Dowdle had seven rushing attempts to 14 for Warren. My best guess is that McCarthy remembers when Dowdle had a great second half of the season when the duo was in Dallas a couple years ago.

Dowdle reclaims backfield role upon return from toe injury; McCarthy favoring him.

Dowdle returned from a toe injury and immediately reclaimed backfield touches in Pittsburgh's game against Tampa Bay. Despite the Steelers trailing for most of regulation, Dowdle received seven rushing attempts to Warren's 14, and both backs were targeted equally at four times each. The source suggests coach Mike McCarthy may be favoring Dowdle based on his strong second-half performance during their time together in Dallas a couple years ago, indicating Dowdle is likely to maintain a significant role going forward.
