ESPN Fantasy Football on Garrett Wilson
From the article
Wilson had the look of a clear-cut WR1 back in September, as he scored 19.1 fantasy PPG from Weeks 1-3, seeing nine targets per game with two touchdown grabs. Since then, Wilson has scored fewer than 10 points in three of the past four games... And the volume is rapidly declining here, too, as Wilson has six or fewer targets in three of the four games.
STACKED’s take
Wilson's WR1 status fading as rookie Omar Cooper Jr. emerges in Jets scheme.
Wilson opened the season as a clear-cut WR1, scoring 19.1 fantasy PPG from Weeks 1-3 with nine targets per game and two touchdown grabs. However, he has since scored fewer than 10 points in three of the past four games (with only a 23.4-point Week 5 outlier versus Cleveland), and his volume is rapidly declining with six or fewer targets in three of the four recent games. The emergence of rookie wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr., who has scored at least 22 fantasy points in back-to-back games with at least five targets and a touchdown in each, is factoring into Wilson's reduced role. Wilson has dropped down to a mid-to-lower-tier WR2 ranking given Cooper's expanding role and an upcoming schedule featuring tougher matchups (LV, @KC, BUF, @LAC, MIA).
