JJ McCarthy was one of the worst quarterbacks we've ever seen... You can't look at JJ McCarthy's performance and go, 'Wait a second. He was that bad with something that we consider to be top five. Like he's awful. Like Zack Wilson or worst level awful.'

Negative signalBust

McCarthy's historically poor play eliminates him as a real threat to Murray's job.

JJ McCarthy was one of the worst quarterbacks ever seen, performing at a Zack Wilson or worse level despite playing in Kevin O'Connell's top-five offensive system with elite weapons. The notion that he is genuinely competing for the Vikings starting job is unrealistic; internal plans and the coaching staff clearly want Kyler Murray as the starter, making McCarthy a non-threat to Murray's fantasy value.
