A.J. Brown

PositiveProjection36:00

Brown is this year's George Pickens—a unanimously talented player who didn't always have his head on straight and played with a bad passing quarterback (Jalen Hurts) in a weird offensive environment. Now with Josh McDaniels and Drake May (a much better and more complete passer), Brown should be incredibly focused. The source sees no physical decline in Brown's statistical drop, only a lack of focus. Stefan Diggs replicated Brown's stats last year on just 45% of Patriots snaps; if Brown plays 85-90% of snaps, he could lead the NFL in catches, yards, or receiving touchdowns. Brown is still a real-life top-five receiver and is being undervalued at around 30th on some platforms. By mid-season, Brown looked much better than early season, and Drake May's catchable ball rate on downfield targets is night and day vs. Hurts. Josh McDaniels had 180 and 175 target seasons with Devante Adams on the Raiders.

Insight page
PositiveProjection38:28

The source ranks AJ Brown as the 18th player in fantasy this year and would draft him at the top of a foursome of wide receivers (AJ Brown, Drake London, Nico Collins, George Pickens) once the top running backs (James Cook, Saquon Barkley, Ashton Gentile, Marion Hampton, Ken Walker, Chase Brown, Devon Henry, Derek Henry) are off the board. The source believes AJ Brown is better than Nico Collins and Drake London, citing the fit with Drake Maye—who was the best downfield thrower in the NFL last year and is still ascending—as a major upside driver. The source notes Drake Maye's catchable ball rate on downfield targets is "night and day" compared to Jalen Hurts, and Josh McDaniels' history with Devante Adams (180, 175 targets) shows the potential for high volume in this offense.

Insight page
PositiveRole40:10

The source highlights a significant role opportunity for AJ Brown in the Patriots offense compared to his Eagles tenure. AJ Brown was dead last in slot rate among the top 120 receivers by routes run last year with the Eagles; the source notes he "was just like online scrimmage, just right into the corner space and doing nothing." With Romeo Dobbs and Kay Sean as X receiver options in New England, the Patriots can be "a lot more creative with AJ Brown, like some slot snaps, like would be nice for, for once." This represents a material change in offensive usage and scheme fit.

Insight page
PositiveMatchup41:20

The source believes AJ Brown will outscore DeVante Smith this season despite liking Smith's talent. The reasoning centers on environment: Drake Maye was one of the most accurate downfield throwers in the NFL last year and is still ascending, with "meat on the bone volume wise for him as a passer." The source is "not confident" in the Eagles passing game and cites the static nature of that offense over the last couple of years as a reason AJ Brown was unhappy. The source would "lean AJ Brown pretty strongly" in a head-to-head comparison.

Insight page

Bo Nix

NegativeUsage15:00

Bo Nix led the NFL in pass attempts per game at 36 last season, suggesting high volume for Broncos receivers; however, snap distribution was highly rotational, which may normalize with Waddle's acquisition.

Insight page

Chase Brown

PositiveProjection39:00

The source identifies Chase Brown as part of a top tier of running backs (James Cook, Saquon Barkley, Ashton Gentile, Marion Hampton, Ken Walker, Chase Brown, Devon Henry, Derek Henry) that should be drafted before AJ Brown and other wide receivers. The source notes these running backs "have such upside" and are "guys that can just carry you to a title," particularly the second-year running backs that went in the first round.

Insight page

Colston Loveland

PositiveProjection8:00

Loveland ranked as the second-best tight end behind Trey McBride in the second half of last season and is being drafted as a top-40 player, validating his late-season emergence and suggesting sustained production.

Insight page

Davante Adams

NegativeProjection38:47

Adams had 180 and 175 target seasons with Josh McDaniels on the Raiders, demonstrating McDaniels' ability to generate high target volume for elite receivers. This context supports the upside case for AJ Brown with McDaniels in New England.

Insight page

Drake London

NegativeDepth Chart8:00

Drake London is the clear-cut number one receiver on the Falcons; the source notes the Falcons' receiver depth chart beyond London is thin, with signings of Jahan Dotson, Olamide Zaccheaus, and draft pick Zachariah Branch, but no other notable receivers.

Insight page
NegativeProjection40:00

The source ranks Drake London as part of a foursome of wide receivers (AJ Brown, Drake London, Nico Collins, George Pickens) that would be drafted after the top tier of running backs. The source does not believe Drake London is better than AJ Brown, placing him below AJ Brown in the receiver tier hierarchy.

Insight page

Drake Maye

PositiveMatchup38:27

May is a much better and more complete passer than Jalen Hurts; his catchable ball rate on downfield targets is night and day compared to Hurts. This upgrade benefits AJ Brown significantly.

Insight page
PositiveProjection41:20

The source identifies Drake Maye as a key catalyst for AJ Brown's upside, noting he was "the best downfield thrower in the NFL maybe last year, or at least one of the most accurate" and is "only still ascending." The source projects there is "meat on the bone volume wise for him as a passer" and suggests his accuracy on downfield targets will improve further when "he's not scrambling quite as much" next season. This ascending trajectory and downfield accuracy are cited as reasons to be bullish on AJ Brown's volume and efficiency.

Insight page

George Kittle

NegativeInjury25:06

Kittle is likely to miss time early in the season and may not be himself until halfway through the season at least. The source saw Kittle limping in tight end university footage and expressed skepticism about his readiness, noting he was clearly not moving well. With Kittle sidelined, Ricky Pearsall has high upside to capture targets.

Insight page

George Pickens

NegativeProjection36:00

Pickens is the comparison point for AJ Brown's situation—a unanimously talented player who played with a limited quarterback and weird offensive environment, then saw a statistical decline that was not due to physical decline but rather context.

Insight page
NegativeProjection40:00

The source ranks George Pickens as part of a foursome of wide receivers (AJ Brown, Drake London, Nico Collins, George Pickens) that would be drafted after the top tier of running backs. No explicit ranking or comparison is given for Pickens relative to the other receivers in this group.

Insight page

Harold Fannin

NegativeRole8:00

Fannin produced 8 PPG under Kevin Stefanski, demonstrating the tight-end-first tree's ability to generate production; he has opposing skill set to Kyle Pitts—better at breaking tackles and making first-man miss rather than vertical downfield ability.

Insight page

James Cook

PositiveProjection39:00

The source identifies James Cook as part of a top tier of running backs (James Cook, Saquon Barkley, Ashton Gentile, Marion Hampton, Ken Walker, Chase Brown, Devon Henry, Derek Henry) that should be drafted before AJ Brown and other wide receivers. The source notes these running backs "have such upside" and are "guys that can just carry you to a title," particularly the second-year running backs that went in the first round.

Insight page

Jaylen Waddle

PositiveValue10:00

Waddle ranked 8th in first downs per route run last season while on an offense ranked 31st in plays per game; he's now drafted as WR20 on a Broncos offense ranked 5th in plays per game, creating a massive efficiency-plus-volume mismatch; he ranked WR18 in PPG on the Dolphins despite the weak offensive environment.

Insight page
PositiveMatchup12:00

Sean Payton's Broncos offense ranked 2nd in screen rate, 3rd in go balls, and 12th in crossing routes among wide receivers; these are precisely Waddle's three best areas of the field, making Denver the perfect landing spot for his skill set after never being asked to be an alpha in Miami.

Insight page
PositiveProjection14:00

Waddle is the key to Sean Payton's vision of running back a Northern Saints-style proficient passing attack; he's the only meaningful free-agent addition to a team trying to run back a Super Bowl roster, suggesting heavy usage and opportunity.

Insight page
NegativeUsage15:00

Bo Nix led the NFL in pass attempts per game at 36 last season; however, snap distribution was highly rotational (Courtlin Sutton was the only receiver over 60% snap rate at 60%+, Troy Franklin at 58%), suggesting the Broncos may have been forced to rotate due to roster constraints; with Waddle's acquisition, snap distribution should normalize and consolidate around key receivers.

Insight page

Kyle Pitts

PositiveRole6:00

Kevin Stefanski's entire coaching tree has consistently peppered tight ends as primary pass catchers; Trey McBride under Stefanski produced 1 PPG, Harold Fannin 8 PPG; Pitts is likely the second-best pass catcher on the Falcons roster and fits the tree's tight-end-first offensive philosophy; he showed late-season tape of elite vertical ability, tackle-breaking, and after-catch explosiveness that mirrors his college tape.

Insight page
PositiveValue6:00

Pitts is falling to the 85th overall pick despite ranking as the second-best tight end behind Trey McBride in the second half of last season; the source notes he's just 25 years old and tight ends typically peak in their late twenties to mid-thirties (Kelsey, Kittle, Tony Gonzalez, Antonio Gates), suggesting he's buying the dip on a generational prospect who flashed elite tape late last season after years of poor quarterback play (Desmond Ritter, washed Matt Ryan, Kirk Cousins off Achilles, Michael Penix as rookie, Taylor Heineke, Marcus Mariota).

Insight page
PositiveProjection8:00

Pitts can be one of the best vertical tight ends ever seen; late-season tape showed him breaking tackles and turning left (a previous limitation), suggesting physical and technical development at age 25 that positions him for a breakout.

