0:00Today, we're breaking down all things zero RB, including what this ancient strategy actually is, when you should be starting to draft running backs, how
0:07many you should be taking, and which ones you should be taking when you do so. At the end, we're going to be going
0:12through a RotoWire mock draft and showing you guys all of our lessons in practice. So, very, very exciting. It's your boy Ian Hartitz and Jaggermayk
0:18coming at you, team RotoWire, to talk zero RB. And Jagger, you and me have been sick enough in the head to be
0:24drafting all year long throughout the summer, and it does seem like the world as a whole, even the best ball bros, who
0:30hate drafting running backs early, have actually started to embrace the more boomer-esque strategy of taking multiple running backs in the top three rounds.
0:37So, that's not what we're talking about today. We're talking about zero RB, where I would define it as you're not really taking your first running back
0:44until at least round five, round six.
0:46Are we on the same page there?
0:48>> Yes. It You basically want to fill out your your starters elsewhere before you're even thinking about running back. Otherwise, you're just kind of lying. So.
0:58>> [laughter] >> I've seen some people throw the zero RB around, and I'm like, "No, you drafted one in round three. That's hero RB. It's
1:05a completely different thing that we'll get to another day." But, same page there. And And Jagger, for the record, like, we're doing this in terms of if
1:12your draft is going a certain way, and you have to start embracing zero RB because that makes the most sense, what
1:17you should do in that situation, okay? I never want to enter any draft with a preconceived strategy. That's an easy way to miss out on value. If we get the
1:241.01 in our home league draft, I'm taking Jahmyr Gibbs, even if I think zero RB happens to be a cool strategy
1:29this year.
1:30>> 100%. And I always And I love that you bring that up cuz what I always tell people is that a fantasy draft, you're
1:36playing jazz. You are not playing orchestra music where you're reading off a script because you will crash doing that. You Like, if you get sniped on who
1:45you want, or there's a huge run that you don't expect to happen, and running back you This I think it's actually smart
1:52that you're doing this type because I think running back is so shallow that you're going to get a run, and you're
1:57going to need to know how to pivot to something like zero RB, but you definitely want to go in and say, "Oh,
2:02I'm just going to skip out on value in the name of doing this particular style draft."
2:07>> Like Bruce Lee said, be like water. That is how I'm generally trying to draft fantasy teams as well. Not sure if
2:13that's what a Bruce Lee was getting at back in the day, but we'll go ahead and take that advice anyway. So, I do want
2:18to reiterate though, Jager, and I love the point you made about again, kind of filling out your whole starting lineup.
2:22You don't necessarily have to do the whole thing. For instance, I just think when we're going to be drafting on kind
2:26of sleeper ADP going on, some of the late round quarterback value, like we talked about it last week. It really is
2:32wild. Like being able to get Jared Goff in round 11, having guys like Kyler Murray, Baker Mayfield, Malik Willis, Sam Darnold, like there's so many good
2:39late round quarterback options that I'm not going to necessitate necessitate that we actually go ahead and take a Josh Allen in round three or so, but
2:46it's optional, man. Like you can do it because again, the big thing here, we realize we are not taking running backs
2:51likely in the top 20, all right? We're going to have a weaker RB room on paper, but the whole idea behind that is to
2:56have a freaking super team at wide receiver, and ideally one at quarterback and tight end. So, for me, Jagers, I've been running through some mocks, you
3:03know, pre-show and stuff. Usually in the first five rounds, I'm coming away with four freaking baller wide receivers, and often it's either Brock Bowers in the
3:11middle or end part of round two, or Colston Loveland in round four. Those are my two main targets that aren't that
3:16aren't wide receivers in the first four rounds.
3:19>> Oh man, it's >> [laughter] >> I would hate to be in the same room because like that's exactly the way I'd
3:23want to do it. It's like am I getting Brock Bowers? It's not that I don't like Trey McBride, but if you you got to pick
3:29somebody to have a little bit of regression, I'm picking him this season, and I think that Trey Colston Loveland has that same upside later. So, I'm
3:37getting him early and often, um and it particularly in this format, I don't even feel bad to get him early and often
3:44because that's a strategy, you know.
3:46>> And hey, know the your provider, know where you're playing. We have a really cool ADP tool over at RotoWire that
3:50again, just shows you guys based on whether you're on Sleeper or ESPN or more of a high stakes format where these
3:56different guys are going to be going. So again, don't hate the player, hate the ADP. I'm with you on Trey McBride. If we
4:01were getting a discount on McBride like versus Bowers, that'd be one thing, but he's actively being drafted ahead of Brock Bowers on Sleeper and ESPN. I'm
4:09not going to have many if any shares of him if that is going to be persisting into August. So with all that said,
4:13Jager, again, we're drafting wide receivers, quarterbacks, and tight ends in the first four to five rounds and then turning our attention to running
4:20backs. So I want to look at those running backs because in more drafts than not, we're going to have about 19
4:24of them off the board until it comes time for us to actually start taking these guys for zero RB build. So Travis
4:30Etienne, Javonte Williams, Josh Jacobs, that's kind of the line, all right?
4:34These guys are more often than not going inside the first three rounds, early parts of round four. The guys we're starting to turn our attention to,
4:40Jager, is going to be Trayvion Henderson, Cam Akers, Quinshon Judkins, David Montgomery, DeAndre Swift, that sort of tier of lower end RB2s. So I
4:48wanted to roll through some of these guys because let's face it, man, it is zero RB. It's a more peculiar strategy,
4:53so not every running back is going to be a great fit for this. And starting off with Trayvion Henderson, Jager, I know
4:58some people are just balking at the idea that Trayvion, you know, the RB2 on his own team is anywhere near RB20 overall.
5:05I do think there's a nice upside case for him, you know, he takes a nice step into year two, he gets more involved as
5:09a pass catcher. Like I can paint that picture in my mind. That said, when I am drafting my first running back in round
5:14five, I would prefer it not to be someone like Trayvion Henderson where if he's only getting eight to 10 touches in
5:20weeks one and two, man, it wouldn't be the most shocking thing in the world.
5:24>> I am opposite of you. Right now we're both on the bus and you're you're looking at the wall in my opinion
5:31because what I tell people it's like I guess the bet with Trayvion Henderson is a top 50 drafted running back who had a thousand total yards with only
5:41like 43% of the snaps at one point, you know?
