STACKED’s take
Commanders' preseason showed poor pass protection and scheme; Daniels faces heavy load.
The Commanders' offense showed concerning preseason metrics that could limit Daniels' fantasy upside. Washington ranked 21st in both pressure rate allowed and RB yards before contact per rush, with the third-fastest time-to-pressure in the league. In limited preseason action (two dropbacks), Daniels faced two pressures and a sack. The offense posted an NFL-low 30.3% pass play rate on first downs (7.5 percentage points last in the league) and only a 20.6% play-action rate (24th, down 9.2% from last season's 6th-ranked 29.8%). Beat reporters noted lackluster performance during training camp. The source states: 'Here's to hoping Jayden Daniels is ready to put his Superman cape on — he's going to need to shoulder plenty of the load here for this offense to re-reach 2024 heights if the preseason is any indication of what we should expect from this offensive line and scheme.'