Insight page

Luther Burden

PositiveProjection20:00

The source is obsessed with Burden as a talent and notes he's going in the same draft range as Jalen Waddell. However, the source prefers Waddell over Burden, suggesting Burden is the hope-for comparison rather than the proven commodity. The Broncos offense has no Colson Loveland or Roma Doomsday competing for targets, meaning Burden's role is clearer.

Insight page

Mike Evans

PositiveProjection24:04

Evans is an interesting player for fantasy this season; he ranked third in route-win rate among 50+ route runners (behind only Devante Adams and Pearsall). The source notes Evans' presence on the 49ers allows Kyle Shanahan to get creative with Ricky Pearsall's usage. Evans is injury prone but his role in the offense is valuable.

Insight page

Nico Collins

NegativeProjection40:00

The source ranks Nico Collins as part of a foursome of wide receivers (AJ Brown, Drake London, Nico Collins, George Pickens) that would be drafted after the top tier of running backs. The source explicitly states "I think AJ Brown is better than Nico Collins," placing Collins below AJ Brown in the receiver tier hierarchy.

Insight page

Omarion Hampton

PositiveProjection39:00

The source identifies Marion Hampton as part of a top tier of running backs (James Cook, Saquon Barkley, Ashton Gentile, Marion Hampton, Ken Walker, Chase Brown, Devon Henry, Derek Henry) that should be drafted before AJ Brown and other wide receivers. The source notes these running backs "have such upside" and are "guys that can just carry you to a title," particularly the second-year running backs that went in the first round.

Insight page

Pat Bryant

NegativeUsage20:57

Bryant received targets behind the line of scrimmage in the Broncos-Bills playoff game, with the first three plays going to him. The source notes this reflects Sean Payton's offensive scheme and Bo Nix's limitations on intermediate middle-of-field throws.

Insight page

Ricky Pearsall

PositiveProjection22:55

Pearsall is a post-hype sleeper with high upside and ceiling; he was injured last year (PCL knee injury in week four) but showed elite route-win rate (third among 50+ route runners behind only Devante Adams and Mike Evans) and 22% target rate over the first three games. He averaged over two yards per route run even battling through the PCL injury. The source notes he's undervalued, with Matt Harmon comparing him to Adam Thielen (white receivers with great hands). With Mike Evans on the roster, Kyle Shanahan can get creative with Pearsall's usage, and his ADOT was tremendously down the field at Florida. The 49ers ranked seventh in fantasy environment rankings, creating high-scoring game potential.

Insight page

Sam LaPorta

PositiveValue9:00

LaPorta is going around the same ADP as Kyle Pitts but in a better offense still attached to the Kevin Stefanski coaching tree under Drew Petsing, making him a preferable alternative to Pitts at similar draft cost.

Insight page

Saquon Barkley

PositiveValue30:48

Barkley is a real layup and is absurdly ranked behind Ashton Gentry on every platform despite being running back nine in consensus rankings. The Eagles' offense hinges on getting the rushing attack to work; Barkley was 16th in rushing yards before contact per attempt last year (second in 2024) and seventh in explosive carries (second in 2024 with 72, 70, 68, 65, 39, 25, 23-yard TD runs vs. just two longer than 13 yards last year). The source sees no physical decline, only an average rushing environment and offensive line injuries (Lane Johnson, Landon Dickerson, Cam Juergens). Barkley scored one rushing TD on 11 carries inside the five-yard line last year (an offensive line stat due for regression). If the Eagles' offensive line health improves, Barkley will be the biggest beneficiary and should be a first-round pick.

Insight page
PositiveProjection39:00

The source identifies Saquon Barkley as part of a top tier of running backs (James Cook, Saquon Barkley, Ashton Gentile, Marion Hampton, Ken Walker, Chase Brown, Devon Henry, Derek Henry) that should be drafted before AJ Brown and other wide receivers. The source notes these running backs "have such upside" and are "guys that can just carry you to a title," particularly the second-year running backs that went in the first round. The source also draws a comparison to AJ Brown, noting the Eagles' cyclical nature ("embarrassing wildcard loss, Superbowl appearance, embarrassing wildcard loss, Superbowl win, embarrassing wildcard loss") and suggests Saquon may benefit from this pattern.

Insight page

Stefon Diggs

NegativeProjection38:27

Diggs replicated AJ Brown's stats last year on just 45% of Patriots snaps, suggesting that if Brown plays 85-90% of snaps with Drake May, he could have elite production.

Insight page

Trey McBride

PositiveProjection8:00

McBride ranked as the top tight end in the second half of last season, establishing him as the clear TE1 and validating the Kevin Stefanski coaching tree's tight-end-first offensive philosophy.

Insight page

Troy Franklin

NegativeUsage15:00

Franklin was the second-highest snap rate receiver on the Broncos at 58% last season, indicating a rotational approach to receiver usage that the source suggests is unsustainable and should normalize with Waddle's acquisition.

Insight page
NegativeUsage20:37

Franklin averaged over a screen per game over the last two years; the source notes this volume is going to shift to Jalen Waddell in the new Broncos offense under Sean Payton.

