NegativeProjectionOct 26, 2026
Matt Waldman advises adding Omar Cooper after a big week but cautions against starting him against tougher defenses. Two of his three long plays against Miami came from broken coverage and a near-miss defensive angle, suggesting regression risk; touchdown was described as a gimme. Prior week production also came from one big play on a broken play, indicating unsustainable production pattern.PositiveValueSep 28, 2026
Omar Cooper is a viable fantasy option for managers needing tight end help; he saw significant slot usage and, despite some drops, demonstrated good positioning and the ability to make plays on inaccurate throws. He is projected to provide TE1-level production.NegativeValueMay 7, 2026
Fernando Mendoza prefers Omar Cooper Jr. over Sadi Strickland but still places him on the do-not-draft list due to steep ADP (108–109) and Jets uncertainty. The risk of new coaching staff (Aaron Glenn may not retain his job) potentially drafting a high-end receiver talent in 2027 (Jeremiah Smith or Cam Coleman) could render Cooper Jr. a tertiary option, making his current draft cost unjustifiable.NegativeRoleApr 27, 2026
Omar Cooper Jr.'s role in the Jets offense is uncertain and contingent on how the team deploys Kenyan Sadi. Bob Harris questions whether Sadi will be used as a second receiver ahead of Cooper Jr. in 12 personnel, or whether Cooper Jr. might be better suited to the slot in three-receiver packages, depending on his acclimation and skill-after-catch ability.PositiveValueMar 19, 2026
Brandon Angelo identifies Omar Cooper Jr. as the next viable quarterback option after the top tier, projecting late-teens draft capital and noting his unique brand of football and carry-yourself demeanor make him tougher to find; positioned as having a solid floor despite potentially not having a super high ceiling, making him a viable long-term dynasty option.
