JK Dobbins of Denver... was playing really well for Denver. It was clear that Shawn Peyton preferred him significantly as an early down runner... despite getting injured again last year, they went out and extended him and gave him more money this off season... if Dobbins is good to go for week one, he's probably the guy there until he can't hold up...He has a Liz Frank, which is a midfoot fracture essentially... I'm not overly worried about this... I think Dobbins is kind of a sneaky play.
STACKED’s take
Negative signalRole
Lead-back role if healthy, but injury-prone history warrants late-round caution.
Despite a perennial injury history (ACL tear, setback, Achilles tear, Lisfranc midfoot fracture), Dobbins was extended and given more money by Denver this offseason, signaling the team's confidence. Sean Payton clearly preferred him as an early-down runner over other backfield options. If healthy for week 1, Dobbins is the lead back until injury strikes again. The source notes the Lisfranc fracture is more bone than ligament and is not overly worried despite Dobbins' injury history. The source views him as a sneaky late-round play with the caveat that he's injury-prone and likely to need a plan B mid-season.