1:06Hey, everyone. We had Josh Norris and Hayden Winks on from Yahoo Fantasy Football today.
1:10Craig is on vacation in Hawaii. We went so long talking about our favorite players for 2026 that we were splitting it into two episodes.
1:17So we're going to have part one today, and we're going to have part two with Josh and Hayden next week.
1:23And then Craig will be back from Hawaii. And we're calling it DK Favorite Players Sleepers.
1:28You hated that I call the sleepers. Sleepers and good values is kind of what I look at it like.
1:34Yeah, well, you were mad at me, but it's fine.
1:37So anyway, we'll get to this. This is a really fun episode.
1:40So, okay, let's get to it. Welcome to the Ringer Fantasy Football Show.
1:44My name is Danny Heifetz, and I'm joined by Danny Kelly and Josh Norris and Hayden Winks of Yahoo, baby.
1:50Craig is on vacation in Hawaii, and so we brought out the big guns.
1:54And I'm not just talking about Hayden Winks' arms.
1:56He's secretly yoked. Josh, it's kind of true that Hayden's yoked, right?
2:00I mean, I'm not going to peel back the curtain in Hayden's life here, but I think he moved about a year
2:06ago and got like a home gym in his big garage and spent a couple grand on free weights and kettlebells and everything.
2:13So he better be yoked. I don't use it enough.
2:16You have to use it. I look at it.
2:18It's nice to look at. Dad strength. I want to do dad corner at the end here.
2:23So we're going to go over our favorite players for this season.
2:27And I want to do that with you guys for two reasons.
2:30One, because not to just like make it all awkward and say nice things to your guys' faces, but I think very
2:36few people do the combination of stats and understanding how modeling and projections work, but also actually understanding how it interweaves with
2:43football and understanding the news as well as you two do.
2:46And we've been like long overdue to do this show.
2:49Also, Craig was on vacation, so it was super convenient.
2:52But on top of all that, you guys who have been an underdog for a long time were traded to Yahoo.
2:58And I would like you to plug your show, but also explain what the hell it means to be traded when you're not actually a football player.
3:05Well, yeah, just like every other professional athlete, Hayden, I now understand what it's like to be traded.
3:11Yeah, I don't know how many details we can share here, Hayden, but we were like pulled into the CEO's Zoom link
3:17and told us, hey, you have two options. One of them is to be traded.
3:21And we're like, yes, let's take that one. Can't wait.
3:24It's going to be awesome. And our show relaunches on July 27th and we're going to go four times a week until the season starts.
3:31So lots to catch up on over the last two weeks.
3:35And guys, this is an awesome time to be on the show with you.
3:39No, it's fun. So the YouTube channel, the handle's at Josh and Hayden and it's Yahoo fantasy football.
3:44And again, so July 27th, first episodes of Matt Harmon.
3:47Yep. Nailed it. Even more yoked than Hayden is.
3:49Matt is the better guy in medicine. Also does yoga, which I hate him.
3:53Anyway, so we're going to go to our favorite players.
3:56And also while we're shamelessly plugging things, DK, we have the live show in Los Angeles Thursday, August 27th and tickets are still there.
4:03So if you're in Los Angeles, check that out Thursday, August 27th.
4:07The tickets are in the episode description. Without further ado, you guys sent me your list.
4:11You want to talk about. We talked about favorite players.
4:14We probably are clarity here, though, because I didn't.
4:17These are not my favorite players. Uh-oh. You didn't read the text I sent them.
4:21You just didn't read the rest. Well, you said sleepers are good value.
4:25I wrote sleepers. We guys will peek behind the curtain.
4:28We've never actually agreed on what the actual. I don't know.
4:31I still don't know what it is. I still don't know what it is.
4:35It's because you say I asked for sleepers and then it's like a band.
4:39It's like you start being like, well, what's real rock?
4:42It's like, what's a real sleeper? Is it like a ninth rounder a sleeper?
4:46And I was like, bring me the players you are most passionate about having on your actual teams for this season.
4:52And if it's a second rounder or a 14th rounder, I don't care as much as like, give me the player who
4:58you actually feel strongest about will overperform based on where they're going.
5:02And I think Josh and Hayden read the text and DK just at this point just ignores everything I say.
5:08We think we'll have sleepers in the title, but truthfully, just bring three to four guys you love this season for redraft.
5:14I don't see any word favorite in here, but that's fine.
5:17We can continue. Wow. All right. Well, you know what?
5:20I'll go fuck myself. I just want to be clear.
5:23These aren't my favorite players. That would be a Devon H.
5:26All right. So we'll come back for that episode too.
5:29Heifetz. How about that? All right. Well, let's just keep Craig on vacation.
5:33Why don't you just come back in a week with that?
5:36Perfect. We'll do it. Okay. So we're doing this.
5:38Let DK write a title for once. We'll see what it's called.
5:42Anyway, you guys sent me this list of players that we don't know what it is and don't know what to call it, which is a great hook.
5:50But I want to go through these in a specific order and there's only one place we can start.
5:55Hayden, you put Kyle Pitts for the Falcons. Literally the most discussed player in the history of this podcast.
6:01Yep. So you're a really smart guy. I really respect your opinion.
6:04Tell me why Kyle Pitts is not a rake that you're stepping on.
6:08It's going to be in your face. Well, I can't even promise that's not going to be the case here.
6:14I'm just saying the pathway to him really balling out.
6:17I saw it last year. I mean, for like the last half of the season, I watched him go absolutely crazy.
6:23Yes, that was without Drake London. But you also realize he's still just 25 years old and you go look at like
6:29the best fantasy seasons at tight ends ever. They're never like at 23 years old.
6:33It's 25. Kelsey and Kittle and these guys are doing until 33.
6:37Tony Gonzalez. I mean, that was like 35 years old.
6:40Antonio Gates was doing it like so much of this position is like, do you have your head on straight?
6:46And I think that Kyle Pitts now has the experience doing this.
6:49You bring in Kevin Stefanski. All he's done for his entire career, the entire tree, not even just Stefanski is pepper tight ends.
6:56They've had two of them the last couple of seasons on the frickin Browns.
7:00There's not a wide receiver to on the team.
7:02Drake London or Bijon could get hurt. We can see Kyle Pitts go crazy.
7:06And because he's burned so many fantasy drafters, nobody wants to draft him like the last three drafters aren't going to had Kyle Pitts.
7:13They're not going to draft him this year. So he kind of falls and falls and falls.
7:18He's after 100th overall. And we have to remember, like he was the alien generational prospect and he just flashed it.
7:24And we might look back in his career and be like, yeah, that knee injury like held him back for multiple years.
7:31And then he turned out to be a perennial pro bowler.
7:34So I think you're just buying the dip on him.
7:37Seems really smart this year. I think the Hayden, you watch a ton of tape.
7:41I do think he looked different at the end.
7:44Yes. It's like truly like he did in college.
7:46There was the explosion was back. The the way that he could evade tacklers and things like we didn't really see that for a couple of years.
7:54He was just kind of like a catch and fall down guy.
7:57It felt like when he had the opportunity and late last season, he was, you know, reverse stiff arming guys and running
8:04after the catch and doing these big explosive plays that you're expecting from a guy who was, you know, top five in the draft.
8:11So I like this. Obviously, he is one of those players that you hate seeing on your team kind of because he's let you down so many times.
8:19It's nice to tell other people to take Kyle Pitts.
8:22Right. I do think like dynasty wise, I'm super excited about all the shares I have.
8:26Hopefully finally paying off. But yeah, in redraft, I think he could be a really great value.
8:31What do you guys make of this quarterback situation?
8:34Josh, do you think it's going to be Penix?
8:36Do you think it's going to be Tua? Who's better for for the skill players?
8:41Well, I don't know if any of them are better for the skill players, but I think this is clearly going to be Tua as as the quarterback.
8:49I mean, when Kevin Stefanski last year gets what?
8:5180 percent Tua and Dylan Gabriel, then he's kind of just found his guy.
8:55I'll be at, you know, now a two left handers here on the roster.
8:59Kyle Pitts is a fascinating player because we all point to, you know, his report card during his rookie season clearing a thousand yards.
9:06But if you actually like had him on your roster during that rookie season, he really didn't do anything for you.
9:12I mean, he was tied in what? 14 in points per game that season.
9:16And it's because just the total lack of touchdowns.
9:19Now that has changed. It's now from, you know, Arthur Smith and everything in between that that has happened.
9:25But it's not an offense that I have like a ton of investment or happiness other than B.
9:30John Robinson and Drake London that in confidence that they're going to be, you know, even average in scoring.
9:35But if I can get on Hayden's side at all, it is from the Kevin Stefanski tree where they really do make
9:42primary pass catchers out of the tight ends. And they're so often the first read.
9:46And so often when a tight end does break out or have a season that actually matters for you, they have to
9:52be the second best pass catcher on their team.
9:55And you look at this roster and if Kyle Pitts isn't the second best pass catcher on this team, then there are
10:01real, real structural problems here for the Atlanta Falcons.
10:04And to that point, the Falcons gave him a contract extension.
10:07And it's funny because when the Falcons, when I say the Falcons, and I wanted him, Kyle Pitts more when it's a contract year than a contract extension.
10:15But the person who really gave Kyle Pitts the contract extension is Matt Ryan, who was his quarterback the rookie year.
10:21That is crazy. Oh, what? I didn't think about that.
10:24That is wild. Like that. I mean, I feel like I'm not hallucinating, right?
10:28Like that way. He was. Yeah, he was the quarterback.
