in that room. And also the fact that like one of the things that they've talked about with Tanner Kosial is this
83:41guy's really good in the red zone.
83:44>> Mhm.
83:45>> So if they're doing some 12 personnel down in the red zone and and and and Kosial ends up actually being more of a
83:53featured part than Strange in the red zone, then that's not great.
83:59>> Yeah.
84:02just having May like >> Yeah. Yeah. No, I'm good with Henry for sure. Henry I think could get kind of squeezed in a similar way where he
84:13relative to last year where you know it's like oh you're competing with like Matt Collins and Kahan Booty who's really not able to separate even though
84:23May was connecting with them deep. It was it was beautiful throws by May more than anything. And then Diggs, who was
84:29playing but not playing a full-time role. Like his his route percentage was never the at the level you would typically expect for a number one. He
84:39was being kind of limited a little bit as an older wide receiver. So Henry moves from that to AJ Brown, Romeo Dos,
84:47and you still might have booty there.
84:48Ultimately, it looks like he's kind of putting his head down and getting to work in training camp. So, I mean, that's a little bit of the squeeze for
84:57for Henry. Uh, there's but the squeeze for Strange is is potentially worse because you have Washington, Thomas, Meyers, Hunter, and then the two rookie
85:08tight ends. So, uh, I've been wondering if Strange will actually fall a little bit.
85:20Hawinson getting back would be our tight end three. He's top recommendation. Debo goes. I was going to uh potentially float him there because he's
85:30>> I think someone I still believe in.
85:31>> I'm kind of interested in Trey Tucker here.
85:34>> Okay. We have some other We've got three guys right at the top here at tight end.
85:39We could play for one of them to get back.
85:40>> Yeah.
85:41>> And grab Tucker. I'm good with that.
85:45I think I think maybe a missed opportunity here by me. I feel like today of all days I could maybe have
85:52manipulated you into uh to taking Jaylen McMillan and Terence Ferguson in the in the same draft.
86:01>> Where did So McMillan would have been over likely.
86:05>> Yeah. I mean we were we were getting we're scooping the ADP fallers. That would have been tough. It would have
86:10been tough to tell the sidekick to to pound sand on Isaiah likely for the first time that I've seen it. Recommend
86:16Isaiah [laughter] likely.
86:16>> It just doesn't let you. It doesn't star when you click on it.
86:22>> Oh man. I I think we do have that coded in for McMillan. I'll I'll double check to make sure uh that it's working as
86:29intended. And when you try to cue Jaylen McMillan, nothing happens. [laughter] 173 here. I've I've got Davis Madak on
86:40tomorrow for a draft. And man, if if you think that we're not going to draft Terrence Pur together, >> I do think you're going to draft Terren.
86:49You're not surprising me when you do it.
86:52Just know it. Just know that.
86:57>> No round is too early.
87:04Gunner both.
87:06>> Yeah, >> both looking pretty good to me.
87:12>> Interesting that Gunner is ahead of Schultz here. I don't I don't know that I've often seen.
87:20>> So, Gunner uh Schultz rather has a shared by-week with >> what it was his by-week um with one of our other tight ends. And so that might
87:30have been the reason why that Gunner Helm was was being recommended above.
87:37>> Yeah.
87:38>> Types of considerations around the Sims.
87:39>> Let's go with gunner here.
87:41>> You good with gunner? Okay.
87:42>> Oh, yeah.
87:46>> Yeah. So, we had likely and uh Henry. I think Schultz has that same week 11 buy.
87:58Uh which you know when you sim out the season Oh no, he's got the week eight buy. Uh but when you when you sim things out
88:08and both these guys are getting zeros in week eight, it's kind of nice to have someone covering that.
88:14>> Late late tight end is so fun this year.
88:17>> I agree. I think, you know, you build out these rooms, three, four guys, maybe even maybe five, but probably four.
88:26We'll probably a fourth on this build.
88:30Yeah, I would imagine. So, might might get it on the next comeback here. Yeah.
88:37And I feel good about running back where like we have so Love, Jacobs, Hubard, and Mason. We're not seeing a ton of
88:43recommendations at running back. I think we'll probably get some when we get into the final rounds. Like >> you see Helani and Kron and some of
88:50these guys way down here. Like when we're in the closer to 200, >> we might start to see those dudes pop
88:57up. But for now, we're kind of free and clear to to fill out depth at receiver and grab a fourth tight end potentially.
