Footballguys on Breece Hall

Jets RB1 with expanded passing role under Frank Reich; RB13 projection at RB14 ADP.

The Jets signed Hall to a three-year, $43.5 million extension in May with $29 million guaranteed, ranking his $14.5 million average per year fourth among running backs behind Saquon Barkley ($20.6M), Christian McCaffrey ($19M), and Derrick Henry ($15M). This contract signals the Jets' confidence in Hall as a core piece of their rebuild. Hall delivered career highs in carries (243) and rushing yards (1,065) in 2024 with four rushing touchdowns despite the Jets' 3-14 record and 29th-ranked offense (263.6 yards per game). He ranks 10th in scrimmage yards, sixth in yards per touch, sixth in receptions, and fourth in receiving yards among running backs since entering the league despite poor team circumstances. His RB13 Footballguys projection and RB14 ADP suggest low-end RB1 or high-end RB2 value most weeks. Under new offensive coordinator Frank Reich, Hall's usage in the passing game is expected to expand significantly; Reich is known for maximizing running backs' dual-threat capabilities and plans to feature Hall more frequently as a receiver out of the backfield and keep him on the field for third downs. Improved quarterback play with Geno Smith over Justin Fields and additions to the receiving corps should create more space for Hall in the run game. The presence of fellow running backs Braelon Allen, who returns from a knee injury, and Isaiah Davis could be limiting factors for Hall's touches, though Footballguy Jason Wood argues that barring injury, it's hard to foresee a scenario where Hall isn't the most valuable fantasy player on the Jets.