10:31Oh, tell me. I'm not. Yeah. 2021. Like that's how long Kyle Pitts has been in the league.
10:36That does actually mean something to me because he was around him for practice habits.
10:40I think Kyle Pitts, I think in the middle beginning of his career, first of all, he's six months older than Akeem
10:47Mesidor, who was the first round pick for the Chargers this year.
10:50So the point that sticks with me with all this is two things.
10:54Hayden's point that all tight ends usually have their best seasons afterward because you have to learn to catch and block at
11:00an NFL level, but also because of the physical development and on top of it, again, and we can look at Yahoo's
11:07rankings today since you guys got traded to Yahoo.
11:09I feel like Kyle Pitts is going at his floor, which is, oh, like what?
11:14The 85th overall pick. I'm like, okay, well, if you look at the second half of the season, the top two tight ends behind Trey McBride were what?
11:22Colston Loveland and Kyle Pitts. Colston Loveland's a top 40 player and Kyle Pitts is not a top 80 player.
11:27So that's the part of Hayden's pitch that makes me actually want to step on the rink, which is the only thing
11:34worse than having Kyle Pitts again might be, oh yeah, 25-year-old player who has had to play with Desmond Ritter and washed
11:40Matt Ryan, Kirk Cousins off an Achilles injury, Michael Penix in his rookie season into a year where he was hurting his
11:46ACL again, Taylor Heineke, I even mentioned Marcus Mariota, who quit on the team later that season.
11:51It's a pretty Terry McLaurin, early DeAndre Hopkins-esque run of quarterbacks for Kyle Pitts.
11:55And then there's plenty of tight ends that didn't perform until this age.
11:59So I kind of want to step on the rake.
12:02I think I like this one, Hayden. That means a lot.
12:05Just to close the loop on drafting him as his floor, again, we focus a lot on coaching changes and how much that impacts these fantasy players.
12:13Trey McBride last year, attached to Drew Petsing, coming from the Kevin Stefanski tree, we know tied in one in points per game.
12:20Harold Fannin tied in eight in points per game this past season.
12:23I'm like, that is where you're drafting Kyle Pitts here.
12:26Now, do I think that Kyle Pitts and Harold Fannin, and Hayden, speak to this a little bit more, like have opposing skill sets in a way?
12:34I think so. Like, Kyle Pitts is probably at his best in the intermediate downfield portion, and Harold Fannin is probably a
12:40bit better at breaking tackles and, you know, making that first man miss and all that type of stuff.
12:46But at the same time, again, this just goes down to the foundational elements of this styling of an offense and of
12:52this tree that they really, really do care about tight end production.
12:55Yeah, I think that he can be one of the best vertical tight ends, like that we've seen in a very long time.
13:02And, like, the last year's tape, he was actually breaking tackles, and he was able to turn.
13:07I mean, how many years in a row was he?
13:10He could not turn left. He's not a Derek Zoolander.
13:13He can turn left now. Can we talk real quick about the Falcons' receiver core?
13:17I haven't looked at this in a hot minute.
13:20Drake London is the number one clear cut. And they signed Jahan Dotson and Olamide Zaccheaus in free agency, the drafted Zachariah branch.
13:26After that, I am not sure I've heard of any of these guys.
13:30Tell me if you guys have heard of any of these guys.
13:33Vinny Anthony II. Nope. Dylan Drummond. That sounds like someone you're going to recruit in college.
13:38Lameek Brockington. These are not real people. Lameek Brockington.
13:41I look at Keelan Marion. These are the producers of your show.
13:44Keelan Marion. Chris Blair. Antoine Wells Jr. I haven't heard of a single one of those guys.
13:49Austin Gale? That's crazy. That's crazy. Wow. Anyway. That.
13:52All right. I. Okay. So, Pitts. You know what?
13:54That is a good. So, just vote here for a second.
13:57If you're actually going to do. If you had one team this year, I would take Pitts in the seventh round.
14:03Would you guys do that? Yes. Thumbs up or thumbs down, Josh?
14:07Down. Josh down. You don't have to do it that early.
14:10Just wait even longer. Okay. There we go. Do you know what?
14:14Just real quick. I think my opposing answer would be I'm in more of the camp of Sam Laporta.
14:19And he's going right around the same range as Cal Pitts is at this moment.
14:23Just because he is the one now in a better offense still attached to this coaching tree in Drew Patsing.
14:29So, I'm more of Sam Laporta than Cal Pitts in 2026.
14:32We could sidestep of the yes or no, but I think that's a good note.
14:37That's what he does. That's the Josh Norris. So, while we're here, we're going to put Josh on the spot because the second most hated.
14:44You know how some people with fantasy analysts are like, we don't hate players.
14:48We hate their ADP. DK, on our show, we just kind of hate some players.
14:52I know. I was going to say that. Just hate them.
14:55Hayden did a great job of laying that whole thing out.
14:59I just still kind of just can't draft Cal Pitts.
15:01I agree with everything he's saying, but I just kind of hate him.
15:05I'm going to put Josh on the spot next because the second most discussed, maybe hated player in the history of the show is Jalen Waddell.
15:13Love it. Receiver who's traded to the Broncos this year.
15:16The player, I think these two guys and the reason I want to start with them are the players that I'm most
15:22afraid of my biases ruining my year because I'm worried they can have big years.
15:26Josh, you had him on your list. He was traded to the Broncos obviously for a first round pick.
15:32Why is Jalen Waddell also not a rake that you might step on and hit your face?
15:37Uh, for one, we had Ryan Heath. Who's like this up and coming great mind and fancy football on the program last year.
15:43And he talked about league winning wide receivers. And one of the best stats for that is first downs per route run.
15:50Uh, it's why we were on Chris Olave last year.
15:53This past season, Jalen Waddell ranked eighth in first downs per route run.
15:56And if you look weeks one through 16, last year, he was the wide receiver, 18 in points per game on an offense.
16:03That was 31st in place per contest. And now he goes to one that was fifth in plays per game.
16:09And you're able to draft him as wide receiver 20.
16:12Like none of that really makes sense to me at all.
16:15And when you look at where the Broncos with Sean Payton throw the football, they were second in the league among wide
16:21receivers in screen rate, third in go balls and 12th in crossing routes.
16:25Like if you were just to diagram and visualize where Jalen Waddell is at his best, it's all three of, of those areas.
16:31So to me, this is the perfect landing spot for a styling of a player like Jalen Waddell, who has never been
16:38really asked or forced to be an alpha since he's been in the NFL.
16:42Most of the reasons he's been tied to Tyreek Hill and is the one player that Sean Payton knows that, hey, I
16:48can get out of this kind of gimmick stuff and go back to the Northern Saints stylings of me having like this very proficient passing attack.
16:56And Waddell is the key to all of that.
16:58DK, this is funny. I'm glad you guys are here because DK hates Sean Payton, but likes Jalen Waddell and Craig and
17:05I hate Jalen Waddell, but likes Sean Payton. I was the Jalen Waddell defender last year and then he got traded to
17:11the Broncos and I'm like, oh hell, now I can't do it.
17:14I will say he's probably the guy I'll miss on the most this year just because I have a bit that I
17:21just can't draft any Sean Payton players anymore. I just can't do it.
17:25I can't, I can't behold, like be held to the whims of Sean Payton, whoever he wants to like feature in his offense on any given day.
17:32That being said, I mean, if you just sort by, these are the pass rating qualified quarterbacks.
17:37If you sort by attempts per game last year, guess who's number one?
17:41Bo Nix. Yeah. Isn't that wild? Like I don't really feel like that was the case, but Bo Nix averaged 36 pass attempts per game last year.
17:49I mean, he led the NFL in pass attempts.
17:51So, you know, there's, there's enough to go around.
17:54I do think it's going to be more of a, you know, like focused offense in terms of who's out on the field.
18:01Last year, it was constant. They were like rotating in.
18:03They had to get everybody their snaps. Um, basically the only guy that played over, um, 80% of the snaps or over
18:1060% of the snaps was Corlin Sutton. I mean, the next closest guy in snap rate was Troy Franklin at 58%.
18:16And that's just not something, that's not a world you can live in with the receiver position.
18:21I don't think that's going to be the case this year.
18:24Obviously, I think they traded for him to play him a lot.
18:27Um, so yeah, he's probably going to be a blind spot for me because of all those things.
18:33I want Hayden, Josh, whoever wants to jump in.
18:35DK's point of, well, they traded him for because they want to play him a lot.
18:40Sean Payton has traded up for Marvin Mims and never played him.
18:43Sean Payton, I think traded up for a Jr.
18:46Sean Payton trades for people. It's like, I mean, take the football away thing again.
18:50This is going to be my point. Like, don't you think it's a, it's a bit different of not knowing who Sean
18:57Payton is going to play when maybe the other guys you were drafting in fantasy football were like Evan Ingram and Troy Franklin.
19:03And Marvin Mims, like Jalen Waddell is another tier of the talent that we're talking about.
19:08Yeah. Especially because Sean Payton was trying to run back a Super Bowl team and they didn't really add anyone in free agency at all.
19:15And Jalen Waddell is really the only player. I, my question, Josh, I, so is, is it like, is he, Sean Payton has a vision of a team.
19:23He's trying to rebuild the 2007 Saints offense at all times.
19:26Is Jalen Waddell going to be like faster, like, like better Brandon Cooks or faster Michael Thomas?
19:31Because those are different players if you're drafting fantasy.
19:34Sign me up. Well, I mean, I'm also not saying that Bo Nix is Drew Brees here.
19:39So I think like the offense is utilized in different ways and will attack different areas of the field.
19:44Like, for example, okay. Broncos last year, third most passes off play action.
19:48Obviously where the, the Dolphins, excuse me, Jalen Waddell was coming from and the Dolphins, lots of play action on top of that.