89:05I uh I mentioned something to uh JJ Zacharizen last week when we were doing a draft about how I' I've been
89:16approaching some drafts with with this strategy of if there if there's a player that I'm very light on who I have
89:23basically no exposure to and I end up picking them in a draft then I just go like pretty like light at that position
89:34like much lighter than I would >> usually and just being like, okay, if >> if this player doesn't smash this year,
89:41then great. This fade that I've ended up with >> works out. But if they do smash, then I have like this handful of teams that
89:49kind of hinge on them in a way and then I'm, you know, probably doing pretty well at the at the other positions.
89:58>> Yeah, I hear you. So, the way I'll do that, um, >> wow, Tferg off the board. Ferg in the 16th.
90:06Um, sometimes when I take that guy that I don't have a lot of, I'll I'll like kind of steer into like a Kraine draft
90:16>> where I'm like I'm going to do I want a team that like rather than like an all hedgebook team, which would isn't really
90:22what you're saying. You're you're going lighter at the position overall. I I like Bernard here if you're down with >> Yeah. Bernard or Wix. Either one.
90:29>> Wix. Yeah. Wix would be less likely to come back. And Bernard honestly might he's past ADP. So let's let's go ahead
90:36and take Wix.
90:38>> Um ah Bernard goes at the very next.
90:42>> Damn.
90:43>> I mean that [laughter] is this is the risk. You know >> this has not worked out with >> guys are [clears throat] trying to push.
90:49>> It really hasn't. Uh damn. That's a bit of a bummer.
90:56Uh but yeah. So I rather than like try to have like oh I don't draft this guy.
91:01Well, let me pair him with this other like I this is a team where I'm just in a mood where I'm just drafting guys that
91:06I don't draft. So, I'm going to draft a bunch of these guys. I like to take if I have a guy that I don't draft of draft a
91:11lot of, then I kind of like to like put it on a team that looks a lot kind of like my normal teams but with this one
91:18guy that I don't really draft. So, it's sort of like well hopefully I'm kind of right about most thing like I don't just
91:27completely with this year but as long as like but I could be like generally have a good year and just completely miss on
91:34a guy I'm generally fading and so I like to have that guy like with other things I feel good about basically.
91:42>> I would rather push tight end here and I'd be I'd be either either Mooney or Helani.
91:48Uh, let's go Mooney.
91:52Helani's not up here super high, so we just push tight end. I think there might be another like we could end up
92:01taking a Kron anyway.
92:03>> Mhm.
92:04>> What tight end jumps out to you?
92:07Honestly, when when when I'm in a position like this and I'm I'm getting a fourth tight end late, uh, a lot of the
92:16time I've been taking Darnell Washington in like the 19th or or 20th round because I I I I think he outscores all
92:25of these guys who are on the board right now. Like, I'm not big on GI. I think that they started phasing
92:34him out a little bit last year in that tight end room and now we've got Eric All coming back. Um, you know, Ster is like
92:44m may maybe he comes on late late season. Maybe maybe they use him as um, you know, power twink.
93:01>> [laughter] >> I need like someone to bring he's in the power twink foll onto like like you know the minaime show or something. You know
93:11what I mean? Like just to like fully like >> I need Serani to say it.
93:15>> Like please I need to hear someone tell Greg Rosenthal to his face that Eli Ster is in the power twink role. [laughter]
93:23Power twink fr. You know what I just like an announce.
93:28>> I want to hear a report from Sheper like the Eagles really like Eli Sters in in Shawn Manion's new offense which is
93:37expected to feature the Power Twink.
93:45>> That's why they call him an evil genius.
93:47No one has ever heard of a Power Twink offense.
93:53Is Eli Sters as the Eagles new power twink the key to unlocking Shawn Manion's offense? [snorts] Oh my god. [laughter]
94:06Kron and Helani go. Although neither was but the top recommendation I think was Gaseki only and then Darnell Washington goes. Damn. Uh
94:19but >> just take hours.
94:21>> I think we just take hours. Yeah, >> book it.
94:25>> All right, >> book it.