5:46Is Rhamondre Stevenson going to fumble?
5:48Yes, you know, >> [laughter] >> like let's just put it that way. Has he always been efficient? No. So, even though like James Koh just dropped some
5:58uh reception perception on rushing and like you take everything as part of the equation and not as gospel, I'm willing to make that bet. This would be
6:05best-case scenario if I start out zero RB and TreVeyon Henderson is RB1 in my book. That's where I'm at.
6:11>> So, you don't see like for me it's like D'Andre Swift, David Montgomery. That's just safer volume for me. Now, could we
6:17be exploring the dead zone with someone like David Montgomery? Yes, I don't think he's perfect for every build, but I was thinking more TreVeyon. He's
6:24someone where hey, if he can be my RB3, like that's a flex option where I don't necessarily have to be relying on out of
6:30the gate. The upside's huge. I'm not arguing with you there.
6:33>> Mhm. Yeah, I get I I guess if you're going for safety, that's the way to do it because I don't think we have a dead
6:39zone. We have a zombie zone where there is live safety people, but I think David Montgomery's going to bite you and then
6:47you're part of the walking dead, man.
6:49Like that that he's one where I I see a a low floor and a low ceiling. D'Andre Swift, we talk all day, baby. Raishad
6:57White, I like in this format because you're going to be hammering running back and he's just as risky as TreVeyon Henderson, let's be honest, you know,
7:06that's that is both an insult to Henderson and uh props to White at the same time. And I know I'm talking out of both sides of
7:13my mouth.
7:14>> [laughter] >> I will say I mean Henderson, unfortunately on Sleeper right now he's going pick 47. ESPN pick 60. I mean
7:21White's going outside the top 60 on both. Round six, TreVeyon Henderson, Jager, you have my freaking attention.
7:26It's just that early part of round five or maybe I'm getting a little bit scared, but also maybe I shouldn't be
7:31drafting like a scared little [ __ ] Jager. Maybe I should be embracing some of this volatility and the upside that
7:37can come with TreVeyon. So, we'll see what goes on there. How do you feel about Kenneth Walker and Charbonnet cuz these are guys where again, I do think
7:45again, we're taking L's at RB by just not drafting one in the first four or five rounds. Scatback and Judkins, they're cheap as they are coming off
7:54those devastating injuries, which obviously matters, but if you were trying to find a running back in this low-end RB2 range, someone we're
8:01drafting as RB22, who could be back in the top 12 as early as like week two just based on looking pretty good and
8:07looking healthy out there. I think Cam Scatback is that guy.
8:10>> 100% and both of us have been on record, particularly like we we did a tiers episode, like known Giants haters, but
8:18when you do this style of drafting, you need to move to the other side of the bus. Like, you know, I'm going to be
8:24staring at the wall really sad on Scatback and almost any style of drafting, but in zero RB, particularly in this range, like cuz like again, I'm
8:33on our ADP tool as well, where you have Henderson Scatback Judkins Montgomery, depending on how you have this sorted. Around that range, you need
8:40to be positive on all of these guys because if you're depressed now, wait till you get two rounds later.
8:47>> [laughter] >> But again, we are playing catch-up here and I'm not going to lie, guys, like when we actually probably get the grades
8:53from our mock draft tool from this, they're not going to be great because zero RB seldom does look great until it
8:58does and we start having some running back injuries go down and we start seeing our wide receiver firepower win out. So again,
9:04those are going to kind of be the five or six running backs we're looking at more so end of round four into round
9:09five, early parts of round six. After that Jager it's not pretty, all right? We don't have too many guarantees in this range
9:16because we're already past the top 24 or so running backs. So we have round one Seahawks RB Dee Jay Price. He's going to
9:21be available in that round six to nine range. We got Tony Pollard, a zero RB drafter's delight, you could argue because he is guaranteed for a good
9:28amount of volume. And then we have a bunch of ambiguous backfields, man. The Steelers, the Panthers, the Broncos, the Commanders and the Vikings. Situations
9:36where again, I think they're kind of perfect actually to be targeting 4-0 RB builds because it's not that we hate those situations necessarily. It's just
9:43we have uncertainty around the pecking order right now. When there's uncertainty, that leads to the price again dropping. But once we do figure
9:49out who's going to be the lead for Pittsburgh, who's going to be the lead for Washington, who's going to be in the
9:53lead in Minnesota, those guys are going to rise in a hurry. So, it's a good opportunity for us to draft dudes
9:57potentially closer to their floor than their ceiling.
10:01>> Yeah, I definitely Again, I go back to what you were saying about Excuse me, what I was saying about like
10:08the zombie range in here of guys cuz like I was actually just now looking over here and I'm like, man, maybe it's
10:14not too bad because you could make the bull case for Hubbard.
10:19Again, I always like to play different roles when you're you're making these decisions, particularly in best ball.
10:27Like Ramondre Stevenson, I know I just said like he's got to fumble, but what if we do get what we get last year?
10:32There's a lot of that upside there. The one I'm circling here, man, how What are your thoughts on Kamara, guy?
10:39>> I think him and Blake Corum, those are the two guys I actually meant to mention as well. They're these really fun and I
10:44put Rico Dowdle in the same conversation where Shout out to Mike Wright from the Fantasy Footballers. He coined this phrase a couple years ago, flex with
10:51benefits, Jagger. All right, we got the flex stand-alone potential value there. That's why they're going top 35, you know, 12, maybe 15 touches on a week where you're
11:00going to play with the lead. But then, if something happens to DeAndre, I said if something happens to Kyren Williams, like we're talking about instant RB1s on
11:06offense.
11:07>> RB1s. Yes, exactly. Where I think I think you got some of these guys where they have some of their Like you said,
11:15their flex stand-alone value where you can put in there, hope Kamara guy gets a touchdown or something like that, but you have some really good bets at what
11:23if DeAndre Swift turns back into a pumpkin? Let's put it this way, he wasn't exactly like not a pumpkin. Even though I'm very pro DeAndre Swift, he
11:31was just like pretty good. He wasn't like really, really, really [ __ ] good. Uh Ja'Mycal Hasty, there's a lot of like risk there that I mean, Blake
11:41Corum, man, it's like you said, I like him and we've officially went to the range now where we're out of the zombie
11:47zone. Here's people where even no matter what format I'm in, I'm back in on these guys. Like if even if I've gotten some
11:54of these heavy RBs at the top, Rico Dowdle, he what do you what do you 66 overall pick an underdog right now?
