The two WR trade deadline takes that I feel most strongly about: 1) Garrett Wilson trade rumors are nothing but internet fodder and wishcasting. The odds it happens are close to 0%. Also, it makes 0 sense for the Jets to do it. 2) Josh Downs is a good, useful player and can help a lot of teams. You can say his archetype of receiver has limitations, and this is still true. Outside of a few drops this year, he's played well. Don't galaxy-brain this one. The QB coming off a major injury isn't pl...

Something that happens yearly (and weekly) in fantasy, is the overreaction to 1 week of poor WR production. WR usage/production is extremely volatile by nature, and there's generally well less than 10 WRs in the NFL on a yearly basis that will not fall victim to weeks of minimal usage, the truly best of the best (Puka, JSN types). Just 1 WR had 5+ targets in every game last year, and only a handful more did so in 75%+ of their games. Guys like Parker Washington (who had earned the 5th highest...

We officially added a brand-new version of the In-season #ReceptionPerception Charting Tracker to the site last night 🔥 Throughout the season, you can now access my most up-to-date film takes on WRs I can chart every week. Each player has a tag for their performance relative to expectations and a quick notes section when you click on them, plus a link to a deeper notebook with film clips when available (not for everyone). So far, I have at least one game logged on the following WRs: Antonio...
PositiveProjectionAug 24, 2026
Matt Harmon maintains a positive outlook on Josh Downs, projecting him as the team's leading wide receiver with WR2 upside. Despite a slight downgrade due to Keenan Allen's arrival—specifically regarding red zone opportunities where Allen's size is preferred—Downs remains a target for Harmon. He highlights Downs' 75.3% success rate versus man coverage (82nd percentile) as elite, even while playing through a high ankle sprain last season. The team is testing his ability to play outside, though injury concerns persist.

In order for the Colts offense to still function at a high level this season, even after the Keenan Allen signing, they need to get more from Josh Downs as both an outside and downfield WR. Good news is that his #ReceptionPerception charting shows that it is 100% possible: - 75.3% success rate vs. man coverage - 76.5% career average - Strong success rates on digs, outs, posts and corners with decent volume - 70% or better contested catch rate every season Just have to figure out how to integr...

Matt Harmon expresses confidence in Josh Downs having a breakout season this year despite concerns about not beating out Michael Pittman last year. Harmon acknowledges Downs was hurt early last season and couldn't get on the field due to heavier formations and positive game scripts favoring the run, but emphasizes that Shane Steichen will play Downs this year—he won't bench him for Nick Westbrook-Ikhine or other depth options. Alec Pierce being banged up further increases Downs' opportunity. Harmon is not nervous about Downs' projection and feels good about the breakout potential, though hesitant to go all-in due to the unknown.