94:27>> Do you have any quotes? Because you you did have a couple more quotes. Did you want to share the one about Sure. Manion
94:32>> describing Sters as the power twink >> there. All right. This is uh July 24th.
94:40There are twinks and then there are power twinks. Eli is more of a power twink and I put the emphasis on power.
94:53>> [laughter] >> They You know what, dude?
94:56Let me pull this up. Let me pull this up because [laughter] you just wait. You just wait.
95:06Okay. [sighs] >> Where's the Star Wars quote?
95:12Um, oh, you know what? I think that the let
95:21me let me while you get that up. Uh there was a a quote or a question about uh Chris Brazzle
95:32and if you'll allow me I would like to share uh some coach speak on Chris Brazzle.
95:40>> Yeah. which was reasonably bullish, but I think also gives you a sense of uh wait, where was it? It was in this
95:50recent post.
95:53Anyway, he said speed. He's like, "What's the point of Chris Brazzle?"
95:56He's like, "Speed, man. He's uh he's out there. He's looking good. He's going to be delivering on on speed." Okay, here's
96:04what here. This is actually from last week, the 23rd on >> Oh, let's take Brazil. Yeah, thank you.
96:15Uh on what Canals has seen out of Chris Brazzle since OTAAS's speed, wrestling with the concepts, wrestling with where to be and what time to get his route,
96:26get to this route and that that's natural. That's a normal part of this. I love that he brings that downfield element to our offense. I believe that
96:32can open up things for Tedo Tetto McMillan and Jaylen Coker and Xavier Lette as Chris tells us that he's ready for roles. We'll continue to give him
96:39roles. So, I'm excited for him this camp.
96:43Uh, I got another one on that coming up.
96:45But first, Nick Sirani actual quote June 10th asked what are you seen out of Eli Sters said he has this ability to change
96:53direction and to accelerate and to catch the ball consistently. That's unusual for that position. He has an unusual skill set at the tight end position with
97:01the matchups that he's going to be getting on safeties and linebackers.
97:05He's fast, he's quick, he can catch the ball well, and he's still growing and learning in the position because there's some still some newness to him playing
97:12that position. I think that he shows power as far as his abilities to be able to block. Obviously, we don't have pads
97:19on, so there's some unknown, but you could feel some of the power when he's hitting the bags and hitting the guy
97:24across from him. You can see that he has that power and it's very noticeable with his jumps, his broad jump, his vertical
97:32jump. He has explosive power in his body >> four times.
97:37>> Yeah. Power twink.
97:38>> Wow.
97:38>> Power twink.
97:39>> Explosive power in his body is literally just saying power twink.
97:45Like it would just be faster to call him a power. If you think he has explosive power in his body [laughter]
97:52and he's going to get unique matchups because of his size, >> you're calling him a power twink.
97:59>> Uh on on uh Brazle, >> powerful coach speak. [laughter] Can't
98:07be any more Twinky than that.
98:14Oh man.
98:14>> Oh my god.
98:16>> Caleb Douglas, top of the kick here. He was on uh a list Cameron Wolf was talking about how he could end up being
98:22a starter for them.
98:23>> I can see it.
98:25>> Let's take him. Um I I know one of the things that I believe is their I don't know. I can't remember if it was their
98:31general manager, John Eric Sullivan, or their head coach, Jeff Hafley, but one of them were talking about how like we want to be the biggest team in the NFL.
98:40like we want to roll out the biggest team on the field. And I think Caleb Douglas um like kind of profiles into that like he's
98:50more of a taller guy like not not huge weight wide. I think he's like 210 maybe 205 something like that.
98:59>> He's 6'4 206 which is a big receiver by today's standards.
99:03>> Yeah. Um Dave [clears throat] Canales was asked the other day whether he's looking to use Tedro McMillan in the slot more this year and how can that
99:14potentially open up the passing game.