12:01There's a lot of upside there for what he gave us two seasons in a row.
12:05>> And dude, again, some of these guys like Rico Dowdle going even cheaper in more of the home league formats, which I
12:10know, it's July, guys. We are talking about this. ADPs are going to change as we get into the season and everything.
12:15But hey, for right now, Rico outside the top 100 picks on ESPN. And mostly it's just a big bet on the Steelers offensive
12:22line being pretty good these days and Aaron Rodgers being an old man who just wants to get the football out of his
12:26hands as fast as possible so our running backs rack up PPR points. So, I love leaving these drafts with at least one
12:32Steeler. Same similar sentiment with the Vikings. I'm putting that chip on Jordan Mason right now. I do think he could be
12:38a potentially cheaper version of someone like David Montgomery. What if we actually get some scoring opportunities in Minnesota this year? Fifth fewest
12:45rush attempts inside the 5-yard line last season could mean big things ahead for Jordan Mason. And then with the Washington Commanders, man, like there
12:52is something to the idea that the Commanders is this year's version of Travis Etienne on the Jaguars or Javonte Williams on the Cowboys where yeah, we
12:59got some new faces there. We got some uncertainty, but the second we know who's going to be leading the way, big
13:04things could be on the horizon.
13:06Currently, I'm thinking that's Zamir White, Jalen Warren, but again, it's one of these things where if everyone and their mother is all of a sudden just
13:12pushing Zamir White up into the top 30s, if Jaylen Warren's hanging there late, man, I'm okay putting a chip there as
13:17well. I just want a piece of these uncertain backfields.
13:20>> 100% and that's the way to play it because I'm really bullish on Zamir White, but depending on you know, even in zero RB where you can
13:29start pivoting off running back and pick up a little bit of receiver depth. If someone's going to take Roschon Johnson White early and
13:37there's a tight end two that I like a lot later, then I'm just going to go get Jacory Crossky-Merit. It's again, I want to reiterate, you need to
13:46really think about the bull case of every running back from here on out. If if you're going to do this particular
13:53strategy here. And the other running backs that you brought up, I think Jordan Mason, you're right.
13:58Like we're not talking about him enough as just a post hype sleeper because some of the reason why that backfield didn't
14:06have a lot of attempts and a lot of in the red zone is that quarterback play.
14:12If J.J. McCarthy plays better or Kyler Murray plays well, they're going to be in the red zone a lot more often. So
14:19>> Really could use that from Kyler for my bank account and the future of my children. Just throwing that out there.
14:24Uh >> Yes. Yes.
14:26>> [laughter] >> Last point here, Jonathan Brooks, guys.
14:28This one's wild. I was hosting a FFPC draft the other week and like he literally went ahead of Chuba Hubbard.
14:34So I'm worried that as we record this in the middle of July, it's going to be Jonathan Brooks sleeper. What are you
14:39guys talking about? It could flip, but for the time being he is going well outside the top 120 picks. Still on
14:45sleeper on ESPN. And he's right there with Rico Dowdle, man. Where again, we like him enough in that range just for
14:51his handcuff upside, but also as we saw with Rico and Chuba last year it is a sort of situation where you shouldn't be
14:56that shocked if Brooks actually poses his own takeover threat as the season goes on. So those are going to be again
15:02the main targets in that round six through nine range. Generally, Jagger just kind of going through the mocks, seeing where the ADP is lying, seeing
15:08where your late round options are going to be. I would really, really like to have four RBs by the end of round nine.
15:14So once we get those in there, again, not going to be dudes who are necessarily going to be racking inside the top 10 immediately, but we got some
15:21best case, you know, injury contingent upside, and we got some dudes who at a minimum we can slot in, and we're not
15:26going to be projected for freaking zeros out here, cuz that does bring us into my last point before we actually get into
15:31drafting, ladies and mostly gentlemen.
15:33It's what to do with these final few bench spots, okay? Because as much as it might look nice to have these high-end
15:39handcuffs, Tank Bigsby, Isaiah Pacheco, Raheem Mostert, Brian Robinson, Mike Washington. I'm cool having one or two of those, but I don't know about you,
15:47Juggernaut. Personally, I prefer stashing my bench with all of those sort of handcuffs, more so on teams where I took a Bijan Robinson early. And then I
15:55also got, you know, a Josh Jacobs or Javonte Williams. Like, if my RB spots are set, okay, I might as well just have
16:01these super high upside injury contingent handcuffs on my bench, cuz I'm not removing my starting RBs anyway, unless there's an injury happening. I
16:08think with a zero RB build, you got to be looking a little bit closer at guys like Kenneth Gainwell, Tajae Spears,
16:14Ke'Shawn Mitchell.
16:15I'm going to say MarShawn Lloyd. I think that's a personal problem I need to talk through with my therapist. I'm not going
16:19to necessarily recommend you guys doing it, but there is that different type of player, Juggernaut, where again, no, I don't think we have the same takeover
16:2620-plus touch upside, but you know what?
16:28For a zero RB team, where we could be looking at problematic rosters with byes weeks and stuff, having someone like Tajae Spears, who you can at least feel
16:35good about giving you 10 or 11 touches, that can go a long way sometimes.
16:39>> Yeah, and you I mean, you're actually teaching me something here, cuz I didn't think about it that way as far as like
16:46what type of backup running back that you target, you know? Do you want someone who gets touches, or do you want
16:52someone who's only going to get touches in contingent of an injury or something like that? Because that's always a great question of like what type of handcuff
17:00you want to take here, because it's like you said, if you're going to take Bijan Robinson, if Bijan Robinson gets injured, you have bigger problems, my my
17:08G, you know? Like, like you're already like it's already kind of biffed from then on out. So, you take it someone
17:15like Mike Washington can give you trade value for a receiver or one of your other positions that you didn't take as
17:22one of your early picks later. Whereas right now, like you said, Tajae Spears 11 touches can do a lot more for you
17:30because you took JSN and A.J. Brown as your first two picks or something like that, you know? So, I definitely like the the real big
17:38differentiator of what type of running backs that you should be taking.
17:42Especially Marshawn Lloyd, man.
17:44Dude, I just need to see it. I want to see it. I don't care if he's good or bad, I just want to see it.
