McCarthy made it look seamless in completing 20 of 28 passes for 252 yards. He did not turn the ball over and did not run with it, either. What he did was spray the ball short, intermediate and deep, showing off his strong right arm.

STACKED’s take

Positive signalProjection

J.J. McCarthy impressed in debut: 20-28, 252 yards, no TOs; offers more upside than Winston.

Acquired via trade from Vikings less than a month before Week 7 start against Texans; in his first start, completed 20 of 28 passes for 252 yards with no turnovers, spraying ball short, intermediate and deep with strong right arm; at 23 years old, provided heavy dose of positivism for offense's potential; has far more upside than Jameis Winston if he plays to his No. 10 overall 2024 draft pedigree and has matured since Vikings failures.
