The weekend performance was historically bad actually in terms of adjusted yards per attempt...It was the worst single game mark since the 2019 Sam Darnold seeing Ghost games...He threw for 200 plus and three touchdowns in each of the previous two performances.

Penix Jr. historically bad last week; avoid vs. Bengals despite upside
QB24 ranking against the Bengals. Ian Hartitz describes the weekend performance as historically bad in adjusted yards per attempt (accounting for sacks, touchdowns, interceptions)—the worst single-game mark since 2019 Sam Darnold's 'seeing ghosts' game, with four interceptions thrown directly to defenders. However, Penix threw for 200+ yards and three touchdowns in each of the previous two games, so the poor outing shouldn't be assumed as the baseline going forward. Despite physical tools (10.5-inch hands in the 90th percentile, big arm, high velocity) that should theoretically help in wet conditions, Hartitz doesn't want to start him this week against a Bengals defense that should be better and has personnel (Sexy Dexi Lawrence) to cause problems; he's hesitant to 'find out' if the poor outing was an outlier.