17:50>> [laughter] >> Dude, he played one quarter or so of a preseason game and LaFleur was just feeding this dude the football. I think
17:57he wants to see it as well. Please, man.
17:59Just If it crashes and burns and it doesn't work out, okay, fine, but I just want to see it. I'm right there with
18:05you, man. Last point before we get drafting, guys. I do want to bring up again some of the luxury of using an
18:09early round pick on a quarterback and tight end. You just need one, okay? If you draft Josh Allen, don't worry about
18:15having a backup quarterback, okay? You will figure out that bye week later.
18:19Similar sentiment if you take Brock Bowers or a Cole Kmet and Loveland early. Like I go back to that quote from
18:24I forget what coach it was, but he was talking about Peyton Manning and I think Jon Gruden or one of the assistants
18:28asked him like, "Coach, how come we don't actually, you know, put the backup in there? He's got no reps all week."
18:33And the coach just said, "You know, if 18 goes down, we're [ __ ] and we don't practice [ __ ] okay?" So, that's what
18:38we need to be thinking about as well with our quarterbacks, with our tight ends when we're using an early round pick on it, okay? If we are waiting for
18:44Jared Goff in round 11, then yeah, I get tacking on a Kyler Murray or someone like that as well. But again, just
18:50something to keep in mind because if we're going zero on RB, we want to have those extra shots in the later rounds.
18:55Having an early round quarterback and tight end does give us a little bit of advantage from that standpoint. So, with that, my friends, let's draft. All
19:02right, guys, you are looking at RotoWire's very much a free mock draft tool, okay? You do have to sign up, all
19:07right? We want an email address, but that's it, all right? No dollars, you can come in, you set up your mock
19:12drafts, do whatever scoring you want, add some keepers. Very, very cool free tool that again I invite you guys to check out on your own. We'll put the
19:18link to that in the description, but I got three of them already set up for Jagger and myself. One at pick three,
19:23one at pick six, and one at pick 10.
19:25Again, I cannot recommend this enough.
19:27Be like water in your fantasy draft. Do not force any singular draft strategy, but today we are talking about zero RB,
19:33so I will be doing that either if Jahmyr Gibbs or Bijan Robinson fall to me at pick three. So, with that, Jagger, let's
19:40get after it and just get drafted, man.
19:42So, as we start off, naturally, Jahmyr Gibbs did in fact fall to us at pick three, but we are in the business of
19:47again exploring what zero RB looks like in the year 2026. So, let's tack on Ja'Marr Chase to the squad. As we look
19:55at our big board again, got this big wall of running backs that kind of go on here at the end of round one into round
20:01two. Just missed out on Brock Bowers by one pick, so that's unfortunate. Would have been looking there, but as we talked about earlier, Trey McBride,
20:09someone we're not super in in round two at least. Josh Allen would need to be round three at least for me to think
20:15about that. So, Jagger, we'll be back on the board and again, for the purposes of this exercise, looking very much just at
20:21the wide receivers. So, A.J. Brown, sound pretty good for you?
20:25>> That's exactly who I was going to suggest if he was there. Only other one I would take would be maybe Chris Olave,
20:30but A.J. Brown, man, we're going to regret not taking him round one.
20:33>> 100%. We didn't have to take him in round one, we got him at the end of round two, so love that. Josh Allen went
20:39at the turn. Again, people continuing to pound running backs, and guess what, when that happens, we get wide receivers falling right back to us. So, couple
20:46guys in this range that I think are fine. Olave, DeVonta Smith, I moved Jaylen Waddle up my ranks, but again, when we are trying to play that ADP game
20:54and say who can I get now and then also have a chance of getting later, I do think Chris Olave or George Pickens
20:59makes a lot of sense here. So, you cool with Olave, Jagger?
21:02>> Yes, because I want the PPR value to offset the A.J. Brown big play. I don't know if you draft like that, so.
21:09>> Yeah, I know. I mean, I see where you're coming from with that. So, I just think we have three guys who could very easily
21:14and probably are projecting to finish top 12 wide receivers. So, I'm very happy with that. No Colston Loveland for us. We also got Lamar Jackson going, so
21:22probably going to be going late quarterback and tight end here. I will say from this situation, man, and by the way, everyone in these drafts, three
21:29starting wide receiver spots. I added an extra flex as well, so it's going to be 17 rounds of full PPR. This would be a
21:36situation as I was kind of drafting earlier, Jager, and figured it out. I'm cool with going one more running back here. I mean, sorry, one more wide
21:42receiver here. That's fine, but I would be careful about pushing your first running back to round six when you don't have a quarterback or
21:51tight end early, cuz that means we're going to need some extra bullets late to be able to attack those onesie spots.
21:56>> Yeah, and this is actually my first time using the new mock draft system right here, guys. I'm not even trying to sell
22:03this, and I'm surprised that Colston Loveland went as early as he did on there, cuz that's really, really good logic. Here's where I'd say where B lack
22:10water, I think we take our advice and take the running back value, honestly. I know this is not what we're should we
22:16should be doing.
22:18Ah, now that I'm looking more forward to this.
22:20>> Let's push it one more. Yeah.
22:22>> It It It's Emeka Egbuka. Cool.
22:24>> Yes. Yeah.
22:25>> Same page.
22:26>> Now we don't need to touch wide receiver for a while, really. We don't need to.
22:30>> We got our three and a flex, all right?
22:32I will probably not be drafting a wide receiver again, especially because we didn't take the quarterback or tight end until we're in the double digit rounds
22:39at this point. So, and hey, you know, running [clears throat] backs were flying early. Now people are playing catch up on wide receiver. That did
22:45allow guys like TreVeyon Henderson and company to still be there for us. So, you were talking them up early, Jager. I
22:51see where you're coming from. TreVeyon or Cam Akers, who you got?
22:55>> I'm taking Henderson here. I'd rather have the good offense, so.
22:59>> And that is the thing, too. So, I'm not I don't want to be a Travion hater and we were talking about while switching
23:04around guys. Jagger noted a Patriots fan, Ian noted Ohio State fan. So, if you guys do think there's a little bit
23:10of bias going on here, you could be right. But again, even trying to put that [laughter] aside, how could you not
23:15believe in some of the upside at all?
23:16So, again, seeing as some of these quarterbacks go off the board on a different build, maybe we'd be looking at, you know, a Caleb Williams or a
23:23Justin Herbert or something like that.
23:25But today, obviously, we have this whole lot running back we are trying to fill.