19:55But he had over four routes per run off of play action last year.
19:59So like, again, all these stats and underlying metrics and just the eye test to me point to Jalen Waddell being very, very good.
20:06Injuries being hampered by quarterback play. A lot of bad moments over the last couple of years in Miami has prohibited him from doing that.
20:13But like, he's going in the same range as Luther Burden.
20:16I am obsessed with Luther Burden as a talent.
20:18I am still drafting Jalen Waddell over. I single time.
20:21Oh yeah. Yeah. I agree with that. Hayden, do you, do you agree with that?
20:26Yeah. I mean, we're hoping Burden turns into Jalen Waddell is kind of, kind of my point.
20:31There's not like a Colson Loveland in the offense or Roma Doomsday.
20:34So yeah, this, this one to me is also a layup.
20:37I mean, Marvin Minns, Troy Franklin, both averaging over a screen per game over the last two years.
20:42Both of them like that. That doesn't even make sense.
20:45And all that stuff is just going to go to Jalen Waddell.
20:49First and EPA per target over the last four years went to what was on the field.
20:54An entire league. Is that right? Like the Broncos-Bills playoff game.
20:57I was struck that when they came out, the first three plays were just to Pat Bryant behind the line of scrimmage, really.
21:03And that's our guy, Pat Bryant. Don't you know?
21:06I love Pat Bryant. I think it also speaks to why Sean Payton was like, literally anyone do anything for me.
21:12I unfortunately agree with you guys. I think, I mean, FTN Almanac had the great stat that Bo Nix, he had a
21:18hundred attempts targeting middle of the field intermediate. So basically not just right in front of the line of scrimmage, a hundred attempts targeting middle of the field.
21:27It was the second lowest DVOA among all qualified starters.
21:29And so it's like Jalen Waddell, it's screens, it's deep stuff, and it's everywhere, which is what you want.
21:35And it's play action rollouts, it's crossers, it is a lot of bubble screens.
21:39And so I unfortunately agree and think Jalen Waddell has the league winning upside.
21:43And I think I'm going to have to change my mind on him.
21:47And then Craig, I don't know if he'll be with me, but he'll feel betrayed when it comes back.
21:52I like these so far. Somewhere out there is a Chevy truck and the person who drives it.
21:57Well, that's a Chevy person. You probably know one, your buddy, your sister, ones who always show up.
22:03They're the first to rise, the last to leave.
22:05They always have that little extra something. And maybe you've got it too.
22:09Chevrolet together. Let's drive. Visit chevy.com slash trucks to explore the lineup.
22:12Evening. Buyer's remorse. Buy a new car? I'll be moving in.
22:16Let's get started. Uh, sorry, I think there's been a mistake.
22:19I bought it from Carvana. You what? Yeah, great price.
22:22I even have seven days to love it or return it.
22:25So there's no... No, no buyer's remorse. More like buyer's rejoice?
22:28I guess I'll let myself out. Congratulations. I mean it.
22:31Buyer's rejoice. Buy your car today on Carvana. Limitations and exclusions may apply.
22:35See our seven-day return policy at Carvana.com. DK, I want to ask you.
22:38Sure. While we're on these receivers. Uh, you, you texted Ricky Parasol and I was annoyed because I also wanted Ricky Parasol.
22:45Ah. But he's also one of these guys. He's also an injury prone guy in the Niners offense.
22:50And I'm just curious because I feel like we sold Ricky Parasol to everyone last year and that he didn't do anything.
22:56Well, I mean he hurt his, he hurt his knee.
22:59I mean if you go back to... And, well yeah, he was shot earlier and then he hurt his knee.
23:05Um, I mean just going back to last year, I kind of had forgotten about this.
23:10He had, um... He was shot. Four catches for 108 yards.
23:13DK never brings up that he was shot. DK always just was like...
23:16How long did we get it? How long did we get it?
23:20He was shot last year. Yeah. How long did we get it?
23:23Is that in 10 years from now with these shots?
23:26And that's the excuse? Like... Spoiler alert. Nope. It's never not going to come up.
23:31It's always... Jeez. Um, he had four catches for 108 yards against the Seahawks in week one.
23:36Um, I kind of had forgotten about that and over the first three games, obviously a very small sample, but he hurt his knee in week four.
23:43Um, the first four weeks or first three weeks, he had a 22% target rate, five catches and 93 yards per game.
23:50Um, you know, and he's still over the year average over two yards per route run, even coming, like even battling through, you know, PCL injury.
23:57And we've seen how that can really affect guys a lot.
24:00Like basically you lose your stability in your knee.
24:03Um, Bowers Drake London last year. Yeah. And so, um, I, I really do think this is a situation where, and look,
24:09this is kind of going against my don't trust Kyle Shanahan thing, but I do think, um, that this offense, I don't,
24:16I, I, I'm kind of off the not trusting Shanahan thing.
24:19I'm on the Sean Payton is the devil. DK, I think DK has come to, so there are, there are good coaches
24:25that build good offenses and DK likes the ones that get the best players, the ball in creative ways.
24:31And DK has come to hate the guys that get creative players.
24:34Like basically being like, Oh, you don't know how I'll get Justin Jefferson, the ball or how I'll get Puka the ball.
24:40And DK hates Matt LaFleur being like, you don't know where the ball's going.
24:44And DK is like, I'm done with these people.
24:47Yeah, no, it's, it's purely fantasy. I know they're good coaches.
24:50Look, I get it. Um, but if you look at the 49ers, good offense, good quarterback, I've come to accept it.
24:56Brock, Brock pretty is a good player. Uh, he's a Pierce, a good route runner, good hands.
25:01And I think the injury is really the only question here.
25:04And I think the 49ers are going to score a lot of points.
25:08The other thing here that is interesting is I saw this great article from Jared Smola, um, at draft sharks and it
25:14was the fantasy environment rankings where he kind of talked about, he looked at the implied points, uh, oppose opponent implied points.
25:21This is all like based on, on Vegas projections, game total shootout potential, et cetera.
25:25The 49ers were... Careful with the shootout with Parasol, but yeah.
25:28Sure. Sure. Um, the 49ers ranked seventh in that just based on, look, their defense isn't really what it used to be.
25:35They could bounce back this year, but last year they were pretty bad.
25:38So that gives you the opportunity to have a lot of, um, high scoring games and back and forth and a lot
25:45of, a lot of points and plays. And so, um, with Kittle likely missing time early in the season, I wouldn't put
25:51it past him to get back within like a couple of weeks, I guess, but he may not be himself until halfway through the season at least.
25:59Um, and then Mike Evans also kind of injury prone.
26:02So, um, you could have the potential here for a really high upside, high ceiling with Pierce all if, uh, if things fall the right way.
26:09And I think, you know, even if they do end up having pretty much everyone healthy, I still think he's a good player.
26:16Who's going to get a good chunk of the, you know, target right here, 20% target rate, um, and, you know, be a useful player.
26:23I think he's just undervalued right now. Hayden on Yahoo.
26:26Ricky Parasol is, oh, am I pulling this up?
26:29Yeah. Ricky, you have, uh, Ricky Parasol below your future Yahoo colleagues.
26:32Uh-oh. Whoa. Explain myself. Yeah. First of all, how dare you?
26:35Yeah. First of all, um, tough competition over there.
26:38I will say this, that entire tier of receivers, Josh Downs, Xavier Worthy, I'll throw on both of the Packers, young guys,
26:44Reed and Matthew Golden, obviously there's a, there's a pretty nice, like you draft them as your wide receiver four or five
26:51and they can easily be your wide receiver three in fantasy.
26:54I don't think those guys are that dissimilar from like the Jordan Tyson, Makai Lemon tier, who's, uh, like multiple rounds ahead.
27:00So I kind of skip out on that tier and then whoever's just available in this range, I'll gobble them up.
27:06I saw, I see the same thing with the George Kittle stuff.
27:10Like I saw the, everyone like at the, the tight end university stuff were like, wow, look at George Kittle.
27:15I was like, yeah, are you guys looking at the same play?
27:19Like he's clearly limping. Like, am I, am I in crazy pills?
27:22Like everyone's like, look, look at him go. And I was like, I'm not sure about that.
27:27Uh, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's like a pretty slow season for George Kittle and somebody is going to have to step up.
27:34The, uh, I saw this stat from, uh, fantasy points, which was fascinating.
27:38Um, among players that ran 50 routes. So that's like a pretty, not, not that high of a bar.
27:44He was third in route win rate behind only Devante Adams and Mike Evans.
27:48Mike Evans is another interesting one, obviously I think.
27:50And, and he's a guy that I'm interested this season for fantasy purposes.
27:54But, um, I do think Pearsall is just a post type sleeper where we got excited about him last year and he
28:00was started out really well and then he got hurt and then he just wasn't himself for the rest of the season.
28:07Um, your guys, you know, Matt Harmon, I was reading his article recently.
28:10Um, and he comped him to, uh, Adam Thielen as kind of like, like they, I think he comped him and he
28:17has like a historical player comparison tool that looks at like the different win rates and where they line them up.
28:23Win rate, race, all that stuff. Yeah. Yeah. White, white receivers with great hands.
28:27Um, it's a great filter. Adam Thielen was, was a top mark there.
28:31So I think that's just fascinating to see how this will go.
28:34And again, like Shanahan's going to dial up plays to get these guys open.
28:38Yeah. Heifetz. I think Mike Evans is a big deal for Ricky Pearsall because you can stick him on one side of
28:44the field, be stationary if you want him to.
28:47And then that allows Kyle Shanahan to be extremely creative with Ricky Pearsall.
28:51Like you don't have to put them on the line of scrimmage.
28:54You can get them in these stacks, uh, get them in full speed motions, all that type of stuff.
29:00And with that, like even dating back to Ricky Pearsall's time with Anthony Richardson, our guy, uh, back at Florida.
