Brown, the biggest acquisition of the offseason for New England in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles, grabbed his lower right leg after an incompletion in the third quarter of Wednesday night's opener against the Seattle Seahawks and stayed down as the athletic training staff came out to check on him. He was later ruled out for the rest of the game with an ankle injury... Brown was reportedly seen leaving the locker room in a walking boot on his right foot.

A.J. Brown, the Patriots' biggest offseason acquisition in a trade with Philadelphia, suffered a right ankle injury in the third quarter of the season-opening loss to Seattle on September 10, 2026. He was ruled out for the remainder of the game after Seahawks cornerback Nehemiah Pritchett landed on his leg on a low throw; Brown immediately grabbed above his ankle and did not return. He was seen leaving the locker room in a walking boot on his right foot. Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel provided no status update after the game.