23:28So, bout D'Joun Montgomery, Tuton, and Swift went between our last pick. Again, some guys were would have been a little bit cooler if they fell. But takes us
23:36now to round six, Jagger. I want nothing to do with R.J. Harvey, all right? And if I'm wrong, you guys can throw it in
23:42my face in a few months here. But while I got the clicker, we are not taking R.J. Harvey. So, that aside, Jaylen
23:49Warren and Jadarian Price, what you thinking?
23:52>> I would rather have Kalen Monangai, I'll be honest. I'd rather have >> See, we can get him later though. That's
23:57that's all. I'm not against Monangai, but we can take one of these guys and probably get the other dude next round.
24:02>> Oh, man.
24:04>> [sighs and gasps] >> I think I would take >> just take the round one running back on the Seahawks, defending Super Bowl
24:08champs? Is that too crazy of a take?
24:11>> chase upside, man. Like and this could be a late season play, you know?
24:15>> And hey, by chasing that upside, we now know some of that texture of the later round running backs we're looking for.
24:20We might have to fill out some open weeks early when Travion and Jadarian aren't playing as much as we want them
24:25to. Shouldn't be looking so much at the handcuffs. So, sure enough, again, no running backs went at the turn because team one and two were taking their guys
24:33earlier than later. So, now we again have the opportunity to say, "F U, R.J.
24:37Harvey."
24:39God, where is Monangai, man? He's still going down there. Jagger, if we miss out on Monangai, I will apologize to you
24:45every day for at least the next week.
24:47Let's go with Jaylen Warren right now and just see if the man can slide to us.
24:53Oh, he did.
24:53>> Oh, man. What's killing me is we're getting sniped on like every on like anytime I want to pivot off running back
25:00or receiver, like I would want Kyle Pitts a couple of rounds that we had before or Jalen Hurts. Sniped on those.
25:07Then we come back around. I was like, "Ah, Kahlil Mckinnon guy." Sniped on that. Trevor Lawrence.
25:12>> You got to have this tool make it worse, man. I'm tired of not getting every single player I want, you know?
25:17>> When keep it a real goes wrong, this is what happens.
25:20>> [laughter] >> Hey, here we go then. We missed out on Mckinnon guy. I would argue we even got the next best thing though in Blake
25:25Corum. Let's go ahead and lock him down.
25:27And look guys, this was what I was mentioning before. I really want four running backs inside of the first nine rounds. We managed to do that with a
25:34completely loaded wide receiver room.
25:37Ja'Marr Chase, A.J. Brown, Chris Olave, Ameka Egbuka holding it down for the fellas. So, now Jager, as we look at it,
25:43there's still a couple running backs.
25:45Again, I said four and nine, so we would still have one more pick if we wanted to. I do think Rashad White, Jordan
25:51Mason, Jonathan Brooks like these guys are certainly in our conversation.
25:54Nothing wrong with Kenneth Gainwell as well. As we see though with this with this ADP, this is about the range where
26:00the guys start dropping off, all right?
26:01So, on average we don't see these players usually drafted until around 11.
26:05So, I think this is where we can kind of move our attention back to quarterback and tight end because we are going to
26:10need multiple players. So, we do have Mahomes sitting atop the QB ranks.
26:14Personally, I know we can get Jared Goff or Stafford in round 11, get a Baker or a Kyler after. I'd be looking a little
26:22more at tight end because man, it does get gross here in a hurry. So, personally, not a big Gaskin guy, but we
26:28do have Jake Ferguson, Travis Kelce, Dallas Goedert, Mark Andrews, and Isaiah Likely sitting out here for us. Jager, this was one of the things I realized
26:37too cuz first couple drafts I was doing, I got a Bowers, I got a Kincaid, and Love it. And yeah, you feel fantastic
26:42about that. Don't get too cute at tight end, man, cuz when you're staring down the barrel of, you know, Konyark Sedeeq
26:48or Juwan Johnson here in a one tight end redraft, it doesn't feel great.
26:52>> Yeah, cuz I looking at the depth we had at quarterback to tight end. I I say we double up here and
26:58>> Yeah.
26:59>> I don't >> [sighs and gasps] >> I Mark Andrews is my favorite, but we can play the tight end game. I just feel
27:04like we keep getting sniped when we don't do it. So like I I I like Mark and Strange the most. I don't know why
27:12Britain Strange is still down there.
27:14Like it but I'd have him ranked higher than a lot of these guys.
27:18>> What do you think about going Let's go with Mark Andrews right now?
27:20>> Mhm.
27:21>> We could go depending on who's available.
27:25Cuz yeah, again, this is one of those side effects. I mean, where were the wide receiver Okay, I do see a few of
27:29them that went off. So kind of missed out on that last range of wide receiver.
27:34If we had already taken an early round tight end, I think a wide receiver would have been in play there. But, you know
27:39what? We got four ballers. I'm not going to be losing sleep over that. That is going to be taking us though back to
27:43quarterback where I think Brock Purdy at this range, man, is absolutely awesome.
27:48And this is redraft where stacks are fine, but they're not exactly something we need to be going out of our way for
27:53the same way maybe we do with the best ball tournament. So you like Brock Purdy or do you say, "Hey, you know what?
27:58What's really the difference between Brock Purdy, Bo Nix, Jared Goff? Let's get another good tight end while we're here."
28:04>> I like Britain Strange and Chigo Okonkwo and I don't hate A.J. Barner. So I would rather look at the tight end
28:11>> Yeah, we can wait a little bit on >> Do you want to go cuz we are picking and this is another thing that they do to
28:16you guys when you're looking at your opponents like Team two took Drake May, took Justin Herbert. Team one took Josh Allen. You
28:23know, it's a computer. They could draft another quarterback. I would not expect humans to be drafting quarterbacks though based on these picks that they
28:30already made. And by the way, Team two, you took Drake May. Why do you Why are you even taking Justin Herbert? Be
28:35better, computer. So I would say here, man, Rashod White makes a lot of sense for us.
28:40>> Yeah, like what you went over there, I'm like, "Ooh, I think I'd rather have even Jordan Mason as well." So
28:46>> They did in fact take Stafford, but that's okay. We didn't really want Stafford anyway, so I'm going to go ahead and say let's get Brock Purdy and
28:53feel good enough about our quarterback.