29:06So many of his targets and catches were like 15 plus yards on the field.
29:10I mean, his ADOT was tremendously down the field.
29:12And if you go back, I can't remember if it was last year or during his rookie season, but there was a
29:19huge breakout game against the Detroit lions that Ricky Pearsall had.
29:22And a lot of it was because Kyle got him in these free releases and manufactured space and just allowed him to, to work down the field.
29:30Uh, and quick tangent, did you see that Sheffield reported that some teams had Dijon stripling as wide receiver one in this class?
29:36I mean, there's another name in this wide receiver room too.
29:40Fascinating. So stripling, I like stripling a lot. Actually, I am always dubious of any rookie receiver performing for Shanahan just because
29:46if he goes out and gets Mike Evans, I think stripling is a guy that I'd probably want to add it.
29:52Like I know there's, you know, there's best ball.
29:55There's all those different formats. If like, you're just doing a league, like a 12 team league.
29:59I'm like, you can probably add stripling on waivers when Mike Evans pulls his hamstring.
30:04But there were NFL teams that had stripling over like Carnell Tate, Jordan Tyson, Makai Lemon.
30:08Sure. Sure. Why not? So I'm not going to say what I'm thinking.
30:12Um, I'll say that. Uh, also, Parasol wins late and it's hard to quantify, but he just, he's a great receiver.
30:18Like he creates separation. The combination of getting open early in the route.
30:22But I just, I just think he's great at the catch point.
30:25I just think he's like, he's a creative player.
30:28I just, I, he just, he's a baller. Like, I just think he's fantastic.
30:32So I like this pick a lot. DK. I know people might be mad because I literally said Ricky Parasol and Matthew
30:38Golden were guys last year, but this year, but Parasol is way better.
30:42Um, the next guy I want to ask Josh, you immediately, when we texted about guys, you immediately claim Saquon Barkley for the Eagles.
30:49Yeah. This is probably what threw DK off because, uh, Saquon's obviously not a sleeper at all.
30:54Yeah. I said sleepers. And then I was like, but don't get caught up by sleepers.
30:59Tell me players who will outperform their thing. I don't know.
31:02Some people want an eight round sleeper. Some people like it's not real sleepers.
31:06I'm trying to put the blame on myself here.
31:08High Fitz. Um, I think we all need a layup, you know, at times.
31:12And I think Saquon Barkley is like a real layup in this conversation.
31:16Right. I think it's absolutely absurd that he's going behind Ash and Gentty on every single platform out there.
31:22And if you go and look at consensus rankings, Saquon Barkley is actually running back nine at this moment.
31:27Just overall, when you hear about the Eagles all off season, you're going to listen to talk about, you know, the passing
31:34game and how Sean Manion is going to come in and pluck these new passes and routes and concepts from Jalen hurts.
31:40And how is Devante Smith going to, you know, take over for what AJ Brown left on the table.
31:45And you have Makai Lemon and Eli Stowers and all this stuff.
31:49Look, none of that matters unless they get the rushing attack to work.
31:53Like the key to everything is getting Saquon Barkley back to close to what he did in 2024, because that is what changes the math.
32:00Like that is what changes the coverage. That is what forces a safety to get closer to the boxing.
32:05Then you get single high. Then you can throw all this stuff down the field.
32:10And this just was an average rushing attack last year versus being a top two, three, four rushing attack like it was in previous seasons.
32:17There's all these metrics I can run through in a moment that point to that.
32:21But like, I don't see how we can draft someone.
32:24And I'll just, I don't want to pick on Ash and Gentry, but I'm going to.
32:29And an offense that's projected for like the fifth lowest points compared to one that is, you know, projected among one of
32:35the most consistent scoring offenses across the league and just has easily better talent.
32:39I test wise didn't see anything different from Saquon that I did the previous year.
32:43He just wasn't given the second level as often enough to showcase those 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 yard runs.
32:49Right. Hayden, do you think the Eagles bounce back on offense?
32:53Or is the point that they don't even have to really bounce back for Saquon to be worth a first run pick?
32:59Yeah, they can be 10th in scoring. It doesn't matter.
33:02I thought that the sign last year, which we ignored was when all of the offensive line and were like, my back hurts.
33:08That was a lot of rush attempts going in from the last postseason.
33:12And we kind of like ignored that. And then Lane Johnson, this time Landon Dickerson, like contemplated like retirement.
33:18And he played only 14 games and he was a young player.
33:21Good. Yeah. And he was just like, he was just straight up.
33:25Not good. Cam Juergens was in and out of the lineup.
33:28He was not the same player. In theory, those guys should be healthier this year just because last year was such a disaster.
33:34And I think that's going to make a big difference here.
33:38I think the coaching staff is still the same kind of Eagles principles, a little bit Packers.
33:42And that's all Josh Jacobs. So and my stat here for him was he scored one rushing touchdown on 11 carries inside the five guard line last year.
33:51Like that is entirely an offensive line stat. That's due for regression.
33:54If we even just scored on half of those, he would have been a top five ish running back.
33:59Even last year when the offense was very stuck in the mud.
34:03It kind of feels like 2026 version of CMC in a way where, you know, we were all drafting CMC first overall,
34:09and then he gets injured, has a down season.
34:12And then what we get him in the later parts of round one last year for much of the summer.
34:18And then he goes and just as the best player in fantasy football.
34:21Uh, now Saquon Barkley, we drafted him as the first overall pick last year.
34:25Uh, then he finishes as what the running back 12, 13, 14, depending on your scoring.
34:30Uh, and then now you get him in the second round.
34:33How was Saquon Barkley going in the second round?
34:36I mean, a major part of it was just a average environment last year where he was 16th in rushing yards before contact per attempt.
34:43When in 2024, that was second. All right. Seventh and explosive carries this past season.
34:47Despite that, when he was then second in 2024 with touchdown runs again of 72, 70, 68, 65, 39, 25, and 23 yards.
34:54And then just two touchdown runs longer than 13 yards last year.
34:57So I don't think this is like a declining player, an old washed bad athlete.
35:02That was, we see at the running back spot.
35:04Just simply put the Eagles are going to get back to the Eagles and, uh, Saquon Barkley is going to be the biggest beneficiary of that.
35:12Despite all the noise about the passing attack. I think that the, you know, what you were saying about Ashton Gentry too,
35:18is like you mentioned, he was what, uh, Saquon was 17th in yards before, uh, contact per carry or whatever.
35:24Like Ashton Gentry was dead last, like among all running backs.
35:27Um, and then, and then now he's ranked above Saquon.
35:30Like if sometimes it feels like we get a little cute and fantasy and we're trying to, we're trying to skate to
35:36where the puck is going and everything. But like, yeah, this is still the Eagles offensive line.
35:41This is still Saquon. Like go watch him jump over the guy backwards and, and, you know, touch grass and draft him first.
35:48TK, you know what you just reminded me of?
35:51Gentry is like a, it's like a, they're like stocks.
35:53It's like a tech company pre-revenue. Like Gentry hasn't done anything, but imagine when he starts making money, how much money he can make.
36:00Saquon's like a fucking oil company. And they're like, there's printing money.
36:04And they're like, yeah, but like how much money's left?
36:07And it's like, well, like sometimes, you know what?
36:09Maybe Ashton Gentry will continue to lose you money.
36:12Right. So that, there is an element to that.
36:14Okay. So sticking with the Eagles, I, I, I, relatedly.
36:17So my favorite player, and unfortunately the player I think I'm going to like live and die on the hill this year
36:24for is AJ Brown, who left the Eagles for the Patriots this year and got traded.
36:28Didn't get traded to Yahoo, but they get traded to the Patriots.
36:32And I just think AJ Brown is this year's George Pickens.
36:35And I think that it's, I don't know about you guys.
36:38I think it's harder to find sleepers and values now than it was like five or 10 years ago.
36:44I think everyone's smarter. I think it's harder. I think that sometimes you need like multiple overlapping variables that can fall through
36:50the cracks of both models and the eye test.
36:53And I look at AJ Brown and I see what I saw with Pickens last year, which is a unanimously talented player
36:59who doesn't always have his head on straight, who would play with a bad, like a bad, not a great passing quarterback and a weird passing offensive environment.
37:07And now AJ Brown is with Josh McDaniels instead of Kevin Petulo running the offense.
37:11He's with Drake May, who's a much better passer than Jalen Hurts, a much more complete passer.
37:16And I just think when I look at AJ Brown's statistical decline, I don't see a physical decline.
37:21I see he was not focused. And I think AJ Brown will be incredibly focused this year.
37:26Now, I might just be wrong on that and he's a diminished player.
37:30But when I see Stefan Diggs basically replicated the stats that AJ Brown did last year, playing 45% of the snaps of the Patriots.
37:37I'm like, well, what if AJ Brown plays 85 or 90% of the snaps of the Patriots?
37:42I'm like, I just think AJ Brown is the last receiver left on the board that if he led the NFL in
37:48a volume, if he led the NFL in catches or yards or receiving touchdowns, I don't think anyone would even think it's weird.
37:55And I don't know why he's necessarily like 30th in some platforms.
37:58And so I just think he's still absolutely like a real life top five receiver who had an unfocused couple seasons because Jalen Hurts is a limited quarterback.
38:06And we'll see. I might lose all my leagues because of that.
38:10But I just I just have been surprised to see how many people are willing to write off last year as like a physical issue.
