McKee elevated to Eagles starter; pending free agent with contract leverage opportunity.

Tanner McKee, a 26-year-old sixth-round pick (188th overall, 2023) in his fourth season with the Eagles, has been elevated to starting quarterback with Jalen Hurts sidelined for the remainder of 2026. McKee opened the season as third-stringer behind Hurts and Andy Dalton but moved to backup when the Eagles released Dalton on Oct. 9. He enters this opportunity as a pending free agent who could parlay starting success into a lucrative contract as a high-end backup or stopgap starter.