28:55So, Rashad White our fifth RB. Again, we are drafting out of the three hole right here. Trayveon C. Jaylen Warren, Blake
29:01Corum, and Rashad White. So, honestly with Brock Purdy, I don't even feel a super big need to get a second quarterback. He's kind of like that line
29:10where if I'm able to get him or one of those guys before him, feeling pretty good. It's after where I feel like I'm
29:15the multiple shots in the chamber. So, tight end again, we're going to have a chance to Jager to go around this turn.
29:20Everyone next to us, Tucker Kraft, Isaiah Likely. Team two has two tight ends. Team Team one has only one tight end. So,
29:28reasonable chance that we're still going to get one of our guys. Any of these wide receivers striking your fancy? We do have four. I'd like to end up with
29:35six. And after this range of guys, it does get pretty gross.
29:39>> Yeah, it's Antonio Williams, I could see like especially if I'm going to >> Shaheed?
29:47>> Shaheed I like >> [laughter] >> better in best ball, man. He's I know that's a terrible tag, but better him best ball.
29:56>> Omar Cooper, Travis Hunter. He's a pure handcuff wide receiver. So, you said Antonio Williams. I'll roll with you.
30:02Let's go with Antonio.
30:03Comes back around the turn to us. Again, one tight end, Juwan Johnson. That is okay though. So, let's go ahead and get
30:10our second tight end here. You said Chigoziem Okonkwo before. I love that pick. One of the better late round tight ends on the board in my humble opinion.
30:17So, just a couple more picks. Now, again, I would like to get one more running back and probably one more receiver. Then we got to get our DST and
30:25kicker going on. So, looking at our running back room. All right, Tank Bigsby, Mike Washington. They really, you know, Jager, if we had a choice of
30:33like Tajae Spears or some of these other guys we were talking about, Woody Marks, Tyron Tracy, Kenneth Gainwell. Okay, that would be one thing. We did a pretty
30:42good job though of not taking any running backs that are going to be zeros for us though. Ra Sha White, Corum,
30:47Warren, Price, and Henderson, they should all have decent enough weekly roles that we can at least somewhat depend on for flex or hopefully RB2
30:54level goodness. I like me some Tank Bigsby this year, man.
30:59>> He's a good flex. Let's put it this way, if anything would happen to Saquon, you know, that's that he's in a good offense
31:05and he's he's good enough. Whereas Mike Washington Ashton Jeanty's Ashton Jeanty. We can't call the Raiders a good offense yet, you
31:15know.
31:15>> Right.
31:16>> No, and Tank Bigsby, man, really has made the most of his opportunities over the course of these past few years. So,
31:21one of my favorite handcuffs to get this late. And then at wide receiver, let's just go ahead and throw a dart at
31:27Zachariah Branch. And then again, two rounds that will turn >> [laughter] >> into four yards boring, I will say, but yeah,
31:35it didn't exactly feel great. So, DST, hey, Baltimore Ravens guys, I know it's July and everything, but if you remember one thing other than zero RB strategy
31:43from this, remember this Jesse Minter led Ravens, maybe the best start starting schedule for any DST out there.
31:49They get the Colts and Daniel Jones in his first game off the Achilles in week one. The Saints in week two in
31:55Baltimore, not that the Saints are complete, you know, idiots on offense, but they're not exactly juggernauts either. Week three against the Cowboys
32:01is the one tough game. After that, Titans, Falcons, and Browns are the next three weeks. Best mix I could find of a
32:08DST where you don't need to overpay for, also could be really good in real life, and again, has that nice early season
32:13schedule, which is what we want.
32:16Kickers, whatever. All right, Jager, that is going to complete our first mock draft. Again, didn't expect to really get an A grade. We did get a B. Brock
32:24Purdy holding it down the QB1 spot. We had to wait at quarterback and tight end, ended up scooping up Mark Andrews
32:30and Chigoziem Okonkwo in the later rounds. Loaded, loaded wide receiver room. Ja'Marr Chase, A.J. Brown, Chris Olave, and Emeka Egbuka. Throwing in a
32:37couple rookies in the later rounds for good measure. Running backs again in a zero RB build are going to be the area
32:43of concern, but I do feel like we got some upside. Treyveon Henderson, Jahmyr Gibbs, Price. Is having the two top running backs potentially from the
32:50reigning Super Bowl matchup bad? I do not think so. Also got Jaylen Warren being perfect for that flex spot. Blake Corum with the sky-high upside should
32:58anything happen to Kyren, and even if not, we're still feeling okay. Roschon White and Tank Bigsby holding down the rest of the roster. So, thoughts here,
33:05Jager? Any things you wish you could do over? How we feeling?
33:09>> Only thing that I would change is if we could have somehow gotten tied in earlier. But, like when you look at our
33:17top four wide receivers, you're like, >> [laughter] >> you know?
33:22>> No, I'm with you, man.
33:24>> [clears throat] >> You could trade one of these guys for a tight end if it ever happens, you know?
33:28Like, especially if you're you're playing in your home league redraft.
33:32>> Ideally with zero RB, I like to get either an elite quarterback or more preferably an elite tight end early. So,
33:37unfortunately, didn't quite work out there. Let's rip another one of these and see if we can't maybe make it happen the second time around. So, we'll go
33:44from the sixth spot here on this one.
33:46Again, same rules as before. So, again, guys, I'm going to have you check out this mock draft tool cuz there's so many
33:50really cool features they have all around. We're mostly just looking at the cheat sheet, but opportunities for you guys to get some awesome reps in. Also,
33:58you won't have to pay for this one. We have a draft assistant tool that's basically the same thing as this, giving
34:02you all the tips and everything, but you can actively put it into your ESPN, Yahoo sleeper draft, and literally draft from our tool. So, very, very cool
34:10things from team Rotowire over here coming your way. Picking pick six, though, come on down Amon-Ra St. Brown.
34:17Wide receiver four three straight seasons, and that's where we got him this year. So, now, Jager, we're in the middle of round two. Let's take up Brock
34:24Bowers and see how this works out.
34:26>> Heck, yes. Exactly.
34:28Um, as much as I like talking out of both sides of my mouth, man. Brock Bowers was injured last year. It wasn't that he
34:34wasn't good.