38:17Hayden, I might have an opposing view. So I'd love to hear if you are along the lines of Heifetz.
38:23Please. In like the first part of the season, I thought AJ Brown was not the same.
38:28But then by the end of the season, I actually thought he looked a lot better.
38:32Um, and I don't think that he has to be like peak AJ Brown to go crazy in the offense just because
38:39he has Drake made is like all the catchable ball rate stuff, especially on the downfield targets like night and day between Hurts and Drake may last year.
38:47And then also throughout the factor, Josh McDaniels had some crazy seasons on the Raiders with Devante Adams, 180 targets, 175 targets.
38:53Like, I mean, that wasn't the peak Devante Adams.
38:56Like that was like, uh, yeah. Yeah. So I think there's just some crazy, crazy potential here.
39:01I, I was kind of like wishy-washy on them last year, but like the more I thought about this, I'm like, this one does seem like pretty straightforward.
39:09Josh, please feel free to disagree with me. I'm wildly wrong on multiple players.
39:13It was more eye test stuff where, you know, when I went and watched him individually in that first half of the
39:19season, I thought he did struggle to separate. You know, I thought the best corners in the league were sticking to his
39:25hip pocket more often than we previously saw, you know, a freak athlete out there.
39:30Um, and that continued a little bit as, as, as the season went along at the same time, Drake may is so
39:36willing to throw into tight windows that he's going to give him opportunities to still make these, you know, dunk on you catches that maybe other quarterbacks wouldn't.
39:44So from a fit perspective, I think that's really good.
39:47I guess the question is how rich do you want to be here?
39:51Because like, would you draft AJ Brown? Cause I wonder as we get closer, like there's that big run of running backs
39:57that goes, gente cook, Saquon Hampton, Ken Walker, chase Brown, Devon H and Derek Henry.
40:01And then like, there's this run of wide receivers of AJ Brown, Drake London, Nico, George Pickens.
40:06Are you drafting AJ Brown at the top of that foursome of wide receivers?
40:10Yes. I, I personally am. I think that AJ Brown called the 18th player in fantasy this year.
40:16Cause I agree that there's, it's, and I actually want to talk to you guys about the running back.
40:21Cause like just idea this year, but it's probably a mistake to take AJ Brown over, you know, I mean, James Cook,
40:27even Ashton Gentile, Marion Hampton solely because those guys have such upside.
40:31A lot of like guys that can just carry you to a title and it being those second year running backs that went in the first round.
40:39So, but I, I, I think AJ Brown is better than Nico Collins.
40:42I think I love a better season, Drake London, all these guys.
40:46Like I don't have quarterback. I love the coordinator.
40:49I love the quarterback. I just, I think he's that guy.
40:52Uh, and I, I just, I think also the fact that he's like, Oh, he's almost 30.
40:57I'm like, I don't care about that anymore. I agree that long-term would I in real life want to give him a fourth contract.
41:04I don't know how his knees will do at 33 this year.
41:07I'm not so worried about it, but I'm open to being wrong.
41:10I think, but I do think that I basically would take him probably with like, yeah, once those top running backs are
41:17off the board, I would take him. Question to you.
41:20What are the odds that Devante Smith outscores AJ Brown this season?
41:23Ooh, that's a good question. Cause I think we, we on the show all like Devante Smith this year, just based on, we love the talent, all that.
41:31Um, I still kind of think just the, the environment is so much better for AJ Brown that I would probably put my money on AJ Brown.
41:39Outscoring Devante Smith. I suppose there's a small chance Smith just really, really goes off.
41:43But, um, I just think he, AJ Brown is so perfect for Drake may like Drake may was the best downfield thrower in the NFL maybe last year.
41:51Uh, or at least one of the most accurate.
41:54Um, and he's only still ascending. So who knows what he could do next year when he's not scrambling quite as much.
42:00I think there's, there's meat on the bone volume wise for him as a passer.
42:05Um, and so, yeah, I think I, I just don't know what to make of the, the Eagles passing game.
42:10I'm not, I'm not confident in it. And that's ultimately why AJ Brown was so unhappy the last year or two.
42:16Um, so yeah, I would lean AJ Brown pretty strongly.
42:19The other thing is just the static nature of that Eagles offense last couple of years.
42:24I mean, he was just like online scrimmage, just right into the corner space and doing nothing.
42:29Like you have Romeo Dobbs and Kay Sean to be like X receiver stuff where you can be a lot more creative
42:35with AJ Brown, like some slot snaps, like would be nice for, for once.
42:39You know, like we haven't seen that in a very long time.
42:43Like he was a slot receiver. I think if you look at the 120 receivers that ran the most routes last year,
42:49I think AJ Brown literally was last in slot rate.
42:52He was dead last. Why? I, well, I don't know.
42:55Kevin Petula would say it's Jalen Hurts. And I think Jalen Hurts, if he ever spoke, he's like a Sphinx would say it was Kevin Petulo or Sirianni.
43:03I don't know. I, I will, we'll see it to me.
43:06There is a similarity to Saquon. It's like the tides coming in and out where the Eagles, it's like embarrassing wildcard loss,
43:12Superbowl appearance, embarrassing wildcard loss, Superbowl win, embarrassing wildcard loss.
43:15We're on that schedule again, but we'll see it.
43:18Maybe the Jeff Stoutland, the whole line coach leaving is overrated.
43:21Could talk about the Eagles for a long time.
43:24Okay. That's the end of part one with Josh and Hayden.
43:27And we kept going and that's going to be part two is going to be next week.
43:32Cause it was great, but we went really long and then Craig will come back from Hawaii and we will do hot quarterbacks when Craig is back.
43:40DK, you want to do a couple of emails here before we get out of here?
43:44Absolutely. I asked you like, like that was a question, but obviously I could say no.
43:49Yeah. Also, I will say while people are emailing us, please email us punishments for the ringer fantasy football league.
43:55We're going to bring these back. Right. So for those who don't remember the ring, we're doing the ringer fantasy football league.
44:01Again, we're going to have bill. We're going to have Sal.
44:04We're going to have Mal. We're going to have Chris, Sean, like we're having everyone from the ringer.
44:09And what we did last year, cause we couldn't agree, couldn't get all these people who are in charge of us to
44:16agree on a punishment that was both humiliating that they would actually do was we had people draft their punishments.
44:21I think Scott emailed us this idea and we had people pick their punishments and you could take them.
44:27And so we're going to do it again, but it ended up being kind of lame because honestly, Craig came in last
44:33and then he chose not drinking coffee, which was because he doesn't drink coffee and it was really lame and we screwed it up.
44:40And so we want punishments this year and DK, no offense, but you're more the era of the people in the league.
44:47Like, and basically there's a limit what people with children, like they're not, you're not going to do 24 hours in the waffle house.
44:53Like you literally won't do it. Life changes when you have children.
44:57Have it. So what would you describe, how would you describe how people should send in punishments?
45:02Cause I think we get a lot of enthusiastic stuff from people in their twenties who don't have kids that are like,
45:08well, you just have to like only eat hot dogs for a month.
45:12Something that you think your boss would be willing to do.
45:15How about that? These people ultimately are our bosses.
45:18A lot of them. And I just, just be realistic.
45:21That's all. It's like, and it's hard too. Cause like Sean fantasy was like, I won't eat too cold Kansas soup, but I will shave.
45:28I will put slits in my eyebrows. Like he's vanilla ice.
45:31And I was like, that's shocking to me that he would do one, but not the other.
45:36So anyway, so I sent us emails, but also it's, they're not like going to take a bus to the draft from like 10 States away.
45:43So, but emails, the punishments, please put the punishment in this subject line title.
45:47With that said, I want to go through a couple of things.
45:51We got an email from Nick. And bone. Nick writes, breakfast was yogurt with fruit and honey.
45:56Nice. Nick says, I just got done listening to the pod and you guys were talking about no hands by Waka Flocka.
46:02And it took me back to high school where I was on my way to Spanish class.
46:07He said, shout out Senora Rivera. And I was, I was, of course, I was on my way to an exam at
46:13Spanish, but on the way I was showing my friend no hands by Waka Flocka on SoundCloud.
46:18Should have been Spotify, but it's fine. I know.
46:21Yeah. And so Nick writes, once we get into class or taking the test, I have no idea what any of these translations are.
46:28So I attempt to do it. Every high schooler in Spanish class does.
46:32And I pulled out Google translate on my phone.
46:34And in my attempt to be sneaky, I accidentally hit play on my phone.
46:38And in the middle of this dead, silent classroom bursts the beginning of no hands, which is listen to this track, bitch.
46:44Oh, talk about your all time backfires. So he was trying to cheat and then he brought all the attention to him.
46:51I don't know if there could be a funnier song to play the opening one second of than what.
46:56Listen to this track, bitch. And just like everyone turns and he's like, oh, I'm not cheating.
47:01Oh, my God. That is rough. Did he get did he get in trouble?
47:05Then he lied and said he lied and said he was reaching for a pen and his teacher let him off.
47:11Sure. That old chestnut. And apparently she let him.
47:14But she just watched him the entire remaining of the test.
47:17But he got away with it. That's not as bad.
47:20I mean, that's could be worse. Like at least like he wasn't watching porn or something on his phone.
47:25And that started up, you know, like moaning and whatnot.
47:28That would have been worse. Yeah. But that's that's still pretty tough.
47:32Pretty tough. The other one we were talking about, we asked for celebrity names that hit like how Tony Hawk just has his actual legal name.
