The Bucs backfield split in Week 1, per @FantasyPtsData: Bucky Irving: 80.5% of backfield XFP. 21 routes and 7 (!) targets, 2 redzone touches (1 inside 10) Kenny Gainwell: 19.5% of backfield XFP, 12 routes and 1 target, 0 redzone touches So much for that 1A/1B split...PositiveUsageAug 23, 2026
1st 3 touches, but than never comes back on field. Split w/ Gainwell unclear but Irving clearly 1A at worst + Malik Davis > Jaydon Blue this week, throwing a wrench in RB2 projection for Blue. My guess is Blue gets receiving work still, but injury-contingent value could be limited. One to watch next week + Bam Knight rests, Trey Benson almost a certainty to be cut it seemsNegativeUsageAug 20, 2026
Bucky Irving from Week 6 on in his rookie year (first time he saw north of 12 touches), was the RB6 in receptions (39) and RB8 in receiving YPG (28.8), per @FantasyPtsData. This was on just a 36.7% (!) route share, and with Rachaad White running MORE routes than him in this time. In year 2 before his injury (Week 1-4), Bucky was 3rd among all RBs in both receptions (19) and in receiving YPG (48.3). Bucky has been a really efficient receiver out of the backfield, as his career 1.79 YPRR since...PositiveUsageJun 15, 2026
Bucky Irving has flipped from one of the worst values in drafts at 3/4 turn, to one of the best heading towards the 5/6 turn now. He showed us elite ability just one year ago in 2024, top 5 in virtually every efficiency category (explosive %, MTF/Att, YACo/Att, etc) and RB7 production in the 2nd half of the season (16.8 FP/G). His workload prior to injury in 2025 was elite too. He was the RB9 in XFP/G through Week 4 (per @FantasyPtsData) before missing several games and coming back to a more...