99:17Canal said quote we used him a lot in there last year as well so we'll just continue that plan. Chris Brazzle gives
99:24us the opportunity to move him inside a little bit more. We can pop T-Mac inside, put Chris at the single. when
99:30you have somebody that tall and fast sitting on the single side with a one-on-one matchup that gives an advantage. Maybe the defense tilts that
99:37way a little bit, it creates a little bit of space inside." End quote. So, like kind of unprompted Chris Brazzle in
99:43there, but like saying, "How do we get T-Mac inside?" Well, we just drafted the guy. His name's Chris Brazzle. He's really tall. He's fast. And we heard
99:53Canales say this uh as well when they drafted Brazle that this guy is going to open things up intermediately for our
100:00other guys. So Chris Brazzle sacrificial X great not going to be like a huge target earner but he will be a downfield
100:09target earner which in the final rounds of best ball like that's pretty sick when Bryce Young who not he's there's a lot of things that
100:19Bryce Young is not great at. One of the things he is great at is is deep passes.
100:24So that actually match >> good at kind of moving around like biting some time and then attacking actually downfield. Doesn't have the
100:30biggest arm, but he's like kind he's more of a playmaker. It's been kind of disappointing to see him, you know, in
100:35this super low volume kind of just like more just like point and shoot type of offense where they don't ask him to like
100:43he'd be cooler in like four wide type stuff where you're like he can he can kind of improvise and read the field out
100:49more.
100:50>> Um I I think he'd be better there, but that's not what Canales wants to do. So there's a little bit of a I think he's
100:58miscast for the Canalis offense to some degree, which is ultimately probably just going to be frustrating over over time, but there can still be ways that
101:08guys pay off when they when they get too inexpensive, you know, where yeah, I get why people aren't super excited about
101:15Bryce Young in this offense, but also Chris Brazzle is completely free and I think has a potential to to have like
101:22probably more of a part-time role. I expect him to be the wide receiver three uh but over Xavier >> Legette, >> you know, over the course of the year
101:29and bring something to the table that helps the other guys on the field.
101:34Legette is more like I think of him more like um like further down uh the list is you know and I'm trying to think of the
101:44right way to explain this but like leg is someone that once you get the defense worrying about other things you get the
101:52ball in his hands and let him run right but like if the defense knows you're going to give the ball to Xavier Leette
101:58you've got problems >> McMillan works because like the defense can know you're going to target him a bunch and he'll still get open and it'll
102:04still add after the catch. Brazle if the defense knows you're going to go to him probably doesn't add a lot but if the
102:12the whole point of the offense is to throw to McMillan and Coker Brazzle helps you a lot more than Legette in
102:18making that happen and then of course you will throw to him sometimes and he doesn't even need to be a sacrificial X.
102:23He could play flanker. He could play Z.
102:26And you can have McMillan in the X, you know, beaten press coverage, and you can actually just tell Brazil like, "Dude,
102:32fly.
102:33>> You're just you're free to just fly off the line. Get deep. We'll we'll chuck it to you a little." Um, but when when he
102:41gets targets, it could be a high rate of big plays on those targets. And, you know, I think he'll play more and more
102:46as the season goes on because it'll help the offense uh just operate more efficiently and operate with more space underneath. Yeah, agreed. And and and
102:54the guy in the chat asking a couple times about the uh Dolphins wide receiver room. Uh yeah, Malik Washington and Jaylen Tolbert have been the guys
103:04who they have mentioned um about like these are the guys kind of building the most chemistry with with Malik um Willis
103:14so far. But I think once as as training camp goes on, we'll we'll hear more about how other guys are doing.
103:21Obviously, Bell won't be back until later on. Um, >> so I do, yeah, like Douglas not not the
103:32best prospect, but he's got >> no, >> he'll have some opportunity probably.
103:37>> Wide wide open depth chart, you know, one of these guys where I mean, who was that? Dolphins UDFA wide receiver a few
103:44years ago, >> the >> No. Uh, I think he tore his ACL shortly thereafter. Uh,
103:54there was a dude who like was actually, it wasn't Theo Whis, it was someone else. Um, help me out in the chat if you if you
104:02guys know, but there's, you know, we see dudes just like pop up for a season and then they go away.
104:08>> I think that's probably what would happen with Caleb Douglas, even if Waddle Waddle is a very funny answer.
104:17Um, uh, uh, hang on. Let me see if I can find this.
104:26>> Taj Washington.
104:28>> No, >> Preston Williams is in the chat.
104:31>> Preston Williams. That's who I was thinking of. Yeah, >> thank you, Mitch.
104:35>> Uh, so yeah, I mean, you know, you don't have this like long career. Um, Williams dealt with an injury, but uh, you know,
104:44you you just have like underpriced production and you you get him uh, you know, too cheap that that one season.