47:39And it's the perfect name. Everyone emailed in. But Adams was the best email.
47:43And they Adam wrote breakfast granola bar from Costco banana and a green tea for breakfast.
47:48You're going to he said, Adam writes, you're going to get this a million times.
47:52But the fastest person in the world being named Usain Bolt.
47:55Oh, right. Is one of the craziest things that's ever happened.
47:59You're telling me the fastest person in the world was a half foot taller than every other person running.
48:04Set every sprinting world record. Did a cool pose at the end of the race while breaking the world record.
48:10And his last name was literally Bolt. Bolt. Yeah, that's up there.
48:13That's like what we called it. We can never get the name right.
48:17Not nominative. Nominative determinism. Nominative determinism. Where your name forces you into doing something that you're doctor doctor end up being the best.
48:24Yeah. That's a great one. I think that's probably the elite version of the best version of that.
48:29He was man. He is fun to watch. Did you there's like a another young really tall sprinter.
48:34That is like taking over the hold on. I got to pull this up here.
48:38Did you see the videos of this? I think he's like a high schooler.
48:42No. Yeah, I did see that kids are breaking all these track records now.
48:47I didn't know this, but apparently middle schoolers elementary.
48:49Every kid is faster at every level now. Oh, we talked about this guy.
48:53Gout Gout. Gout Gout. His name is Gout Gout.
48:56Like the opposite of nominative determinism. That's definitely overcome.
48:58Yeah, I mean, I'm sure he doesn't have Gout, right?
49:01He's the world under 20 record holder for 20 meters.
49:04Or sorry, for 200 meters. Australia. He is a joy to watch run.
49:08That guy can run like the wind blows. Gout Gout.
49:11Gout Gout is the opposite of Usain Bolt. His Wikipedia just yell.
49:14It's just everything's gold first for every race. He's runs first, first, first, first, first, first.
49:19Dude, watch him run a race. It's kind of it's similar to Bolt where, you know, over the first whatever distance, it's everybody's kind of close together.
49:27But then by the end of the race, he just pulls apart, pulls away from them at a ludicrous rate.
49:32It's just unbelievable to watch him. It's funny that everyone who is like a sprinter was like tall people can't do it.
49:39And then tall people started doing it. They're like, oh, shit.
49:42Dude, they can cover so much ground. They run the race and probably like half the amount of like strides or whatever.
49:48That's that is great. Did you get any other good ones?
49:51Besides the same boat was the big one. I think now I kind of want the opposite.
49:56I want gout gouts. I want guys that really overcame the opposite name.
50:00Yeah. Yeah. Like how Catron Allen, the Penn State running back, is named Fat Man like that.
50:05You know, not really. But ever calls. Who is the most unaptly named NFL player?
50:09Walker Little, who's like six, six. But I guess that's more like how little like some people named Little are big.
50:15No, poorly named NFL. Email us that. I want people like gout gout who are not what you'd expect.
50:21Um, OK, last one here. This is just like a correction for the record.
50:25Well, no, it's not. It's an area of grievance from a listener.
50:28This is from Jeff. All right. J Bone. Long time listener.
50:32First time emailer. Breakfast, multiple black coffees with two over easy eggs on toast with Cholula and avocado.
50:37Cholula is good with eggs. Cholula. Hot sauce. Oh, is that the hot sauce?
50:41Yeah. I like Texas Pete, but yeah. Jeff says.
50:43I put hot sauce on my eggs every morning.
50:46What kind? I like to switch it up. Frank's is a good one.
50:50Yeah. I'm trying to remember the other ones. I always just get random hot sauces and then try them.
50:55Do you like really, really, really hot hot sauces?
50:58Not like ghost pepper. No, I don't like that.
51:00That's like too much. That's like the food version of like climbing mountains or skydiving or shit where people just like want the hottest.
51:07I don't know what you're trying to feel or why you don't feel alive unless you're like.
51:12Habanero to me is in ghost pepper stuff. It's like, it's just a little too much, but I'll do like buffalo sauce
51:19and I like a lot of it, you know?
51:21I like hot sauce, but I can't. I don't know.
51:24I've hit my limit. There's too many hot sauces.
51:27Too many choices. Jeff writes, as a resident Canadian from Vancouver and lifelong hockey fan, please, for the love of God, stop
51:33making hockey analogies while I enjoyed the utter lack of understanding of the sport and its history during hockey corner a few weeks back.
51:40The continued use of what you believe to be hockey terms, which is mostly Heifetz, such as skate to where the puck is heading has to stop.
51:48That's not a hockey thing. I think I said that today.
51:51We all say it. He says, no one says this.
51:54And it feels like a soccer term because in hockey, very rarely are there passes where the players skated and where the puck is going.
52:0190% of passes are intended to be taped to tape, which is directly to the player's stick.
52:06There are exceptions where the puck is dumped or shot for the layperson into the opposing team's end, and the team tries
52:12to recover the puck on the forecheck, which involves beating the opposing D-man to the puck or hitting him off the puck.
52:19Skate to where the puck is going makes no sense in the context of the sport.
52:23Please stop saying it. And he actually goes on and on, and he's basically, you guys are morons.
52:28Also, the thing I said was icing. He was like, that's wrong, too.
52:32Basically, he's like, I never do this again. Jeff Ainsons.
52:35Offside. I will say that's fair. I understand why he's upset about that.
52:39It was attributed. It's attributed to Wayne Gretzky's dad.
52:41Like, we didn't make it up. Wayne Gretzky's dad named Walter Gretzky was the one who made that expression up.
52:47Okay, good. So fuck you, Jeff. I don't know why you're fucking yelling at us about it.
52:52Yeah. No, I get it. We sound like morons when we talk about hockey.
52:56Well, should it? Wait. What are you saying? So it's basically, it's that quote, Wayne Gretzky's dad, Michael Scott.
53:02I'm seeing a lot of people attributing it to Wayne Gretzky.
53:05And then I see a Reddit post that actually was misattributed to Wayne.
53:08It was said by his father, Walter. Are we sure?
53:11About the way that Gretzky plays. I think part of what made him great was, you know, being able to see the
53:18whole, like, the whole, the whole everybody on the ice and know where to like be and where to pass.
53:23But obviously, look, I call, I went on Vancouver radio one time with our buddy Bick and I accidentally called the puck a ball.
53:30You called? Like, look, I don't really. On Canadian radio.
53:33Yeah, yeah. And they called me on it and it was very funny.
53:37And they also never let me live. What year was this?
53:40This was like five years ago. You called the puck a ball?
53:44I was like, oh, God. They took me, Bick, took me to a, Bick and Sat, they took me to a Canucks game.
53:50It was great. It was fucking fun. Partly because I called the puck a ball and they're like, okay, you need to come to a game immediately.
53:58We need to rectify this situation. All right. Let's get out of here.
54:02We're going to have part two next week. Thank you, DK.
54:05Thank you, Craig, wherever you are. I hope you're enjoying Hawaii.
54:08Thank you, Cam. Thank you, Abu. Thank you, Nikhil.
54:11Thank you, Austin. Thank you, Carlos. Thank you, everyone, for your help.
54:14Thank you, Evan, for listening. Thank you to Josh and Hayden for an awesome thing.
54:19Please check out Josh and Hayden's YouTube. It's Josh and Hayden.
54:22It's a great podcast. They're fantastic what they do.
54:24Give them a follow, Instagram, everything. Of course. Thank you, Lorne.
54:27Lorne. To continue the Millennial Bangers tour, I'm going to shout out Chameleon Air.
54:32Oh, shit. Chameleon Air, Ryden. Ryden Dirty. They see me rolling.
54:35They hate it. Patrolling. I love when that song came on, man.
54:38That's so good. Dude, I knew every word of that in fifth grade.
54:42It's such a good sing-along song. It hits real hard.
54:45It's fucking great. That was- It just reminds me of that college era.
54:49The fifth grade dance? That was- Dude, that was just- It was unbelievable.
54:52Crazy that you guys were that age when I was in college.
54:56It is. It's fifth grade. That is the thing.
54:58It's like you're 12 years older, but you've been an adult for twice as long.
55:03I know. It's wild. The one I always think about is- This came out in 2005.
55:07I graduated college in 2005. The one I always think about is on 9-11, I was in first grade, and you were
55:14old enough to go out of war. Yeah. Like, you could fight in war, and I was literally like, child.
55:19Very strange. Did Chameleon Air do a lot of other stuff?
55:23He did. He had another song that was popular.
55:25I wonder what that guy's up to. So, oh, he's the 40s.
55:29He's from Born in D.C. I should meet up with him.
55:32He had another song that was big. There's that crazy bone on it from Bone Thogs and Harvest.
55:37Wow. Dude, it's great. He had another- What was the other big Chameleon Air song?
55:41God, see me roll. Dude, it's just fantastic. Oh, God.
55:44The two biggest songs on Spotify are writing, which is 335 million streams.
55:48It's low. It's too low. And then I guess it's between Turn It Up, Rockstar, and Good Morning would be like the next couple.
55:55The Good Morning would be just technically- Rockstar sounds familiar.
55:58I think this counts as like a one-hit wonder, more or less.
56:01He had two. He was a two-hit wonder, and I'm trying to remember what, because I know another song of his.
56:07Dollar Signs? Dollar Signs? I'm going to pull it up.
56:10Oh, this is Chameleon Air. It's funny when Spotify has the This Is for guys that kind of had the one big song.
56:17Oh, maybe it was Turn It Up. Dude. Oh, Party Like a Rockstar remix with Lil Wayne, dude.
56:22Yeah, it was Party Like a Rockstar. Yeah. Party Like a Rockstar.
56:25Oh, my. Do you remember Party Like a Rockstar, DK?
56:28I think so. Can you sing it? Party Like a Rock.
56:32Party Like a Rock. Party Like a Rockstar. Come on.
56:34Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know that one. I don't know if that's like one of my favorites, really.
56:40No? No. Shout out, Chameleon Air. When Craig is back from Hawaii next week, we'll return to you with another Millennial Banger.