34:35>> [laughter] >> Right? No, man. I thought I was pretty high on him. I talked to Theo. He's got him 12th player overall. So, we'll see
34:42about that. I don't know about using a round one pick on the guy, but round two, I cannot really complain. So, I'll
34:48go ahead and throw Let's see. Let's get a George Pickens share on here. I'm just going to draft some wide receivers. We
34:53can debate, you know, the overall goodness of each another time.
34:57DeVonta Smith, the fact that he's going in this round, you know, four dude is pretty freaking great over at Sleeper.
35:03Now, we are on the round five. So, we have Amon-Ra St. Brown, George Pickens, DeVonta Smith. Anyone's idea of a very,
35:08very good wide receiver room. And we also have tight end now covered with Brock Bowers. So, this would be about the time, Jack, where we should be
35:16turning our attention to RB. There's still some decent enough wide receivers.
35:19We got the Anks that you can argue are undervalued like Terry McLaurin and Mike Evans. But again, given that we have
35:25already used three on wide receiver and one on tight end, more and more, man, round five is about that point I want to
35:30be taking the first RB. I feel like if we push it to round six, it's really putting us behind the eight ball.
35:37>> Correct. Like I did Yeah, I would like show me the board.
35:41There you go.
35:42Ooh, DeAndre Swift, man.
35:43>> Pickens, Montgomery, DeAndre Swift, come on down, my friend. Again, Ben Johnson's lead running back never been worse than than RB 24. Well said, Jack. Hot
35:53freaking dog, man. So, again, had some of these wide receivers go off the board, but only three running backs cuz a lot of people after drafting them
35:59early are trying to play so. Not today, no way in hell, R.J. Harvey. It's just a more than a fair price.
36:06>> Yeah, I was about to say like starting running back potentially.
36:10>> And again, this is what's fun, guys. You really are in a situation where you're not going to see too many running backs
36:14going off the board. People are drafting tight ends. We already got Brock Bowers.
36:18They're drafting quarterbacks. We're worrying about that later. Again, that's why it's important to kind of have this strategy, not just behind the running
36:24backs, but the other positions as you're going throughout this draft. So, next running back that we are going to be taking, Chuba Hubbard, Rhamondre, Tony
36:32Pollard. This is kind of like an eat your vegetables sort of pick here. Rico Dowdle could be for us later. So,
36:37between these, again, kind of lame running backs, but round seven viable running backs for this build. Who's your fighter Juggernaut?
36:45>> Rhamondre Stevenson because we already got De'Von Achane Swift, but like we're going to play the opposite game that we played last time. We got Trey Trey
36:53Sermon Henderson, we can get Rhamondre.
36:55>> [snorts] >> And guys, I typically I don't want to draft Trey Sermon Rhamondre on the same team. I don't want Chuba and Jonathan
37:01Brooks on the same team. I don't want two guys that are going to be costing you a top eight pick each cuz it's
37:07it's very rare that they both work out.
37:09It happens maybe two times per year where you get multiple top 24 running backs on the same team, but more times
37:14than not it's kind of like Pittsburgh last year with their RB 21, RB 23. So, just keep that in mind. I'm okay with
37:20handcuffing when it's Saquon in round two and you get Tank Bigsby in round 15.
37:24Like that's a strategy where okay, you are getting yourself some safety and look at the other guys going around them. It's when you're using two top
37:30eight, top nine round picks, it's like that's just kind of implying one of them isn't quite going to be working out
37:35here. So, couple more running backs off the board. Again, we're in round eight right now. If we are sticking by the
37:41four and nine kind of mindset, Juggernaut, we could look for a wide receiver if we don't love the running backs, but I do like Rico Dowdle. We got
37:48Blake Corum there as well. Chris Godwin, Ricky Pearsall, Jordan Addison. Thoughts on this range running back versus wide receiver?
37:57>> I think I I like our running backs. The I don't like the upside quite as much.
38:02So, like let's look at a wide receiver now cuz we got Emeka Egbuka pretty early.
38:08>> So, we got Egbuka, so we're going to pass on Godwin. So, it'd be Pearsall, Addison, Pittman types.
38:15>> Are we ready for QB?
38:17>> [laughter] >> Cuz I don't like those either.
38:19>> Let's Let's get another running back then, man, cuz yeah, quarterback, T-Law's there, but just T-Law versus Purdy and Goff, man. I really do feel
38:26like that round 11 spot is waiting for us. Let's get a Rico or do we get Jaylen Warren?
38:31>> No, we're good. Yeah, okay. Again, we're playing the opposite game. Jaylen Warren last time, this time we'll go ahead and
38:35get us some Rico Dowdle. So, again, people also weren't too in love with those wide receivers. So, now, man, can I interest you in a little bit of
38:44Quentin Johnston in round nine?
38:45>> It's better than round eight.
38:46>> Actually, yes. I love Quentin Johnston at the price this year. And I'm like a known hater, but right now the price is
38:52right.
38:53>> Again, don't hate that player. Just hit the ADP and at least on Sleeper, Quentin Johnston's ADP looking pretty fine with
39:00us. So, as we get now into round 10, this is a situation where I would be starting to look for my quarterback
39:07unless there's a running back we still like. Missed out on Roschon Johnson by one pick. That would have been nice to
39:12get.
39:13Jordan Mason? Jonathan Brooks? I say one of these two. Mason or Brooks?
39:18>> Brooks.
39:19Uh just cuz he's fun right now. He's fun.
39:21>> I'm cool with that. We did not draft Keaontay Ingram on this team, so we are good to go there as I double-checked to
39:27make sure I'm not a complete idiot.
39:29Point one for Hardesty today. Again, now we're in round 11. This is the point, man, where I am taking my first
39:36quarterback and it is going to be Jared Goff. Had a video go up last week again talking about how he really is the
39:41preeminent late round quarterback this year. Cannot believe we actually can even call him that, but what a time to be alive. So, now we're again looking
39:48pretty late in the draft. We don't need a second tight end because we got Brock Bowers. Basically have again these next
39:54four picks to probably get a second quarterback, get at least one if not two more running backs, and then one last
40:00wide receiver for good measure. So, looking at these running backs, this is a situation, man. Nice range here. Tyjae Spears Tracy and Tyjae Spears. Two
40:08players where I'm not putting them on the Blake Corum, Kyle McNulty flex with benefits level, but they're kind of like middle class man's uh version of that.
40:15We don't like the offense is the same way, which is primary problem there, but Tracy Spears, do you have a preference
40:19here?