104:51So, I I don't want to pay much for uh, for Caleb Douglas. But, if I can get him in the 20th round and kind of get out
105:01ahead of a potential hype train on him or that, you know, he has the potential to be a starter, then I'm cool mixing
105:08him in uh, a little bit. So >> yeah, >> uh before we get out of here, you want to do you just want to mention the Blake
105:14Corm stuff? I shoot you up and then >> Yeah. Yeah. Uh Sean McVey on July 25th was asked about his expectations for
105:23Blake Quorm this year and how excited McVey is to watch him break out. McVey said, "I love Blake. I don't think he
105:30needs to do anything other than be himself. What I learned about Blake from his rookie year is that he did a great
105:35job with with the things he could control. I never felt anything other than steady from him. He had some adversity, some unfortunate injuries,
105:44and he still did some really good things, but the consistency and the internal security and fortitude that he had, I don't think it's by mistake that
105:52he comes in and has an amazing year last year. The way that he approaches it, I'd be surprised if he doesn't do anything
105:59other than get better and impact the team in a positive way. I love the human being. I love everything he's about. I
106:06think he's got incredible leadership capacity. Quote, "He's a stud and he's going to be a big factor in what we're going to do this year and love
106:14everything he's about." End quote. Also, this is one of the first times that Shawn McVey has been asked about Blake Cororm and he does not bring up Kairen
106:24Williams unprompted, which is something that he has like basically >> always done uh when when when he's asked about Blake Corm. Now, that doesn't mean
106:35that he doesn't still love Kairen Williams like I think he does, but I think he loves Blake Korum as well and
106:41talked earlier about Mike McDonald and his feelings on Zack Charbonate. This is kind of the same thing from from Shawn McVey. Like he's he's really big on this
106:51like this this guy's a really good talent and also like he's everything that we want to be about. So yeah, so
107:00big big part of the offense, expecting pretty much a kind of 50/50 split between between those two this year. And obviously there's contingent value
107:08either way on if either of those guys go down then the other just gets like incredible workload.
107:15>> Yeah. And there's been, you know, right now we're taking more of the early running backs than, you know, I've typically done in the past. Um, and a
107:24lot of builds that end up kind of like what we did here, although with more capital at the position. You end up with
107:30like four running backs through like six rounds and then you stop. Um, one of the guys that I don't have a lot of is Kron
107:37Williams >> because he he is, I think, a pretty fragile pick right now where you might just be paying too much for not great
107:46running back production in Kyron Williams. I mean, he certainly has upside, but the fragility there is is concerning. at on under 8% Blake Cororm
107:56but just 3% Kairen Williams. So that is pro he's like one of the few early round running backs in baseball that uh we're
108:05we're not even that interested in in these hyperfragile type builds.
108:08>> Yeah, McVey last off season kind of >> 2% on underdog as well or uh DraftKings 2% on DraftKings. McVey last offseason
108:17kind of tipped that hey things are heading in a direction where it's going to be more Blake Quorum like a little
108:23bit more of a split backfield and we ended up seeing that last year to where by the end of the year they were just
108:29like trading drives >> back and forth >> and and it was a situation where if if it was Blake Corm's drive and they get down
108:39to the red zone like they weren't subbing him out every time for Kron Williams [clears throat] like he was just staying out there for those drives.
108:47So I I I don't think that split goes away and I I I don't think that Korm gets any less than he got last year. I
108:55think it's only more >> Yeah.
108:56>> than he got last year. So we can go from this kind of 35% of of Cororm on the entire year uh in
109:062025 to like 50% in 2026.
109:11>> Yeah. Yeah. I think Cororm is So what you're saying is Blake Cororm is a smash. which I think he has he has
109:16standalone value in baseball and then then he has probably the best contingent
109:23value of any RB2 like teams RB2.
109:29>> Um question here. Do you like Bucky Irving or Bree Hall this year? Uh Bree Hall and I would guess that you're newer
109:36to watching the channel if that's your question because we do like Bree Hall.
109:40Um, we also like Bucky Irving, but he goes a couple rounds later, so we're, you know, heads up. Uh, I'm taking Bree
109:45Hall. But yeah, if you're new, make sure you're checking out the Coach Speak Index. Um, you guys got a ton of great
109:52stuff going on the Discord. You want to shout anything out?
