Herbert's 2,000-yard NFL resume makes him most accomplished 49ers RB workout candidate.

The source notes Herbert is the most accomplished of three running backs worked out by the 49ers, having accumulated nearly 2,000 rushing yards over five NFL seasons. As a sixth-round 2021 Bears pick, he played all 17 games as a rookie (103 carries, 433 yards, 2 TDs), then posted his best years in 2022 (731 yards, 4 TDs on 5.7 yards per carry in 13 games) and 2023 (611 yards, 2 TDs in 132 carries). His role dwindled after a 2024 trade to Cincinnati (36 carries) and 2025 stint with the Jets (52 yards in 7 games), making him a veteran depth option for San Francisco.