40:21>> I think I would prefer Spears, just because the I I I think it's going to be a true three-headed monster there. So, I
40:28don't think he's going to be a zero if we even draft him, but Tracy could be.
40:32>> Now have our six running backs, De'Andre Swift, D'Onta Foreman, Rhamondre Stevenson, Rico Dowdle, Jonathan Brooks, and Tajae Spears. Again, I like the fact
40:40that all these guys should be viable enough on a weekly basis, and each of them has some decent enough upside as
40:46well. So, pretty good nucleus there, the sort of running backs that you should be looking for in these sort of builds.
40:52We'll go ahead and kind of fly through the rest of this a little bit. We'll throw Baker Mayfield on the squad.
40:57Playing last year through a MCL, PCL sprain, I think they said, guys. That dude was pretty much like that SpongeBob character just wrapped up in a cast all
41:05season. One a tough mofo out there. I'll throw a dart out at Keaontay Ingram, but I will say, man, like even more and more
41:13probably even a waste of pick on Keaontay Ingram. Like, once you get in these late rounds, these wide receivers are a whole lot of nothing, man. Like,
41:19I'll even put the hand up. Like, just at that point, bro, give me Keaontay Ingram or Raheem Mostert. I don't know why I
41:24clicked that.
41:25>> Or some of these tight ends, man. Like like the I I I was looking at free square tight ends. There's a lot of them
41:31that are around David Njoku.
41:34You know, I I could see a path to Njoku being relevant, you know. So.
41:38>> Charlie Kolar getting some steam here in July.
41:42>> it's it's it's so July, man. It's so July.
41:45>> I mentioned the Ravens before, but here's the caveat, guys. I just don't want to take a DST before the second-to-last round. So, if you are
41:51going to do it, the Chargers, they start off the year with I think the Cardinals and the Raiders, tough to complain about
41:56that. And the Lions are another team with a good early season schedule, and I think Aidan Hutchinson could eventually have one of those 20-sack seasons. Their
42:03defense has been so banged up over the past years. All that said, that's if we have to wait. If the freaking Los
42:08Angeles Rams are staring you in the face in round uh you know, in the second-to-last round of the draft, just go ahead and take Myles Garrett and I
42:14guess Aaron Donald and company if the reports are to be believed. So, felt a little bit better about this one, Jagger. You know, still got the B grade,
42:22but what the hell does this thing know anyway? Uh all jokes aside, I do think again, getting that Brock Bowers early,
42:28no, maybe don't have quite as crazy of a wide receiver room cuz our we didn't draft our fourth one inside of the first
42:33five rounds, but still have Amon-Ra St.
42:35Brown, George Pickens, DeVonta Smith.
42:37That trio is going to be able to compete with pretty much anyone in the league.
42:40And again, having that ace in Brock Bowers feels pretty good as well.
42:44Running back room, Jerick McKinnon, Price, DeAndre Swift, Raheem Mostert, Rico Dowdle, Jonathan Brooks, Tajae Spears, and Ray Davis. Again, wouldn't have even minded potentially putting one
42:54more dart on running back. So, the one thing I would say, Jagger, kind of looking at this board, the four and nine for running backs, I
43:02think matters, but five and 10, you could argue for wide receiver is something I would also be trying to happen because again, you guys
43:10can see it. We both felt good about Quentin Johnston. Couple guys this next round, Casey Concepcion, Xavier Worthy, Jayden Reed, Josh Downs a little bit
43:18later, but man, once we get to what is this, round 12 and beyond, like I just struggle to see almost anyone that I
43:24feel great about clicking in redraft.
43:26>> Like Jaylen Nailor is a guy that everyone's going to be excited for because he is the only one Like to me,
43:34he's like the most Zamir White of wide receivers I've ever seen. They're literally even on the same team. So, yeah, I would say that we did the better
43:44job at executing the strategy this draft because we were able to, I think, get out early on positions to where we could
43:52target these other areas uh where it gets pretty dooky fast.
43:57>> Ideally, four running backs and nine, five wide receivers and 10, you get that elite tight end, and then round 11,
44:04hopefully Jared Goff sitting there for us Brock Purdy was before, and then we can still Even if we miss out on those
44:09guys, like I I'm fine going to war with Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray, or you know, Tyler Shuck and Malik Willis. I
44:14know you like Cam Ward this year, Jagger. So, just so many good late-round quarterbacks, bro. That's why I'm just really inclined to kind of let everyone
44:22else chase these mid-round dudes to kind of up the board because as much as we've had a lot of conversations about how the
44:27Lamar Jackson to the kind of Joe Burrow, Jayden Daniels tier, these guys are cheaper, but everyone else is kind of being pushed up a little bit in that
44:35middle range just past them. So, again, awaiting out the QB game is going to be something I'm looking to do this year.
44:41So, any final thoughts here, Jagger, on the squad and just zero RB in general?
44:45>> No, man. Love it.
44:48>> I will say, I don't know if I love zero RB, all right? This is what you got to do. Sometimes the board is going to be
44:53falling its way, but generally all else equal, I think I would prefer to probably get at least one running back in the first three or four rounds, and
45:00then kind of do a similar strategy to get that RB2. Hey, if the board breaks certain way, like this, honestly, we've
45:07managed to get Amon-Ra early. We're not kind of enthused about the running backs. We want to build a Brock Bowers team. I think that's maybe the bigger
45:14thing. It's like, if you do want to have a Brock Bowers team, you're going to be more inclined to go zero RB.
45:20>> Mhm.
45:22I think now, after doing this exercise, I still this I don't do this. I still don't think you should try to do this,
45:29but I feel like it's more possible than ever because we got really hurt by the draft this year, not bringing in an influx of guys.
45:39Uh and that's a big problem with zero RB this year is like, we only have Jahmyr Gibbs and the other guys being drafted
45:47in like the third round, third or fourth round. So, there's just nothing down there. So, I feel better, but man, is it
45:54you're playing a dangerous game.
45:56>> It is a dangerous game, indeed. So, Jagger, fun stuff, man. Again, So, just the first part of our series. We're
46:01going through different draft strategies. Also, we'll be going through kind of different things to look at from the early position, from the middle
46:06position, from the late position when your draft order is going. Also, sleeper ESPN Yahoo specific cuz I know we're all trying to win those home leagues and we
46:14here at RotoWire want to be your one-stop shop for all that. So, appreciate you guys tuning in. As always, if you like the video, like the