109:54>> Yeah, man. Uh, all all the all the teams are back starting tomorrow. So, it's it's already been ramping up, like I
110:00said, with a with a handful of teams that have been back for uh about half a week, week or so. But, um, it's going to
110:06be insane. starting tomorrow, it's going to be like 14 hour days for me every day until January. Uh, but it's it's great.
110:14It's so much information. It's so much actionable information and it's all going into the Discord every single day.
110:21As soon as I watch the presser, I drop those notes in there. And uh, yeah, get in that Discord. Hell yeah. Um, if
110:29you're new, you can check out legendary upside.com as well, hopefully. And check out an article that I just wrote up on the
110:36rookie running backs. Matt Herby's had some great content on the site as well.
110:40Uh, talking through some dynasty stuff and is going to be writing up some more reddraft content here as we get head
110:47into the heart of reddraft season. I've got another article coming out uh hopefully this week on the sophomore running backs for best purposes. I'll be
110:56writing up my legendary running back article very soon. Um, and that in that article I cover the early round running backs and the guys who have the
111:04potential to absolutely smash make the season about did you have this guy? Uh, and kind of go through and go into the
111:12future and see what the legendary seasons look like for each of the running backs going in the first two rounds. But I this year my hope is
111:19assuming that you know the the writing you know writing is is tough you know with how long it takes sometimes. My
111:25hope is to actually write up into the fifth and sixth round um the potential for upside in those running backs because we are seeing this year some
111:35upside get priced up right we've talked about this throughout the summer that you know guys like a trevon Henderson are more expensive than they typically
111:43have been bashalt tudin etc we're paying a premium on some of that upside so I kind of want to dig into that element
111:50more I'm hoping to have that out in the next uh you know some at some point in August. So, you know, look for all the
111:57stuff I got going on there. But if you're drafting in these best team in these best tournaments, uh we have you
112:04covered multiple ways. Now, the legup subscription now comes with the kickstand which has the ability for you to upload custom rankings or just use
112:13the auto updated leg up rankings. It displays much like the Sidekick. It's not dynamic rankings, just static rankings, but you have the on the clock
112:22notification sound. player tags for teammates, quarterback, uh whether or not you've drafted players with overlapping by weeks, your exposure, uh
112:32bring backs, all that good stuff. Just help kind of keep you oriented in the draft. If you do want to check out the
112:38sidekick, which is what we were drafting here, that is driven by Shady Advice Sim Driven Math. Uh helps you get down uh
112:46you know, a lot more volume if that's what you're looking to do, whether it's slow drafts or multitabling, but also just draft a better portfolio. That's
112:53available at legendaryupsite.com/ssidekick.
112:56To review this team quickly before we get out of here, we drafted a 24104 Drake May and Jaylen Herz. Stacked both
113:04of them up, but primarily May. Uh we have a running back room of Jeremiah Love, Josh Jacobs, Chuba Hubard, and Jordan Mason. Just with those four, we
113:12have the the upside of of Love and Jacobs probably being two uh smashes in the playoffs hopefully, but then Hubard and Mason probably helping us get there
113:21earlier on in the year if we deal with any kind of uh issues with Love starting out slow or Jacob's missing time or
113:28whatever. Our wide receiver room, Jackson Smith and Jigba, AJ Brown stacked with May, Mike Evans, Josh DS, Casey Conpsion, Trey Tucker, Dantavian
113:36Wixs with Herz, Darnell Mooney, Chris Brazzle, and Caleb Douglas. And our four tight ends, a falling Isaiah likely all the way to pick 140, Hunter Henry
113:46stacked with May, Gunnar Helm, and Eli Sters stacked with Jaylen Herz as the Eagles power twink F. [laughter]
113:56All right, that'll do it for us. Thanks for watching. Uh I'll be back tomorrow with uh ADP Chasing on the Ship Chasing
114:02channel. I'll be back here tomorrow as well for Top Guy Tuesday with Michael Dubner who'll be joining me to talk through some of the medical uh reports
114:11that we have on these players. Dr.
114:13Dubner in the house. So, thanks for watching. We'll be back here next Monday for uh another edition of Legendary Coach Speak later.
